Lorraine M. Dybala
July 2, 1929 - October 11, 2003
CEDAREDGE - Longtime Cedaredge resident, Lorraine Margaret Dybala died Saturday, October 11, 2003, at Larchwood Inns Nursing Home in Grand Junction, Colorado. She was 74.
A visitation for family and friends will be held on Friday, October 17th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Cedaredge. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, October 18th at St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Cedaredge. Father Mark Bettinger will preside. Interment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Lorraine Margaret Ramsey was born on July 2, 1929 in Chicago, Illinois to the late Lee C. and Margaret (Spidell) Ramsey. She spent her childhood and attended school in Elmhurst, Illinois.
Lorraine married Thomas Dybala on March 12, 1949 in Chicago, Illinois. He survives. They have resided in Cedaredge for the past 30 years.
Mrs. Dybala was a sign painter. She had also managed apartments. She was a member of St. Philip’s Catholic Church in Cedaredge. She enjoyed dancing, fishing and doing arts and crafts.
Survivor’s include her husband of over 53 years, Thomas Dybala of Cedaredge; two sons: Don Dybala and Tim Dybala both of Cedaredge; three brothers: Jim Ramsey and wife Bert of Elmhurst, IL, Dale Ramsey and wife Peggy of San Jose, CA and Dave Ramsey and wife Mary of Havasu, AZ. She is further survived by seven grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Along with her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Dan Dybala.

Edna L. Myers
October 14, 1917 - October 7, 2003
DELTA - Edna L. Myers, age 85, a resident of Delta for twenty - three years, died on Tuesday, October 7, 2003, at her home in Delta, seven days before her 86th birthday.
Edna L. Burcher, the daughter of William Robert and Lulie Eleanor (Folk) Burcher, was born on October 14, 1917, in Bakersfield, California, where she spent her childhood years, graduated from high school, and grew to adulthood.
On December 13, 1933, Edna entered into marriage and a lifetime partnership with William Thelan Myers at Bakersfield, California. After sharing forty - nine wonderful years of marriage, William preceded Edna in death in 1982.
Prior to her retirement, she was employed as a cook at the Senior Citizen’s Center in Montrose. Edna was a member of the Colona Community Church in Colona and belonged to the San Juan Good Sams. Above all else, Edna loved and enjoyed her family, ceramics and camping. Cherished memories of Edna will always be a part of all those who loved her.
Those grateful to have been a part of Edna’s life include three sons: Robert Myers and wife Pauline of Grand Junction, CO, Terry Myers and wife Myrta of Montrose, CO, and Mike Myers and wife Caren of Delta, CO; two daughters: Betty Myers and Judy West both of Montrose, CO. She is further survived by nineteen grandchildren; thirty - five great - grandchildren, and five great - great - grandchildren.
Edna was preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, William Myers.
A private service in celebration of Edna’s life will be held.

Martha Ellen Swanson
May 12, 1910 - January 22, 2004
PAONIA - Lifetime Paonia resident, Martha Ellen Swanson, died Thursday, January 22, 2004, at Paonia Care and Rehab Center in Paonia, Colorado. She was 93.
A funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Monday, January 26, 2004 at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Paonia, Colorado. James Gall will preside. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery
in Paonia.
Martha Ellen Hallar was born on May 12, 1910, in Paonia, Colorado, to the late Bernie and Pearl (Kurtz) Hallar. She spent her childhood and attended school in Paonia and Bowie. Ellen also attended Western State College. Following graduation, she taught in Collbran, Colorado for three years.
Ellen married Henry Swanson on November 24, 1932, in Paonia, Colorado. He preceded her in death on April 23, 1981 in Delta.
Mrs. Swanson owned and operated Swanson Fruit Farms from 1934 to 1990. She enjoyed rose gardening, pets, sewing and scrap booking. Ellen was a long time member of the Pitkin Mesa Club and the Paonia Chamber of Commerce. She was very involved in the Paonia Cherry Days and was awarded Outstanding Citizen by the Chamber of Commerce in 1975. She was well known for selling fruit and cider. Ellen was a hostess at the visitor center in Paonia, belonged to the North Fork Preservation Historical Society and attended Paonia United Methodist Church.
Those grateful to have shared in Ellen’s life are son, Bob Swanson and wife Carol of Denver, CO; three daughters: Sonja Karen Swanson - O’Connor of Paonia, CO; Fiona Swanson - Sandifer of Paonia, CO and Judy Jones and her husband Tim of Virginia, and a sister, MayDell Workman and husband LeRoy of Grand Junction, CO. She is further survived by eleven grandchildren, ten great - grandchildren with one on the way and several nieces and nephews.
Ellen was preceded in death by her husband, mother, father, step - mother, two brothers, Orie and Glenwood Hallar, and one great granddaughter, Ruth Karen LaForest.

Thomas R. Coutts
September 26, 1947 - June 2, 2004
DELTA - Delta resident, Thomas R. Coutts, died Wednesday, June 2, 2004 at St. Mary’s Medical Center in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was 56.
A celebration of Tom’s life will be held at 5:00 p.m., Saturday, June 5th at the Coutts residence at 110 Hartig Drive in Delta.
Thomas Ranous Coutts was born on September 26, 1947 in Minneapolis, Minnesota to the late John B. and Luella (Ranous) Coutts. He spent his childhood in Manitou Springs, Colorado where he also graduated from high school.
On June 11, 1983 in Winter Park, Colorado, Tom married Christy Sherman. She survives. Prior to moving to Delta nine years ago, they resided in Aspen for five years and prior to that in Winter Park.
Tom was a general contractor and owned and operated Tom Coutts Construction Company. His interests included fishing and most recently helping and watching his boys race BMX bikes.
Survivors include his wife Christy Coutts, of Delta; two sons: Eric and Cody Coutts, both of Delta; and one sister, Sandy Mayfield of San Jose, CA.
Tom was preceded in death by his parents.

Marcella Stephens
November 26, 1909 - June 3, 2004
DELTA - Longtime Delta resident, Marcella Stephens died Thursday, June 03, 2004 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital. She was 94.
A funeral service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Monday, June 7th at Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Delta. James Gall will preside. Interment will follow at the Delta City Cemetery.
Elsie Marcella Pierce was born on November 26, 1909 at Midway, near Paonia, Colorado to the late Everett Monroe and Edna Emaline (Vernam) Pierce. She spent her childhood in Cedaredge and graduated from high school there in 1928.
On June 5, 1928 in Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Marcella married William Franklin Stephens. He preceded her in death in August of 1945 in Delta.
Marcella was a cook for over 30 years. She worked at the Cedaredge schools and at Terrell’s Restaurant in Delta. Her interests included cooking and gardening. She attended the Cedaredge Community United Methodist Church.
Survivors include one daughter, Ruth Ellen McKinsey and husband Kenneth of Battle Mountain, NV; four sons: Everett Franklin Stephens and wife Lois and Marvin Robert Stephens and wife Linda, all of Delta, Jerry Stephens and wife Kay of Platteville, WI, and David Stephens and wife Florence of Milford, CT. Marcella is further survived by 13 grandchildren: Lee Ann Sinner, Sheri Gates, John Stephens and Jeri Stephens, all of Delta, Kathy Heaps of Grand Junction, Justin Coe of Paonia, Lonnie Coe of Cory, Craig Stephens and Rachelle John, both of California, Scott Stephens and Jody Stephens, both of Virginia, Kelly Stephens of South Dakota and Dave Stephens of Connecticut; 19 great grandchildren and four great - great grandchildren.
Along with her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Everett and Jim Pierce.

John G. Zisch
November 7, 1924 - May 26, 2004
CEDAREDGE - Cedaredge, Colorado resident, John G. Zisch died Wednesday, May 26, 2004 at Delta County Memorial Hospital, in Delta, Colorado. He was 79.
A funeral service is planned for 2:00 p.m., Sunday, May 30th at the First Baptist Church in Cedaredge, Colorado. Members of John’s family will officiate. A private graveside service will take place at Johnstown Cemetery
in Johnstown, Colorado.
John G. Zisch was born to the late James and Florence (Jaynes) Zisch on November 7, 1924 in Bayard, Nebraska. He spent his childhood in Johnstown, Colorado. In 1943 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served his country as a naval aviator. He graduated from the University of Colorado Law School in 1952, where he was a member of the All - Century football team.
On June 11, 1948 in Denver, Colorado, John married Shirley Mae Wolfe. She survives.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Zisch of Cedaredge, CO; two sons, John Zisch and his wife Deborah of Longmont, CO and William Zisch and his wife Suzanne of Denver, CO; three daughters, Lynn Montgomery and husband Gary of Littleton, CO, Jennifer Weidemaier and husband Phillip of Cedaredge, and Kate Grey and husband Allen of Grand Junction, CO; brother Richard Zisch and wife Peggy of Hemet, CA. John is further survived by fourteen grandchildren.
Along with his parents, John was preceded in death by four brothers, Donald, Bill, Charles and Henry Zisch and a sister Anne Hansen.

Nathan A. Clawson
July 12, 1966 - May 25, 2004
Former North Fork Valley resident, Nathan A. Clawson, died Tuesday, May 25, 2004 at his residence in Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was 37.
A funeral service is planned for 10:00 a.m., Saturday, May 29th at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Hotchkiss, Colorado. Reverend Robert Barker will preside. Interment will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery
in Paonia
Nathan Andrew Clawson was born on July 12, 1966 in Ohio to Richard and Martha A. (Thompson) Clawson. He spent his childhood in Ohio, Wyoming and Colorado. Nathan graduated from Hotchkiss High School in 1984. He had resided in Las Vegas for the past two years.
Mr. Clawson enjoyed many outdoor activities, especially hunting, fishing, golfing and shooting.
Survivors include a daughter, Karlee Clawson of Mesquite, NV; three sons: Keri and Cody Clawson, both of Ohio and Kyler Clawson of Mesquite, NV; his father, Richard Clawson of Paonia; four brothers, Gordon Clawson and wife Angela of Malta, OH, John Clawson and wife Chana of Paonia, Rick G. Clawson of Morgan County, OH and Michael Clawson of Paonia; two sisters: Sheila Clawson of Portland, OR and Brenda Clawson of Colorado Springs, CO. He is further survived by several nieces and nephews.
Nathan was preceded in death by his mother, Martha Clawson; one son and one daughter.

Howard G. King
October 27, 1921 - May 22, 2004
PAONIA - Fifty - eight year Paonia resident, Howard Grady King, died on Saturday, May 22, 2004, at St. Mary’s Hospital in Grand Junction, Colorado. He was 82 years old.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, May 27th at the Taylor Funeral Service Chapel in Paonia. James Gall will officiate. Burial will follow at Cedar Hill Cemetery
in Paonia with graveside rites by the Wilson - Head American Legion Post #97.
Howard Grady King was born on October 27, 1921, in Wellington, Texas, to the late Grady Granville and Mary Edna (Prior) King.
On May 14, 1946, Howard married Romeio Marie Kimbrough in Reno, Nevada. She preceded him in death on December 13, 1989, in Delta, Colorado.
Howard served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a past commander of the American Legion Post #97 in Paonia. He was also an elder in the former First Christian Church of Paonia. He worked for Western Colorado Power Company and DMEA for thirty years. Howard enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, working in his garden, and taking drives in the country.
Those grateful to have shared in Howard’s life include two daughters: Dixie Lee Tafoya and her husband Ralph of Montrose, CO, and Verna Ann Namy of Paonia, CO; four grandchildren: Boback Namy and his wife Laleh of Littleton, CO, Mondonna Namy - Pierce and her husband Jason of Fayetteville, AR, Patrick Tafoya and his wife Julie of Litchfield Park, AZ, and David Tafoya of Montrose, CO; and a very special companion and friend, Geri Carey of Paonia, CO.
Along with his parents, and his wife, Howard was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clinton and Clay King; a grandson, Daniel Chad Tafoya; and a son - in - law, Hassan Namy.

Robert L. Doles
October 17, 1937 - May 14, 2004
CEDAREDGE - Longtime Cedaredge resident, Robert L. Doles, died Friday, May 14, 2004 at the Delta County Memorial Hospital. He was 66.
A visitation is planned for 9:15 a.m, until the time of service at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, May 19th at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints in Cedaredge. Bishop Stephen Palmer will preside. Interment will follow at Cedaredge Cemetery.
Robert Lester Doles was born on October 17, 1937 in Canon City, Colorado to Lester and Minnie Irene (Thomas) Doles. He spent his childhood in Quemado, New Mexico and graduated from high school there with the class of 1955. He continued his education at Denver Community College.
Robert married Julia Belle Cornelius on January 8, 1960 in Los Lunas, New Mexico. She survives. They had resided in Cedaredge for the past 11 years, coming from Delta. They were former residents of Northglenn, Colorado.
Robert was an operator for the Burlington Railroad. He was a very active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter - day Saints in Cedaredge. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force. His interests included hunting with his son, fishing, genealogy, gardening and traveling. Above all else, however, he most enjoyed his grandchildren.
Survivors include his wife of 44 years, Julia Doles, of Cedaredge; his mother, Irene McCarley of Eckert, CO; one son, Jay and wife Carol Doles of Cedaredge; one daughter, Jolene Harper and husband Dwaine of Oak Grove, MO; one brother, Charles
Edward Doles and wife Linda of Cedaredge; and one sister Barbara Cook of Eckert, CO.
Robert is further survived by eight grandchildren: Kara, John, Jr., and Lindsay Doles, all of Culpepper, VA; Julia Doles of Victorville, CA; Brian, Ashley, Nicholas and Audrey Harper all of Oak Grove, MO and one god son, Sean Dorr of Delta, CO.
Mr. Doles was preceded in death by his father.
