Pauline E. Prascher

Many activities centered around church
Pauline E. Prascher, 91, former North Platte, Neb., resident, died Thursday, Nov. 6, at the Medical Center of Arlington in Arlington, Texas.
Mrs. Prascher was born Sept. 14, 1917, in Brady, Neb., to Frederick and Irene Haines. In 1937 she married Hubert Prascher in North Platte. In 1952, the Prascher family moved to North Platte, where they owned and operated the Deluxe Cash Market Grocery Store for many years.
She was very active in the Calvary Assembly of God Church in North Platte. Many of her activities were centered around the church. She especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
In 2001, Mrs. Prascher moved to Arlington to be closer to her daughter and her family.
Survivors include two children, Ronald Prascher of Brush and Paula Borron of Arlington; four grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
A celebration service will be held Tuesday, Nov. 25, at the Calvary Baptist Church in North Platte. Inurnment will follow in Floral Lawn Cemetery
in North Platte.
Cremation arrangements were entrusted to the Heer Mortuary & Crematory in Brush.
Louis Emilio Martinez
1929 - 2008
Former preacher worked as chef for many years
Louis Emilio Martinez, 79, longtime area resident, died Sunday at his home in Fort Morgan.
Martinez was born July 8, 1929, in El Carmen, N.M., to Juan and Eusebia (Sandoval) Martinez. He married Kathryn Davila on May 31, 1953, in Brush. Martinez was a preacher in the 1950s and attended a culinary school in Denver in 1957. He worked as a chef in Fort Morgan for many years.
He was a member of Saint Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan.
Martinez enjoyed playing his guitar and harmonica, cooking, singing, watching wrestling on television, tinkering with cars and collecting things. He loved his children and grandchildren and they were very important to him.
Survivors include his wife, Kathryn of Fort Morgan; sons, Steve Martinez of Denver, Rick Martinez and Kenny Louis Martinez, both of Fort Morgan, and Danny Martinez of Greeley; daughters, Ramona Becker of St. Louis, Mo., Teri Strange of Fort Morgan and Sharon Piepho of Brighton; sisters, Jenny Benevides of California, Mary Rodarte, Trudy Furtaw and Rafe Rangel, all of Fort Morgan, Ambrosita Romero of Wiggins and Delubena Martinez of Salt Lake City, Utah; 15 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Emilio Martinez; three brothers, Margarito, Paul and Cresencio Martinez and two sisters, Nora Dovey and Dora Littig.
A viewing will be held Thursday from 1 until 6 p.m., followed by a Rosary Vigil at 6 p.m. at the Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan.
Mass of Christian Burial will be Friday at 1:30 p.m. at St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.
Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to Hospice and Palliative Care of Northern Colorado.

Jake Riffel
1921 - 2008
Bricklayer worked on buildings across area
Jake Riffel, 87, died Thursday, Nov. 6, at his home in Mancos, Colo.
Riffel was born Sept. 10, 1921, in Fort Morgan to Jake Riffel Sr. and Anna Margaret (Lendhardt) Riffel.
He was a bricklayer by trade and helped with the construction of buildings throughout the Four Corners area. Riffel built the Millwood Junction Restaurant in Mancos, which he owned for 31 years. He was also a silversmith, painter and photographer.
Riffel married Roma Olena John in 1949.
He is survived by his wife, Roma; his daughters, Jo Ann Riffel, Linda Riffel, Karen Noack and Dauna Beck; his brother, Robert Riffel, and sister, Sadie Hand; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Harry Riffel; and sisters, Clara Loose, Ruth Wagner and Marion Wacker.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday at the LDS Chapel in Mancos. Burial will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery.
Nevaeh Schilling

Nevaeh Schilling, infant daughter of Rory and Sueann Schilling, died at birth Tuesday at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan.
Additional survivors include grandparents, Larry and Shari Monsees of Harrisburg, Neb., Randy Schilling of Hillrose, and Leslie Logan of Kiena, Alaska; great-grandparents, Max and Kitty Moyer of Fort Collins, Joe and Ella Waterman of Wiggins, Joan Price of Greeley, and Donna Schilling of Brush.

Sheryl Jean Robertson
1948 - 2009
Sheryl Jean Robertson, 60, a resident of Joshua, Texas, died Sunday, Feb. 1, in Fort Worth, Texas.
Mrs. Robertson was born in Sheridan, Wyo., on May 11, 1948, to Donald and Anna Minchin. She lived in Sheridan until 1997 when she moved to Fort Worth.
She is survived by her husband, Roy; sons, Charles W. Ekis Jr. and Jay E. Ekis; daughter, Erin J. Fairweather; brother, Michael Bates of Wiggins; sisters, Patty Mueller and Angie O’Brien; 16 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
There will be a private funeral service.
Sandra Jean Dyer
1956 - 2009
Worked for Fort Morgan school district
Sandra “Sandy” Jean Dyer, 52, of Gill, Colo., died Tuesday, Jan. 13, at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Mrs. Dyer was born Feb. 24, 1956, in Fort Collins to Kenneth and Barbara (Gericke) Brunz. She graduated from Eaton High School in Eaton in 1974. She married Jimmy Ray Daffern of Oklahoma on June 14, 1977. After her husband was discharged from the military, the couple became team truck drivers, living in San Antonio, Texas, before moving to Fort Morgan in 1990. She worked for the RE-3 School District before her health forced her to retire. After her husband’s death in August 2002, she married Michael Dyer on July 15, 2005, at Galeton Baptist Church. She then moved to Gill with him and lived there until her passing.
She enjoyed cooking, traveling and seeing the country, especially the mountains, being around family and her friends.
Mrs. Dyer is survived by her husband, Michael; a son, Brystol Ryan Daffern of Gill; her mother, Barbara Noeth of Littleton; two sisters, Debbie Murphy of Denver and Michele Greathouse of Weldona; and three brothers, Tom Brunz of Fort Morgan, John Brunz of Atascadero, Calif., and Shawn Klein of Brush.
She was preceded in death by her father and her first husband, Jimmy.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. today, Jan. 21, at Stoddard Funeral Home in Greeley.

Esther Baumgartner
1914 - 2009
Enjoyed cooking, sewing, crocheting
Esther Baumgartner, 94, of Wiggins died early Wednesday morning at the Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan.
Mrs. Baumgartner was born Dec. 28, 1914, in McCook, Neb., to George and Mary (Weise) Kaufman. She married Jacob Baumgartner on Nov. 24, 1932, at the Lutheran Church in Brush.
She was a member of the Wiggins Community Church and the Home Circle Club in Hoyt. She enjoyed cooking, sewing and crocheting.
Survivors include her daughter, Janice Penfold of Wiggins; three sons, Stanley Baumgartner of Wiggins, Larry Baumgartner of Bryan, Ohio, and Kenneth Baumgartner of Las Vegas, Nev.; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Molly, Katie, Pauline, Lydia and Marie; one brother, Dan; and her husband, Jacob.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Heer & Dahl Mortuary in Fort Morgan.
Funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at the Wiggins Community Church. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens Cemetery
in Fort Morgan.

Hugh Thomas McGraw
1949 - 2009
Graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1968
Hugh Thomas McGraw, 59, died Monday at his home in Cumby, Texas, of natural causes.
McGraw was born Sept. 16, 1949, in Lincoln, Neb. His family moved to Fort Morgan, where he attended school, graduating from Fort Morgan High School in 1968. He attended Aims Community College in Greeley, where he earned an associate’s degree. He moved to Windsor, where he worked for Eastman Kodak. McGraw married Shelly Steele in 1972. They later separated.
Following his retirement from Kodak in 1999, he moved to Pierre, S.D. There he married Kate Gallagher. They later moved to Deadwood, where he performed as a community theater actor portraying famous historical characters in performances for several years.
McGraw was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying fishing and hunting, and was passionate in his respect for nature. He was an accomplished guitarist and collected numerous string instruments. He enjoyed playing with various bands and at gatherings of friends and family.
McGraw was also a gifted artist, and taught himself to carve figures in wood. He became renowned for his Christmas carvings, especially original Santa Claus figures. McGraw taught several craft-based classes at Aims Community College in Greeley.
He is survived by his wife Kate; two daughters, Holly Logue of Cumby, Texas, and Heather Deutsch of Fort Collins; a son, Hugh A. of Fort Collins; his mother, Margaret of Fort Morgan; brothers, Michael of Seattle, Wash., Mac of Fort Morgan, Tim of Lafayette, and Brian of Denver; a sister, Margaret of Troy, Mich.; and eight grandchildren.
McGraw was preceded in death by his father and a brother, Patrick.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Windsor.
Jeannine Elva Townsend
1929 - 2009
Worked for FBI, owned Rocket Lounge in Denver
Jeannine “Rusty” Elva Townsend, 79, of Weldona died Saturday, Jan. 17, in Denver.
Mrs. Townsend was born Oct. 18, 1929, in Kearney, Neb. to Lee Henry and Geraldine Jones. She was raised in Kearney. After she graduated, she joined the FBI. Later she was the owner of the Rocket Lounge in Denver. She later moved to Jackson Lake, where she was an assistant postmaster in Orchard.
She married Emile Clark Townsend on Dec. 31, 1965, in Wheat Ridge.
Mrs. Townsend was a member of the American Legion Post #193.
She is survived by her son, Victor VonSeifert of Fort Lupton; two daughters, Cindy Abelson of Weldona and Lana Paine of Scottsbluff, Neb.; a brother, Richard Lee Jones of Rushville, Neb.; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Townsend was preceded in death by her husband and parents.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Horan & McConaty, 3101 S. Wadsworth in Lakewood.
Keith E. McCloud
1926 - 2009
Farmed and ranched for most of life
Keith E. McCloud, 82, lifelong Fort Morgan resident, died early Monday morning at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan.
McCloud was born March 8, 1926, in Morgan County to Edmund and Lettie (Myers) McCloud. He married Venetta Patton on Feb. 14, 1949, in Fort Morgan.
He farmed and ranched for the majority of his life. He enjoyed hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his son, Kenneth McCloud of Fort Morgan; two daughters, Linda Barnes of Colorado Springs and Kim Barthlama of Billings, Mont.; his sister, Hazel Smith of Fort Morgan; five grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by six of his siblings, his parents and his wife, Venetta.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at the United Methodist Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
