Margaret Olson
Margaret B. Olson, 91, formerly of Mead, died Jan. 14, 2009 at Life Care Center of Greeley.
A memorial service will be held on Monday, Feb. 2, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 803 Third Ave, Longmont. Cremation will be at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Julia G. Hielscher
Julia G. Hielscher of Longmont passed away on March 22, at her home. She was 89.
Hielscher was born on Sept. 7, 1919 in Alma, Neb. to Frank LeRoy and Dora Viola (Duree) Gorsuch. She married William A. Hielscher on Aug. 27, 1936, in Fort Morgan, Colo.
She was a mother, homemaker and cosmetologist and managed The House of Capri in Denver for 10 years. Hielscher was a lifetime member of the American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32 of Longmont and a charter member of the Women of Moose 1548 Longmont.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 61 years, William A. Hielscher; a son, Billy Leroy Hielscher and two brothers, Chester and Tillie Gorsuch.
Hielscher is survived by daughters, Larita R. Hielscher of El Paso, Texas; and Leota L. Bernhardt and husband Harry of Berthoud; three grandchildren, Autumn Bernhardt, Berthoud; Teresa Dudden and husband Rick, Fort Lupton, Colo.; and William Lee Hielscher and wife Nury of Atlanta Beach, Fla. and one great grandchild, Chelsea Dudden.
Services were held Thursday, March 26 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Interment was at Foothills Gardens of Memory. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to American Legion Auxiliary Unit 32 and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St. Longmont, CO 80501.
Martin F. Spiess
Martin F. Spiess of Berthoud, 89, formerly of Loveland, passed away on March 23, 2009. He was born Oct. 15, 1919, in Pleasant Valley, Kan. to Charles G. and Agnes (Miller) Spiess.
He worked at Woodward Governor in Fort Collins, where he met Fern Agnes Fangmeier. They were married Feb. 1, 1964 in Fort Collins. He owned and operated Fawn Hallow General Store in the Big Thompson Canyon. Then they moved to Campion and he worked at the Sugar Beet factory in Loveland. In 1974, they moved to Berthoud and he was the head custodian at Ivy Stockwell Elementary in Berthoud. Martin and Fern were very instrumental in helping to form Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, where they were members. They were both active in the Berthoud Senior Center, which they also worked very hard to get organized.
Martin loved to write poetry. He would get some basic information from people and write poems for them. He enjoyed gold panning and gardening.
He is survived by step-sons Lyle Fangmeier (Sherry) of Commerce City, Colo., Fred Fangmeier (Linda) of Pine Bluffs, Wyo.; daughter-in-law Sara Fangmeier of Longmont, Colo.; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Fern A. Spiess (July 29, 2001); a step-son, Frank Fangmeier; a great-granddaughter, Lisa Marie, and seven siblings.
Memorial services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, April 4 at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Contributions may be made to Mt. Olive Lutheran Church in care of Viegut Funeral Home, 1616 N. Lincoln Ave., Loveland, CO 80538.
Zenda Lee Vella
Zenda Lee Vella died Sunday, April 5 at HospiceCare Center of Boulder and Broomfield Counties following a horse riding accident. She was 55.
Born on July 22, 1953, in Longmont, she was the daughter of Richard Lee and Betty Jean Hall. In 1965 her family moved to Tennessee. After graduating high school and receiving her associate degree at Webber College in Florida, Zenda returned to Colorado in 1977.
Zenda returned to college at CSU, successfully completing her bachelor’s degree in fashion merchandising, working for VF Corporation, Wrangler, for 10 years. Zenda devoted her free time to her family and many friends, riding horses, raising long horns, sewing and gardening.
Zenda was preceded in death by her parents.
Survivors include her daughter, Leslie Weibel of Berthoud; her son, Jay Weibel of Fort Collins; two sisters and family, Sally, Rick, Brett and Jamie Gulick of Englewood, and Paula, JD, Ryan and Seth Vanderlinden of Berthoud; and, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Depression Center at the University Of Colorado School Of Medicine. Audrey Zorna
Audrey Zorna, 85, of Berthoud, died March 24, 2009, at Berthoud Living Center.
She was born Oct. 1, 1923, in Waterbury, Conn. to Frederick H. and Ruth Spencer (Hotchkiss) Bosworth.
Audrey married Joseph R. Zorna on Feb. 1, 1944, and celebrated 65 years of marriage this year.
She moved to Boulder in 1966 and lived there until 1984 while working as a nurse in the OB/GYN department at Boulder Community Hospital. She later moved to Berthoud in 2002.
Audrey enjoyed collecting stamps and souvenir spoons. She also enjoyed knitting, gardening, making hooked rugs and traveling, visiting over 40 foreign countries. She enjoyed volunteer work in human services. She was most proud of being a descendant of the original Bosworth Plymouth Colony Colonists and New England settlers in 1634.
Survivors include her husband, Joe Zorna, of Berthoud; a son, Walter Zorna, of Cheyenne, Wyo.; two daughters, Penny Zorna of Longmont and Marie Selander of Santa Rosa, Calif.; four grandchildren; her brother Earle Bosworth (Julie) of Seymour, Conn., and her sister Janet Hissey (Bill) of Oxford, Conn., and their families.
Private family services will be held. The cremation will be at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. The inurnment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery
in Denver. Memorial contributions may be made to Boulder Valley Humane Society or the Alzheimer’s Association and sent to Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
Leroy Francis Schroeder
February 10, 1950 - October 12, 2004
Leroy Francis Schroeder died on Tuesday, Oct. 12, in Rifle. He was 54. A memorial mass in celebration of his life will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 16 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Rifle. Father Robert Hehn will officiate. Burial will be in Nebraska at a later date.
Leroy was born on Feb. 10, 1950, in Yankton, S.D., to Raymond and Hildegard (Kneifl) Schroeder. He spent his childhood in South Dakota and was previously married to Arlene Leader. Most recently, Leroy was a trail guide and outfitter who had lived in Rifle since 1989.
He was a member of the Catholic church and served in the Army from 1967-1971. Leroy belonged to the Moose 1345 in Rifle and the Garfield County Search and Rescue team. He was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, and was an emergency medical technician and volunteer fireman in Nebraska. Leroy was very proud to be a member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1988, a great accomplishment for him. He loved his kids dearly and had many friends. He will be greatly missed.
Leroy is survived by two sons, Paul Schroeder and wife, Jeannie, of Rifle, and Anthony Schroeder and wife, Lisa, of Portland, Ore.; a daughter, Cathy Schroeder of Sioux Falls, S.D.; a brother, Larry J. Schroeder of Lewiston, Idaho; and a grandchild, Zavier Francis Schroeder. He is preceded in death by his parents.

James Thomas Clemons
January 9, 1922 - October 12, 2004
James Thomas Clemons died on Tuesday, Oct. 12, 2004, in Rifle. He was 82. Visiting hours will be from 9-11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at Rifle Funeral Home, 1400 Access Road. Following visitation, a graveside military service will be held in his memory at 1 p.m. at the Veterans Memorial Cemetery
of the Western Slope, 2830 D. Road, Grand Junction. The chaplain of the Military Honor Guard will officiate.
James was born Jan. 9, 1922, in Larkensville, Ala., to Grant and Lala (Thomas) Clemons. He married Grace Hall on Nov. 25, 1948, in Biloxi, Miss. He served in the Air Force for 27 years and had lived in Rifle since 1997. His previous place of residence was Aurora.
He was a member of the Lawrence Green Leaf Lodge and was a devoted husband of 55 years. James was a great father who never met a stranger. In his younger life, he liked to play golf and go fishing. He was ever so proud of his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren. James and his wife loved to go to Las Vegas and have fun. He was a great chess player and also played cards and completed cross-word puzzles. He only lacked half a credit from holding a degree in business management from the University of Pittsburgh. James was just an all-around great guy.
James is survived by his wife, Grace, of Rifle; a son, Keith Clemons of Silt; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by a brother, Robert Clemons; a son, Warren H. Glenn Marquette
December 5, 1925 - October 14, 2004
Glenn Marquette died on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at Valley View Hospital in Glenwood Springs. He was 78.
Marquette was born on Dec. 5, 1925, in Douglas County, Minn., to John and Freida (Brueske) Marquette. He attended high school in Alexandria, Minn., and Alexandria Area Vocational Technical Institute for Steam Engineering. He was married to Viola and served in the U.S. Coast Guard. He had resided at Manor Senior House on Blake Avenue in Rifle for the past year.
He is survived by three sons, Marlo Marquette and wife, Mary, of Glenwood, Ronald Marquette and wife, Dawn, of Sartell, Minn., and Greg Marquette of Alexandria; three daughters, Vickie and husband, Michael, of Paynesville, Minn., Tammi Marquette of Coon Rapids, Minn., and Marlene and husband, Robert, of Glenwood; and three brothers, Jim Marquette of Minneapolis, Merle Marquette of Riverton, Wyo., and Allen Marquette of North Platte, Neb. He is also survived by 13 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Marquette is preceded in death by two brothers, Lyle and Ray Marquette, and one sister, Gladys.

Theresa A. Doyle Trout
August 4, 1910 - October 14, 2004
Theresa A. Trout, 94, of Grand Junction passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2004, at Mesa Manor. Theresa was the youngest of five children born to Tim and Kate Doyle at their homestead at Cattle Creek, near Glenwood Springs. She married Alvin U. Trout on June 25, 1927, at St. Stephen's Catholic Church in Glenwood.
Theresa's pioneer spirit, along with Alvin's, allowed them to move their three children across Colorado and numerous states. Theresa helped Alvin run his own road construction company during the 1950s. They returned to the Cattle Creek homestead during the '60s and later retired to Arizona in 1974 for 10 years. They missed their grandchildren and Colorado, so they moved back to settle in Grand Junction.
Theresa was very proud of her large extended family, and the family of her. She celebrated her 52nd year of sobriety in May. Her example of following the 12-step program has been monumental in changing lives not only to her family, but also to friends and strangers as well.
She is survived by son Eugene Trout of Grand Junction; daughter, Fay McCoy of Denver; niece Frances Westhoff-Baker of Grand Junction; 15 grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Arden Trout; a grandson, Eric Trout; a granddaughter, Joanne Trout; and a great-great-grandson, Cody K. Landrum.
Visitation will be at St. Stephen's Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19. Mass will be offered by Father McMillan at 11 a.m.

Longtime Rifle resident Douglas W. Olds, 93, died Saturday, Oct. 16, 2004, at the Colorado State Veterans Center in Rifle.

Paul A. Amichaux
November 5, 1930 - October 15, 2004
Paul A. Amichaux, a long-time Glenwood Springs resident and business owner, entered into God's care Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, at the Glen Valley Nursing Home in Glenwood Springs at the age of 73.
Paul was born the son of Archie and Bertha (Hoffman) Amichaux on Nov. 5, 1930, in Glenwood. Paul died on his 49th wedding anniversary. He wed Jacqueline Chapman on Oct. 15, 1955, in Warrington, England. Paul was retired from the U.S. Air Force after 22 years of service. He was stationed in various locations such as Turkey, Germany, and Hawaii. Along with Hawaii, Paul and his family traveled and lived in a vast area of western Europe. Honorably discharged, he was recognized as a senior master sergeant E-9.
Paul graduated in 1948 from Garfield County High School. He attended the University of Denver for two years on a football scholarship and played in the Hula Bowl. He attained his college degree from the University of Maryland through the military program.
Paul's family owns and operates Ami's Acres in West Glenwood. Paul enjoyed the wonderful scenery and the background country Colorado has to offer. He also enjoyed traveling, jeeping, his horses, telling stories, genealogy studies and joke telling, was a rock-hound, and had a wonderful sense of humor. He loved his family, his friends, and the wonderful community he lived in for so many years.
Paul is survived by his wife, Jacqueline, of Glenwood; his four children, Calvin P. Amichaux of Glenwood, Cheryl Dunlap of Silt, Roxanne Christner of Glenwood and Craig Amichaux of Glenwood; two sisters, Joyce L. Reiche of Eagle and Janice George of Glenwood; and six grandchildren, Jason and Brian Dunlap, Angela and Jeremy Christner, and Shelbi and Haley Amichaux.
Visitation will be from 3-6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, at the First United Methodist Church in Glenwood with a graveside service at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 20, at the Rosebud Cemetery, also in Glenwood. The Rev. Lauren Martin will officiate. A reception will follow at his son Craig's home, 163 County Road 132 in West Glenwood, where everyone is welcome to attend and share stories to celebrate Paul's life. Richard F. Timmer IV
February 1, 1964 - October 15, 2004
Richard F. Timmer IV died Friday, Oct. 15, 2004, in Grand Junction. He was 40. A memorial service celebrating his life will take place at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 19, in the Aspen Chapel of Prince of Peace Church in Aspen. Pastor Tim Hawks of Hill Country Bible Church in Austin, Texas, will officiate.
Timmer was born on Feb. 1, 1964, in Denver to Richard and Nancy (Puffer) Timmer III. He spent his childhood in Fredericksburg, Texas, and Crooked Creek Ranch on the Eagle. He graduated from Westlake High School in Austin and Baylor University. He married Karen Crepps on June 13, 1998, at the Spring Creek Trout Farm in Thomasville. Timmer was a systems analyst, known as "Richard the Computer Guy," who had previously resided in Austin, Guam, Westminster, and Thomasville, and most recently lived in Aspen for 13 years.
He loved the outdoors, running, bicycling, hiking, and camping. Timmer is survived by his parents, wife, and stepson, Joe Turner, all of Aspen; a stepdaughter, Katie Turner; and too many friends to list.

Douglas W. Olds, 93, of Rifle died Saturday, Oct. 16, at the Colorado State Veteran's Nursing Home in Rifle.
Mr. Olds was born Sept. 21, 1911, in Yakima, Wash., the son of Jas. Riley and Nellie (Hastings) Olds. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mabel, and on Aug. 15, 1957, married Dena Olive Updike Most in Glenwood Springs.
A member of the First Christian Church of Rifle, Mr. Olds retired from Union Carbide. He enjoyed spending time outdoors fishing and camping, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include his wife, Dena, of Rifle; one stepson, Ernie and Sue Most of Rifle; three grandchildren, Corby (Richard) Mascarenas, Ken (Sam) Most, and David (Karen) Most; nine great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.

Frank H. Caywood
May 20, 1906 - October 17, 2004
Frank Homer Caywood of Palisade passed away Sunday, Oct. 17, at the Palisade Living Center. He was 98.
Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until service time on Friday, Oct. 22, at the McLean Funeral Home Chapel in Palisade. Services will begin at 1 p.m. with the Rev. James Brown officiating. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery
in New Castle.
Frank was born May 20, 1906, to William and Laura (Proctor) Caywood on Piceance Creek in rural Rio Blanco County where he spent his childhood and attended schools.
On Sept. 16, 1930, he married Opal Jane Blake in Guymon, Okla. They moved from Oklahoma to New Castle in the spring of 1935. In 2000, they moved to Palisade to make their home. Mrs. Caywood passed away May 1, 2001, in Palisade.
Frank was a member of the Assembly of God in Glenwood Springs. He loved spending time with family and friends and greatly enjoyed the outdoors.
Survivors include a son, Howard (Elaine) Caywood of Grand Junction; three daughters, Vivian (John) Meeney and Adalene Meeney, all of Glenwood, and Charlotte Lopez of New Castle; seven grandchildren, Brenda and Chris Caywood, Maureen Anthony, Shannon Lissolo, Tom and Caryl Meeney, and Hope Hill; 10 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by eight brothers, eight sisters, and a granddaughter, Elaine Ingels.
