Dr. Charles Roy Genter II
May 16, 1953-Sept. 21, 2000
Dr. Charles Roy Genter II of Boulder died Thursday, Sept. 21, 2000. He was 47.
The son of Charles R. Genter and Elaine F. Adams Genter, he was born May 16, 1953, in Watertown, N.Y.
He earned a master's in physics and a master's in computer science from Rensellear Polytechnic Institute in Troy, N.Y., and his doctorate in psychology from the University of Buffalo in Buffalo, N.Y., in 1979.
Genter moved to Boulder from Buffalo in 1979. He worked as a staff research scientist for Bell Laboratories from 1979 to 1995.
He spent the last five years in Detroit on a sailboat named Content.
Survivors include his mother and step-father, Thomas L. Parker, of Black River, N.Y.; a brother, Gregory J. Genter of Grosse Ile, Mich.; and sister, Kristen A. Khlifi of Flowery Branch, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his father.
No services are planned.

Janet C. Rogers
Aug. 13, 1913 - Sept. 15, 2000
Janet C. Rogers of Estes Park, formerly of Boulder, died Sept. 15, 2000, at Prospect Park Living Center in Estes Park. She was 87.
Born Aug. 13, 1913, in Littleton, she was the daughter of Harold S. Crouse and Laura Southwick Crouse. She married Edward H. Rogers in Syracuse in 1937. He died in 1991.
Mrs. Rogers was a secretary at the University of Colorado.
She graduated from Vassar College in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., in 1934.
After living in New York state, Chicago and Elkhart, Ind., she moved to Boulder in 1955, then to Estes Park in 1972.
She was an amateur botanist and enjoyed hiking and photography in Rocky Mountain National Park. She was a member of St. John's Episcopal Church in Boulder and St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Estes Park.
Survivors include a daughter, Elizabeth L. Rogers of Estes Park; a son, Edward H. Rogers of Potomac, Md.; and three grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a brother, Lansing S. Crouse.
A memorial service will be held Oct. 7 at St. Bartholomew's Episcopal Church in Estes Park. Time is pending.

Helen Werth Smith
June 5, 1944-Sept. 20, 2000
Helen Werth Smith of Denver died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000. She was 56.
She was born June 5, 1944, in Pratt, Kan., to Louis Mehrtens and Lois Bunsold Mehertens. She married Larry Werth in 1968 in Wichita, Kan. He died in 1977. She later married Dennis Smith in 1979 in Colorado Springs.
She attended Wichita State University and the University of Colorado. She worked as a financial aid counselor at CU.
Mrs. Smith was a member of the board of directors for the National Association of Veterans Education Certifying Officials and an honorary member of Epsilon Tau Sigma.
She enjoyed theater, travel and the CU Buffaloes.
Survivors include her husband of Denver; daughter, Joanna Werth of Denver; two sisters, Maria Jo Doherty of Overland Park, Kan., and Lisa Gray of Wichita.
She was preceded in death by a son, Cameron.
Visitation and rosary will be held from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday at Crist Mortuary, 3395 Penrose Place. A mass will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Boulder.

Pearl E. Wyant
Nov. 19, 1919 - Sept. 20, 2000
Pearl E. Wyant of Boulder died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in Boulder. He was 80.
The son of Purl Wyant and Rosa French Wyant, he was born Nov. 19, 1919, in Odin, Ill. He married Edna Ruth Jones Vetterline on June 15, 1941, in Denver.
Mr. Wyant joined the military on June 7, 1938, and was in the Medical Services Corps until July 30, 1958.
He was a member of the American Legion in Louisville and the VFW in Lafayette.
Survivors include his wife, of Boulder; two sons, Richard Wyant of Louisville and Robert Wyant of Boulder; a brother, Paul Wyant of Illinois; two sisters, Betty Lou Wiseman and Lorene Seter, both of Denver; and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Crist Mortuary Chapel in Boulder. Interment will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery
in Denver.

Mary Magleaner McArthur
Jan. 17, 1924 - Sept. 20, 2000
Mary Magleaner McArthur of Denver, died Wednesday, Sept. 20, 2000, in Boulder of ovarian cancer. She was 76.
She was born Jan. 17, 1924, in Salem Hill, N.C., to Nathaniel Garrison and Julia Majors Garrison. She married Sylvester Beal in 1941. They divorced in 1965. She then married Marvin McArthur in 1975. They divorced in January 1990.
Mrs. McArthur came to Boulder in 1994 and lived in Boulder until 1999. Before coming to Colorado, she graduated from high school in North Carolina and was a trainer for Industries for the Blind. She enjoyed traveling and church groups.
She is survived by two daughters, Ramona Beal and Jasmine Wofford, both of Winston-Salem, N.C.; and three sons, Marion Beal, Sylvester Beal Jr. and Timothy Beal, all of Winston-Salem, N.C. She also had 12 grandchildren.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Tuesday at a private residence, 635 Mohawk Drive, Boulder. Crist Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Donald Victor Hard
Dec. 6, 193 - Sept. 16, 2000
Donald Victor Hard of Longmont died from injuries sustained from a fall while climbing in the Sangre de Cristo mountains near Westcliff on Saturday, Sept. 16, 2000. He was 69.
The son of Victor E. Hard and Beryl Janet Winter Hard, he was born Dec. 6, 1930, in Duluth, Minn. He married Janet Bull on Sept. 6, 1958, at St. Peter's Church in Preston, England.
He served in the Army in the mid-1950s and was stationed in Germany with a tank division known as "Hell on Wheels."
He worked for a brief time in England before returning to the U.S., where he worked as a truck driver in Milwaukee, Wis. He moved to Longmont from Menomonee Falls, Wis., where he went to work as a sales representative for Model Laundry. He later worked a sales representative for Karsh's Klean Air (which became Colorado Chemical) until his retirement in 1996. He then went to work for the Regional Transportation District as a bus driver.
Hard was a member of Left Hand Grange in Niwot and was an active Boy Scout leader for Troop 161, in which both his sons had been scouts. He was an avid hiker and climber and had climbed 28 of Colorado's fourteeners, including 18 with his wife. At the time of his death he was scaling Crestone Needle and Crestone Peak, which completed his ascent of the state's 10 highest peaks. He also enjoyed cribbage, sailing and cross-country skiing.
Survivors include his wife, of Longmont; his father, of Kerrville, Texas; two sons, Robert Donald Hard of Loveland and David Victor Hard of Gaeta, Italy; two daughters, Kristi Nay of Fort Collins and Sally Graham of Longmont; a brother, James Hard of Minneapolis, Minn.; two sisters, Carolyn Hard of Longmont and Nancy Zarse of Danville, Va.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his mother, one brother, two children and three grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Grace Evangelical Free Church, 2415 Lake Park Drive, Longmont. The Rev. Tom Beaman will officiate.
Cremation will be at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory.

Helen A. Williams
Jan. 31, 1910-Sept. 23, 2000
Helen A. Williams of Boulder died in Boulder on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000. She was 90.
The daughter of Joseph Kroulick and Kattie Nenock Kroulick, she was born Jan. 31, 1910, in Mustang, Okla. She married Chester Williams on April 25, 1938, in Los Angeles. He preceded her in death.
Mrs. Williams was a homemaker.
She enjoyed playing bingo, the harmonica and crocheting.
Survivors include three daughters, Margaret Perdue of Wheatland, Wyo., Gladys Perdue of Cody, Wyo., and Thelma Griswold of Longmont; a son, Charles A. Williams of Longmont; 14 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband; nine brothers; two sisters; one grandchild; and one great-grandchild.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Tuesday at Darrell Howe Mortuary, 1701 W. South Boulder Road in Lafayette. A service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Foothills Gardens of Memory in Longmont.

Richard "Dick" Earl Warner
April 20, 1943 - Sept. 22, 2000
Richard "Dick" Earl Warner of Boulder died in Boulder on Friday, Sept. 22, 2000. He was 57.
The son of Rufard Earl Warner and Orpha J. Blair Warner, he was born April 20, 1943, in Boulder.
He married Janet L. Coss on Feb. 22, 1964, in Boulder.
Mr. Warner worked for Ideal Market and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include his wife of Boulder; two daughters, Laura Jean Volp of Winneconne, Wis., and Kathryn Ann Lanz of Blackfoot, Idaho; two sons, John Richard Warner of Winneconne and Jeffery Ryan Warner of Longmont; two sisters, Roberta Kirkpatrick of Denver and Doris Park of Sneads Ferry, N.C.; and seven grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A service will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mountain View Memorial Park in Boulder.

Roger Lynn Willard
April 21, 1935 - Sept. 23, 2000
Roger Lynn Willard of Burneyville, Okla., formerly of Boulder, died Saturday, Sept. 23, 2000, at home. He was 65.
Born April 21, 1935, in Walters, Okla., he was the son of Jack L. Willard and Thelma E. Flanagan Willard. He married Janice Cooper on Nov. 23, 1961, in Boulder.
He served in the Army.
Mr. Willard earned a bachelor's degree in history from the University of Colorado in 1963, a master's in medieval history in 1965 and completed work on his doctorate in reformation history, including spending a year doing research in England.
He taught at CU, Colorado State University in Fort Collins and Southeastern Oklahoma State University at Durant. He also was pastor at the Independent Christian Fellowship in Boulder and Longmont for 15 years and was a part-time pastor at Methodist churches in Springer and Thackerville, Okla. He was branch manager of the Marietta Chickasaw Library in Marietta, Okla.
Mr. Willard was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Marietta.
Survivors include his wife of Burneyville; his mother of Burneyville; two sons, Jeff Willard of Sherman, Texas, and Nathan Willard of Allen, Texas; and a brother, Dale Willard of Lafayette.
Services will be in Marietta.
