Christopher Northcutt
April 2, 1981 - Sept. 15, 2000

Christopher Northcutt of Longmont died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, from injuries suffered in a car-bicycle accident in Firestone. He was 19.

The son of Terry E. Northcutt and Barbara L. Schnurbusch Northcutt, he was born April 2, 1981, in Denver.

Mr. Northcutt grew up in the rural Longmont area and attended Valley High School in Gilcrest.

He was a member of the Boulder County Cinch Busters 4-H Club, Boulder Horse Show Association, the Pride Club at Valley High School and the Special Olympics Colorado Chapter of Equestrian Division, representing Team Colorado in the 1999 Special Olympics in Raleigh Durham, N.C., where he won two gold medals.

He loved music, horseback riding, bicycling and dancing.

Survivors include his parents of Longmont; and two sisters, Alexis Northcutt and Briana Northcutt, both of Longmont.

A rosary will be said at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Fourth and Collyer streets, Longmont. The Rev. Richard Pelis of Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Boulder will officiate. Cremation is planned.

Contributions may be made in his name to the Colorado Therapeutic Riding Center, in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Dorothy Louise Sifferd
Dec. 29, 1916 - Sept. 15, 2000

Dorothy Louise Sifferd of Louisville died Friday, Sept. 15, 2000, at Hospice of Boulder County Care Center in Louisville. She was 83.

Born Dec. 29, 1916, in Richland, Iowa, she was the daughter of Charles R. Wiggins and Freda R. Cowguill Wiggins. She married Richard H. Sifferd on May 18, 1940, in Kansas City, Mo. He died in 1978.

Mrs. Sifferd moved to Boulder County in August.

She attended Chillicothe Business College in Chillicothe, Mo., Joliet Junior College in Joliet, Ill., and received a bachelor's degree from the College of St. Francis in Joliet in 1969 and a master's in education from Loyola University in Chicago in 1972.

Mrs. Sifferd worked as an assistant to the dean at Joliet (East) High School and as a counselor at Nomence Junior High School.

Mrs. Sifferd enjoyed traveling and was active in Girl Scouts.

Survivors include three daughters, Janet Palmer of Malta, Ill., Margaret Amditis of Goodlettsville, Tenn., and Kathleen Norris of Longmont; a son, Robert Sifferd of Payson, Ariz.; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Wiggins; a sister, Maxine Ryan; and a grandson.

Services are private.

Erlinger Cremation & Funeral Service of Longmont is in charge of arrangements.

Naomi Ethel Wright
June 26, 1914 - July 26, 2000

Naomi Ethel Wright of Elk City, Okla., formerly of Boulder, died July 26, 2000, in Elk City. She was 96.

Born June 26, 1914, in Alva, Okla., she was the daughter of James L. Wright and Katie Ethel Plummer Wright.

She graduated from the Denver School of Nursing in 1939. She worked as a registered nurse and was the director of nursing at the University of Colorado.

She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elk City.

Survivors include three nieces, Patricia A. Van Hon of Cleveland, Texas, Cynthia J. Trezise of Fairbury, Ill., and Nancy Wright Slain of Kailua, Hawaii; and two nephews, Dr. James C. Wright of Virginia Beach, Va., and William J. Engler of Craig.

She was preceded in death by three sisters, Alice M. Hurt, Marjorie Wright Engler and Veda K. Wright Patterson; and two brothers, James C. Wright and Harold L "Joe" Wright.

Services were held.

Evelyn C. Demien
Aug. 18, 1908 - Sept. 19, 2000

Evelyn C. Demien of Longmont died Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2000. She was 92.

She was born Aug. 18, 1908, in Milwaukee, Wis., to Frank Brehmer and Katherine Paulson Brehmer. She married Roland A. Demien. He preceded her in death.

She was a registered nurse and worked in Chicago following nursing school and then worked for various doctors in Milwaukee. Mrs. Demien moved to Longmont in 1981.

She attended First Evangelical Lutheran Church in Longmont .

Survivors include a daughter, Deanna LaCamera of Boulder; and a grandson.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel in Longmont. The Rev. Bruce Welander of First Evangelical Lutheran Church will officiate.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Thursday at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.

Contributions may be made to the Salvation Army or First Evangelical Lutheran Church, in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont, CO 80501.

Lisa A. Hankins
Jan. 22, 1955 - Sept. 17, 2000

Lisa A. Hankins of Boulder, formerly of Longmont, died in Boulder on Sunday, Sept. 17, 2000. She was 45. The cause of death is pending a coroner's investigation.

The daughter of LeRoy Hankins and Gellell Dailas Hankins, she was born Jan. 22, 1955, in Morris, Ill.

She graduated from Mattoon High School with honors, winning the Arion Award. She attended the University of Illinois and played bassoon. She played the flute in the marching band. She attended Front Range Community College prior to being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.

She enjoyed painting, art, running, mountain biking and backpacking.

She lived in Boulder County from 1974 until her death.

Survivors include her parents, LeRoy and Gennell Hankins; and two sisters, Julie Smith of Morris and Elizabeth Fugate of Chicago.

A memorial service will be at 5 p.m. Saturday at Boulder Park. Her ashes will be scattered over Longs Peak.

Erlinger Cremation and Funeral Service of Boulder is handling arrangements.

Joan Hannum June 17, 1959 - Sept. 18, 2000

Joan Hannum of Boulder died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000. She was 41.

Born June 17, 1959, in Philadelphia, she was the daughter of Howard Hannum and Jane Fritz Hannum.

She received a master's degree from the University of Vermont.

Ms. Hannum had her own family counseling practice.

Survivors include her parents of North Wales, Pa.

No services are planned.

Crist Mortuary is handling the arrangements.

Helen H. Gold
Aug. 13 1922 - Sept. 18, 2000

Helen H. Gold of Longmont died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000. She was 78.

She was born Aug. 13, 1922, in Mount Pulaski, Ill., to Mikel Hutchins and Maude Boggs Hutchins. She married Dale E. Gold on March 18, 1944, in Siebring, Fla. He died April 26, 1996.

She moved to Longmont in 1995 from Milbank, S.D. She worked as a registered nurse primarily in private duty nursing.

She was a member of LifeBridge Christian Church of Longmont, a former member of the Central United Methodist Church in Milbank, a former volunteer at the Milbank Hospital, and a member of the Christian Women's Association at the Central United Methodist Church in Milbank.

She loved homemaking and collecting teddy bears.

Survivors include a son, Michael L. Gold of Longmont; three sisters, Maude Hutchins of Springfield, Ill., Lela Thompson of Aurora and Elsie Laue of Shumway, Ill.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.

Visitation and funeral services will be in Milbank. The Rev. Mark Holland will officiate. Services will conclude at the Milbank Cemetery.

Russell Hoyt Bergen
Sept. 15, 1911-Sept. 18, 2000

Russell Hoyt Bergen of Lyons died Monday, Sept. 18, 2000, at Boulder Community Hospital. He was 89.

Born Sept. 15, 1911, in Elizabeth, N. J., he was the son of Edward H. Bergen and Elizabeth A. Leonard Bergen. He married Muriel F. Lonergan in New York in 1931. She died July 5, 1989.

Mr. Bergen attended junior college. He was a sound engineer for 36 years with Young & Rubicam Advertising in New York City. He moved to Lyons in 1971.

He enjoyed collecting stamps, restoring camera and electronic equipment, classical music and photography.

Survivors include a son, Russell H. Bergen Jr., of San Diego, Calif., and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, Elizabeth Tuzzolino.

Interment will be at Lyons Cemetery.

Crist Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.

Gwendolyn F. Blubaugh
July 25, 1930 - July 28, 2000

Gwendolyn F. Blubaugh of Loveland, formerly of Boulder, died July 28, 2000. She was 70.

The daughter of Richard D. Holland and Alice L. LaFollette Holland, she was born July 25, 1930, in Sioux City, Iowa. She married Victor E. Blubaugh on June 2, 1954, in Boulder.

Mrs. Blubaugh was a homemaker.

She lived in Boulder County from 1943 to 1962 and graduated from Boulder High School in 1948.

Survivors include her husband of Loveland; three sons, Todd Blubaugh of Fairfield, Calif., Scott Blubaugh of Spokane, Wash., and Eric Blubaugh of Loveland; a daughter, Kim Blubaugh of Denver; a sister, Jacquelyne McDonough of Westminster; and 10 grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Kenneth Blubaugh; and a sister, Bessie Holland.

A private celebration of life ceremony was held.

Goes Mortuary in Loveland was in charge of arrangements.
