CAMERON
Funeral services for Margaret Joan Osten Cameron, 80 of Lakin, Kan., and former longtime resident of La Junta will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 12, at the Peacock Memorial Chapel wth Ministers Jim Price and Tim Chung officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery
in La Junta. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Friday, April 11, at Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home.
Mrs. Cameron died Monday, April 7, 2008, at the High Plains Retirement Village.
She was born in Dunedin, New Zealand, on Aug. 1, 1927, to Richard and Lydia (Robertson) Osten. She married Donald Cameron, an American soldier serving in the Pacific, in Wellington, New Zealand, on April 30, 1946. He preceded her in death on Jan. 20, 1997. After a short time together in New Zealand, they came to America where they lived in Washington, California, and Arizona. From the summer of 1947 until the fall of 2006 they lived in eastern Colorado in Pritchett, Las Animas, and La Junta. Their sons, Karl David Cameron and Edward Jake Cameron were both born while they lived on the farm near Pritchett.
She is survived by her son Karl (Sandy) Cameron of Lakin, Kan., daughter-in-law Shirley Cameron of Boise City, Okla.; brother William (Janet) Osten of Auckland, New Zealand; three grandsons and their wives; one granddaughter, Jennifer Cameron; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Donald Cameron of 51 years; her youngest son Edward Jake Cameron, and her parents.

VIGIL
Arnold “Arny” Victor Vigil, 48, of La Junta passed away on Thursday, April 10, 2008 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be Monday, April 14th from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be on Tuesday, April 15, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the Funeral mass at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with father Mario Murillo officiating.
He was born on July 15, 1959 in Durango, Mexico to Jose G. Vargas & Maria J. Vasquez.
Arnold graduated from La Junta High School class of 1980. He was a die hard fan of the Oakland Raiders and loved sports. He also enjoyed taking pictures and he also loved hanging out with his friends and partying.
He is survived by his mother Maria Vigil of La Junta; stepfather Refujio Lopez of La Junta; daughters Roberta Apodaca, Arnell (Gabriel) Caro, Leticia Vigil and Starr Apodaca all of Pueblo; mother of his children Bonnie Perez; grandchildren Dominik, Alex, Maliah and Estaban all of Pueblo; goddaughter Chasity Archuleta of La Junta; sisters Maria (Mel) Estrada of La Junta; Monica (Daniel) Mendoza of Denver; Dora (Larry) Lopez of La Junta; Celia Villa of Liberal, KS; Suki Vega of Liberal, KS; step-sister Bella Vigil of Pueblo; brother Joe Vega of Liberal, KS; step-brothers Kenny Vigil of La Junta; Paul (Natalie) Vigil of Denver; Ernie (Karen) Vigil of La Junta; Oliver (Stella) Vigil of Colorado Springs and Clarence (Sarah) Vigil of Mora, NM; nieces and nephews Lorraine (Shannon) Trujillo, Sonia (Gustavo) Vasquez, Crystal Estrada, Rey Mendoza, Amy Mendoza, Luis Mendoza, Krysten Lopez, Karlos Vasquez, Brennon Trujillo, Neesa Vasquez, Khrystian Vasquez, Brendon Trujillo, Jeremy Romero, II, Kailee Trujillo, Alexa Romero, several cousin also survive and he is also survived by his best friend Sandra Flores. Vigil, 72, of Rocky Ford will be on Tuesday, April 8, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. followed by the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with father Jude Egbuna officiating. Visitation will be Monday, April 7 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
Mrs. Vigil died April 4, 2008 at the Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.
She was born on Dec. 26, 1935 in Las Vegas, N.M., to Antonio and Lucia (Salazar) Salas. She married Megirio Vigil, Jr. on Aug. 8, 1961 in La Junta. He preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 2005.
She worked for many years as a housekeeper with the Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center and also at the Pioneer Healthcare Center.
She is survived by her children Frances Montez-Vondersmith of Pueblo; Mary Crusita (David) Werick-Montez of Las Animas; Barbara Gloria Montez of Oklahoma; Michael (Christina) Salas of Rocky Ford; Megirio (Arlene) Vigil, III of Pueblo; Joseph (Rania) Vigil of Pueblo; Gerald Vigil of Rocky Ford; Roger Vigil of Rocky Ford; Lisa (Vince) Vigil of Rocky Ford; brother Antonio Salas, Jr. of Lawton, Okla. Twenty-two grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren also survive.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Manuel Montez, Jr., brother John Salas and sister Mary Crucita Salas.

ROMERO
Rosary service for Oley Romero, 81, of Rocky Ford will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 16, with the funeral Mass at 10 a.m. both at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Rocky Ford with Father Mario Murillo officiating. Burial will be at Fort Lyon National Cemetery
with American Legion Post No. 8 of Rocky Ford performing the services.
Mr. Romero died April 10, 2008, at his home in Rocky Ford.
He was born May 14, 1926, at Rocky Ford to Juan Romero and Camilla (Johnson) Romero. He married Betty Corrales on Aug. 21, 1950, at Raton, N.M.
He served in the U.S. Marine Corp during World War II. He was a sharpshooter and was with the invasion of Iwo Jima. He was honorably discharged with a purple heart, bronze star and good conduct metals. After his marriage to Betty, the family moved to El Monte, Calif. He worked as a printer for ABC Badge Company retiring after 32 years. The family then moved back to Rocky Ford 15 years ago.
He is survived by his children Samuel Romero of Rocky Ford, Rick Romero of Rocky Ford, Odessa (Jesus) Romero of California, Dana (Carla) Romero of Rocky Ford and Jerry (Regina) Ruiz of California, numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers Sam Romero of Washington and John Romero of Arizona; sisters Cora Hastings of Oakland, Calif., and Mary Schmelzer of New Mexico; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Betty; sons Danny and Anthony Romer; sisters Abelina Santisteven, Mary Romero and brothers Martin Romero and Abraham Romero.

CLARK
Funeral services for Sterling D. Clark, DVM, 86, of Fowler will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at the Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Josephson officiating. Burial will be at the Fowler Cemetery. The family will receive their friends at the funeral home from 7 to 8 p.m. on Friday. A viewing will be held at the funeral home from 8 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Saturday.
Dr. Clark died April 21, 2008 at his home in Fowler.
He was born in Fowler on Oct. 7, 1921 to Garry Ernest Clark and Alice Doertenbach. He married Shirley Josephine Zobel on Feb. 5, 1944.
He is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Shirley J. Clark of the family home, daughter, Sharlene (Marvin) Pekny of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son, Sidney W. Clark of Fort Collins, two grandchildren and two great-grandsons. He is also survived by one brother, one sister, 10 nephews and one niece.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Stanley G. Clark on May 9, 1965 and his sister Lorraine Sigler.

FRANTZ
A memorial service for David L. Frantz, 60, of La Junta will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, April 28, at Ustick Donelson Johnson Funeral Home in Rocky Ford with Pastor Wallace Kurtz officiating. At his request there was cremation.
Mr. Frantz died April 23, 2008, at Pioneer Health Care Center in Rocky Ford.
He was born June 15, 1947, in La Junta to Lawrence and Lucille (Ritthaler) Frantz. He was raised in Rocky Ford and attended school in Rocky Ford graduating from Rocky Ford High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in Korea. He worked with Wilson Plumbing and Heating in La Junta for 10 years before he opened his own plumbing and heating company.
He is survived by his son Richard Frantz of La Junta, grandchildren Katelynn Frantz and Hailey Davidson; brother Gene Frantz of Rocky Ford; sister Nancy (Gene) Schreckhise of Kennewick, Wash., and nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.

HASUI
Funeral service for James N. Hasui, 81, lifetime resident of Las Animas, will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the First Methodist Church in Las Animas. Graveside service will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday at the Hillcrest Cemetery
in Rocky Ford with military honors by VFW Post #2411.
Mr. Hasui died April 19, 2008, at the Bent County Healthcare Center.
He was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Las Animas to Kazuyoshi and Kinue Murakami Hasui. He was involved in produce farming for many years just northeast of Las Animas. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict era, serving in the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Japanese American Citizenship League.
He is survived by his sons Glenn K. (Brenda) Hasui and Bryan K. Hasui, both of Las Animas; sisters Naomi Yamane of Olympia, Wash., Azusa Yoshiyoka of El Cerrito, Calif., and Yoshimi Watada of Boulder; seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Stanley and Maikado and grandson Zach.

HUNTER
A memorial service will be held at a later date for Darrell Dean “Fish” Hunter, 47, of La Junta who died April 16, 2008 in a single car accident south of Kim. At his request there was cremation.
He was born to Raymond Earl Hunter and Florence Viola (McGown) Hunter Oct. 6, 1960.
He grew up in La Junta and graduated from La Junta High School in 1979. He married Linda Louise Barnes April 22, 1989 at La Junta. He worked as a welder for the ATSF & BNSF Railways most of his adult life. He enjoyed welding, hunting, fishing, and other outdoor activities with his family and friends.
He is survived by his father Raymond (Iona) Hunter of Colorado Springs; daughters Cortney Falin Hunter and Shaina Linnea Hunter both of La Junta; sister Janet (Tim) McManis of Towanda, Kan.; brother Keith (Shirley) Hunter of Kenton, Okla.; sisters Syble Blocker of Mtn. Home, Ark.; Barbara (Charles) Wagner of Monte Vista; Nettie Morley of Cheraw; Martha (Ron) Sales of Grand Junction; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother Florence V. Hunter and nephews James A. Sales and Bruce A. Bickel.

OTERO
Funeral Mass for Arthur L. “Shorty” Otero, 82, of La Junta will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Jude Egbuna officiating. Recitation of the Holy Rosary was held on Monday at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish.
Mr. Otero died April 19, 2008, at Bent County Healthcare Center.
He was born Aug. 25, 1925, in New Kirk, N.M., to Agapito and Sofia (Pacheco) Otero. He married Socorro Baca in Las Vegas, N.M., in 1947.
He worked for the city of La Junta and also worked in construction.
He is survived by his daughters Maria E. “Helen” Otero-Medina of La Junta; Linda (Charlie) Guerrero of Ft. Lupton; son Raymond (Margaret) Otero of Pueblo; daughter-in-law Barbara Otero of Pueblo; grandchildren Anthony Romero, Michael Romero, Laya Quintara; Ericka Quintara, Mark Anthony Otero, Jolene Otero, Pam Zapien, Thomas Otero, Joseph Otero, and Amanda Otero; children that Art helped raise Lela Tafoya of Kansas; Ron and Nico Raso of La Junta. Fourteen great-grandchildren also survive.
He was preceded in death by his wife.

STONE
A memorial service for John Alden Stone of Dodge City, Kan., will be held at Swaim Funeral Home on Thursday, April 24, at 10:30 a.m. with the Rev. Dick Robbins presiding. Inurnment will follow the service at Kansas Veterans Cemetery
at Ft. Dodge with military rites provided by Howard Gotschall V.F.W. Post #1714.
Mr. Stone died April 19, 2008, at Western Plains Medical Complex at Dodge City, Kan.
He was born Jan. 5, 1933, at Scottsbluff, Neb., the son of Pearl and Minnie (Whitaker) Stone.
He attended schools in Scottsbluff, Neb., graduating from Scottsbluff High School in 1951. He then attended the University of Wyoming, earning a bachelor of science degree in business in 1956. Following graduation he served in the U.S. Army.
On March 19, 1959, he married Ilah R. Bloom in Denver.
He worked as a claims rep and field rep for HHS from 1960 to 1989, retiring from the Dodge City Office. Prior to that he worked at offices in Boise, Idaho; Ogden, Utah and La Junta.
He is survived by his wife Ilah Stone of Dodge City, Kan., daughter Lisa Stone of Dodge City, Kan., daughter Lori Stone of Haviland, Kan., son David Stone of Denver and brother Warren Stone of Gering, Neb.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers and five sisters.
Memorials can be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association in care of the funeral home.
