SHRUM
Funeral services for Linda Estella Shrum, 56, of Ordway will be at 10 a.m. today (Thursday) at Griffy Family Funeral Home in Ordway with H.D. "Pat" Pattison, volunteer chaplain for the State of Colorado Department of Corrections, officiating.
She died June 12, 2004 at Parkview Hospital in Pueblo.
She was born Oct. 17, 1947 to Mona and John Chapman. She was raised in Adena, southwest of Fort Morgan, and in Wiggins where she graduated high school in 1966.
Following high school, she worked as a child care provider, traveling with the family for whom she worked. It was on a trip to California that she met and married John Hannel.
She studied cosmetology, receiving her license and state certification in 1981 and later attended Pikes Peak Community College.
In addition she taught preschool at Woodland Park Christian School, Sunday school in the various churches she attended and participated on a mission trip to Mexico.
On Aug. 6, 1996 she and Mike Shrum were married in Ordway.
Mrs. Shrum is survived by her husband, Mike, daughter Sheree (Keith) Miller of Las Animas, sons John (Melissa) Hannel of La Junta and Jason (Kathy) Hannel of Pueblo, grandchildren Chandra Forbes, Declyn Forbes, Tessa Miller, Tera Miller, Tosha Miller, Kayla Hannel, Clyde Hannel, Lisa Wiker, Ashley Wiker, Scott Wiker and Logan Hannel.
Other survivors include her mother, Mona Mendenhall of Jay, Okla., brothers Bill Chapman of Wintersprings, Fla., John (Candice) Chapman of Akron, Art (Mary Ann) Chapman of Rawlins, Wyo., Terry (Vickie) Chapman of Penrose and Nova (Dean) Waite of Hugo, plus many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and greatnephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, John Chapman, sister Ethel Chapman Miller, stepfather Virgil Meredith Mendenhall and father-in-law James Shrum.

Losano
Funeral Mass for Faye Ruby Losano, 74, formerly of Rocky Ford will be held at 10 a.m. at St. Peters Catholic Church. Visitation will be on Wednesday June 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the funeral home. Rosary will be at 9:30 on July 1. Mrs. Losano died on June 27 at Laurel Manor Nursing Home in Colorado Springs.
She was born in Sugarite, New Mexico on November 30, 1929 to Felipe and Julia Rodriguez.
Mrs. Losano is survived by her children Daniel (Sandy) Salazar of San Antonio, Texas; Eloy (Charlotte) Salazar of Las Animas; Michael Salazar of Denver; Mary Salazar of Ordway; Elizabeth (Vince) Ramirez of Whittier, Calif.; Mary Alice (Ernie) Perez of Amarillo, Texas; Mary Ann (Dennis) Salazar of Amarillo, Texas; Larry Salazar of Pico Revera, Calif.; Virginia Losano of Pueblo; Mario Losano of Pueblo; Robert Losano of Colorado Springs; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and children Iris, Kathern Rebecca, Katherine Bernadette and Rickie Salazar, granddaughter Danielle Byrd and grandson Devin Salazar.

McKenzie
A private family memorial service for Jack Edward McKenzie, 64, of Rocky Ford was held Saturday, June 26, 2004 at the Valley View Cemetery
in Rocky Ford. He died Tuesday, June 22, 2004 in La Junta after battling cancer for a year.
He was born Feb. 14,1940 in La Junta to Helen and Jack McKenzie. Jack was a 1957 graduate of Rocky Ford High School and was an all star athlete in four sports. He received a football scholarship and played for the University of Colorado and Western State College. He received a degree in business and many honors as an all star player. Jack enlisted in the United States Marines after graduation. He was the owner and manager of the Old Town Lumber Company in Shingle Springs, Calif. where he reired as a lumber broker. He was a draft choice football player of the Los Angeles Rams.
He is survived by his wife Carole McKenzie, of Rocky Ford; mother Helen McKenzie of Rocky Ford; son and best friend, Matt McKenzie of Chicago; daughters Jill (Michael) Joyce and grandson James of Columbia Falls, Mont., Marty (Shane) Couch and granddaughter Julia of Cupertino, Calif.; step-sons Don (Wanda) Lucas and son Chris of Summit, SC., and Charles and Kim Lucas of Imperial, Calif.; sisters Beverly (Richard) Hedde of Mystic, CT., Barbara Malott of Denver, and Judy McKenzie of San Francisco, Calif.; Nieces and Nephews Joe and Kerrie Hedde and sons Josh and Joe, Margaret and Norman Conley, John Hedde, Jim Hedde, Justin Hedde. Charles Malott and children, Jordan and Spencer, John and Noelle Malott and children Alex and Samantha.
Jack was preceded in death by his father George W. McKenzie, owner of McKenzie Furniture of Rocky Ford, in 1989.

McDonald
Paul Lee "Mickey" McDonald Jr. of La Junta entered his earthly life on Dec. 1, 1940 in Pueblo, Colorado. He was an invited guest of Jesus to his eternal home June 25th 2004 to join his mother, father, brother, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, of 46 years, Kathryn McDonald of La Junta, Colorado. Children; Paul (Janie) McDonald of Sayre, Oklahoma Don (Susie) McDonald of La Junta, Lorraine (Mike) Wilkerson of Fort Worth, Texas. Grandchildren include; Cassandra and Halee McDonald of Sayre, Oklahoma, Dawn, Beth, Grace, Tim and Bobbie Rice of La Junta. Jennifer, Alexandria, Andrew, and Katie Wilkerson of Fort Worth, Texas. Brother, Tom McDonald of Pueblo, Sister, Midge, (Jerry) Martinez of Longmont. Special cousin Donna Smith and Mannie. Donna was his, sister through love and confidante, cousin's Judy (Matt) Zuber and Betty Van. Stepsister, Brenetta (Paul) Rose of Pueblo West. Special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Pat and Mike Kelly of Rocky Ford, Frances and Eddie McIntosh of Cottage Grove, Oregon and all his brothers and sisters in Christ, along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his Parents Paul and Lorraine McDonald and brother Gary McDonald. Paul was a member of the Prairie Bible Chapel.
He was born and raised in Pueblo, Colorado. He attended Centennial High School. Paul worked for Pace Construction and received his certification in paint and body. He worked at Nibco 17 years, Western Canning, Neoplan and Frozen Foods. Paul was very active; he enjoyed fishing, hunting, climbing trees, hiking, and bicycling. Paul was also very fond of listening to music, playing his clarinet, and helping others. He was very mechanical and loved nature. He enjoyed spending time with his family. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 29, 2004 at the Prairie Bible Chapel 5112 San Juan Ave. in La Junta. Close Friend and Pastor Maynard Bowen will be officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of Johnson-Romero Funeral Home & Grooms Crematory.
COCHRAN
Funeral services for Delmer Z. Cochran, 88, longtime Manzanola resident, were held Wednesday at the Griffy Family Funeral Home in Fowler with the Rev. Mike Simons, pastor of Rocky Ford Church of the Nazarene, and Carl Schroeder co-officiating. Burial followed in the Fowler Cemetery.
Mr. Cochran died June 19, 2004, at Windsor Health Care Center in Windsor.
He was born Jan. 22, 1916, in Wheaton, Mo., to Simon C. and Susie Catherine Ridenour Cochran. He came to Manzanola in 1942. He had worked for Otero County with the road and bridge department for over 45 years when he retired.
He married Frances Gill on Oct. 20, 1936. She preceded him in death on July 17, 1993.
He is survived by daughters Violet (Bob) Grossman of Colorado Springs, Iona (Arlie) Neel of Bethany, Mo., Pansy (James) Manners of Bethany and Ruby (Kelly) Pearson of Milliken, nine grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

FLOYD
Funeral services for Agnes Marie Floyd, 85, of Fowler were held Wednesday at Trinity Lutheran Church in Fowler with Pastor Art Miller officiating.
Mrs. Floyd died June 19, 2004, at her home in Fowler.
Interment was in the Fowler Cemetery.
Agnes Marie (Jensen) Floyd was born in Fowler on June 16, 1919, to Anne (Christensen) and Soren Jensen, Jr. She attended Fowler schools and graduated from Fowler High School in 1937. She spent many years working in Colorado Springs. In 1979 she married Earl Floyd. They moved to Fowler in 1984.
She was a longtime member of Trinity Lutheran Church. She loved flowers and did beautiful embroidery.
She is survived by her husband, Earl, sister Sylvia Cadonau, sister-in-law Ila Jensen, brother-in-law Quentin Smith, all of Fowler, and several other relatives, as well as special friends Joy McClain and Doug, Sandy, Morgan, Bethany and Lindsey Moss, all of Fowler. She is also survived by her cat, Boots, whom she dearly loved and enjoyed walking on a leash.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Carl Reinhart and Clarence Waggoner, brothers Lawrence Jensen and Hans Jensen, and sisters Bertha Byers, Beulah Smith and Johanna Peterson.
Memorials may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or to the Fowler EMTs through Griffy Family Funeral Home which is in charge of arrangements.
HIGHTOWER
Viola Mozell Hightower, 79, of Pueblo and a former resident of Las Animas, died June 17, 2004, in Pueblo.
She was born May 16, 1925, in Elkview, Okla., to Curtis and Cora Randall. She was born and raised on a farm and lived most of her married life on a farm. After her husband's retirement, they ran a day care for more than 20 years.
She is survived by three daughters, Barbara (Dennis) Mowery of Wetmore, Rosetta Hickman of Lamar, Jane Hardy of San Jacinto, Calif.; six grandchildren, Tiffany (Mike) Ruiz of La Junta, Stephen (Pauletta) Hickman of Lamar, Jeanie Hardy of Greeley, Jeff Hardy, Sherman Hardy, Marvin Hardy Jr., all of California; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline (Leroy) Winters of Del City, Okla., Rosa (Vaughn) Craig of Harlingen, Texas; and one brother, Robert Randall of West Palm Beach, Fla.
Funeral services were held at 3 p.m., Wednesday, June 23 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Las Animas. Interment was in the Las Animas Cemetery
with Horber Funeral Chapel in charge of arrangements.
FELDMAN
Warren D. Feldman, 86, of Kerrville, Texas, died June 18, 2004, at a Kerrville care center.
He was born Dec. 19, 1917, to Norman and Louise (Warren) Feldman in Chambersburg, Pa. He served in World War II in this country and the Philippines. He married Vivian M. Robinson on June 21, 1946, in San Antonio, Texas.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, Robert (Linda) Feldman of Mayville, Wis., Kent of Kerrville, Texas; and a brother, N. Gene (Polly) Feldman of Chambersburg, Pa.
A memorial service was held Wednesday, June 23 at Schreiner Chapel, First Presbyterian Church in Kerrville, Texas.
Those wishing to do so may make memorial donations to the American Heart Association.
LOWMAN
Memorial services for Robert (Bob) Lowman, 56, of Warren, Mich. will be at 10 a.m. on June 26, 2004 at the St Mary's Catholic Church in St. Claire, Mich.
He was born in La Junta on November 29, 1947 to Donald and Lucille Lowman. He graduated from La Junta High School in 1965 and attended Otero Junior College. Bob was an active member of the Koshares during his high school years and enjoyed many trips with the club. He joined the Navy in 1968 and served for eight years. During his Naval Career he served in Viet Nam aboard the USS Clarion River, a small rocket launcher ship.
Mr. Lowman is survived by his wife, Shirley and daughter Kimberly of the home and daughter Renee (Michael) Yustick, two grandchildren, Danielle and Robert; and his father and stepmother, Don and Gracia Lowman of La Junta.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lucille Lowman.
Memorial donations may be made to the Koshares.
REDDING
Memorial services for Lois May Redding, 79, of Rocky Ford, will be held at Johnson-Romero Funeral Home in La Junta on Tuesday, July 13 at 11:30 a.m. She passed away in La Juna on July 5, 2004 after a short illness.
She was born September 7, 1924, in Denver to Thomas G. Plews, Sr., and Blanche Lucetta Katzenmeyer Plews. She attended public elementary and secondary schools in Denver and subsequently attended the University of Denver. During World War II she worked as a telegraph operator for the railroad. In 1946, she married Robert A. Redding. In the early 1960s she moved to Rocky Ford where her parents owned Plews Motor Company. She worked at the library at Otero Junior College, at the former Rocky Ford National Bank and later as secretary to the Superintendent of schools for Rocky Ford. In the mid-60s she began work as a laboratory technician and office manager for the CSU Animal Disease Diagnostic Laboratory located east of Rocky Ford and continued this work until she retired in the mid-90s.
In her younger years she was an avid swimmer, tennis player and skier. During her later working years and after retirement she enjoyed travel and pursued an interest in art.
Mrs. Redding is survived by her son, Greg Redding, and three grandchildren, Katherine (Kara), Brian and Olivia Redding, all of Fairfax, Virginia; sister-in-law Naydene Plews of Colorado Springs and her son Mike of Charlotte, North Carolina; daughter Carol of Colorado Springs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brother Thomas G. Plews, Jr., and her niece Christine Plews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that donations be made in her memory to the Arkansas Valley Hospice.

MAES
Manuel Lee Maes, a long-time resident of Rocky Ford, passed away on July 8, 2004, at his home in Rocky Ford, Colorado. He was 49 years of age.
Manuel was born June 24,1955 in Fowler, Colorado, to Aurora and Rosendo Maes. He worked as a maintenance man for the housing authority.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Elaine Maes of Rocky Ford, Son's; Manuel (April) Maes of Rocky Ford, Eric (Mira Sol) Maes of Liberal, Kansas. Daughter's; Tracy Maes of Canon City, Tana (Albert) Lopez of Golden, Colorado. Mother, Aurora Maes of Rocky Ford. Grandchildren; Carlos, Thomas and Ariana Lopez, Christian, Anthony and Nathaniel Teglo, Mayiana and Eric Maes and Jayden Maes. Brother's include; Tom (Lena) Maes of Rocky Ford, Luis (Chong) Maes of Kansas, Bob (Elsie) Maes of Rocky Ford, and Anthony (Lydia) Maes of Rocky Ford. Sisters; Julia Trujillo of Pueblo, Eleanor Apodoca of Rocky Ford and Dorothy Rocha of Rocky Ford. Mother and Father-in-law, Mary and Charlie Montenez of Rocky Ford. Sister-in-law's Lilly Maes of Arizona, Joan Maes of Rocky Ford, Aunt Marcella of Rocky Ford and Uncle Tony Jaramillo of Washington. Along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Manuel was preceded in death by his son, Carlos Maes. Father, Rosendo Maes, Grandmother Bartolita Jaramillo and Grandfather Antonio Arroyos and brother's; Gilbert, Tino, David, and John Maes, Uncle Elijo Maes.
Manuel enjoyed playing pool and spending time with friends and family especially his grandchildren.
A Rosary will be held Sunday, July 11, 2004 at the St. Peter's Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, The Memorial Service will be Monday July 12, 2004 at 10:00 A.M. also at St. Peter's Catholic Church, followed by the Committal at Valley View Cemetery. Father Charlie Sena will be officiating. Arrangements have been entrusted to the loving care of Johnson-Romero Funeral Home & Grooms Crematory.
WALDROOP
Ellen Jo Waldroop, 87, of 639 Second St., Las Animas, died June 30, 2004, at her residence.
She was born April 15, 1927, in Maricopa, Ariz., to Clyde Clay and Lena (Snodgrass) Cole. She married Austin Franklin Waldroop on Nov. 10, 1934, in Friendship, Okla. He died in February of 1991.
She owned an antique shop in Altus, Okla., and was member of the Church of Christ. She came to Las Animas in 1999.
Survivors include one son, Austin R. Waldroop of Altus, Okla.; two daughters, L. Sue (Bill) Lewis and Caroll L. Robbins, both of Las Animas; one sister, Bette LeFevere of Selma, Calif.; eight grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m., July 3 at Kincannon Funeral Home in Altus, Okla. Burial was in the Navajoe Cemetery
at Headrick, Okla. Horber Funeral Chapel was in charge of local arrangements.
BEACH
A memorial service for Melvin D. Beach, 62, of Crowley, who died on Aug. 26, 2003, will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 10 at Valley View Cemetery
in Ordway to inter his ashes. The Rev. David Almanzar of Canon City and former pastor of the Community Baptist Church will officiate.
He was born July 10, 1941, in Crowley to Robert Alexander Beach and Anna Mae Armstrong Beach. He attended Crowley schools and attended Community Baptist Church in Crowley. He loved to read newspapers and was an avid Denver Broncos fan.
He is survived by his brother Harvey Beach of Pueblo, sister Ruth Vinton of Coal Creek, and numerous nieces and nephews.
