Betty Jean Sagel

Betty Jean Sagel, 79, lifelong Fort Morgan resident, died Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2006 at the Bee Hive Assisted Living Center in Fort Morgan. Mrs. Sagel was born Jan. 28, 1927, in Fort Morgan to Adam and Clara Alles. She married Edward Sagel Aug. 11, 1946, in Fort Morgan.

She was an active member of the Christ Congregational Church serving as a deaconess, Sunday school teacher, director of Bible school and member of the Mary Martha Circle. Mrs. Sagel was also charter president of the Fort Morgan Does, a member of the VFW Auxiliary, past president of the Columbine School PTA and a Cub Scout den mother. She enjoyed reading, playing bridge and crocheting.

Survivors include two sons, Gary Sagel and Robert Sagel, both of Fort Morgan; six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Edward; one son, James Sagel; a sister, Marge Zimbleman, and two brothers, Richard and Harold Alles.

Memorial services will be Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the Christ Congregational Church. Inurnment will follow in Memory Gardens.

Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to either the Christ Congregational Church in Fort Morgan or to the Fort Morgan Elks Lodge Building Fund.

The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of the arrangements.

Agnes Virginia (Meyer) Mese

Agnes Virginia (Meyer) Mese, 76, of Akron died Saturday, Jan. 28, 2006 at the Washington County Nursing Home in Akron. Mrs. Mese was born May 22, 1929, in Crook to John and Catherine (Mill) Meyer Sr. She married Alfred John (Lefty) Mese Nov. 27, 1946, in Fort Morgan.

She is survived by two sons, Greg Mese of Fort Morgan and Jason Mese of Kingfisher, Okla.; two daughters, Carol Copeland of Akron and Cyndi Bowers of Lindon; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren and two stepgreat-grandchildren.

Mrs. Mese was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Alfred (Lefty) Mese; son, Mark; daughter, Cathy; grandson, Joshua; six sisters, Hilda, Anna, Helena, Leona, Catherine and Mary, and one brother, Pete Jr.

Memorial contributions in Mrs. Mese's memory may be made to the family.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, at 11 a.m. from the Brenner Funeral Home in Akron with Pastor Garland Baker officiating. Interment will follow in the Akron Cemetery with Brenner Funeral Home in charge of the arrangements.

Patricia Marie Cameron

Patricia Marie Cameron, 84, a longtime resident of Brush, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2006 at the East Morgan County Hospital. Mrs. Cameron was born Oct. 5, 1921, in Kimball, S.D., to John and Florence Brady. After her father's death, the Brady family moved to Hugo and later Limon. She graduated from Limon High School in 1940.

She married Merle Cameron Oct. 13, 1941, in Raton, N.M. The Cameron family moved to Brush in 1948. She worked for JCPenney and later was a secretary at the Farm Bureau Insurance Company.

She was a member of the Bethlehem Lutheran Church and Eastern Star No. 54. She loved to go camping, travel and spend time with family and friends, especially being with her grandchildren.

Survivors include her husband, Merle of Brush; one son, Dwayne of Aurora; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Dwight; two sisters; one brother and her parents.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, 603 Custer St. in Brush. The service will conclude at the church. Inurnment will be at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Heer Mortuary & Crematory is in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Friends who wish may make memorial gifts to the Bethlehem Lutheran Church, the American Cancer Society Research Division or to the charity of the donor's choice.

Lyle G. Washburn

Lyle G. Washburn, 64, died Friday, March 10, 2006 at a Hospice Care Center in Carlsbad, Calif. Washburn was born Sept. 14, 1941, in Fort Morgan to George A. and Vera L. Washburn. He was raised on a farm southwest of Wiggins and graduated from Wiggins High School in 1959.

After graduating, he joined the United States Navy for his tour of duty. He worked in the naval shipyards in Maine and also for Boeing Aircraft in Seattle as a machinist. Ill health forced his retirement approximately 20 years ago. He loved spending time with his daughter. He had lived in San Diego, Calif., for the last 20 years.

He married Georgia Martin May 1, 1965, in Cape Neddick, Maine.

Survivors include his daughter, Elisa Washburn of Chino Hills, Calif.; mother, Vera L. Washburn of Log Lane Village; one brother, Melvin R. Washburn of Fort Morgan; six sisters, Evelyn Cooksey of Roggen, Shirli Timmons and Vernetta Washburn, both of Brush, Vera Kay Guerin of Spring Grove, Ill., and Patricia Massa and Bonnie Reddick, both of Hillrose.

He was preceded in death by his father and one sister, Verna Washburn.

Visitation will be Friday from 5 until 7 p.m. at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan.

Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends who wish may make memorial gifts in Washburn's name in care of the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, 80701.

T.R. Groves

"T.R." Theodore Raymond Groves, 65, of Wiggins, died at home on April 3, 2006.

T.R. was born June 11, 1940, to James Theodore and Hazel Luella Groves in Fort Morgan, CO. He married Janet E. Knapp on November 8, 1959, and divorced in 1984. In May of 1995, he married Patsy J. Stout.

He grew up on a ranch outside of Orchard, CO. He loved to hunt, fish and rodeo. T.R. worked for 30 years at Kammerer Dairy and Farm. Later he painted houses and was the co-owner of Grandma's Kitchen in Wiggins, CO.

T.R. is survived by his first wife, Janet Knapp, and present wife, Pat Groves; sons, Bill, Scott and Bobby Groves, Greg, Troy and Kevin Freauff; daughter, Brenda (Groves) Speaker; three brothers, Dean, Sonny and Jerry of Orchard, CO; six sisters, Thea, Sharon and Susie of Fort Morgan, Thora and Wanda of Orchard and Ellie of Westminster; and 24 grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Celebration of his life will be held April 15, 2006, at the Orchard I.O.O.F. at 3 p.m.

Memorial contributions may be made to Fort Morgan Hospice.

Andrena Parachini, 85, dies

Andrena Parachini, 85, a lifelong Morgan County resident, died Tuesday evening, April 4, 2006 at the Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. Funeral arrangements are being made and will be announced later. The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary is in charge of the arrangements.

Morgan Hazel Jones

Hazel Jones, 81, of Fort Morgan died Monday, April 3, 2006 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. Mrs. Jones was born April 9, 1924, in Henderson, Neb., to Clarence and Tracy Johnson. She married Robert Jones Sept. 9, 1941.

They farmed in the New Raymer area before moving to Fort Morgan to run the Southworth Filling Station and Café west of Fort Morgan. In 1956, they started the South Side Auto Salvage Co. on South Main Street. After her husband died, she kept the business running for several more years.

She was a member of the First Christian Church, the VFW Auxiliary, the American Legion Auxiliary, the Thimble Club, the Friendship Club at the Hillcrest Apartments, and she was a life member of the Clavis Club. She enjoyed dancing, fishing, crocheting and especially enjoyed playing bingo.

Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters, Tracy Nichols of Brush and Marilyn Klipfel of Fort Morgan; one sister, Beulah Klinginsmith of Bushnell, Neb.; 20 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; one daughter, Roberta Saxton; two brothers, Elmer Johnson and Clarence Johnson, and her parents.

Visitation will be held Thursday from 3 to 6 p.m. at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary.

Funeral services will be held Friday at 2 p.m. at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel. Interment will follow in Riverside Cemetery.

Friends who wish may make memorial donations in Mrs. Jones' name c/o the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary, 225 E. Platte Ave., Fort Morgan, 80701.

The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary is charge of the arrangements.

David Alan Lehman

David Alan Lehman, 48, of Fort Morgan died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 at Colorado Plains Medical Center.

Lehman was born in Aberdeen, S.D., to Keith and Betsy (King) Lehman March 30, 1958. He attended school in Loveland and Fort Morgan and joined the Marine Reserves in 1975. He lived and worked most of his life in the Fort Morgan area. He was currently enrolled in the MCC welding program.

Survivors include his wife, Marci Castillo of Fort Morgan; his parents; a brother, Dan of Fort Morgan; one sister, D'Anne Hays of Littleton; two stepchildren, Linda Castillo of Greeley and Rocky Castillo of Grand Junction, and five stepgrandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Isabel and Louis King and Paul and Mary Lehman.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Helena Catholic Church.

A memorial has been established to the American Cancer Fund.

The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary is in charge of the cremation.

Andrena Parachini

Andrena (Covelli) Parachini, 85, of Weldona died Tuesday, April 4, 2006 at Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan.

Mrs. Parachini was born Aug. 8, 1920, to Beatrice and Illario Covelli in Fort Morgan. She grew up on the family farm west of Fort Morgan and attended school in Fort Morgan. She married Tony Parachini at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church March 3, 1946, in Weldona. They spent their entire marrried life on the farm west of Weldona. Mrs. Parachini loved to work in the yard, cook, try new recipies and spend time with family and friends.

She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi, Altar & Rosary Society, a charter member of the GLAD Club of Goodrich, also a charter member of the Calico Club and a catechism teacher for many years.

Mrs. Parachini is survived by four children, Joe Parachini of Grand Island, Neb., Jeanne Richardson of Orchard, Marylyn Riddle and Kathy Shaver, both of Weldona; a sister, Judy Hall of Arizona; a brother, Bert Covelli of Fort Morgan; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Tony; her parents; two sisters, Gloria Hanna and Mary Kammerer, and three brothers, Dominick, Guido and Louie Covelli.

Visitation will be held Sunday at the St. Francis of Assisi Church in Weldona beginning at 6 p.m. to be followed by a rosary at 7:30 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday at 10:30 a.m. at the St. Helena Catholic Church in Fort Morgan. Interment will follow in the Riverside Cemetery.

Memorial gifts may be made in Mrs. Parachini's name to the Alzheimer's Association or to the Parkinson's Association.

Virgil E. Blake

Virgil E. Blake, 58, a lifelong resident of the Woodrow community, died Wednesday, April 5, 2006 evening at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Denver. Blake was born July 22, 1947, in Brush, to Oscar and Agnes Blake. He graduated from Woodlin High School in 1965.

Amelia Neiberger, Sterling

Amelia G. Neiberger, 90, of Sterling, CO, died Thursday, April 6, 2006, at Greeley Hospice care unit. Mrs. Neiberger was born March 1916, in Lu Ray, KS, to Louis Peter Mangold and Frieda Gertrude Gaubatz Mangold; both emigrated from Germany in the early 1900's. Her mother died when Amelia was 9 years old.

Carlos Paul Ramirez, 26

Carlos Paul Ramirez, 26, of Fort Morgan died Saturday, April 8, 2006 at Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. Ramirez was born Dec. 29, 1979, in Denver to Luis and Virginia Ramirez. He married Celina M. Hurtado March 3 in Fort Morgan. He has lived in Fort Morgan for 11 years since moving from Albuquerque, N.M.

Jean Saterlie Johnson, 85

Jean Elizabeth Saterlie Johnson, 85, a former Fort Morgan High School librarian, died April 4, 2006. Mrs. Johnson was born May 17, 1920, to Arthur and Mary Saterlie. She had a long career in education. She was raised in Pillager, Minn. She was valedictorian of her 10-member high school class.

Gary Schultz, 54, of Brush

Gary Dennis Schultz, 54, of Brush died late Wednesday, April 12, 2006 at the North Colorado Hospice Unit in Greeley. Schultz was born Nov. 5, 1951, in Brush to Alexander and Helen (Geisick) Schultz. He has been a resident at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush since 1995.

Lourien K. King, 94, Brush

Lourien K. King, 94, longtime Brush resident, died Thursday, April 13, 2006 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center. Mrs. King was born July 11, 1912, in Arapahoe, Neb., to Henry and Lena Breinig. She married Albert King Dec. 27, 1934, in Arapahoe. The Kings moved to the Brush community in 1938.

Richard Schneider

Richard Wayne "Dick" Schneider, 60, of Longmont died Tuesday, April 11, 2006 at Longmont United Hospital in Longmont. Schneider was born Sept. 21, 1945, to Phillip and Hilda (Weimer) Schneider Jr. in Greeley. He grew up in Greeley and graduated from Greeley High School in 1963. He married Susan Nyholt Sept. 19, 1970, in Henderson.

Phillip E. Voeller

Phillip Ellsworth Voeller, 89, former resident of Fort Morgan and resident of Portland, Ore., died Sunday, April 30, 2006 in Portland.

Voeller was born Nov. 10, 1916, in St. Francis, Kan., where he farmed wheat until 1950. He was a truck driver for Willard Reid Lumber Co., in Fort Morgan before moving in 1970 to Fairview, Ore., where he was a custodian for Centennial High School for 10 years. In 1940, he married Viola Frodin.

Survivors include his wife, Viola; two sisters, Gertrude Holzwarth and Ethel Mae Blair; one brother, Kenneth Voeller; two grandchildren; six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one daughter, Gerri Witham.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, May 8, at Rose City Funeral Home. Concluding services and entombment were held at Forest Lawn Cemetery

Memorial gifts may be made to the American Cancer Society.

Anna Mae Pattee, 88 Former Brush woman pilot during World War II

Anna Mae Pattee, 88, of Laguna Beach, Calif., and formerly of Brush, died June 15 after a lengthy illness. Mrs. Pattee was born April 17, 1918, in Weldona to Alonzo and Anna Petteys. Two years later, the family moved to Brush, where she attended school.

Richard M. Nestor

Richard Melvin Nestor, 42, of Sterling, passed away Aug. 1, 2006, in Fort Morgan, Colo. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 4, at Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 5, at the First Baptist Church with the Rev. John Roberts officiating.
