Edith A. Pearce of Longmont died Monday, November 5 at Life Care Center of Longmont. She was 93.
Edith was born April 26, 1914 in Platte City, Missouri to Homer and Elva (Hathaway) Burden. She grew up and attended school in Kansas City and Lyons, Kansas. She was a beautician in Lyons, Kansas and later in Hutchinson, Kansas where she met her husband to be, Dean Pearce. The couple was married in El Paso, Texas on May 1, 1941 where he was stationed with the Army.
Edith and Dean lived and raised a family in Abilene, Kansas and moved the family to Colorado in 1957. Edith became an Avon representative shortly after moving to Colorado and was a representative thru the 1960’s and 1970’s. She was a resident at the Bridge for the last five years.
Edith loved music, crocheting, and playing cards with the people at the Bridge. She also enjoyed traveling, taking cruises and tours with groups and was a member of Ports of Call. Edith was a member of LifeBridge Christian Church.
Her husband, Dean; her parents; a granddaughter, Trisha Pearce, and a sister, Edna Williamson, preceded Mrs. Pearce in death.
Surviving are her son, Ronald Pearce and his wife Penny of Lafayette, Colorado; her daughter, Patricia Bybee and her husband Richard of Longmont; grandchildren: Kevin Myles of Phoenix, AZ, Katey Harris of Milliken, CO, Brian Pearce of Lafayette, CO, James Belcher of Charlotte, NC, Kristin Smith of Denver, CO, Richard W. Bybee of Arvada, CO, and Andrew Bybee of Seattle, WA; four great grandchildren: Lance, Mike E., Kiersten, and Melia; and a nephew, Ken Williamson and his wife Connie and their family of Longmont.
Visitation will be on Wednesday, November 7 at Howe Mortuary from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. and on Thursday before the services. Funeral services will be at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, November 8 at Howe Mortuary with David Bradshaw of LifeBridge Christian Church officiating. Burial will follow at Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

William Jones
Born in Lyons, Colorado on Nov. 3, 1923

William R. 'Buck' Jones succumbed to cancer November 5, 2007. He will be remembered as a great guy, a loyal friend, and an avid golfer. He was born in Lyons, Colorado to Herbert C. Jones and Lucille Kincaid Jones on November 3, 1923. He attended school in Lyons until the family moved to the farm, which is now where the IBM plant sits. There he attended the Batch-Elder School and then graduated form Longmont High School in 1941.
Buck enrolled at Colorado A&M (CSU), where he earned a freshman numeral in football and was a member of the Sigma Epsilon Fraternity.
In 1945, he entered the University of Colorado as a physical education major. He played tackle on the University’s football team for four years (’45,’47,’48,’49), lettering each year. He was named an All-American tackle by LOOK Magazine. Buck kept in contact with many of his teammates and delighted in exchanging outrageous stories. He was a 50-year season football ticket holder.
From 1945 to 1946, he served in the United States Army. He was stationed at Ft. Lewis in Seattle, Washington. He was trained as a demolition expert and played on the Ft. Lewis football team.
After graduating from the University in 1950, he played employed by Standard Oil of Indiana and later by Eaton Metal Products. He acquired an interest in J-8 Equipment Company, a retail oil equipment company in Denver.
After selling his interest in J-8, he retired, became an avid golfer and enjoyed following his CU Buffs. He was a member of the Longmont Rotary Club, as well as the C Club at the University of Colorado.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Patricia McCaslin Jones; his sister, Eileen Nelson; three children, Matthew, Jane and her husband Chris Wagner, and Andrew Jones; and three grandchildren, Elizabeth and Nick Jones, and Sarah Wagner.
A cremation will be held; there will be no viewing.
Services will be held at 1:00 p.m., Friday, November 8, 2007 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Pastor Mark Peterson officiating.

Brian Scott Schrader

Brian 'Scott ' Schrader, Sr. of Longmont, died December 16, 2007 at his residence. He was 45.
Scott was born on August 19, 1962 in Los Angeles, CA to Richard Charles Schrader and Gloria Marilyn McKenrick. He grew up in Southern California. He married Maria Aguilera on April 22, 1982 in Los Angeles, California.
After finishing school Scott worked in the Automotive Industry, producing oil products for automobiles, he also worked in the chemical area, producing different soap products. After moving to Longmont in 1996, Scott went to work for Lightning Eliminators for a number of years in Boulder. The past few years, he has been in property management, managing a number of properties in Longmont.
Scott enjoyed fishing, music and taking long drives with his family, especially in the mountains.
Preceding Scott in death is his father.
Surviving is his wife, a daughter, Kristal Schrader, and two sons Brian Scott Schrader, Jr. and Matthew James Schrader all of Longmont; his mother of Longmont, two grandchildren Dillon Powers and Jenna Streckenbach both of Longmont; two brothers Gary Smith of Washington and Richard Schrader of Anaheim, CA and a sister Cindy Harris of Longmont.
A visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., today at the Howe Mortuary Chapel.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m., today at the Howe Mortuary Chapel with Chaplain Kathy Hedderman of Longmont United Hospital officiating.
Interment will follow at the Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Robert James Stafford

Robert James Stafford, 80, passed on January 1, 2008 at Life Care Center in Longmont.
Bob was born in Longmont on March 25, 1927 to William Henry and Katherine M. (Mohr) Stafford. He spent his entire life in the Erie/Boulder/Longmont area except for a short visit to the West Coast and a stint in the US Army during WWII.
He was a true 'tinkerer' and could fix most anything. Those that knew him respected that he was a fiercely independent and self-reliant man. His main career was with a well drilling company, which left him with the infamous red and yellow truck.
He will be fondly remembered by his special friends and helpers, Jimmy, Sherry, his neighbors in "Old Town" and the gang at the Erie Conoco. The West Coast Staffords truly appreciate the love and caring of his Colorado 'family'. He will be buried in the family plot at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, in Erie. No services are planned at this time. Howe Mortuary and Cremation Services in Longmont is handling arrangements.
Darrell L. Beck, Sr.

Darrell L. Beck, Sr. died November 11, 2007 at his residence. He was 97.
Darrell was born on September 5, 1910 in Atlantic, Iowa to Jesse Beck and Mary Burris Beck. He was raised in Atlantic and graduated from Atlantic High School. He attended the Pella College one year before returning to the family businesses during the depression. He farmed and ran the local auto dealership with his father in Atlantic.
On August 3, 1935 he married Cecilia Pogge in Omaha, Nebraska.
During WWII, Darrell went to work with the Bomber Plant in Omaha, Nebraska. He was an expediter, securing metal for B-29 manufacturing. He then went to work for General Motors Finance Services, structuring loans for the heavy truck division. In addition, Darrel was an experimental driver for General Motors. He was provided with a new test vehicle quarterly to pilot new engines, mechanics, and lubricants before they were implemented to the market place.
After years of travel and time from his home, he embarked on a career in financial services. He went to work for the Associates, a finance company, largely providing loans for business and homes. He managed a number of offices in the west and Midwest for a number of years before retiring from the company.
Darrell then opened his own finance company in Longmont, Arrow Loan and Finance. He provided both business and personal loans to the community until his retirement in 1975.
Darrell was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and a life member of the Benevolent Protective Order of Elks, #1055, Longmont. He enjoyed fishing and traveling, traversing the entire continental United States in his automobile. He was proud to have attended the Indianapolis 500 with his father and sister in 1932.
Preceding him in death were his wife and three sisters.
Surviving are his son Darrell, Jr. and his wife Danielle of Longmont; three daughters Mary Pasco and her husband Lew of Westminster, CO, Martha Southworth and her husband Robert of Lake Bay, Washington, and Beverly Pol and her husband Jose of Seattle, Washington; 14 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren.
At his request, his body has been donated to science.
Memorial services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, November 15, 2007 at the Howe Mortuary Chapel, with Reverend Mickey Flaska officiating. Elks Ritual Services will be performed by B.P.O.E. #1055.

Robert Dale Crabb

Robert Crabb of Longmont died at the Hospice Care Center in Louisville on November 7, 2007. He was 80.
Robert was born September 7, 1927 in Genoa, Colorado to Harry and Matilda (Treptoe) Crabb. He was one of eleven children. Robert grew up and attended school in Genoa and was a farmer until he moved to the Longmont area in 1952. Robert married Opal M. Bennett September 5, 1948 in Lafayette, Colorado.
Mr. Crabb was a brick maker and worked for Colorado Brick for 30 years. He was an avid bowler, was a handyman who did many of the projects that needed fixed on the farm and at home, and was a wood worker. He made birdhouses and macramé chairs along with many other wood products.
His parents, six brothers, four sisters and a daughter, Rhonda Crabb, preceded Robert in death. His wife Opal; a son, Dale Crabb and his wife Judy of Milliken, Colorado; six grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren survive him.
Visitation will be at Howe Mortuary on Tuesday, November 13 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 14 at Howe Mortuary with Chaplain Dana Solomon officiating. Burial will follow at Foothills Gardens of Memory.

C.A. Dry
Born in Winters, Texas on Apr. 17, 1921

Cherry Allen 'C.A' Dry, formerly of Winters, Texas died at Longmont United Hospital in Longmont, CO on November 8, 2007. He was 86. He had moved to Firestone, CO in September.
Cherry was born April 17, 1921 in Winters to John Ray and Dora Elizabeth (Williamson) Dry. He graduated from Winters High School in 1941 and Southwest School of printing in Dallas. C.A. was married to Dorris Evelyn Attaway, of Winters, who preceded him in death in 1974. He married Linda Lee Sewell Henderson on October 15, 1976 in Kingsland, Texas.
Mr. Dry was an entrepreneur who, with his father J.R. and brother John founded several manufacturing companies in Winters and Abilene, Texas, Their last endeavor, Dry Manufacturing, Inc., is now Selkirk/Airmate, and remains the largest employer in the area. He was also a rancher who owned ranches in Coleman and Runnels Counties in Texas and Grand Junction, CO. He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Winters, The Lions Club, Kingsland Country Club, Winters Country Club, and Winters Rodeo Association. He worked with Boy Scouts of America and the T-Ball programs. He served as director of the Novice Independent School District and as president of the U.S. Navy 73rd Seabee Association. On January 29, 2000, C.A. was awarded 'Man of the Centry' by the Winters Area Chamber of Commerce.
Mr. Dry was preceded in death by his parents and first wife; three sons: David, James, and Jeff Dry; three brothers: John, Hal, and Charles Dry; and one sister, Arlie Hickman.
He is survived by his wife Linda of Firestone, CO; two sons: Joel Dry and wife Martha of Phoenix, AZ and Jason Dry of Denver, CO; three daughters: Beverly Dry of Austin, Betty Rogers of Henderson, and Cheri Dirksen and husband Jay of Firestone, CO; nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Arrangements have been performed by Howe Mortuary in Longmont, CO. Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2007 at the First Baptist Church in Winters, TX with Pastor Barry Taylor officiating. The family will have a private burial.
Gary 'Slim' Spurling

Gary "Slim" Spurling, age 69, crossed over on November 12, 2007 in his home in Erie, Colorado.
Slim was a remarkable man, who committed his life to Restoring the Health of the Environment and Mankind. He began practicing the ancient art of dowsing in 1970 and found a very simple and inexpensive method of neutralizing Geopathic stress. Slim was an internationally recognized expert in the art of dowsing; and gave seminars in the U.S, Canada, Europe, South America and South Africa on dowsing and application of the Light-Life™ Technology. His inventions are used worldwide to reduce air pollution, improve the quality of agriculture and peoples lives.
He was loved and respected by the people whose lives he has touched. He will be missed greatly.
His life's work will continue on through his wife, Katharina Spurling-Kaffl of Bavaria, Germany, and his devoted employees and friends. Other members of Slim's family include his sister, Noralle McRobbins of Australia, his sons, Jody and Jay Spurling, five grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Evelyn (Thompson) Spurling.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Sunday, November 18, 2007 at Howe Mortuary, Longmont.

Martha Marie Severson, 77, of Longmont, Colorado died on November 11, 2007 in Longmont, Colorado. She was born May 4, 1930 in St. Francis, Kansas.
Martha graduated from Longmont High School in 1947 and retired from U.S. West after 34 years of service. She most recently worked at the Colorado Call Center in Longmont.
Dearly loved and sadly missed , Martha is survived by her daughters, Joleen K. Terry and husband Bill of Loveland, Colo., Scharleen Citron-Funk and husband Brad of Longmont, and Patricia S. Kramer of Firestone, Colo.; sons William A.
Kramer and wife Wendy of Longmont, and Gregory A. Kramer of Longmont. She is also survived by 6 grand children, Dana Juenemann and husband Derrick of Seledn, Kansas, Kipp Terry of Lakewood, Colo., Kirk Terry of Loveland, Kimberley VanDyke and husband Shane of Longmont, Sara Price and husband Neal of Longmont, and Ashley Belka of Reno, Nevada; Great grandchildren Sierra Price, Tristan, Makayla, and Nevaeh VanDyke all of Longmont, as well as her brother, H. John Kramer, Jr. and Mary and their family of Virginia.
