BEEBY
Funeral services for Darlene L. Beeby, 76, of Fowler will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 8 at the First Baptist Church in Fowler with Rev. Fred Allen officiating. Burial will be at Fort Lyon National Cemetery
beside her husband. She died Sept. 2 at Fowler Health Care Center, where she had resided for several years.
She was born Sept. 10, 1927 in La Junta to Orrie and Hazel Goudy. She was married to Benjamin Beeby on March 23, 1946 in Garden City, Kan. She was a housewife and homemaker and had worked at the nursing home for several years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Fowler.
Mrs. Beeby is survived by three children, Victor, Scott and Sandra; and seven grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband on July 24, 1997.

A private family service will be held Sunday for "Baby" Haley Marie Reynolds, who was born and entered into rest on Sept. 8, 2004 at Presbyterian St. Luke Hospital in Denver. She is survived by her parents, Scott and Lisa Reynolds of Cheraw; her brother, Scott Reynolds Jr. of Cheraw; grandparents Eugene and Sharon Reynolds of Cheraw, Gary Oberlander of Las Animas and Stella Estabrooks of Golden; great-grandparents Jack and Jean Reynolds of Kendal, Kan., Fay Oberlander and Irene Estabrooks of Las Animas and great-grandmother Maggie Bradford of Las Animas. She is preceded in death by her great-grandparents, Ben and Pauline Shackleford, great-grandfathers Paul Esterbrooks and Ray Oberlander.

Graveside services for Austyn James Dudley, the infant son of Frank and Candi Dudley of La Junta and formerly of Lamar, will be Tuesday, Sept. 14 at 10 a.m. at Calvary Cemetery
in La Junta. He passed away Sept. 6, 2004 at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs.
He was born Aug. 29, 2004 in Colorado Springs to Frank John and Candi Lee (Tuttle) Dudley, Sr.
Austyn is survived by his parents of La Junta, brothers and sisters Kayleigh Dudley, Frank Dudley Jr. and Micheline Dudley, all of Texas; grandparents David and Micheline Dudley of La Junta and Brenda Gale of Penacook, N.H., and several aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Franklin Gale, Jr.

Graveside services for Betty J. Brown, 72, of La Junta will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 11 at Fairview Cemetery
in La Junta with Kenneth Brown of Penrose officiating. She died Sept. 7, 2004 in Pueblo. Born May 19, 1932 in Brandon to Wriley and Lois B. (Wheltley) McMichael, she moved to the La Junta area when she was small and graduated from La Junta High School. She worked for Mountain Bell before her marriage to John Wesley "Wes" Brown on Feb. 21, 1952 in New Mexico. She worked in the Koshare Kiva gift shop during the late 60s and early 70s. She enjoyed volunteer work and driving meals on wheels.
Mrs. Brown is survived by her son, Paul Wesley (Martha) Brown of Pueblo and daughter, Susan (Scott Ingram) Brown of Austin, Texas; a grandson, Jeffrey Wesley Brown of Pueblo; brothers Quentin (Joy) McMichael of Greeley and John (Lannie) McMichael of Roxborough Park; a sister-in-law, Jean McMichael of Denver, and numerous nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband in 1996, and a brother, Dean McMichael.

HILL
At her request, there will be no services for Lena L. Hill, 92, a longtime La Junta resident. She died Sept. 9, 2004 at Arkansas Valley Regional Nursing Care Center. There was cremation.
Born Jan. 21, 1912 in Caney, Kan. to John L. and Sadie Janet (Harris) Downey, she moved to Caddoa with her family in 1921. At the age of 20 Mrs. Hill moved to the La Junta-Las Animas area. After her marriage to James H. "Jim" Hill in 1944 in Raton, N.M., the couple moved to Bakerfield, Calif. for seven years and then back to La Junta. Mrs. Hill was a waitress at many different establishments throughout the La Junta area. She retired in 1976.
Mrs. Hill is survived by her brother and sisters, Ival Downey, Alta Banta and Gladys Cathcart, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her first husband, Ed Banta, her second husband, Jim Hill, brothers Lester Lindsay and Harvey Downey and sisters Laura "Babe" Adkins, Irene Miller and Norma Proctor.
Memorial donations may be made to the Arkansas Valley Hospice Association, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Foundation.

Rosary service for Kai James Lucero, the infant son of Jaime and Nancy (Lopez) Lucero of Westminster, will be at 6 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13 with the Mass of Angels to be at 10 a.m. Sept. 14 with Father Paul Montez officiating. Both services will be from St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford. Kai died Sept. 7, 2004 in Denver.

He is survived by his parents; his brother, Seth James Lucero of Westminster; grandparents Gloria Lopez of La Junta, Cindy Masias-Cordova of Rocky Ford and Joe Lucero of Phoenix, Ariz.; great-grandfather Joe Masias of Rocky Ford, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.

CLAYCOMB
A family visitation in rememberance of Lou "Pete" Claycomb will be Sept. 18, 2004 at 2 p.m. in the North La Junta Community Center. He died Aug. 20, 2004. He was born in Guymon, Okla. on Feb. 18, 1930.
Mr. Claycomb is survived by his wife, Marilyn, and sons Chris and Clark.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Church of God (special fund), 901 Carson Ave., La Junta, 81050 or the Arkansas Valley Hospice.
This remembrance is being planned by the family.
SCHEDLBAUER-DOUGLASS
Funeral services for Nona Dee Schedlbauer-Douglass, 80, of Miama, Fla. and a longtime resident of La Junta will be at the Church of Christ in La Junta on Saturday, Sept. 18 at 10 a.m. with Evangelist Danny Aragon officiating. Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. She died Sept. 7, 2004 in Miami. Born Jan. 19, 1924 in La Junta to John and Sally (Dawson) Royse, she graduated from high school in La Junta in 1941. Following her marriage to Al Schedlbauer on June 22, 1941 in La Junta, the couple moved to Chickasha, Okla. where Al was a flight instructor. In 1945 they moved back to La Junta and Mrs. Schedlbauer worked at the Otero County Treasurer's office and was a district court clerk for many years, retiring in the 1960s. Mr. Schedlbauer died Jan. 30, 1996 and she later married Dale Douglass, who now resides in Colorado Springs. She was a longtime member of the Church of Christ.
Mrs. Schedlbauer-Douglass is survived by her husband, Dale; her son, Alan (Evelyn Velez) Schedlbauer of Miama; grandson Alan Schedlbauer, II of New Jersey; brothers Richard Lloyd Royse of Colorado Springs and John Royse of Dallas, Texas and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her first husband, her parents, a brother, Elbert Royse and sisters Iva Ward and Rose Bain. Back to top

GREGORY
A service of remembrance for Perry F. Gregory, Jr., 74, of La Junta and formerly of Crowley county, will be at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 20 at the La Junta Church of Christ with Danny Aragon officiating. At Mr. Gregory's request, cremation has taken place at the Southern Colorado Crematory in Pueblo. He died Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center's nursing home.
He was born Dec. 11, 1929 in Lacine, Kan. to Perry F. Gregory Sr. and Loma Holman Gregory. He was a truck driver for R.D. Lewis for many years and had also worked as a cowboy for various area farmers, ranchers and feed lots.
Mr. Gregory is survived by his wife, Ruth E. Gregory and his daughter, Gloria Cahill, both of La Junta; a brother, George (Loretta) Gregory of Fort Lyon, grandchildren Robert, Ruth, Mark and George Cahill, all of La Junta, and Michael Barton of Sterling. There are also four-great grandchildren to survive him.

KINGERY
Services will be held at a later date for Margaret G. Kingery, 100, of Del Norte and formerly of La Junta. She died Tuesday, Sept. 21 at the San Juan Care Center in Del Norte. She was born to Gordon and Anna (Thompson) Courtland in Anadarko, Okla. on Jan. 7, 1904. She met Herman M. Kingery and they were married on Dec. 17, 1962. She was a member of the Pilot Club in La Junta and the owner manager of the Kingery's Women's Department Store here. She enjoyed knitting, crocheting, cooking, entertaining and gardening where everything would grow. She was a steward of the land and a preservationist, as well as known to always be there for her friends. She had been in South Fork since 1970 until she moved into the care center.
Mrs. Kingery is survived by her children, George T. (Joan) Kingery and Bertha K. (Fred) Mahe, 11 grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren as well as nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, two children: Bettye and Bobby, and one brother.
Cremation was chosen by the family and arrangements were made under the direction of Strohmayer's Funeral Home in Monte Vista.
POWERS
Funeral services for William "Bill" Powers, 74, of Northglenn and a longtime La Junta resident, will be on Saturday, Oct. 2 at 10 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be Friday, Oct. 1 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Peacock-Larsen Funeral Home. Mr. Powers died Sept. 20, 2004 in Northglenn.

SHRIVER
Graveside services for John Orville Shriver, 76, of Las Animas will be at Fort Lyon National Cemetery
on Friday, Sept. 24 at 10 a.m. with military honors conferred by VFW Post No. 2411. Mr. Shriver died Monday, Sept. 20, 2004 at his Las Animas home.
He was born March 7, 1928 in Las Animas to John H. and Hazel C. Barnhart Shriver. He was married to Dolline Myers on Oct. 25, 1963 in Lamar. Mr. Shriver was a lifetime Las Animas resident and worked in farming throughout his life. He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Shriver is survived by his sons, Edward Shriver of Garden City, Kan. and Orville Shriver of Norton, Kan.; daughters Alvira (Rod) Loya of Compton, Calif., Leora May (Lee) Havens of Garden City, Kan. and Alida Dawn (Carl) Potter of Yates Center, Kan.; 13 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; brothers Melvin Shriver and Clarence Shriver, both of Las Animas, Richard (Janet) Shriver of La Junta and Harry Shriver of Pueblo; one sister, Barbara (Wayne) Weirich of Eads and sister-in-law Janet Shriver of La Junta. He was preceded in death by his brother, David, and four grandchildren.

Funeral Mass for Armando G. Reyes, 82, of Rocky Ford will be at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 24 at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Paul Montez officiating. Rosary Service will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23, also at St. Peter's. Interment will be in Valley View Cemetery
in Rocky Ford. Visitation will be until 6 p.m. today (Sept. 22) and from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 23. Mr. Reyes died Sept. 20 at his home in Rocky Ford.
He was born on Nov. 16, 1921 in El Paso, Texas to John L. and Romona (Gomez) Reyes. He married Carmen Olmedo on Feb. 23, 1946 in Raton, N.M. Mr. Reyes served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He worked for the city of Rocky Ford from 1948 to 1983. He retired as supervisor of the street department, and after he retired he did carpentry work around the home. He loved to play the scratch lottery and was very lucky at winning. He also liked to cook and to read. He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford.
Mr. Reyes is survived by his wife, Carmen, of the home; daughters Lucy (Steve) Chavez of Broomfield, Linda (Tony) Lopez of Colorado Springs, Carol (David) Vasquez of Colorado Springs, Irene (Moises) Medina of Rocky Ford, Gloria Martinez of La Junta and Emily (Clyde) Copper of Aurora; 20 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers Henry (Forence) Reyes of Pueblo and Ernest (Joan) Gomez of Sacramento; sisters Esper (Joe) Pequete of Rocky Ford, Adeina Rodriquez ofRocky Ford and Elsie Reyes of California; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Reyes was preceded in death by his parents, and two sons: Gilbert Reyes and Armando Reyes, Jr.

DONELSON
Graveside services for Henry Frank Donelson, 93, of Rocky Ford will be Wednesday, Sept. 29 at 11 a.m. at Hillcrest Cemetery
with the Rev. Wade Long of the First Baptist Church officiating. Visitation will be tonight (Tuesday, Sept. 28) from 4-7 p.m. at Ustick Donelson Johnson Funeral Home. Mr. Donelson died Sept. 26, 2004 at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center. He was born Feb. 9, 1911 on a farm near Hopedale, Ill., the oldest of seven boys born to Fred and Barbara Donelson. He married Martha Frevert on March 6, 1932 at Hopedale. He worked in a lumber yard and grocery store, managed a softball team and worked as an arc welder. He was a catcher on the La Tourneau baseball team.
Mr. Donelson graduated from the American School in Chicago and attended seminary school in Kansas City from 1944-1947. He was in the Baptist ministry from 1947 until his retirement in 1977 when he and Martha moved to Rocky Ford. He lived in Campo during the dust bowl days and served in the pastoral ministry in Eastern Kansas. The Rev. Henry Donelson enjoyed painting, gardening and dominoes as his hobbies.
He is survived by his four children: Evelyn Donelson of Tampa, Fla., Marvin Dean (Nancy) Donelson and Edward (Linda) Donelson of Kansas and Carrol (Milly) Donelson of Rocky Ford; many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; brothers Roy (Carolyn) Donelson of Hopedale, Ill., Paul (Dorothy) Donelson of St. Petersburg, Fla., and William (Vera) Donelson of Bradenton, Fla., sisters-in-law Louella Donelson of Bradenton, Fla., Erdetta Donelson of Collierville, Tenn., and a brother-in-law, Walter (Ruth) Frevert of Illinois. He was preceded in death by his wife, two sons, Loren and infant son Douglas, brothers Ernest and Clarence and his wife Clarice, and a grandson, Chris Donelson.

HARMON
No services will be held at this time for Forest "Frosty" Harmon, 88, of Manzanola. He died at his home on Sept. 26, 2004.
Mr. Harmon was born July 26, 1916 in Holyoke to Walter and Ora Harmon. He lived in Denver for 20 years as an employee of the Department of Agriculture. He retired from there and moved to Manzanola, where he has lived for 25 years. He has been married to his wife, Marie Harmon, for 65 years. Mr. Harmon enjoyed reminiscing about his earlier years on the ranch.
He is survived by his wife of the family home, a son, Leonard Harmon of Manzanola, grandchildren Sherry (Marvin) Houston of Avondale and Patrick Harmon; seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, daughter-in-law Yvonne Harmon and a brother, Aston Harmon.

Funeral services for Nanette Hoover, 76, of La Junta will be on Saturday, Oct. 16 at 10 a.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel in La Junta with the Rev. Gary Zilm of the United Methodist Church officiating. Mrs. Hoover died Oct. 9, 2004 at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, in 1987 and her parents.

Funeral Mass for Ruth "Cuca" Aragon, 72, of La Junta and formerly of Rocky Ford will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe-St. Patrick Parish at 1 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 14 with Father Paul Montez officiating. Vigil for the Deceased will be tonight (Wednesday, Oct. 13) at 6 p.m. Visitation is today (Oct. 13) until 4 p.m. at Ustick Donelson Johnson Funeral Home in Rocky Ford. Mrs. Aragon died Oct. 11, 2004 in La Junta.
She was born July 1, 1932 in Rocky Ford to Ruben and Anita Gonzalez Magdaleno. She married Frank A. Aragon on Jan. 23, 1953 in Rocky Ford. Mrs. Aragon was a homemaker.
Mrs. Aragon is survived by her husband, Frank Aragon of Rocky Ford; children Edward Aragon of Rocky Ford, John (Christy) Aragon of Parker, Bea (Andy) Nunez of La Junta, Lucy (Vincent) Gallegos of La Junta and Gena (Fernando) Ulloa of La Junta; a brother, John Magdaleo of California; grandchildren Aaron, Anthony, Amanda and Andrew Nunez, Edward Aragon, Vince Jr., Chantel and Nicole Gallegos, Jason and Fernando Ulloa, Dawn Collins, Janelle Rusk, Bryan Aragon and Montanna Aragon; great-grandchildren Jalen Aragon, Alexia Nunez, Jaxs Honeycut, , Jaclynn Ulloa, Justin, Kahle, Tristen Collins and Rheianna Rusk. Funeral Mass for Jennie Mata, 80, of Denver and a former resident of La Junta will be Thursday, Oct. 14 at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe-St. Patrick Parish. Rosary will be recited that day at 9:30 a.m. The committal at Calvary Cemetery
will follow the funeral. Mrs. Mata died Friday, Oct. 8, 2004 in Denver.
She was born July 31, 1924 to Hilario and Anastasia Lupe Mata. She was a resident of La Junta for many years and had last resided in Denver with family. Ms. Mata enjoyed watching television.
Ms. Mata is survived by her brothers, Manuel Mata of Ottawa, Ill. and Raymond Mata of Rico, Ariz.; a nephew, Louis Magana of Eugene, Ore.; nieces Hastolia Magana of Los Angeles, Calif., Clyda Magana of Denver and Rebecca Magana of Denver; several great-nephews and nieces, great-great nephews and nieces and great-great-great nephew. She was preceded in death by her father and mother, sisters Hilaria Magana, Lucy Mata, Mary S. Castillo, a brother, Ralph Mata and a nephew, Marcel Magana, Sr.
