Misoon Bryan

Retirement brought couple to Fort Morgan
Misoon Bryan, 68, of Fort Morgan died Saturday afternoon at her home in Fort Morgan.
Mrs. Bryan was born June 26, 1940, in South Korea to Mr. and Mrs. Soon-Chang Yun. She married Mike Bryan and emigrated to the United States in 1966, living in Pueblo and the Denver area until retirement brought them to Fort Morgan in 2000. While in Denver, she owned and operated a gift shop for several years.
She enjoyed gardening, including large rose gardens and a Korean vegetable patch.
Survivors include her husband of Fort Morgan; two daughters, Susan Bryan of Cortez and Teresa Choi of Nashville, Tenn.; two brothers, Bruce Yun of Vancouver, B.C., Canada and Bong-On Yun of Seoul, South Korea; a sister, Soon-Hyun of Seoul, South Korea; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Won-Jong Yun and Pan-Ok Yun of Korea; and a son, Paul L. Bryan.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. at the Saint Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will be held Thursday at 10:30 a.m. at the Highland Cemetery
in Northglenn.
Memorial donations may be made in her name to the Salvation Army.
The Heer Mortuary in Fort Morgan is charge of the arrangements.
Esther R. Langford
1926 - 2008
Grew up in Farmers Spur
Esther R. Langford, 82, died Friday at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Mrs. Langford was born April 3, 1926, in Denver to Jacob and Ruth (Wells) Reisig. She married Elmer N. Langford on Sept. 30, 1944, in Greeley.
She grew up in Farmers Spur, where her father had a blacksmith shop. She worked for Meadow Gold, College High and University Plaza, while her husband farmed.
Mrs. Langford was a member of Hillside Baptist Church in Greeley.
She is survived by her three sons, Leonard L. Langford of Seattle, Wash., Michael E. Langford of Evans and Darrell W. Langford of Orchard; one daughter, Barbara J. Ehn of Fort Morgan; four grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband.
Graveside services will be Tuesday at 2 p.m. in the New Elmwood Cemetery
in Fruita.
Memorial contributions can be made to Hospice Unit of North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Arrangements are entrusted to Snell-McLean Funeral Home.
David Hernandez
1945 - 2008
Iron worker enjoyed cars, music
David Hernandez, 63, lifelong area resident, died Friday at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley.
Hernandez was born March 12, 1945, in Hillrose to Ysmael and Josephine (Zapata) Hernandez. He worked in construction as an iron worker. He most recently worked for Hallmark Builders.
He enjoyed building and restoring hot rods and welding. Hernandez also enjoyed music and especially liked playing his guitars. David was a member of the Iron Workers Union.
Survivors include his daughter, Sandra Lynn Hernandez of Fort Morgan; his son, David Lee Hernandez of LaSalle; his sister, Minnie Amador of Los Angeles, Calif.; three brothers, Ricardo Hernandez of Eagle River, Alaska, Manuel Hernandez of Casper, Wyo., and Chuck Hernandez of Denver; eight grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Steven Hernandez; his sister, Helen Murillo; and his parents.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush.
Funeral services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Brush. Interment will follow in the Brush Memorial Cemetery.
Memorial donations may be made in Hernandez’s name to the Heer Mortuary.
Park Adam Russell
1988 - 2008
Colorado native was student of art
Park Adam Russell, 20, of Milliken, died of cancer Sunday at University Hospital in Denver.
Russell was born March 7, 1988, in Colorado Springs to Jeffrey and Lori (Gertge) Russell.
A Colorado native, he lived in Colorado Springs, Windsor, Milliken and Denver, graduating from Roosevelt High School in 2006. He was a student at the Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design.
He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church in Windsor, an avid snowboarder, wakeboarder, muralist and sculptor.
Russell is survived by his parents and a sister, Chloe Russell, all of Milliken; grandparents, Dove and Phyllis Gertge of Fort Morgan and Ken and Janet Russell of Castle Rock; great-grandmother, Lois Spitz of Castle Rock; and great-grandfather, Clarence Scheopner of Goodland, Kan.
He was preceded in death by great-grandparents, James and Elizabeth Gertge, Clara Scheopner and George Spitz.
Visitation will be held from 7 to 7:30 p.m., Thursday at Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Church. Recitation of the Rosary will be held from 7:30 to 8 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the Roosevelt High School gymnasium in Johnstown with interment to follow at Johnstown Cemetery. A reception at Roosevelt High School will follow the graveside service.

George H. Reid Sr.
1921 - 2008
Born on family farm outside Akron
George H. Reid Sr., 87, longtime resident of Farmington, N.M., died Saturday at San Juan Regional Medical Center in Farmington.
Reid was born Nov. 7, 1921, to William Preston Reid and Elizabeth Kircher Reid on the family farm northeast of Akron. He graduated from high school in Akron and entered Colorado State University to study veterinary medicine. He left school to join the U.S. Marine Corps in 1942, where he served and fought in the World War II island-hopping campaign in the South Pacific.
He married Betty Jean Tunison on Feb. 28, 1946. They moved to the Farmington area in 1957 after a try at ranching in southwest Colorado. Reid went to work roughnecking and eventually retired as switcher for the Gas Company of New Mexico in 1986.
Reid is survived by his children, James Reid of Fort Morgan, Steve Reid of Casper, Wyo., David Reid of Portland, Ore., Betty Rice of Farmer’s Branch, Texas, and George Reid Jr. of Bloomfield; 10 grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and all of his siblings.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. today at Memory Gardens Cemetery
in Farmington with Pastor Steve Carrington officiating. Full military honors will be provided by VFW Post #2182. Interment will follow the service.
Funeral services for George have been entrusted to Brewer, Lee and Larkin Funeral Home, 103 East Ute St. in Farmington.
Memorial contributions can be given to the charity of your choice in Reid’s name.
Grace Telu Nukaya
1926 - 2008
Registered nurse enoyed knitting, gardening
Grace Telu Nukaya, 82, lifelong area resident, died Friday at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush.
Mrs. Nukaya was born March 31, 1926, in Atwood to Kaichiro and Shima (Kamimura) Mori. She married Hajime “Jimmy” Nukaya on March 8, 1953, in Sterling.
She was a registered nurse.
Mrs. Nukaya enjoyed knitting, crocheting, quilting and making afghans. She also enjoyed crafts, drawing and working in her flower and vegetable gardens.
She belonged to a Nursing Professionals Association and was also a member of a Women’s Club in Wiggins.
Survivors include her husband, Jimmy of Wiggins; one daughter, Lorraine Abney of Los Alamos, N. M.; two brothers, Roy Mori and Bob Mori, both of Atwood; one sister, Louise Kawakami of Lakewood; and one grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one son, Mark Nukaya; five brothers; and two sisters.
Memorial services will be Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at the Heer Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Inurnment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.
The Heer Mortuary and Crematory in Fort Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.
Becca Bonds
1996 - 2008
Weldon Valley student loved friends, sports, animals
Becca Bonds, 12, died Tuesday night at North Colorado Medical Center inpatient hospice unit after a lengthy illness.
Miss Bonds was born March 19, 1996, in Mesa, Ariz., to Darryl and Barbara Bonds. At the time of her death, she was a sixth grader at Weldon Valley School. The Bonds family has lived in the Weldona Valley community for the past six years.
She cared more about others than herself, she was the social butterfly at school, and enjoyed spending time with her friends, especially having sleepovers. Miss Bonds enjoyed participating in basketball, volleyball, and swimming. She most enjoyed spending her time with animals of all types.
Survivors include her parents, one sister, Allie and one brother, Stetson, all of Weldona; grandparents, Roger and Linda Bruntz of Weldona, Ted and Frances Wing of Parker, and Terry and Denise Bonds of Scottsdale, Ariz.; and her great-grandparents, Rex and Loretta Wing of Weir, Kan., Deloris Lisco and Harold Seeger, both of Aurora.
A celebration service of Miss Bonds’ life will be held at her most favorite location — Riverside Park in Fort Morgan by the duck pond. The service will be at 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 25. Those attending are encouraged to bring their own chairs. The service will conclude at the park.

Tina Elrick

Passion was working as dance instructor
Tina Elrick, 53, former Fort Morgan resident, died Tuesday night at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley following an extended illness.
Mrs. Elrick was born June 26, 1955, in Denver to Stanley and Joyce Tieman. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1973 and later from Aims Community College in Greeley. Her passion in life was working as a dance instructor.
She was a former member of the Fort Morgan Rotary Club, she loved music and spending time in the mountains. Mrs. Elrick enjoyed watching sporting events, especially when her family was participating. She was a member of the Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Greeley.
Survivors include her husband, Jim, of Kersey; three sons, Jason Wickham of Fort Morgan, Brad Wickham of Brush and Mitch Elrick of Kersey; her mother, Joyce Tieman of Fort Morgan; one brother, Randy Tieman of Fort Collins; one sister, Lisa Long of Dallas, Texas; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at the Lutheran Church of Our Redeemer, 1100 W. Platte Ave. in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens.

Ray Hawkins
1919 - 2008
WWII vet worked for Honeywell Corp.
Ray Hawkins, 89, died Friday at the Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Brush.
Hawkins was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Benson, Minn., to Daniel O. and Goldie Hawkins. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He married Joanne Lieske in St. Paul, Minn., on July 29, 1950.
Prior to retirement, he worked as a parts inspector for Honeywell Corp. In 1999, he and his wife moved to Brush.
He enjoyed fishing and working in his yard and garden.
Survivors include his wife, Joanne, of Brush; three children, Pamela Beckius of Jordan, Minn., Gregory Hawkins of Delano, Minn., and Terri Ann Hawkins of Phoenix, Ariz.; 11 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marie Linn; and two brothers, Gary and Bud.
Visitation will be held at the Dingman Chapel in Kimball, Minn., on Saturday from 11 a.m. to noon.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at noon at the Dingman Funeral Chapel.
