Joe Dale McMullen
April 1, 1921 - August 2, 2006
Joe Dale McMullen passed away Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2006, surrounded by family and friends. He was born April 1, 1921, in Boynton, Okla. to James and Lily Mae (Ray) McMullen. He married Shirley Anne Lyle on Aug. 22, 1953, in Rangely, Colo. on his nephew, Bob McMullen’s, eighth birthday.
Joe was graduated from Central High School in Muskogee, Okla. in 1942. While attending, he taught welding classes. He joined the U.S. Navy and served in Guam during WWII. He moved to Rangely, Colo., in 1946 where he owned and operated Central Welding and Machine Shop until retirement in 1977. He then moved to Palisade, Colo., spending much time traveling and living in Port Aransas and Rockport, Texas, where Joe loved to fish and hunt for coins with his metal detector.
Joe was a member of the Masonic Lodge of Rangely, Colo., for more than 40 years and the Elks Lodge of Rangely, Colo. He served as president of the Bank of Rangely board of directors and was a member of the Rangely City Council. Joe will be sadly missed by his family and a host of friends that he cherished.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, JV 'Dude' McMullen, William 'Bill' McMullen, Dewey 'Mickey' McMullen and his sister, Mickey Allen-Hall Schell.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley of the home; daughter, Sherry (Cliff) Roberson, Blue Springs, Mo.; son, Robert McMullen, Corpus Christi, Texas; special daughter, Denise Maddox, Dallas, Texas; three grandsons, Kelly and Greg Roberson, Blue Springs, Mo. and Joe McMullen, Atlanta, Ga; sister, Maxine (Chuck) Enterline, Rangely, Colo.; numerous nieces and nephews, whom he loved dearly and his little dogs, Buddy, Molly and Dixie.
A funeral service for Mr. McMullen was held at 2 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 5, 2006, at the Bradley Belltower Chapel with Reverend Gary Dotson officiating. Interment followed in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Jonnie Francis (Pierce) Fullenwider
March 18, 1932 - August 7, 2006
Funeral Services for Jonnie Francis (Pierce) Fullenwider, 74, of Gillette, Wyo., will be held at Stevenson Wilson Funeral Home in Gillette Thursday, Aug. 10 at 2 p.m. Pastor Marty Crump of the Family Life Church and Joe Waterhouse will preside. Burial will follow at Mt. Pisgah Cemetery.
Jonnie was born on March 18, 1932, in Wagner, Okla., to Fred and Vera (Beech) Pierce. She died, peacefully, Aug. 7, 2006, in Gillette, Wyo., surrounded by her children and families.
Jonnie married Albert Fullenwider in Fort Smith, Arkansas on Feb. 21, 1955. They raised three sons, Stan Fullenwider (Jo Layne) of Vernal Utah, Jim Fullenwider (Denise) of Farmington, N.M., and Bob Fullenwider (Kim) of Ojai, Calif., along with three daughters, Wanda Murphy (James) of Wheat Ridge, Colo., Barb Gulley (Paul) and Nancy Turner (Doug) both of Gillette, Wyo.
The family lived in Rangely, Colo., until 1969, when they moved to Gillette, Wyo. Upon retirement, Jonnie and Al lived in their Brackettville, Texas, home during the winter months.
Along with raising her family, Jonnie worked as a bookkeeper in Rangely and Gillette. She retired after working 17 years for Gillette Plumbing and Heating.
Jonnie was a member of the D.O.E.S., American Legion Auxiliary and the Red Hatters Club in Gillette. She created beautiful, award winning, paintings, mostly landscapes and flowers. Fullenwider had a wonderful sense of humor and loved spending time playing cards and dominoes, with her children, 18 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and was an avid reader. Although she excelled at many things, her greatest work was the love and care she gave to her family.
Jonnie is survived by one sister, Rebecca Williams (Guymond) of Claremore, Okla. She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, one brother and five sisters.

Greta Virginia Jeffcoat Thomsen
July 23, 1917 - July 7, 2006
Greta was born in a tent on her family’s homestead 'up Yellowjacket,' near Meeker, Colo. (The log cabin on the homestead was completed the following year.) She and her two sisters, Renora and Helen, and her brother, Myron, were raised on the family homestead, living off of the land, farming and ranching, until their late teen years. The Jeffcoat family was and still is, very close. Her parents were William and Bessie Clark Jeffcoat and her grandparents were William J. and Winona Clark, all of the Meeker and Craig, Colo. areas.
Greta told many stories of her adventures growing up riding the hills of Colorado on horseback where she rode six miles in the snow during winter to and from school every day. One of her teenage summers was spent riding on horseback to Pikes Peak (at least 100 miles away from Meeker 'as the crow flies'), camping along the way, with a group of young friends. Her father was the first one in Moffat County to have an automobile and was known to speed along the roads, which, of course, was inherited by Greta!
She followed her sisters and brother to Dixon, Calif., when she was 18 years old where her brother, Myron, was graduated from Dixon High School. In Dixon, Greta worked as a waitress at the 'Corner Café' across 'A' Street from Dawson’s. She met her husband, William F. 'Tige' Thomsen there and they were married in 1941. They had a son, Myron, who passed away in infancy in the flu epidemic during WWII. Her daughter, Pamela, was born a few years after the war ended and was graduated in 1969 from Dixon High School.
Greta enjoyed returning to Colorado with her family almost every year to help with the family harvest, where she would take pleasure in long horseback camping trips, or to just sit for hours and visit with her many relatives from the Craig and Meeker areas. She always attended the Clark family reunion, held annually in Meeker, Colo.
Greta and Tige enjoyed their motor home and would frequently go camping and traveling the country with their many friends. After Tige passed in May 2000, Greta followed the Firehouse Philharmonics on trips to Europe and Hawaii, which was a huge adventure for a gal who was born in a tent on a homestead in Meeker.
Greta was active in the Davis-Dixon Enchanted Hills Auxiliary, as well as the Dixon Lions Club (where Tige was a charter lifetime member). She was a long-time active member of Dixon Women’s Improvement Club. Greta was a 50-plus year member of the Dixon Community Church, where she was very active in Ladies’ Aid and could always be counted on to support church events and activities. Greta’s church was her extended family. She participated in every event. Greta would not miss a bible study class or Ladies’ Aid meeting. She was especially dedicated to the church’s outreach team and was their greeter at Sunday services. The youth group was also one of her favorites.
Greta was a lady who loved pretty clothes and pretty shoes and had closets full of them to prove it. That enabled her to fit right in when she joined the Dazzling Damsels of Dixon’s Red Hat Society. She loved donning one of her red hats, a pretty purple outfit and a pair of beautiful shoes to join her friends for fun and laughter.
Greta’s love of horses and all animals was very strong and important to her and has passed down throughout her lineage; from her parents, to Greta, to her daughter, Pam, and her grandchildren, Blythe and Ethan. She never missed a chance to pet an animal or to kiss a soft nose.
Greta had many friends of all ages and children gravitated toward her. Greta was truly loved and will be deeply missed by her daughter and son-in-law, Pamela Thomsen Harnagel and Steven Harnagel, her grandchildren, Blythe Harnagel and Ethan Harnagel, her Colorado family, her church family and her many friends. Greta was preceded in death by her brother, Myron Jeffcoat of Craig, Colo.; her sisters, Renora Culverwell of Craig, Colo. and Helen Ducey of Craig, Colo.; and her husband, William F. 'Tige' Thomsen of Dixon, Calif.
A celebration of Greta’s life was held on her birthday, Sunday, July 23 at the Dixon Community Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be given to your favorite charity, the United States Pony Club (an organization for kids and horses, www.ponyclub.org) or the Dixon Community Church. Greta wishes to return home, to the homestead where she was born and had so much fun growing up, so that she can ride freely over the hills and mountains of her beloved Colorado.
Forest E. 'Bud' Norman
February 27, 1974 - July 28, 2006
Forrest E. 'Bud' Norman, 82, of Greeley, Colo. died Friday, July 28, 2006, at Kenton Manor Nursing Home in Greeley of natural causes.
He was born Feb. 27, 1924, to Howard and Emily (Rufenacht) Norman in Ness City, Kan. He was raised at his parents’ homestead in the Great Divide area and was graduated from high school in Craig, Colo. He then served in the U.S. Army. During a leave from the service, he married Betty Lou Stevenson Dec. 31, 1945. After his discharge, he came back to Craig until 1952. They moved to Rangely, where he was employed with Chevron until his retirement in 1985. They moved to Battlement Mesa until 2000 and then to Eaton, Colo., to be near his daughter and family. In his leisure time, he was an avid rock hunter who enjoyed metal detecting, hunting and fishing and just being outdoors 'puttering.'
He is survived by his daughter Rhanda Nusbaum of Wheatland, Wyo., four grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and a brother, Gale Norman of Craig, Colo.
Bud was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Lou; son, Dannel Norman, his parents and a brother, Francis Norman.
Memorial services for Forrest will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, 2006, at the Battlement Mesa Cemetery, Parachute, Colo., with Pastor Mervin Johnson officiating. Cremation has taken place.

James Eugene Harmon
August 14, 1954 - July 11, 2006
Jim Harmon, well-known Meeker resident, died suddenly July 11, 2006, on the Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands where he had been working the last three years.
James Eugene Harmon was born Aug. 14, 1954, in Salida, the son of Eugene Oscar and Joanna (Price) Harmon.
The family moved to Basalt where Jim was graduated from high school with the class of 1973.
Following his graduation he worked for Eagle County Road and Bridge and
later went to work for Schmidt-Tiago Construction in Craig.
It was there that he met Andrea Russell. Jim and Andrea were married Sept. 6, 1980, in Glenwood Springs, moving to Meeker shortly thereafter.
Jim worked for several years as a mechanic and tow truck operator for Valley Repair. He also worked for several years as a delivery driver for R.A.C. Trucking and also briefly for Meeker Sand and Gravel.
Jim had an adventurous spirit and when given the opportunity to use his mechanic skills for San Juan Construction on their projects at the Ronald Reagan Ballistic Missile Defense Test Site, Kwajalein Atoll in the Marshall Islands, he jumped at the chance.
Jim returned to Meeker on vacations every chance he got over the past three years. He especially loved the Range Call celebration, regularly playing various roles in the pageant and participated in the reenactment of the Great Meeker Bank Robbery.
Jim loved the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and was a member of the Meeker Sportsman’s Club, holding many offices in the club, was a charter member of the Flat Tops Chapter of the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation and was a member of the Meeker Lion’s Club.
Jim was an excellent marksman having organized the annual Black Powder Shootout each year. He loved to tell jokes, cook and was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need.
He is survived by his wife, Andrea Harmon, his mother, Joanna Harmon of Yuma, Ariz., one sister, Shelly McAllister and her husband Troy of Montrose and two nieces, Krystle and Charlene. His father, one sister, Shirley Ann, and one nephew, Howard, have preceded him in death.
A celebration of Jim’s
life was held Wednesday, July 26, 2006, at Richard’s Hall at St. James Church in Meeker. In keeping with Jim’s love of a good time and a good meal, his friends gathered at City Park to enjoy a picnic lunch following the services.
Raymond R. Klumker
August 9, 1917 - July 21, 2006
Raymond R. Klumker, 88, formerly of Maybell, died Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Walbridge Memorial Wing in Meeker.
Raymond Richard Klumker was born August 9, 1917 in Golden, the son of William and Elsie (Neil) Klumker. As a young boy, the family moved to Toponas where he attended school. In January of 1942, he entered the United States Marine Corps, serving his country proudly until his discharge in January of 1946, attaining the rank of sergeant.
He was united in marriage Jan. 14, 1945, to Anna Ruth Howe. She preceded him in death on Aug. 24, 1989. Mr. Klumker is also preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Peggy Fowler and three brothers, William, Aldis and William.
Following his discharge from the service, Mr. Klumker moved to Steamboat Springs where he worked for 32 years for the U.S. Forest Service as road maintenance supervisor.
In 1974, he retired and moved to Maybell where he resided until moving to Meeker to be nearer to family. He loved to spend time outdoors hiking, hunting and observing the wildlife, especially the wild horses in Brown’s Park and was also a great 'rock hound.'
Survivors include his daughter, Treasa Ellis and her husband Jim of Meeker, two sons, Charles Klumker and his wife Anni of Oak Creek and Raymond Klumker, Jr. and his wife Zonia of Northglenn, nine grandchildren, Raymond Richard Klumker, III, Erika, Jason, Jessica, Donald and Wesley Klumker, Anna, Christina and Cassandra Ellis as well as one great-granddaughter, Alana and one brother, Louis Klumker of Yuma, Ariz.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, July 28 at the Meeker Christian Church. Interment will follow in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may call at Cochran Memorial Chapel Thursday from noon until 7 p.m. or Friday prior to services at the church.
Memorial contributions can be made to the Maybell Ambulance Service through Cochran Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
Marjorie Dell Morlan
August 12, 1929 - July 15, 2006
Marjorie Dell Morlan passed away peacefully at her home in Grand Junction, Colo., Saturday morning, surrounded by her children and a few of her grandchildren.
Dell was born in Modoc, SC, Aug. 12, 1929, to Jasper O’Neal and Agnes Dell McDaniel. Dell spent her childhood years growing up on the family farm near Modoc that remains part of today’s family heritage and is celebrated as a century farm. She was graduated from Charleston High School in 1947.
She attended Barrett School of Nursing in Augusta, Ga. and graduated with her RN in 1951. In November 1953 she went to Macon, Ga., and joined the Navy Nurses Corp. After only 18 months she was made Lieutenant Jr. Grade and was sent to Saint Albans in New York City for her indoctrination into the U.S. Navy. Her first orders sent her with five other young women to Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego, Calif. It was there she met her true love Thomas H. Morlan. They were married June 25, 1954 in the Naval Chapel at Balboa Park.
The couple made their home in Augusta, Ga. and Charleston, S.C., for several years where their first two children were born. In 1958 the small family returned to Tom’s hometown of Meeker, Colo. Dell went to work at Pioneer Hospital and her family grew. Tom and Dell had seven children; Joni, Herbert, David, Elizabeth, Kris, Philip, and Tina. Dell loved living in the mountains of Meeker and enjoyed camping and fishing and learned to hunt.
Dell was one of Pioneer Hospital’s finest nurses; working there until the early 1970s. Throughout her nursing career she worked in Craig and Grand Junction, Medford, Augusta, Charleston and San Diego.
Tom and Dell divorced in 1972. She married James Clayton in 1983 and they made their home in Medford, Ore. Jimmy had been an early member of George Jones’ Band. Dell always loved country music and had a beautiful voice. With Jimmy she was able to experience performing and together they wrote many country songs until his death in 1988.
She returned to Meeker for a few years before moving to Grand Junction in 1993. One of Dell’s greatest joys was spending time with her family. She also loved to sew, read, write, be outdoors, garden, tell jokes and play cards. She is preceded in death by her parents Jasper O’Neal and Agnes Dell McDaniel, sister Rose McDaniel and sister Polly Moran, brother Jack McDaniel, her two sons Herbert and Kris Morlan, the father of her children Thomas Morlan and her second husband James Clayton.
She is survived by her children Joni (David) Davis, David (Jenifer) Morlan, Elizabeth (Russell) Ducey, Philip (Debbie) Morlan, and Tina (Glen Lee) Morlan. Grandchildren Heather, Bonnie, Philip and Lila Davis, Jessi and Nattie Morlan and Michael Overton, Bryce, Brittney, Anna and Keenan Ducey, Devin Buckendorf and Caleigh Morlan, Casey, Tommy and Shane Powers, Madison and Taylor Lee and great-grandson Ethan Davis. Her sisters Mary Eleanor McDaniel and Martha West, many nieces and nephews and her cats Toat and Beau also survive.
A visitation was held at Callahan Edfast Mortuary Tuesday, July 18, 2006. A memorial service will be at the Meeker United Methodist Church in Meeker, Colo., Friday, July 21, 2006, at 11 a.m.

William L. McDow
December 15, 1931 - June 26, 2006
William L. McDow, 74, of rural Meeker, died June 26, 2006, at the Memorial Hospital in Craig. William Lee McDow was born Dec. 15, 1931, in Anniston, Ala., the oldest of eight children born to William David and Flora Mae (Dutton) McDow. He was raised in Alabama and on May 19, 1950, was united in marriage to Frances Louise Gallahar.
McDow worked for many years in the iron and construction welding business, later in life he and his wife operated a mobile home set-up business in Rifle. At the time of his death he was a clerk in the sporting goods department at Wal-Mart of Rifle.
McDow loved to fish and spend time outdoors, often spending hours on his front porch, field glasses in hand, counting the deer and wildlife in the hills and woods surrounding their home.
In addition to Frances, his beloved wife of 56 years, he is survived by seven sons: William McDow, Jr. of Meeker; James and Franklin, both of Brooksville, Fla.; David of Blackshear, Ga.; Douglas of Meeker; Ronald of Orlando, Fla.; Walter of Brooksville. Twelve grandchildren: Crpl. Nathan McDow, USMC, stationed at Camp Pendleton, Calif.; Krystal; Carlina; Jackie; Troy; Pam; Pvt. Second Class Adam McDow, US Army, stationed at Ft. Eustis, Va.; Justin; David, Jr.; Daniel; Doug, Jr.; and Melissa Ann. Six great-grandchildren, four brothers, Frank, Gary, Alvin, Wayne and one sister, Mary. His parents and two brothers, Ralph and Rodney, preceded him in death.
Funeral services were held Saturday, July 1 from the Meeker United Methodist Church with Ran Cochran officiating.
Charles Erroll Hossack
December 10, 1934 - July 3, 2006
Erroll Hossack, 71, of Meeker, died July 3, 2006, at Pioneers Medical Center following an extended illness.
Charles Erroll Hossack was born Dec. 10, 1934, in Meeker, the son of Donald and Mary E. (Hamilton) Hossack. He was raised and attended school in Meeker, graduating with the Rio Blanco High School class of 1952. Following his graduation, he entered the United States Navy, serving his country for four years.
After his discharge, he attended Colorado State University, graduating with a degree in accounting in 1962. He was united in marriage to Janice Kirkpatrick and together they raised two children, Lori and Kirk, their marriage later ended in divorce.
Erroll worked as an accountant in Grand Junction during the early 1960s, moving to Denver where he eventually became a founding partner and the Chief Financial Officer in the physician malpractice insurance company, COPIC. Erroll retired July 1, 1999, returning to Meeker to be near his mother and family here. Erroll and Gladys enjoyed the view from their Sage Hills home and spent wonderful times together there.
Erroll had a great, dry wit, he enjoyed spending time outdoors, fishing and snowmobiling and also playing cards, especially solitaire and working jigsaw puzzles.
Survivors include his mother, Mary; children, Lori of Lakewood and Kirk; his wife Shawnna of Meeker; two grandchildren, Ellie and Porter; his friend and partner, Gladys; his sister-in-law, Sandy Hossack; nephew, Brett Hossack and his wife Julie and their daughter Tori, all of Paxton, Fla.; and the mother of his children Janice Hossack-Kirk-patrick, also of Lakewood. Erroll is preceded in death by one daughter, Debbie; his father, Donald; one brother, Donald and one nephew.
A graveside service was held Saturday, July 8 at the Highland Cemetery.
Military honors were provided by V.F.W. Post #5843 of Meeker.
Friends may make memorial contributions to either Pioneers Medical Center or the charity of the donor’s choice through Cochran Memorial Chapel, which has been entrusted with the arrangements.
William L. McDow

William L. McDow, 74, of rural Meeker died suddenly June 26, 2006, at the Memorial Hospital of Craig.

Marilyn O. Potter
June 15, 1921 - June 23, 2006
Marilyn O. Potter, 85, of Casper, Wyo., died June 23, 2006 at the Shepard of the Valley Care Center in Casper.
Marilyn Elizabeth Oldland was born June 15, 1921, in Meeker, the daughter of John Ernest and Lillian Myrl (Hubbard) Oldland. She was raised in Meeker and was graduated from Rio Blanco County High School. Following her graduation, she received her medical training at Massachusetts General Hospital and entered the United States Nursing Corps in Fort Lewis in Washington State, serving her country proudly as a dietician.
She was united in marriage to Gordon Cooper Potter June 25, 1949. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent her working years as a homemaker, supporting her husband and children in their many activities. The couple retired to Montrose, Colo., where Mr. Potter preceded her in death May 21, 1998. Marilyn later lived in Fort Collins, Colo., and in September of 2004 moved to Casper, Wyo., entering the care center.
Survivors include her two children, Charles Potter and his wife Katherine of Fort Collins, Colo.; Anne Fitzgerald and her husband Willie of Casper, Wyo., four grandchildren, Scott Potter of Boulder, Kristen Potter of Fort Collins, Katie Fitzgerald and Kristina Fitzgerald, both of Casper and one sister-in-law, Betty Oldland of Meeker, Colo., as well as numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband and parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by one brother, Allan and one sister, Louise Morrison.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 9 at 2 p.m. from St. James Episcopal Church in Meeker. Interment will be made Monday, July 10 at 10 a.m. in the Highland Cemetery. Friends may call Saturday until 5 p.m. at Cochran Memorial Chapel in Meeker, which has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.

Marilyn E. (Oldland) Potter

Marilyn E. (Oldland) Potter, 85, of Casper, Wyo., died June 23, 2006, at the Shepard of the Valley Care Center in Casper.
Marilyn Elizabeth Oldland was born June 15, 1921, in Meeker, the daughter of John Ernest and Lillian Myrl (Hubbard) Oldland. She was raised in Meeker and was graduated from Rio Blanco County High School. Following her graduation, she received her medical training at Massachusetts General Hospital and entered the United States Nursing Corps in Fort Lewis in Washington state, serving her country proudly as a nurse.
She was united in marriage to Gordon Cooper Potter June 25, 1949. She was a devoted wife and mother who spent her working years as a homemaker, supporting her husband and children in their many activities. The couple retired to Montrose, Colo., where Mr. Potter preceded her in death May 21, 1998. Marilyn later lived in Fort Collins, Colo., and in September, 2004, moved to Casper, Wyo., entering the care center.
Survivors include her two children, Charles Potter and his wife Katherine of Fort Collins, Colo.; Anne Fitzgerald and her husband Willie of Casper, Wyo., four grandchildren, Scott Potter of Boulder, Colo., Kristen Potter of Fort Collins, Colo., Katie Fitzgerald and Kristina Fitzgerald, both of Casper and one sister-in-law, Betty Oldland of Meeker, Colo., as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, Marilyn is preceded in death by one brother, Allan, and one sister, Louise Morrison.
Funeral services will be held Sunday, July 9 at 2 p.m. from St. James Episcopal Church in Meeker.
Interment will be made on Monday, July 10 at 10 a.m. at the Oldland family plot in the Highland Cemetery
of Meeker.
Friends may call Saturday until 5 p.m. at Cochran Memorial Chapel in Meeker, which has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
