Amelie Z. DeBlois
Sept. 5, 1939 - Sept. 27, 2000

Amelie Z. DeBlois of Boulder died Wednesday, Sept. 27, 2000, at her home. She was 61.

Born Sept. 5, 1939, in Opelousas, La., she was the daughter of John Edward Zoder and Amelie Bailey Zoder. She married John H. "Jack" Dent. They divorced, and he preceded her in death. She married Gerald DeBlois. They divorced.

A resident of Boulder for the last 18 years, moving here from Aspen.

Mrs. DeBlois was a longtime Yoga instructor in Boulder and formerly was a grade school teacher in New Orleans, La. She was an avid photographer.

Survivors include one son, Dr. Edward Dent of Vail; two sisters, Jane Carr of Jackson, Miss., and Nancy Dawes of New Orleans, La.; her second husband; and a grandson

A celebration and tribute to her life will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday at Shawnee Gardens, 4755 Shawnee Place, Boulder .

Contributions may be made in her name to the Alzheimer's Disease & Related Disorders, 789 Sherman St., Suite 500, Denver, CO 80203.

Neil William Fisk
Aug. 12, 1937 - Oct. 7, 2000

Neil William Fisk, 63, of Greeley, formerly of Boulder, died Saturday, Oct. 7, 2000, at the Hospice of Northern Colorado inpatient unit. He was 63.

The son of Neil Fisk and Marion Franklin Fisk, he was born Aug. 12, 1937, in Brooklyn, N.Y. He married Laurencia Palmquist on April 16, 1961, in Loveland.

Mr. Fisk graduated from Chaminade High School in Mineola, N.Y., and St. Michael's College in Colchester, Vt. He served in the Air Force, worked in advertising and drew cartoons at the Daily Camera from 1961 to 1981 and worked in advertising at the Greeley Tribune from 1981 to 1985 and the Longmont Times Call from 1985 to 1993. He later started his own advertising and marketing consulting business.

He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Centennial Rotary Club of Greeley.

He enjoyed learning, teaching, history, travel and service to his community.

Survivors include his wife of Greeley; a sister, Sally Belfi of New York; three children, Chris Fisk of Windsor, Elsie Romero of Windsor and Mike Fisk of Mequon, Wis.; and two grandchildren.

A rosary service will be said at 7 p.m. Thursday in the cry room of St. Mary's Catholic Church, 2222 23rd Ave. Greeley.

A Memorial Mass will be said at 10 a.m. Friday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greeley.

Benjamin N. 'Bennie' LaSalle
May 10, 1919 - Oct. 9, 2000

Benjamin N. "Bennie" LaSalle of Longmont died Monday, Oct. 9, 2000, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 81.

The son of Nick LaSalle and Alda Mae Metz LaSalle, he was born May 10, 1919, on a farm on Gunbarrel Hill in Boulder County. He married Imogene Prothro on April 1, 1945, in Natchitoches, La.

He graduated from Louisville High School and served in the Army during World War II.

Mr. LaSalle worked as a market manager and meat cutter for various stores, including Ray's Meat Market, Joyce's Supermarket, Clares Market and Ideal Market in Longmont, retiring in 1981.

He lived in Boulder for 41 years, moving to Longmont four years ago.

Mr. LaSalle was a member of American Legion Post No. 111 in Louisville.

Survivors include his wife of Longmont; four sons, Gary D. LaSalle and Barry D. LaSalle, both of Longmont, Larry L. LaSalle of Glendale, Ariz., and Gerald A. LaSalle of Aurora; 13 grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Two sisters, Bertha Schwab and Marjorie Degenhardt, preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont. The Rev. Charles Homsher will officiate.

Contributions may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association in care of Howe Mortuary Chapel, 439 Coffman St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Roger E. Rivera
March 7, 1936 - Oct. 5, 2000

Roger E. Rivera of Lafayette died Thursday, Oct. 5, 2000. He was 64.

Born March 7, 1936, in Lafayette, he was the son of Pablo Rivera and Guadalupe Romero Rivera.

Mr. Rivera volunteered at the Sister Carmen Center in Lafayette for 20 years. He enjoyed collecting knickknacks, gardening and doing volunteer work.

Survivors include five brothers, Paul Rivera of Denver, John Rivera of Aurora, Raymond Rivera of Lafayette, Joseph Rivera and Max Rivera, both of Idaho; and five sisters, Lillian Duran of Longmont, Vivian Martinez of Trinidad, Josephine Rodrigues of Lafayette, Maria Cina of Pennsylvania and Eleanor Erwin of Thornton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Faye Lena Lowderback, and a brother, Robert Rivera.

A Funeral Mass will be said at 10 a.m. today at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 110 S. Simpson, Lafayette.

Contributions may be made to the Sister Carmen Center, 110 W. Simpson, Lafayette, CO 80026. Darrell Howe Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Evelyn Holland Barrick
July 19, 1906 - Oct. 10, 2000

Evelyn Holland Barrick of Boulder died Tuesday, Oct. 10, 2000, at Boulder Manor. She was 94.

The daughter of William W. Holland and Lillie O. Gipson Holland, she was born July 19, 1906, in Overton, Texas. She married Dennis L. Barrick in 1925 in Longview, Texas. He died Oct. 20, 1983.

A graduate of Overton High School and 1927 graduate of Montezuma Baptist College, she moved to Boulder in 1940.

Mrs. Barrick was a homemaker. She was a longtime, active member of the First Baptist Church of Boulder and the Colorado Arabian Horse Club. She bred, raised and showed Arabian horses for 30 years in the Boulder and Golden areas.

Survivors include a son, Charles Barrick of Golden; three grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Moselle Nicholson and Lucille Cook.

A private celebration of life will be held.

Jackie Lynn DeMore
July 2, 1946 - Sept. 2, 2000

Jackie Lynn DeMore of San Jose, Calif., formerly of Boulder, died Sept. 2, 2000, in Santa Clara, Calif. She was 54.

The daughter of Raymond C. DeMore and Mary E. Wilson DeMore, she was born July 2, 1946, in Duluth, Minn.

She was a program manager for Sun Microsystems in California.

She lived in Boulder from June 1962 to the summer of 1971. She loved to travel and enjoyed camping, being with friends and family, and her cats.

Survivors include her parents; her partner, Terry Awtry; and a sister, Mallory C. Norway Lent of San Jose, Calif.

She was preceded in death by her grandparents.

Funeral services were held.

Merilyn Korstad
May 19, 1941 - Oct. 11, 2000

Merilyn Korstad of Boulder died Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000. She was 59.

The daughter of Elmer Bergren and Eva Konoske Bergren, she was born May 19, 1941, in Minneapolis. She married Michael O'Shaughnessy in 1969. They divorced in 1984. She married Bill Korstad on Dec. 22, 1992, in Chicago.

She attended the University of Minnesota.

Mrs. Korstad moved to Boulder from Chicago in 1994.

She worked for Arthur Anderson in Boulder and Chicago. She and her husband founded the software business, Unitime Systems.

She was an avid hiker, backpacker and runner, completing the Chicago Marathon in 1992. She collected shells, rocks and American Indian art, and enjoyed cooking.

Survivors include her husband of Boulder; a son, Kevin O'Shaughnessy of Minneapolis; a stepdaughter Nancy Patrick of Denver; and a grandchild.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

Frank J. Montgomery
Feb. 20, 1925-Oct. 11, 2000

Frank J. Montgomery of Lafayette died at Boulder Community Hospital on Wednesday, Oct. 11, 2000. He was 75.

The son of Charles C. Montgomery and Marie Schrieter Montgomery, he was born in Boulder on Feb. 20, 1925. He married Stella May Hamel on Nov. 20, 1952, in Boulder.

He worked the land that was farmed by his father and homesteaded by his grandfather.

Mr. Montgomery was a member of St. Vrain Lodge No. 23 A.F. & A.M. and received a 50-year pin in 1998. He was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star Columbia Chapter No. 11 and Rainbow Dad Boulder Assembly No. 8 I.O.R.G. He was a 4-H leader of the Fairview Crops and Livestock Club. He was Boulder County Fair superintendent for beef, rabbits, chickens and gardens for many years.

Mr. Montgomery was an elder at Valmont Community Presbyterian Church in Boulder.

The Montgomery family was the KLMO Farm Family of the Year in 1995. He won the Union Pacific Scholarship. Mr. Montgomery wontwo trips to the National 4-H Congress.

He enjoyed hunting and woodworking.

Survivors include his wife of Lafayette; three daughters, Bridget May Carmody of Paonia, Bonnie Smith of Lafayette, and Sara Wendland of Erie; a brother, Robert Montgomery of Greeley; a sister, Ruth Snow of Longmont; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother, Otto, and a sister, Esther.

Visitation will be from 1 to 6 p.m. Saturday and from 1 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont.

A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Valmont Community Presbyterian Church, 3262 61st, Boulder. The Rev. Stephen Bird will officiate. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Oct. 16, with Masonic Committal at Green Mountain Cemetery in Boulder.

Contributions may be made to Boulder County 4-H or Valmont Community Presbyterian Church, in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501.
