Leola F. JONES

May 31, 1920 —Nov. 11, 2007

Leola F. JONES , 87, of Loveland died November 11, 2007. She was born May 31, 1920, in Beverly, Nebraska, to James F. and Grace (Skelton) Bowen.

Leola grew up in Nebraska and on June 14, 1941, married Walter V. Jones in Ogallala, Nebraska. She moved to Loveland in 2002.

Leola was a member of the First Congregational Church in Grant, Nebraska. She was a devoted wife, mother, sister and grandmother. She loved gardening and taking care of her grandson, Blake.

Leola is survived by her daughter, Diane Weissmuller of San Francisco, California; grandsons, Blake Jones of Fort Collins, Colorado and Chad Johnson of Erie, Colorado; and two great-grandchildren, Grace and Drew Johnson of Erie, Colorado.

She was preceded in death by her husband Walter Jones January 25, 2007.

Services and burial at a later date in Grant, Nebraska. Viegut Funeral Home of Loveland in charge of arrangements.

Lois A.GARVER

Dec. 25, 1916 — Nov. 2, 2007

Born on Christmas Day, 1916, in Rochester, NY, Lois grew up in Bellevue, PA, where she lived for more than 80 years in her beloved house. In February 2007, she moved to Broomfield, CO, to be close to her family. She passed away Nov. 2, 2007, at Good Samaritan Exempla Hospital in Lafayette, CO.

Lois graduated from Bellevue High School, and earned advanced degrees in music from Carnegie Institute of Technology and Northwestern University. Music was the love and passion of her life. She sang, played the piano, organ, and bassoon. For 35 years she was a music teacher for the Pittsburgh Public Schools. She played her bassoon with orchestras in the Pittsburgh area and founded the Quintessence Woodwind Quintet, playing bassoon with them for over 23 years, with great joy!

Lois loved to travel and explore. She loved hats, Amish quilts, fine china, cooking, collecting recipes, and hosting dinner gatherings. Whether it was a friendly visit, or someone coming to her home to work for her, there was always the invitation to sit down and enjoy a meal. Lois remained independent and actively engaged in life throughout her retirement, studying Tai Chi, leading tours at Heinz Hall, driving friends to appointments, and enjoying line dancing!

Lois will be remembered for her sense of adventure, her generosity, her courage, determination, and strength. Lois is survived by her sister Shirley Patton, nieces Susan Patton and Barbara Patton, nephew Jack Patton and his wife Lynne, great nephews Tyler Patton, Andrew Sedlmayr and his wife Lindsay, great niece Jessica Patton and cousins Tom Cassilly, Joan Cassilly, and Scott Hadley.

A celebration of Lois’ life will be held in Colorado on December 1, 2007.

Kenneth Robert BALLARD Jr.

June 16, 1966 — Nov. 15, 2007

Kenneth Robert BALLARD Jr., 41, of Longmont died Nov. 15, 2007, at Hospice Care Center in Louisville.

He was born June 16, 1966, in Ridgewood, New Jersey, to Kenneth Robert Sr. and Margaret (Curtis) Ballard. He moved to Longmont in 1978 from Pennsylvania.

Ken graduated from Longmont High School in 1985.

He worked at IBM through the Boulder County Enterprise program. Ken participated in the Imagine! program.

Ken enjoyed rodeos, especially Cheyenne Frontier Days, and Longmont High School football games.

He was preceded in death by his father on March 27, 2006.

Ken is survived by his mother, Margaret Ballard of Longmont; his sister, Melanie Patscheck of Broomfield; his grandmother, Marguerite Curtis of Longmont; two nephews; and one niece.

Memorial service will be 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 18, 2007, at the CORE Facility, 1860 Lefthand Circle, Suite E, in Longmont. Cremation has taken place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. BOURG, Patricia Ellen

BOURG, Patricia Ellen, 62, of Longmont, passed away Nov. 7, 2007, at Life Care Center of Longmont. Memorial service 2 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 17, at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. A reception and celebration of Patty’s life will immediately follow at the CORE facility, 1860 Lefthand Circle, Longmont. Cremation at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Private inurnment, Wheatley Family Cemetery in Snowmass. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to 'Association for Community Living (ACL)' or 'Imagine!' and can be sent to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

Frances Ann DeVENY

Aug. 2, 1942 — Feb. 12, 2008

Frances Ann DeVENY, 65, of Denver passed away Feb. 12, 2008, at Porter Hospice. She was born on Aug. 2, 1942, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Francis Bogue and Dorothy A. (Martin) Bogue. Frances was married in Denver on Feb. 9, 1969, to Lyle K. DeVeny, who preceded her in death. She is survived by one son, Patrick DeVeny and wife Alasin of Chicago.

Frances was a member of Notre Dame Church of Denver. She lived at Park Hill Residence, where she was president of the Residence Social Club. Frances enjoyed arts and crafts, was a volunteer for many organizations, loved social activities and turned into quite a social butterfly. Frances loved new adventures, life and children all over the world.

Visitation will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Feb. 18, followed by a funeral service at 11 a.m., at Carroll-Lewellen Funeral Chapel. Interment will be at Foothills Gardens of Memory following the service.

Glee Bair MILLER

July 10, 1910 — Feb. 13, 2008

Glee Bair MILLER, 97, of Longmont died February 13, 2008 at Peaks Care Center. She was born July 10, 1910 in Albion, Nebraska to Herbert C. and Elva O. Bair.

Glee married Floyd Miller and moved to Longmont in the early 1950s. She was a registered nurse and worked at both the old Longmont Hospital and also at the present Longmont United Hospital, retiring in 1977.

Glee enjoyed candle making, knitting, photography, making jewelry and hook rugs along with collecting dolls and antique china.

She was preceded in death by three brothers and her husband.

Glee is survived by her friends Marsha O’Brien, Lee Collins, Bonnie Dexter and Gene and Donna Carroll.

Memorial service will be 2 PM Wednesday February 20, 2008 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Contributions can be made to Longmont Humane Society and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation has taken place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Martha Jean OLANDER

Sept. 6, 1929 — Feb. 12, 2008

Martha Jean OLANDER , 78, of Loveland passed away in Loveland on Tuesday, Feb. 12, 2008.

Martha was born in Fort Collins on Sept. 6, 1929, to Wm. Richard 'Dick' and Mary Jo (Williams) Saulcy. Martha attended and graduated from Loveland High School in 1947.

Martha married Donald A. Olander in Loveland on Dec. 29, 1949. He predeceased her on Aug. 20, 1995.

Education was important to Martha, and she received her B.A. degree from the University of Wyoming and a M.A. degree from the University of Denver in library science.

Martha was an active member of the First Baptist Church and a charter member of P.E.O. Chapter HP, and took part in many Loveland activities.

Martha is survived by her son, Steve Olander and wife Marsha of Loveland; grandsons: Derek Olander and wife Tania of Houston, and Mikel and Todd Olander of Loveland; one great-grandson, Kannon Olander of Houston; and one brother, Bill Saulcy and wife Judy of Encampment, Wyoming. A sister, Virginia Potarf, predeceased.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, 10 a.m., First Baptist Church, 1003 W. Sixth St. In preference to flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to the First Baptist Church or the Mountain Valley Hospice.

KING, Donna J.

KING, Donna J., 80, of Commerce City, Colo., died Feb. 14, 2008, at the Collier Hospice Care Center in Wheat Ridge, Colo. Memorial services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 20, at Highland Lake Community Church in Mead, Colo.

Angelina PARLO

Dec. 1, 1907 — Feb. 14, 2008

Angelina PARLO , 100, of Longmont died February 14, 2008, at Applewood Living Center.

She was born December 1, 1907, in Sicily to Vincenzo and Rosa Mulone. She married Joseph Parlo in Sicily in 1948 and emigrated to Newark, New Jersey that same year. In 1977, she moved to Longmont where she worked as a seamstress for Autotron Products.

She is survived by her son, Peter Parlo, and granddaughter, Vanessa Parlo of Longmont. Mrs. Parlo was preceded in death by her husband in 1965, one stepson, two stepdaughters, seven brothers, and one sister.

Visitation will be held at Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services on Friday, February 22, 2008 from 9:00 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. followed by a Christian Burial Service at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory.

Robert D. 'Bob' SHAW

Dec. 7, 1931 — Feb. 15, 2008

Robert D. 'Bob' SHAW passed away February 15, 2008 at Swedish Medical Center, Englewood. Bob was 76. Bob was born December 7th, 1931 in Walsenburg, Colorado to Robert and Claudia Davis Shaw. He moved to Erie in 1933, where he attended school and lived for much of his life. Bob attended the University of Northern Colorado on a basketball scholarship and served as a Sergeant in the US Army in Japan during the Korean War. Bob married June George in Springfield Missouri on June 26, 1955. They raised their three sons, David, Patterson, and Doug in Erie, Colorado. Bob worked as a mechanical engineer primarily in the cement and precious metals industry, in Denver. He spent over 30 years in this field, largely with Ken R. White and Kaiser Engineering. Never comfortable in retirement, he consulted for a number of years and started and operated small businesses. He was a devout and loving husband, father and grandfather. Bob enjoyed spending time with his family, hunting, fishing and traveling. He coached baseball and never missed an opportunity to watch his sons and grandchildren participate in their sports and activities. Bob took pleasure in his horses, riding and roping and was actively involved with his sons in 4H for over 20 years. Bob and June moved to Longmont in 1989. He was an active member of LifeBridge Christian Church. He was a man of faith, high morals and ethics, practicing these in both his professional and personal life.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Lois M. Shaw.

He is survived by his wife June, sons David, Patterson and Doug and their wives Christine, Kathy, and Teresa and grandchildren Ashley, Chris, PJ, Elena, Madison, Charles, and Hayden and step-grandchildren Brianna, Cassandra, and Sean Haley and a great grandchild, Joseph.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 19, at LifeBridge Christian Church with Rick Rusaw officiating. Interment will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

James A. ELKINS

April 11, 1933 — Feb. 15, 2008

James A. ELKINS , 74, of Firestone, died February 15, 2008 at Good Samaritan Medical Center in Lafayette.

He was born April 11, 1933 in Mount Gay, West Virginia to William and Margaret (Dempsey) Elkins.

He moved to Longmont from Mount Gay in 1940.

James married Betty Sewell on March 5, 1954 in Raton, New Mexico.

James and Betty moved from Colorado and relocated to California where he worked as a machinist in the industrial manufacturing field.

James retired in 1997 and he and Betty moved back 'home' to Colorado to be closer to family and friends.

He was of the Christian faith and enjoyed hunting, fishing and working in his shop.

James was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Elkins of Firestone; three sons, William Elkins and his wife Precy of Firestone, James Elkins and his wife Janette of Garden Grove, California and Anthony Elkins and his wife Nancy of Firestone; six grandchildren, Jason, Scott, David, Sabrina, Ryan and Melayna and four great-grandchildren, Avery, Jaydon, Alexis and Rylan.

Memorial service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, February 20, 2008 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Cremation has taken place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. Visit www.ahlbergfuneralchapel .com to leave condolences for James’ family.

Timothy 'Tim' Alan LOSH

May 7, 1942 — Feb. 15, 2008

Timothy 'Tim' Alan LOSH of Grand Junction, formerly Dacono, died February 15, 2008, in Grand Junction. He was 65.

Tim was born May 7, 1942, in Denver to Russell Losh and D. Ellen Lasley Losh. He was raised in Denver, graduating from North High School in 1960.

In 1960 he married Millie Lind in Albuquerque, New Mexico. They later divorced.

Tim went to work for Martin Marietta in 1960. In 1965 he joined IBM in Boulder as a Department Specialist. He grew with the company, becoming a Product Documentation Analyst. In 1984, he took a position and transfer to Poughkeepsie, NY as a Staff Systems Analyst, where he was program administrator for design function, development, testing and production installation. He retired from IBM in 1991.

Tim married Marguerite Cooper in Pleasant Valley, NY on March 7, 1987. She preceded him in death.

Tim returned to Colorado, where he took an active interest in his community. He served on the board of the Dacono library and later the Carbon Valley Branch Library. He was instrumental in securing computer donations for them. He also was a member of the Weld County Board of Adjustments and United Power CRC. He also provided a computer/internet consulting business. Tim retired and moved to Grand Junction in 1996.

Preceding him in death are his parents, wife, and brother, Ronald Losh.

Surviving are his children: Barb Losh and Dan O’Mary of Erie, Sharon Krause of Berthoud, Tim Losh, Jr. and his wife, Andy, of Denver and Jerry Losh and his wife, Korina, of Greeley; five grandchildren: Brandon, Taylor, Dylan, Jared, Eric, Dani, Alyssa; a sister, Deanna Ganskow of Golden; and his former wife, Millie Deggs of Firestone.

A cremation has been entrusted to Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m., Thursday, February 21, 2008, at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Cris Crisfield of Rocky Mountain Christian Church officiating. Light refreshments will be served following services in the Howe Mortuary Events Room.

Contributions may be made to the Children’s Hospital, 13123 East 16th Avenue, Box 045, Aurora, CO 80045.

Robert M. ‘Bob’ BROWN

Oct. 7, 1937 — Feb. 14, 2008

Robert M. ‘Bob’ BROWN , 70, died Thurs. Feb. 14, 2008 at his home in Boulder of pancreatic cancer . Bob was born Oct. 7, 1937 to Samuel & Helen (Martin) Brown in Stamford, Connecticut. He attended Stamford High School and was a graduate of Westchester Community College in New York. He married Jo Ann Simonitis in 1959 in Stamford, CT. Bob was a former service technician for IBM. He was also formerly employed at Eastman Kodak, Danka & Pitney Bowes in Boulder. He was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church in Boulder and the Quarter Century Club of IBM. Robert served in the US Navy from 1957-1961. Survivors: Wife, Jo Ann of Boulder. Two sons; Robert Jr. (Michele) of Boulder & Glenn (Nancy) of Longmont, CO. One daughter; Jennifer (Barry) Eakins of Boulder. One brother; S. James Brown of Spring Hills, FL. Two sisters; Barbara Swartz of Ontario, Canada & Shirley (Ken) Barrett of Dover, NH. Six grandchildren. A Celebration of Bob’s life will be held Wed. Feb. 20th at 11:00 a.m. at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 1419 Pine St. in Boulder with the Rev. Rol Hoverstock officiating. A reception will follow the service. Henry ‘Von’ William von MUEGGE IV

March 21, 1951 — Feb. 10, 2008

Henry ‘Von’ William von MUEGGE IV , of Longmont, CO passed away on February 10, 2008. He was born on March 21, 1951 in Los Angeles, CA. He lived there until he joined the US Navy. He served as a radar man on the USS Claude Jones in the Vietnam War for four years. He was stationed at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii and was honorably discharged.

He is survived by his six children, Henry von Muegge V of Thornton, Danika King-von Muegge of Littleton, Jennifer Bridge of Federal Heights, Lauren Kihs-von Muegge, Erika von Muegge and Valerya von Muegge of Longmont, his six grandchildren, Brendan, Keegan, Octavia, Davin, Gabe, and Annika, his Brother John of Murietta, CA, his Sister Lori of Superior, CO, and one niece and one nephew.

He was preceded in death by his parents Henry von Muegge III and Viola Lorean von Muegge of Torrance, CA.

His hobbies included fishing, camping, reading, backyard barbeques, riding his Harley, and he was a big Oakland Raiders fan.
