Joe Belarmino Lucero
Enjoyed Being A Farmer

MONTROSE - Joe Belarmino Lucero was born in Govenador, N.M., on April 25, 1918, the son of Antonio Jose and Manuelita Atocha (Valdez) Lucero. Mr. Lucero, a farmer, died on Monday, Dec. 28, 1998, at his home in Montrose after a long battle with cancer.
He spent his childhood, received his education, and grew to adulthood in New Mexico.
Mr. Lucero married his wife, Angella, and they were blessed with 11 children. The couple made their home in Montrose for the past 27 years.
He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church of Montrose.
Mr. Lucero especially enjoyed being a farmer.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Lucero's life include his wife, Angella Lucero, of Montrose; five sons: Leroy Lucero and wife Bonnie, of Montrose; Tony Lucero and wife Martha; of Olathe; Joe Lucero; Eugene Lucero and wife Rosselle, of Montrose; Fred Lucero, of Limon; and four daughters: Carmen Lucero, of Olathe; Stella Siwierka, of Aspen; Della and husband Juan Silva, of Montrose; and Beatrice Lucero, of Fort Collins.
He was the proud grandfather of 36 grandchildren; 28 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include six sisters: Louise Evilsisor, of Sacramento, Calif.; Cerila Martinez, of Aztec, N.M.; Sarah Gomez, of Cortez; Mary Ann Martinez, of Reno, N.M.; Irene Meirrman, of San Bernadino, Calif.; and Lupe Martinez, of Farmington, N.M.
Mr. Lucero was preceded in death by his father and mother and two daughters: Carmelita Lucero, an infant who died in 1945; and Theresa (Lucero) Martinez, who died in 1996.
Vigil for the deceased will be recited on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 7 p.m. from the Montrose Valley Funeral Home Chapel.
Funeral Mass in remembrance and to honor Mr. Lucero's life will be officiated by The Rev. Dan Huber on Thursday, Dec. 31, at 10 a.m. from St. Mary's Catholic Church in Montrose.
Rite of Committal will follow the Mass in the Valley Lawns Cemetery
south of Montrose, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Montrose Valley Funeral Home.
Larry Clinton Love
Former Montrose Resident

PARKER - Former Montrose resident, Larry Clinton Love, age 48, of Parker, died from complications of cancer on Tuesday, Dec. 15, 1998, in the Columbia Hospital at Aurora.
Larry Clinton Love was born on Sept. 21, 1950, in Tucumcari, N.M., the son of Clinton L. and Billie D. Love. He graduated from Montrose High School with the class of 1969 and continued to pursue his education at Rangely College in Rangely, Colo.
Mr. Love married Arlene Shelbourn on Sept. 25, 1976, in Denver, Colo. The couple were privileged to celebrate 22 years of marriage this year in September.
Mr. Love was employed with Binks Manufactures of Denver for 20 years. He also worked for the Hotsy Corp. until his illness forced him to retire.
He was an avid Colorado Bronco and Rockies fan.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Love's life include his wife, Arlene Love, of Parker; his parents, Clinton and Billie Love, of Montrose; two brothers: Jerry Love and wife Colleen, of Montrose; Jeff Love and wife Nancy, of Littleton; and one sister, Judy and husband Andy Rumbaugh, of Arvada.
Memorial Services in remembrance and to honor Mr. Love's life were officiated by Pat Gitzen on Saturday, Dec. 19, from the Parker Funeral Home Chapel in Parker, Colo.
Cremation preceded the service.
Burtis W. Hill
World War II Veteran

OLATHE - Former Fargo, N.D., resident, Burtis W. "Burt" Hill, age 81, died on Monday, Dec. 21, 1998, in his Olathe home.
Burtis W. Hill, the son of Burtis William and Betsey (Helgeson) Hill, was born on Aug. 4, 1917 in Fargo, N.D., where he grew up and graduated from the Fargo Central High School with the class of 1935.
On Sept. 5, 1938, Mr. Hill married Amy J. Olson of Fargo and they lived in Minneapolis and Waseca, Minn., before returning to Fargo, N.D., in 1940.
During World War II, Mr. Hill served his country in the United States Navy, returning to Fargo in 1946. He was in the grocery business and, later, in the restaurant business, owning and operating Friday's and Tuesday's A & W Drive-Ins in Fargo.
Mr. Hill later married Helen Knudson and they owned and operated a grocery store in Pelican Rapids, Minn. They then moved to Estes Park where they owned and operated an antique business.
Following Mr. Hill's retirement, he moved to Olathe where he remained until the time of his death.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Hill's life include two sons: Michael Hill and wife Caryl, of Coppet, Switzerland; David Hill and wife Julie, of St. Louis, Mo.; three daughters: Bobbi and husband Chuck Carney; Janice and husband Bruce Anderson, all of Fargo, N.D.; Betsy and husband James Khalili, of Kansas City, Mo.; 14 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one brother, J. Pomeroy Hill, of Salt Lake City, Utah; as well as many beloved nieces and nephews.
Mr. Hill was preceded in death by his parents, Burtis W. and Betsey Hill; and two brothers: Warren Hill and Kenneth Hill.
Visitation for family and friends will begin at noon on Monday, Dec. 28, at the Hanson-Runsvold Chapel in Fargo, N.D., and continue until service time at 1 p.m. at the chapel.
Interment will be held in Lake Ida Cemetery
at Cormorant, Minn., with arrangements being handled under the direction of the Crippin Funeral Home of Montrose and Hanson-Runsvold of Fargo, N.D.
Clara Beth Henry

MONTROSE - Clara Beth Henry, age 79, of Montrose, died on Sunday, Dec. 13, 1998, in the Colorow Care Center at Olathe.
Born on April 20, 1919, in Las Animas, Colo., Clara Beth Carpenter was the daughter of Cleve and Elsie (Heathfrinch) Carpenter. She spent her childhood, received her education, and grew to adulthood in Vona, Colo.
Miss Carpenter was married in Englewood, Colo., to Ralph Henry, who preceded her in death on May 21, 1971.
Mrs. Henry was a member of the Grace Baptist Church of Montrose and the Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
Her special interests and hobbies she enjoyed during her lifetime were reading, writing letters, and crocheting.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Henry's life include one brother, Ed Carpenter, of Cedaredge; and five sisters: Mary Waterman, of California; Georgia Frisky, of Dothan, Ala.; Maxine Loopstra, of Galt, Calif.; Doris Beardsley, of Belleville, Kan.; and Louis Stephenson, of Slidell, La.
Mrs. Henry was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ralph Henry; and one brother, Junior Carpenter.
Memorial Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Henry's life will be officiated by The Rev. Frank Brummitt on Tuesday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. from the Grace Baptist Church in Montrose. The service will conclude at the church.
Cremation will precede the service, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Montrose Valley Funeral Home.
Eugene Earl Gabriel
World War II Veteran

CEDAREDGE - Eugene Earl Gabriel, age 70, of Cedaredge, left his earthly body on Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, to begin his journey into eternal life.
Born in Keyes, Okla., on Nov. 4, 1928, Eugene Earl Gabriel was the son of Clair W. "Gabe" and Helen Gabriel. He attended local schools until enlisting in the military in 1944 during World War II. He served his country for four years in the United States Air Force.
Upon his discharge from the military, Mr. Gabriel returned to the Cedaredge area where he met his future wife, Mitzie Madge Hocker, or as Mr. Gabriel called her, Mitz.
In 1950, the couple were married and made their home in Cedaredge where Mr. Gabriel worked at a sawmill followed by some time at the Williams orchards. The Gabriels solemnized their marriage in the St. George, Utah, temple in July of 1965 for time and all eternity.
Mr. Gabriel moved his family to Ely, Nev., in 1957 with the ultimate goal of returning to Cedaredge after making his mark on the world. He worked for and managed an IML Freight Terminal for 25 years. Upon retirement from IML, the Gabriels bought an Arctic Circle franchise as a family-owned business where six of their eight children worked on and off throughout the years.
In 1987, the couple retired permanently and returned to their homeland of Cedaredge where Mr. Gabriel made his home until the time of his death.
Mr. Gabriel's loves in life included his family, hunting, camping fishing, his wood working projects, "fix it" projects, and his workshop.
Mr. Gabriel's work within his faith was always one of his favorite activities. Through the years, his callings from within the church included ward and stake positions. He served faithfully and unselfishly throughout the years. His faith touched the lives of many people.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mr. Gabriel's life include his wife of 48 years, Mitzie Gabriel, of Cedaredge; four sons: Eugene Gabriel Jr. and wife Justine; Steve Gabriel and wife Pam; Tim Gabriel; Mark Gabriel and wife Linda; four daughters: Neila and husband Danny Swapp; Cindy and husband Jeff Paff; Karen and husband Royce Engan; Sally and husband T.J. Holderness; 22 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Other family survivors include one brother, William Gabriel and wife Arlene; and two sisters: Pat Gabriel and Elsie Clifford.
Mr. Gabriel was preceded in death by his parents, Clair W. "Gabe" and Helen Gabriel; one sister, Naomi Sue Gabriel; and one grandson, Cliffton Warren.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial Service in remembrance and to honor Mr. Gabriel's life will be officiated on Wednesday, Dec. 30, at 2 p.m. from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints at the Cedaredge Ward. The service will conclude at the Cedaredge Ward.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of Taylor Funeral Service, Inc.
Kathaleen Mary Dismant

OURAY - Kathaleen Mary Dismant, age 95, a resident of Ouray for three years, died of kidney failure on Wednesday, Dec. 23, 1998, in the Montrose Memorial Hospital.
Kathaleen Mary Duiric, the daughter of John and Elizabeth (Mier) Duiric, was born on June 30, 1903, in Victor, Colo., where she spent her childhood, received her education, and grew to adulthood.
On Sept. 5, 1931, Miss Duiric married Carl Israel Dismant in Denver, Colo. Mrs. Dismant, a homemaker, was preceded in death by her husband on July 25, 1982, in Denver.
She lived a portion of her life in the Philippines with her husband and son.
Mrs. Dismant made her home in Denver for 53 years before moving to Ouray three years ago where she resided until the time of her death.
She was a member of St. Daniel's Catholic Church of Ouray.
Mrs. Dismant loved and enjoyed art.
She is survived by one son, Carl Francis Dismant, of Ouray.
Memorial Mass in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Dismant's life was officiated by The Rev. Nathanial Foshage on Monday, Dec. 28, at 11 a.m. from St. Daniel's Catholic Church in Ouray.
Serving as organist was Helen Nash, with soloist Phyllis Josephitis singing the musical selections, "Hail Mary," "Abba Father," "Angels We Have Heard On High."
Cremation preceded the Mass, with the Mass concluding at the church.
Arrangements were handled under the direction of Montrose Valley Funeral Home.

Alice Phebe Delgado
Woolworth's Sales Clerk

ECKERT - Alice P. "Dee" Delgado, age 86, who was employed for 25 years as a sales clerk for Woolworth's Department Store, died on Saturday, Dec. 26, 1998, in the Horizons Care Center at Eckert.
Alice P. Heckert was born on Dec. 4, 1912, in Merino, Colo., the daughter of Clarence and Mary (Brown) Heckert.
She married Joseph Delgado and the marriage was blessed with one daughter.
Mrs. Delgado moved from Sterling to Denver where she remained for 30 years. In 1997, she moved to Eckert to be near her daughter, where she made her home until the time of her death.
She was a member of the University Park United Methodist Church of Denver and belonged to the Felicia and the Pegs of her church.
Mrs. Delgado especially enjoyed helping with the bingo games of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and attending AARP functions.
Survivors grateful to have shared Mrs. Delgado's life include her daughter, Evelyn and husband Allen Horn, of Eckert; two brothers: Louise Heckert, of Grand Lake; George Heckert, of Ventura, Calif.; four nephews; and three cousins: Theron, Emory, and Ann McSay, of Fort Collins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph; her father, Clarence W. Heckert; and her mother, Mary Phebe Brown.
Funeral Services in remembrance and to honor Mrs. Delgado's life will be officiated on Thursday, Dec. 31, at 1 p.m. in the Crown Hill Cemetery
Chapel, 7777 West 29th Ave., in Denver.
Interment will follow the service in the Crown Hill Cemetery
at Denver, with arrangements being handled under the direction of Mesa View Mortuary-Cemetery of Delta.
