David Flanery 1934 - 2006

David D. Flanery of Eckert died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at his home. He was 72.

A funeral service will be held Friday, Feb. 17, at 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Burial of the cremains will follow at Delta City Cemetery.

Mr. Flanery was born Jan. 8, 1934, in Dekalb, Texas, to Hiram Terrel and Maudie Rachel (Lienberger) Flanery. He spent his childhood and attended school in Texas and Arkansas.

He served in the United States Army during World War II as a sergeant.

Mr. Flanery married Amelia Elisa “Lisa” Gomez. They lived in Portland, Ore., for several years before moving to Delta in 1990. She preceded him in death.

He was a carpenter. He enjoyed painting, mechanics, playing his guitar and spending time with his friends and family.

Mr. Flanery is survived by two sons, Patrick Flanery of Delta, and Phillip Flanery of Portland, Ore.; two brothers - in - law, Richard Gomez of Delta, and Daniel Gomez of Grand Junction; three sisters - in - law, Hope Gomez, Margarita Salazar and Josie Diaz, all of Delta; an aunt, Willey Rudolph of Montrose; an uncle, Lester Flanery of Texas; two grandchildren, Ernie and Joseph; two great - grandchildren, Marcos and Alexis; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Flanery was preceded in death by his wife, Amelia Flanery; two sisters, Ruby and Joyce; and a brother, Claude.

Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory is handling the arrangements.

Mark Fuller 1947 - 2006

Mark A. Fuller of Delta died of complications from quadriplegia Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, at Montrose Memorial Hospital. He was 58.

Mr. Fuller was born Oct. 1, 1947, in San Jose, Calif., to Glenn and Violet (Hannan) Fuller.

He served in the Army during the Vietnam era.

Mr. Fuller married Susie Webber on Nov. 28, 1970, in Hayward, Calif. She survives.

He worked at the Office Machine Sales & Technical Services in Montrose for many years. He enjoyed the outdoors. He was paralyzed in 1995 as the result of a mountain bike accident. He believed the only real disability in life was a bad attitude.

Mr. Fuller is survived by his wife, Susie Fuller; his mother, Violet Fuller of Eckert; three sons, Andy Fuller and his wife Melissa of Redondo Beach, Calif., Matt Fuller of Broomfield, and Phil Fuller and his wife Julie of Golden; and a brother and his wife, Edward and Nancy Fuller of Los Gatos, Calif.

He was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Fuller.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church in Delta.

Memorial contributions may be made to Craig Hospital Foundation, 3425 S. Clarkson Street, Englewood, CO 80113, or online at www.craighospital.org. These funds will be used in the research of spinal cord injuries and treatment of paralysis.

Robert Gray 2006

Robert V. Gray of Cedaredge died Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 47.

A funeral service will be held Thursday, Feb. 16, at 1 p.m. at Veterans Memorial Cemetery of Western Colorado in Grand Junction.

Mr. Gray was an auto mechanic.

He is survived by two sons, Blake Gray and Carter Gray, both of Golden; two daughters, Jolie Gray and Alana Gray, both of Golden; his parents, Lynn and Mary Gray of Cedaredge; and a sister, Teri Gray of Golden.

Memorial contributions may be made to our troops in Iraq, c/o VFW Post #3571, P.O. Box 347, Delta, CO 81416.

Carol May 2006

Carol May, formerly of Eastlake and Crawford, died Saturday, Feb. 11, 2006, in New Oxford, Pa. She was 87.

Mrs. May graduated from Crawford High School in 1936.

She worked for School District 12 in Adams County for 24 years, retiring in 1980. In 1985 she moved to Emmitsburg, Pa., to be close to her daughter. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and spending time with her family.

Mrs. May is survived by a daughter and her husband, Shirley and Don Morris of Emmitsburg, Md.; a stepson and his wife, Donald and Marva Lea of Grand Junction; seven grandchildren, Kirk Morris and his wife Cheryl of Fairfield, Pa., Kristine Kraus and her husband Mike of Oviedo, Fla., Kathi Efland and her husband Steve of Winterspring, Fla., Laurie Fonay and her husband Gary of Hobbs, N.M., Carolyn Brown of La Veta, Greg May of Denver, and Doug May and his wife Chris of Grand Junction; and 15 great - grandchildren.

Mrs. May was preceded in death by her husband, Boyd May; three sisters and their husbands, Naomi and Milton Wyatt, Lenna and Frank McQueary and Virginia and Otis Porter; and three brothers, Donald Bear, Lynn Bear and his wife Evelyn and William “Billy” Bear.

A funeral service will be held Saturday, Feb. 18, at 10 a.m. at the First Congregational Church of Eastlake. A private interment will be held at a later date at Crown Hill Cemetery in Wheatridge.

J.B. Stone 1925 - 2006

J.B. Stone of Hotchkiss died Tuesday, Feb. 14, 2006, at his home. He was 80.

Services are pending.

J.B. Stone was born May 16, 1925, in Moberly, Mo., to Jesse B. and Dollie W. Stone. He spent his childhood in Moberly, Mo.

He served in the 29th Infantry Division during World War II. They landed on Normandy on D Day June 6, and fought across France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He received many medals including the Orange Combat Infantry Badge, Silver Star, Bronze Star, four Battle Stars, two citations and the Purple Heart with oak leaf cluster. He was wounded twice, the last time severe enough to be sent home.

Mr. Stone married Darlene Stone on Nov. 14, 1945. They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 1995. She preceded him in death.

He was a house painter. He was a member of the First Baptist Church, and a life member of DAV, VFW, Hotchkiss Elks Lodge #1807 and the Purple Heart Club. He served as mayor of Hotchkiss in the late 60s and in the middle 70s as a councilman. He was a fireman for 12 years, serving as president of the fire board for a number of years.

Mr. Stone is survived by four daughters, Janice, Carol, Terry and Deana.

Eileen Theresa Malinowski 1957 - 2006

Eileen Theresa Malinowski of Delta died Sunday, March 19, 2006, at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 49.
Mrs. Malinowski was born Jan. 13, 1957, in Englewood, to Eldon and Joyce Lyneis. She spent her childhood in Westminster, and graduated from Westminster High School.
She married Ricky A. Malinowski on Jan. 17, 1974, in Denver. He survives.
Mrs. Malinowski was a homemaker and a CNA for many years at Delta County Memorial Hospital. She enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Rick Malinowski of Delta; her daughter, Susan; a daughter - in - law, Linda Kirkpatrick of Billings, Mont., her daughter and son - in - law, Sarah and Scot Keenan of Oklahoma; her son, Eric Malinowski; her daughter - in - law Jolene Malinowski; her parents, Joyce and Eldon Lyneis of Cedaredge; two sisters, Kathy Rowbal of Nebraska, and Julie McFall of Thornton; two brothers, Mark Lyneis of Westminster, and Dale Lyneis of Thornton; three grandchildren, Mariah, Hailey and Jade Malinowski; and two grandchildren on the way.
A memorial service was held Thursday, March 23, at Montrose Valley Funeral Home.

Carroll "Pink" Sanburg - 2006

Carroll “Pink” Sanburg died Saturday, March 18, 2006, at Colorow Care Center in Olathe. He was 93.
A graveside service was held March 25 at Valley Lawns Cemetery.
Mr. Sanburg is survived by his children, Monte Sanburg and his wife Shirley, Willis “Bill” Sanburg and his wife Thera, Doreene Gerle and her husband Robert, all of Montrose, and Sandra Whitton and her husband Richard of Cedaredge.
Montrose Valley Funeral Home handled the arrangements.

Robert Anderson 1919 - 2006

Robert Anderson of Grand Junction, formerly of Hotchkiss, died Friday, April 21, 2006, at Community Hospital in Grand Junction. He was 86.

No services are planned at this time.

Mr. Anderson was born May 10, 1919, in Rockford, Ill., to Henning and Elvira (Wilmer) Anderson. He spent his childhood in Rockford, Ill., and graduated from Rockford Sr. High School in 1937.

He served in the United States Army during World War II.

Mr. Anderson married Jean Doty on Sept. 28, 1941, in Pecatonica, Ill. She died Nov. 5, 1995, in Hotchkiss.

Mr. Anderson was an owner/operator of a machine shop. He enjoyed collecting coins and spending time with his family. He lived in Detroit, Mich., before moving to Delta for two years and then to Hotchkiss in 1972.

He is survived by his companion, Dolores Baxter of Hotchkiss; a daughter, Carol Ann Bauch and her husband Davis of Pecatonica, Ill.; three grandchildren; and two great - grandchildren.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Anderson; and a sister, Vesta.

Taylor Funeral Service and Crematory handled the arrangements.

Duane Barker - 2006

Duane M. Barker of Grand Junction, formerly of Delta died Saturday, April 22, 2006, in Grand Junction. He was 52.

A memorial service will be held Friday, May 5, at 2 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta, with James Gall officiating.

Mr. Barker is survived by two sons, William J. Barker and his wife Amber of Grand Junction, and Bruce O. Barker of Eckert; a stepson, Mike Gartner of Austin; two stepdaughters, Danna M. Morrell and husband Daniel of Farson, Wyo., and Deanne Yinquez of Montrose.

Flora Boyd - 2006

Flora E. Boyd of Delta died Sunday, April 23, 2006, at her home. She was 87.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, April 26, at 3 p.m. at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. Burial will follow at Pea Green Cemetery.

Mrs. Boyd was a homemaker. She was a member of the Church of the First Born for 70 years.

She is survived by two sons, Gerald Boyd of Olathe, and Raymond Boyd and his wife Berta of Pleasant View; two daughters, Twila Boyd and her fiance Larry Gourley of Delta, and Lavelle Burson and her husband Larry of Grand Junction; eight grandchildren; and nine great - grandchildren.
