Bettijoy McGuire
Bettijoy McGuire went to be with Our Lord and Savior on July 3, 2008.
She was born and raised in Minnesota in 1931, moved to Denver in the 50 s and came to Brush in 2003.
She was one of 4 sisters, Merlie Morrow, deceased; Jokki Peyer of California and Loewy Anderson of Minnesota.
She had five children, Bob McCann, deceased; Mike Morrow; Bunny Wathier; Scott Morrow and Andrew Morrow. She had 12 grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren.
Bettijoy loved all and was loved by all.
Some of her friends at Tabor Apartments said she was a cheerful model for us to follow , another stated.
As we travel through life, we meet special people who truly touch our souls. Bettijoy was one of these people and will be truly missed by us.
She was a seamstress, a beautician, a restaurant owner, a poet, the creator of the Joy Drop-Seat Jumpsuit Pattern and above all, she loved the Lord and her family.
We will be remembering her on Saturday, July 26, 2008, at the All Saints Church at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center at 4 p.m. in Brush.
Edith Hubbard, Brush
1914 - 2008
Edith Hubbard, 94, passed away Monday, July 21, 2008, at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush.
She was born January 31, 1914, in Parawon, UT, to James and Lottie Pendelton.
On December 25, 1942, Edith married Leon E. Hubbard in Leoti, KS. The Hubbard family lived in Burlington, CO community from 1951 until they moved to Morgan County in 1978.
While living in Burlington, Leon farmed.
Survivors include four children, James Hubbard of Santa Clarita, CA; Donald Hubbard of Durham, NC, Dean Hubbard of Fargo, ND; and Sharon Burton of Fairbanks, Alaska; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leon, who died August 5, 1994; one sister, two brothers, and her parents.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, July 31, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the All Saints Lutheran Church at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush.
The service will conclude at the church.
A reception will follow at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center.
The Heer Mortuary & Crematory is entrusted with the cremation arrangements.
George Wales, 79, dies
George A. Wales, 79, of Ft. Morgan, died Wednesday, June 26, 2002 at his home in Ft. Morgan, surrounded by his family. He was born October 9, 1922 in Hanna, WY. to Mary Jane and George A. Wales Sr. He served in the Army Air Corps.
Tom Porter of Lindon dies
Tom L. Porter, 72, of Lindon died Tuesday at the Aurora Medical Center. He was born Sept. 18, 1930, in Brush to Guy L. and Ida (Richards) Porter. Porter grew up on the family homestead northwest of Lindon and attended grade school at the Antioch School.
Mildred Johnson, 91, dies
Mildred M. Johnson, 91, died Thursday at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Mrs. Johnson was born May 12, 1911, in Chicago, Ill., to Joseph and Carolina Marek.
Faye Mayfield dies at 84
Faye Nina Mayfield, 84, longtime resident of Fort Morgan, died Wednesday at the Valley View Villa in Fort Morgan. Mrs. Mayfield was born Dec. 17, 1917, in Kansas City, Mo., to Sterling and Bessie Payne. She came to Morgan County from Kansas.
'Billy' Herold dies at age 77
William "Billy" Carl Herold, 77, of Keenesburg died Tuesday at North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. Herold was born Aug. 18, 1925, in Fort Morgan to William and Minnie (Jacobson) Herold. He attended schools in Fort Morgan.
Virginia Pyle, Akron, dies
Virginia May Pyle, 77, of Akron died Sunday at her home in Akron. Mrs. Pyle was born Sept. 6, 1925, in Roaring Fork, Va., to Ballard and Rebecca (Mullins) Sturgell. Her childhood years and schooling were spent in Virgina where her father worked in the coalmines.
Beverly A. Moody dies Sat.
Beverly Ann Moody, born May 29, 1931, passed away Saturday night, Dec. 14, 2002 at her home in Fort Morgan. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Robert, her children, Roger, Sheila, Jeri, Susan, Bobbi, Becky, Dona and Michael, 11 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren.
'Butch' Holloway, 49, dies William "Butch" Holloway
William "Butch" Holloway, 49, lifelong resident of Fort Morgan, died Sunday, Dec. 15, 2002 at the Colorado Plains Medical Center in Fort Morgan. Holloway was born Feb. 20, 1953, in Three Hills, Alberta, Canada, to Billy and Eleanor Holloway.
Clavis Club co-founder dies
Felix I. Martinez, 75, died Friday, Dec. 13, 2002 at East Morgan County Hospital in Brush. Martinez was born Sept. 6, 1927, in Waco, Texas, to Juan and Louise Martinez. He married Ruth Alonzo on Nov. 22, 1948, in Fort Morgan.
Joann Burdette McKenzie, Morgan native dies at 77
Joann Burdette McKenzie, 77, died Nov. 26, 2002 in San Clemente, Calif. Mrs. McKenzie was born April 19, 1925, in Fort Morgan to Archie and Cleo Williams Burdette. Following graduation from Fort Morgan High School in 1943, Mrs. McKenzie moved to California.
'Scoop' Gilliland dies at 80 Ray C. "Scoop" Gilliland
Ray C. "Scoop" Gilliland, 80, of Wiggins died Sunday, Feb. 9, 2003 at his home in Wiggins. Gilliland was born in Wiggins Nov. 27, 1922, to Ray Clark and Mina Gilliland. Gilliland attended school in Wiggins and in 1938 joined the Civilian Concentration Camp, working in Idaho Springs for six months.
Dora Duncan dies at 94
Dora M. Duncan, 94, of Brush died Monday, Feb. 10, 2003 at the Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center. Mrs. Duncan was born Feb. 7, 1909, in Earling, Iowa, to Andrew and Cora Ellen Pace. On Jan. 17, 1927, she married Paul A. Price in Dow City, Iowa. They later divorced, and she married Walter Duncan in Raton, N.M. on April 19, 1954.
Delores Lee Preston Ward
Delores Lee Preston Ward, 68, of Cody, Wyo., died on Saturday, Feb. 8, 2003 at the West Park Long Term Care Center. Mrs. Ward was born Aug. 8, 1934, to William Edwin and Lola Mae Preston in Fort Morgan. She graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1953. In October of 1953 she married Jay A. Ward.
Matilda Peyton
Matilda Peyton, 98, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died Wednesday, April 9, 2003 at Eben Ezer Lutheran Care Center in Brush. Mrs. Peyton was born on March 6, 1905, in St. Louis, Mo., to Harry and Edith Pollard.

Edward Stark, 79, of Wiggins died Thursday, June 12, 2003 at his home. Funeral arrangements will be announced later by the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan.
Theresea Shea dies at 97
Theresea Katherine Shea, 97, of Fort Morgan and formerly of Grand Junction, passed away Friday, July 25, 2003 at the East Morgan County Hospital in Brush, Colorado. Theresea Katherine Miller was born June 3, 1906, in Hugo, Colorado. Everyone called her Katherine. Her family came from Ohio to homestead there.
'Gene' Pribble dies at 78
Ralph "Gene" Pribble, 78, died Nov. 25, 2003 in Yuma, Ariz. Pribble was born Sept. 26, 1925, in Akron to Mabel and Bert Pribble. He grew up in Akron and attended Akron schools. He entered the Navy at 17 years of age and served in World War II. After the war, he relocated to Salem, Ore.
Mary Grooms
Mary Grooms, 99, of Greeley, a well-known former resident of Akron, died Monday in Greeley. Mrs. Grooms was born in Missouri on Nov. 7, 1904, to George Washington and Mary Catherine Allen. She was able to attend school only through the third grade. She moved from Missouri to Colorado.
Dale Asper
Dale Asper, 86, former Brush resident, died May 26, 2004 in Mesa, Ariz. Asper was born Oct. 14, 1917, to Hans and Milda Asper of Artesian, S.D. He married Beverly Peterson July 14, 1940. During World War II he served as a C-46 pilot flying 97 missions in the China-Burma-India theater.
R. Scheneman dies in Greeley
Ronald Scheneman, 62, of Fort Morgan died Sunday, Aug. 8, 2004 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. Arrangements will be announced later by the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan.

Jeri Lynn (Green) Hodge, 42, lifelong Brush resident, died early Wednesday morning, Sept. 15, 2004 at her home in Brush. Mrs. Hodge was born April 28, 1962, in Denver to Eldon C. and Vera L. Green. She was a member of the Trinity Baptist Church in Brush.
Marvin L. Weimer
Marvin L. Weimer, 63, of Aiken, S.C., a former resident of Fort Morgan, died Monday, Oct. 4, 2004 at his residence. Weimer was born in Fort Morgan June 25, 1941, to John and Ruth (Lauck) Weimer. He grew up on his family's dairy farm and graduated from Fort Morgan High School in 1959.
Mary Louise (Rusch) Kress
Mary Louise (Rusch) Kress, 81, passed away October 5, 2004 at the Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins. She was born December 28, 1922 in Bayard, Nebraska to John and Mary (Betzold) Rusch. Mary was baptized (Maria Luisa Rusch) on February 4, 1923 in the Bayard, Nebraska Evangelical Lutheran Zion Church.
Elizabeth "Ruby" Anderson
Elizabeth "Ruby" Anderson, 87, of Brush, and former Iowa resident, died unexpectedly Sunday, Oct. 10, 2004 at her niece's home in Taos, N.M. She was born Feb. 23, 1917 in Dawson, IA to Ralph Fillmore and Jeanie Binning (Muir) Everhart. Ruby graduated from Rippey High School in Rippey, IA in 1935.
Arla Mae Hall
Arla Mae Hall, 79, of Idalia died Friday, Oct. 1, 2004 at the North Colorado Medical Center in Greeley. Mrs. Hall was born Dec. 22, 1924, in Bayard, Neb., to Marion and Lorna Devore. She spent her childhood in Bayard and graduated from Bayard High School in 1943. She married Edgar Hall Feb. 19, 1944, in Bridgeport, Neb.
Farrell Woodard, 87, dies
Farrell Wayne Woodard, 87, former Denver area resident, died Tuesday, Oct. 19, 2004 at Sunset Manor Nursing Home in Brush. Woodard was born April 6, 1917, in Winfield, Kan., to E.E. and Ruth (Bernard) Woodard. He was a geologist and did oil and gas exploration for petroleum companies.
Thomas Reagan
Thomas Reagan of Fort Morgan died on October 20, 2004 in Brush, CO after a long illness. He was born Nov. 26, 1942 in Staten Island, NY as one of the eight children of Vincent and Grace Reagan. Tom was married to Eileen Curci on July 28, 1962, and they moved to Colorado in 1974
Marylyn Canfield, 81, dies
Marylyn Henness Canfield, 81, died Friday, Dec. 3, 2004 in Ottumwa, Iowa. Mrs. Canfield was born Aug. 12, 1923, to Dewey and Ferne Henness. She is survived by her son, Jerry Canfield of Ottumwa; her daughter, Lynn Whittom of Blythedale, Mo.

Mary Maxine Rockwell (Whittenburg) passed away Tuesday, December 28, 2004 at the Boulder Community Hospital in Boulder Colorado. Mrs. Rockwell was born in Eckley, Colorado on July 5, 1916 to Roscoe and Stella (Sutter) Whittenburg. She married Clem R. Rockwell on February 7, 1934 in Wray, Colorado.

Hugo F. "Smitty" Smith, 76, of Sterling, died Wednesday, March 30, 2005 in Fort Collins. Smith was born Jan. 1, 1929 in Savannah, Ga., to Andrew Francis and Mildred (Johnson) Smith. Etheldean F. Bell, 97, died Monday, Aug. 22, 2005 at the Valley View Villa Care Center in Fort Morgan. Mrs. Bell was born Nov. 26, 1907, in Fort Morgan to R.O. and Lizzie Ferguson. She married Rev. William I. Bell July 26, 1933, in Fort Morgan. She retired from a long career in teaching in 1976
Clara Krupske Atkins
Clara Krupske Atkins, 88, died Wednesday, Nov. 30, 2005 in Fort Morgan. She was born in Willard Aug. 11, 1917, to Alfred and Marie Krupske and lived in Colorado all her life. She married Charles Howard Atkins Dec. 31, 1935. She was a longtime member of Rebecca's Lodge and the United Methodist Church in Merino.
Adalee "Faye" VanMeter
Adalee "Faye" VanMeter, 75, longtime Fort Morgan resident, died Tuesday evening, Jan. 31, 2006 at her home. Mrs. VanMeter was born Aug. 1, 1930, in Olney Springs to Elmer and Irene (McGill) Watts. She married Merle VanMeter Dec. 15, 1949, in Raton, N.M. They moved to Fort Morgan in 1967.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed raising calves on the farm and also enjoyed attending her grandchildren's sporting events. Her greatest joy was being a mother and grandmother.
Mrs. VanMeter is survived by her husband, Merle of Fort Morgan; three daughters, LuAnn Whalen of Elko, Nev., Merlene Patterson of Longmont and Lorie Weber of Soldotna, Alaska; three sons, Ron VanMeter of Wells, Nev., Melvin VanMeter of Weldona and Lonnie VanMeter of Fort Morgan; two sisters, JoAnn Houchens of Fort Morgan and Gail Watts of Henderson, Nev.; 17 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Floyd Watts and Gene Watts, and an infant child.
Visitation will be Friday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary Chapel in Fort Morgan.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 2 p.m., also at the chapel. Interment will follow in Memory Gardens in Fort Morgan.
Memorials may be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of Northern Colorado, 1106 E. Sixth Ave., Fort Morgan.
The Heer & Jolliffe Mortuary in Fort Morgan is in charge of arrangements.
