Louise Mae Jacobs
Dec. 16, 1918 - Oct. 11, 2000

Louise Mae Jacobs of Boulder died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000, at Balfour Retirement Community. She was 81.

The daughter of Clarence Atno and Mary Atno, she was born Dec. 16, 1918, in Littlestown, Pa. She married Luke E. Jacobs on Dec. 24, 1941. He died Dec. 26, 1999.

She graduated from the Westminster Choir College in Princeton, N.J.

Mrs. Jacobs moved to Boulder in 1974. She was an avid volunteer and supporter of Boulder Community Hospital and a member of the First Presbyterian Church and Stage House Questors.

Survivors include three sons, William Jacobs of Charlotte, N.C., Thomas Jacobs of Winters, Calif., and Steve Jacobs of Boulder; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service will be at 6 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church, 1920 15th St., Boulder.

Leonard Chusmir

Aug. 5, 1927 - Sept. 25, 2000

Leonard Chusmir, the husband of former Daily Camera publisher Janet Chusmir, died Sept. 25, 2000, at his home in Coral Gables, Fla. He was 73.

The son of Herman and Alice Chusmir, he was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Providence, R.I. He married Janet Zoll on June 19, 1949, in Boston. She died in December 1990. He married Maria Elana Torano on July 4, 1992, in Miami. They divorced last year.

Leonard and Janet Chusmir moved to Boulder from Miami in 1982. They moved to Coral Gables in 1987, when Mrs. Chusmir was hired as executive editor of the Miami Herald.

Mr. Chusmir earned a bachelor's degree from Boston University and a master's degree from Barry University in Miami. He had a Ph.D. in organizational behavior from the University of Miami.

He taught at the University of Miami, the University of Colorado at Denver andFlorida International University. He also had careers operating a craft store, running a jewelry manufacturing business, overseeing a home construction firm and, according to an obituary published in the Miami Herald, directing Knight Ridder's suburban division.

He was a philatelist and collected forgeries. He was a member of the International Retired Professionals.

Survivors include a sister, Lillian Weiner of Providence; a son, Steven Chusmir of Sanford, Fla.; a daughter, Marsha Shapiro of Ormond Beach, Fla.; and a grandson.

Richard Hunt
Aug. 16, 1911 - Oct. 3, 2000

Richard Hunt of Boulder died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000. He was 89.

Born Aug. 16, 1911, near Polk City, Iowa, he was the son of Herbert Hunt and Franc Schaal Hunt. He married Hazel Busch in Wiggins on Oct. 2, 1936.

He moved with his family to Colorado in 1915.

Mr. Hunt worked for Mountain Bell in Fort Morgan, Loveland, Fort Collins, Denver and Boulder, where he was transferred in 1957.

He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting and playing golf. He was a member of the First Methodist Church in Boulder and belonged to several Masonic groups and the Telephone Pioneers.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a son, Brian Hunt of Half Moon Bay, Calif.; a brother, Harold Hunt of Fort Morgan; two grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

Private services will be held.

Hope Kathleen Wolny
July 27, 1925 - Oct. 2, 2000

Hope Kathleen Wolny of Corgin, Iowa, formerly of Boulder, died in Corgin on Monday, Oct. 2, 2000. She was 75.

Born in Boulder on July 27, 1925, she was the daughter of Arthur Bentley and Minnie Hendlenlang Bentley. She married Lee Eldon Oliver. They were divorced. He died Jan. 17, 1979. She married Joe Wolny Jr. in Lafayette on March 25, 1963. He died Oct. 8, 1984. She married John Hudson. He died Nov. 10, 1986.

She attended Boulder High School, was a maid for a CU sorority house and worked as a cook in a CU kitchen.

Mrs. Wolny belonged to the Lutheran Church in Boulder.

She lived in Boulder until 1999.

Survivors include three daughters, Carole Bishop and Linda Cline, both of Longmont, and Donna Bignell of Searcy, Ariz.; a son, William Oliver of Corning, Iowa; a brother, Alva Healey of Longmont; two sisters, Mable Samuels of Kellogg, Idaho, and Gertrude Meyes of St. Charles, Mo.; nine grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

She was cremated.

Private family services will be held.

All-States Cremation is in charge of arrangements.

Mary Kathleen Loubris Jones
June 29, 1934 - Oct. 4, 2000

Mary Kathleen Loubris Jones of Longmont died Wednesday, Oct. 4, 2000, of cancer at her home. She was 66.

Born June 29, 1934, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Paul E. Loubris and Mollie F. Cleeve Loubris. She married William W. Jones in Boulder. They divorced.

She received a bachelor of arts degree from Penn State University, a master of arts from Northwestern University and her Ph.D from the University of Colorado.

Mrs. Jones worked at the Daily Camera, the University of Colorado and Soldier of Fortune magazine. She lived in Boulder from 1956 to 1987 and from 1999 until her death.

She enjoyed literature, crossword puzzles and egg decoration.

Survivors include two sons, David Jones of Longmont and Paul M. Jones of Gunnison; a sister, Julia Hansen of Pittsburgh; a brother, Paul E. Loubris of Revere, Pa.; her former husband; and four grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services will be at 3 p.m. today at St. Stephens Episcopal Church, 1303 S. Bross Lane, Longmont.

Carolyn June Regenbrecht
June 21, 1932 - Oct. 6, 2000

Carolyn June Regenbrecht of Boulder died Friday, Oct. 6, 2000. She was 68.

Born June 21, 1932, in Lexington, Neb., she was the daughter of Richard Bourn and Margaret Sage Bourn. She married Douglas E. Regenbrecht on Aug. 22, 1958, in Lafayette, Ind.

She graduated from Lexington High School, Lexington, Neb., in 1950.

Mrs. Regenbrecht formerly was an executive secretary at Purdue University and a homemaker. She moved to Boulder in 1968 from Tulsa, Okla.

She was past president of the Boulder Elks Ladies, a member and volunteer at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church and a Campfire Girl volunteer. She enjoyed church choir and playing piano.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; a son, Kurt Regenbrecht of Navisota, Texas; two daughters, Lisa Craven of La Salle, Colo., and Christine Reid of Salem, Ore.; a brother, Larry Bourn of Boulder; a sister, Shirley Freeman of San Diego, Calif.; and six grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Ruth Teel; and two brothers, Keith Bourn and Max Bourn.

Services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Aiden's Episcopal Church, 2425 Colorado Ave., Boulder.

Contributions may be made in her name to the Hospice of Boulder County, or the Arthritis Foundation, in care of Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder, CO 80301.

Evelyn Holland Barrick
July 19, 1906 - Oct. 10, 2000

Evelyn Holland Barrick of Boulder died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Boulder Manor. She was 94.

The daughter of William W. Holland and Lillie O. Gipson Holland, she was born July 19, 1906, in Overton, Texas. She married Dennis L. Barrick in 1925 in Longview, Texas. He died Oct. 20, 1983.

A graduate of Overton High School and 1927 graduate of Montezuma Baptist College, she moved to Boulder in 1940.

Mrs. Barrick was a homemaker. She was a longtime, active member of the First Baptist Church of Boulder and the Colorado Arabian Horse Club. She bred, raised and showed Arabian horses for 30 years in the Boulder and Golden areas.

Survivors include a son, Charles Barrick of Golden; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Moselle Nicholson and Lucille Cook.

A private celebration of life will be held.

Jackie Lynn DeMore
July 2, 1946 - Sept. 2, 2000

Jackie Lynn DeMore of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Boulder, died Sept. 2, 2000, in Santa Clara, Calif. She was 54.

The daughter of Raymond C. DeMore and Mary E. Wilson DeMore, she was born July 2, 1946, in Duluth, Minn.

She was a program manager for Sun Microsystems in California.

She lived in Boulder from June 1962 to the summer of 1971. She loved to travel and enjoyed camping, being with friends and family, and her cats.

Survivors include her parents; her partner, Terry Awtry; and a sister, Mallory C. Norway Lent of San Jose, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Funeral services were held.

Merilyn Korstad
May 19, 1941 - Oct. 11, 2000

Merilyn Korstad of Boulder died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000. She was 59.

The daughter of Elmer Bergren and Eva Konoske Bergren, she was born May 19, 1941, in Minneapolis. She married Michael O'Shaughnessy in 1969. They divorced in 1984. She married Bill Korstad on Dec. 22, 1992, in Chicago.

She attended the University of Minnesota.

Mrs. Korstad moved to Boulder from Chicago in 1994.

She worked for Arthur Anderson in Boulder and Chicago. She and her husband founded the software business, Unitime Systems.

She was an avid hiker, backpacker and runner, completing the Chicago Marathon in 1992. She collected shells, rocks and American Indian art, and enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; a son, Kevin O'Shaughnessy of Minneapolis; a stepdaughter Nancy Patrick of Denver; and a grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.
