He was born June 1, 1923 in Harrisburg, CO to Harley and Mary Vivian Cable.
He served in the US Army during WWII.
On June 1, 1952 he married Faye M. Griese at Last Chance, CO. He was a farmer/rancher and also worked at the beef plant and the sugar factory.
He ran the Last Chance Motel and later Crain’s Cafe.
Mr. Cable was a member of the VFW #2551 and the Morgan Church of the Nazarene.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and woodworking and fried chicken as his favorite meal.
He is survived by his wife, Faye of Brush; four children, Vivian Reed, and her husband, Clarence, of Greeley, Diana Partney, and her husband Jim, of Yuma, CO, Gloria Webb, and her husband, Ken, of Brush; and Wesley Cable, and his wife, Nancy, of Cheyenne, WY; 12 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren, and three great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Virginia and Barbara, and one brother, Harl.
A Memorial Service for Mr. Cable were Friday, April 11, 2008, at the Morgan Church of the Nazarene in Fort Morgan at 11 a.m.
Inurnment was in the Brush Memorial Cemetery
Columbarium.

Delbert Raymond Lessman, Peetz, and formerly of Sidney, Neb.
1931 - 2008
Delbert Raymond Lessman, 77 of Peetz, and formerly of the Sidney, Neb., area, passed away early Tuesday morning, April 8, at the Memorial Health Center in Sidney. Friends may stop at the Gehrig-Stitt Chapel on from 1 to 6 p.m. Thursday, April 10. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m., Friday, April 11, at Holy Trinity Lutheran Church with Pastor Edgar Schambach officiating. Burial will follow in the Dalton Cemetery.
Delbert was born March 13, 1931, to Raymond Harold and Esther Sophia (Borcher) Lessman in Sidney, Neb. He attended the Salem Lutheran School near Gurley, Neb., and graduated from Sidney High School with the Class of 1948.
He joined the Nebraska National Guard and was employed with the Union Pacific Railroad.
On June 19, 1952, Delbert was united in marriage to Frances Mortensen. He became a self-employed paint contractor before starting to farm full-time in 1976, farming until illness would not allow him to continue.
Delbert was member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church, the Sidney Elks Lodge and had been a National Pool Tournament Player.
He is survived by his special friend, Pat Segelke of Peetz and her family; his children, Kathleen Dinges and husband Bill of Sidney, Neb., Darwin Lessman and wife Janie of Wellington, and Charlene Larson of Gurley, Neb.; five sisters, Deloris Steffens and husband Bob and LaDonna Jung and husband Alferd, both of Sidney, Janice Schilz and husband Darrel of Gering, Neb., Marcella Rapp and husband Chuck of Lakewood, and LaJean Campion and husband Charlie of Loveland; six grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandson.
Delbert was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Esther, and one son-in-law, Art Larson.

Mable Marie Schenk, Akron
1915 - 2008
Mable Marie Schenk, 92, died Feb. 29, 2008 at the Washington County Nursing Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday, March 4, at First Presbyterian Church of Akron, with interment following at Akron Cemetery.
Ms. Schenk was born Nov. 18, 1915, to John and Katherine (Schmidt) Schenk on the family homestead south of Akron. She attended Rosalind School and graduated from the eighth grade with the highest grade point average in Washington County. She graduated from Akron High School in 1933.
After high school, Ms. Schenk enrolled in the Denver Opportunity School for a two year course. She was employed in Akron before leaving for Denver in 1942 to work for the Bureau of Reclamation. For over 30 years, she was employed in the Federal Career Service.
She was baptized at the home of Julius Jesse as a young child. She was confirmed in the Congregational Church in 1929. After moving to Denver, Ms. Schenk became a member of Plymouth Congregational Church.
She was a member of the Association of Germans from Russia and attended several national conventions. She was fluent in German and greatly enjoyed speaking with others of similar heritage.
Ms. Schenk is survived by a sister, Esther Sampson; brother, Robert Schenk and wife Dorothy; one niece and five nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Katherine Schenk; and brothers, John and George Schenk.

Richard "Dick" Dale Uhlenhopp, Brush
1917 - 2008
Richard Dale “Dick” Uhlenhopp, 90, of Brush, died Feb. 3, 2008 in Brush. A private memorial service was held Feb. 9 in Akron, followed by burial at the Akron cemetery.
Dick was born Feb. 17, 1917, in Kesley, Iowa. After graduating from Kesley High School in 1934, Dick briefly took up boxing. He especially enjoyed reminiscing on the days he fought in the semi-finals of the 1935 Golden Gloves boxing tournament in Chicago.
By 1937, Dick had moved to Colorado where he worked in Denver until 1939, when he came to Sterling to manage the original Wash Brothers Grocery. In 1944 he and his wife, Shirley (Mahaffey), and young son, Ron, moved to Akron where Dick was partner, and later owner, of the Akron Wash Brothers Grocery. He was a founding member of the independent grocers’ association, Associated Grocers of Colorado. Over the years Dick and his brother, Milt, of Brush, opened supermarkets in Sterling (U-Save Supers and Big T Supers), Fort Morgan (Big T Supers) and Lamar (Best Bet Supers). Dick retired from the grocery business in 1991.
In the mid 1960s, Dick ventured into agriculture, owning the Double D Ranch southeast of Brush. He enjoyed both farming and ranching initially in conjunction with Dave Brown, now of Sterling, and later with son, Ron, who continues to work the ranch.
For many years Dick was a member of the Akron Volunteer Fire Department, The Akron Lions Club, the Akron Odd Fellows, and the Sterling J & L Coffee Group.
The Uhlenhopp family celebrated many happy occasions with Dick, the highlight being last year on his 90th birthday when 32 of his descendants and their spouses celebrated with him in Las Vegas.
A host of survivors include son, Ronald of Akron; and daughters, Sandy Jones and husband Phil of Winter Park, Sharon Stevens and husband Tom of Fort Morgan, and Rickie Fray and husband Russell of Las Vegas. Additionally he is missed by 12 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Shirley; daughter, Vickie; and infant son, Donald.

Keith Marvin Rogers, Akron
1926 - 2008
Keith Marvin Rogers, 81, died Feb. 10, 2008. Visitation will be from 2 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Brenner Funeral Home in Akron. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 15, at the United Methodist Church in Akron.
He was born April 21, 1926, to William Calvin and Lyda Goodale Rogers at the home place southeast of St. Francis, Kan.
Mr. Rogers came to Colorado in 1947. On Dec. 5, 1948, he married Gwyneth Lea Davisson in Akron.
He served in the Merchant Marines from Nov. 17, 1944 to Feb. 12, 1947. He joined the U.S. Army in Feb. 15, 1954, and was honorably discharged on Nov. 14, 1955. He received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal during his military service.
Mr. Rogers farmed, raised cattle and pigs and worked at the grain elevators in Platner and Akron. He spent more than 19 years in the oil field, working for Exeter Drilling with his son Byron for three of those years.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed traveling to watch his grandchildren play sports.
Mr. Rogers is survived by his wife, Gwen; their children, Byron Rogers and wife Debra of Akron, and Denise Rogers Piel and husband Stephen of Sterling; brother, Gene Simeon; sisters, Phyllis Miller and Joan Bayne; and six grandchildren, Robby Rogers and wife Kelly, Tess Rogers, Braden Piel, Meghan Piel, Daniel Campbell and Darrion Gibbs

Frankie Pachner, Sterling
1913 - 2008
Frankie Pachner, 94, of Sterling, died Sunday, Feb. 10, 2008, in Sterling. Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 14, at Chaney-Reager Funeral Home, with the Rev. Michael Young officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home.
Mr. Pachner was born Aug. 12, 1913, to Frank and Barbara (Ruzick) Pachner in Oberlin, Kan. He attended school in Oberlin.
He was a transmission mechanic, drove truck for Whitlock, and helped with his nephews on the farm in Akron.
Mr. Pachner was married to Marie Fisher from 1939 until she passed away in 1953. In 1966, he married Beulah Nicholson.
He enjoyed playing cards, his friends, playing bingo, and going to the dog races. He was proud of his Bohemian heritage and proud to be a Czechoslavakian.
He is survived by his wife, Beulah Pachner of Sterling; sons, Lary Pachner of Colorado, and William How of Iowa; daughters, Sandy Saenz of Wyoming, Pamela Riley of Minnesota, Linda Palmer of Minnesota, Rhonda Banda of New Mexico, and Barbara Clay of Nebraska; daughter-in-law, Suzanne How of Colorado; sister, Ann Kasper of Colorado; 26 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Katherine; brothers, John, Rudolph, Joseph, James, and Louis; sons, Robert and Gary; and daughters, Bridget and Teriah.

Neva Luella (Olson) Worthley, Akron
1916 - 2008
Neva Luella (Olson) Worthley, 91, of Akron, died Jan. 29, 2008. Memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at First Presbyterian Church in Akron. A private family interment will be held prior to the memorial service at Riverside Cemetery.
She was born Oct. 3, 1916, to Ella Horning Olson and Edward Olson at home north of Otis. She moved north of Akron as a child and lived with her Grandma and Grandpa Horning and Uncle Jess and Aunt Verna Horning.
Mrs. Worthley started school at Eagle Point and graduated from eighth grade at Libbey School.
She married Leo Worthley on Dec. 23, 1935, in Akron.
The family lived on several farms near Akron and Fleming. The couple moved into Pioneer Haven in Akron in 1982, where she lived until moving into Washington County Nursing Home in 2005.
Mrs. Worthley was a homemaker that lived her life around her family. She loved God and studied her Bible daily.
She is survived by her son, Bud Worthley and wife Sharlyn of Fort Morgan; daughters, Mary Spear, Dorthy Harms and husband Allen, all of Akron, and Bonnie Sweat and husband Richard of Colorado Springs; 14 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; and five great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo; brothers, Emmett Olson, Herbert Kubal and Jesse “Bub” Kubal; son, Bob; daughter, Cathy; son-in-law, Herb Spear; grandson, Blair Worthley; and granddaughter, Bonnie Bales.

Peggy Ann Kinnison-Walz, Ovid, CO
1961 - 2008
Peggy Ann Kinnison Walz, 47, of Ovid died July 5, 2008 in Ovid, CO. Peggy was born February 3, 1961 to Robert W Kinnison and Gloria (Rees) Kinnison. She graduated from Ovid High School in 1979 and then attended Barbazon graduating in 1980.
Peggy worked at Eves of Tamarac in Denver, was the secretary at Christ the Savior Lutheran Church in Denver, worked at Cabelas in Sidney, and was the Julesburg & Ovid Methodist Church secretary.
Peggy was a member of the Ovid Methodist Church. She enjoyed spending time with her grandson.
Peggy is survived by, son Tyler Robertson (Kelly) of Sterling, Grandson Michael Robertson of Sterling, father Robert Kinnison, mother Gloria Kinnison, Brothers Wayne Kinnison (Susan) and David Kinnison (Sharla), all of Ovid, and sister Mary Lu Kinnison, of Sterling.
Memorials can be made in Peggy’s name to Hospice of the Plains and Ovid Methodist Church. To honor Peggy’s request no services will be held.

Bruno Richard Cortez, 73, of Ovid, CO died July 2, 2008 in Greeley, CO. Visitation was Monday July 7, 2008 at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home. Funeral services were held Tuesday July 8, 2008 at Austin-Tennant Funeral Home in Julesburg, CO at 11AM with Pastor Rich Graeff officiating, burial followed at Hillside Cemetery
in Julesburg, CO.
Richard was born in Julesburg, CO March 4, 1935 to Bruno F. Cortez and Maria Lucia Placencia. He went to School in Julesburg, CO. Richard worked his whole life as a farmer outside of Ovid, CO.
Richard married Faith D. Ramos in 1965 and they were married from 1965 until her death in 1973. He later married Viola Garcia Simpson in 1987 and was married to Viola until his death.
Richard enjoyed antique car restoration, arrowhead hunting, small game hunting, and fishing.
He is survived by wife Viola Cortez, Sons Ian Cortez and Eric Cortez step daughter Gladys Simpson-Zimmerer, step son Paul Simpson, step daughter Denise Simpson, grandchildren Hayden Cortez, Vanessa Cortez, step grandchildren Christopher Simpson, and Brandon Zimmerer.
Richard was preceded in death by father Bruno F. Cortez, mother Maria Lucia Cortez, sister Isabel Cortez, and his first wife Faith D. Cortez.
