Thomas N. Laing
July 31, 1939 - July 24, 2000

Thomas N. Laing of Louisville died Monday, July 24, 2000, in Louisville. He was 60.

The son of Jake Laing and Evelyn Laing May, he was born July 31, 1939, in Fargo, N.D. He married Estelle Pinsky in 1982 in Westminster.

He served in the Army . He worked for State Farm Insurance.

He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing and telling jokes.

Survivors include his wife; and a sister, Susan J. Laing of Birmingham, Ala.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Darrell Howe Chapel, 1701W. South Boulder Road, Lafayette.

A service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Darrell Howe Chapel.

Donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.

Eustis E. McKee Jr.
Oct. 13, 1916 - July 20, 2000

Eustis E. McKee Jr. of Longmont died Thursday July 20, 2000, at Poudre Valley Hospital in Fort Collins. He was 83.

The son of Eustis E. McKee and Edith Frame McKee, he was born Oct. 13, 1916, in Oak Park, Ill. He married Martha Gray on Oct. 4, 1943, in Sacramento, Calif. She preceded him in death.

He graduated from Northwestern University, where he played on the football team. He then received flight training at the U.S. Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md.

Mr. McKee spent his career in the military, serving in the Air Force. During World War II he was a flight training instructor for military carrier pilots and was later an instructor at the Air War College in Montgomery, Ala. He served in Japan, Vietnam and many posts in the U.S. He retired from the Air Force as Lt. Col. in Anchorage, Alaska, and moved to Colorado Springs.

He moved to Longmont from Colorado Springs in 1997.

He enjoyed golf, skiing and fishing.

Survivors include two daughters, Mhari Peschel of Longmont and Elizabeth Kobylarz of Soldotna, Alaska; a sister, Edith McKee of Harbor Springs, Mich., and two grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at Central Presbyterian Church, 402 Kimbark Street, Longmont. Rev. Marilyn Yoder Boeke will officiate. A reception will follow.

Inurnment will follow at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.

Helen R. Oetting
June 24, 1910 - July 23, 2000

Helen R. Oetting of Boulder died of natural causes Sunday, July 23, 2000, in Boulder. She was 90.

The daughter of Frank C. Triebes and Martha Birr Triebes, she was born June 24, 1910, in Pueblo. She married Franklin H. Oetting in 1930 in Pueblo. He preceded her in death.

She moved to Boulder from Pueblo in 1981.

Mrs. Oetting was a homemaker.

She was a member of Missouri Synod Lutheran Church.

Survivors include a son, Ron Oetting of Northglenn; a daughter, Dianne Williams of Aurora; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

No services are planned.

Crist Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Kenneth N. Pykkonen
Oct. 9, 1932 - July 22, 2000

Kenneth N. Pykkonen of Longmont, formerly of Boulder, died Saturday, July 22, 2000. He was 67.

He was born Oct. 9, 1932, in Esko, Minn., to Charles J. Pykkonen and Ellen E. Hill Pykkonen. He married Mary Ann Nordman Aug. 14, 1954, in Cloquet, Minn.

He lived in Boulder from 1967 to 1998, and lived in Longmont until the time of his death.

Mr. Pykkonen worked as an electrical engineer at Lockheed Aerospace, Stanford Research Institute, Ball Aerospace, Tri-state Power, Rockwell International and the National Renewable Energy Laboratory.

He enjoyed automobile restoration, opera and classical music. He was a member of the Grace Lutheran Church.

Survivors include his wife of Longmont; two sons, Kevin Roger Pykkonen of Boulder and Keith William Pykkonen of Evergreen; sister, Doris Seikkula of Lakeville, Minn.; brother, Donald Pykkonen of Esko, Minn.; and five grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a son, Mark Kenneth Pykkonen, and two brothers, Merton Pykkonen and Roger Pykkonen.

A gathering of family and friends will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Grace Lutheran Church, 1001 13th St., Boulder.

A memorial service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at the Grace Lutheran Church.

Contributions may be made to American Rivers, 1025 Vermont Ave., N.W. Washington D.C., 20005.

Nellie Mudgett Robb
June 27, 1917 - July 22, 2000

Nellie Mudgett Robb of Louisville died Saturday, July 22, 2000, in Louisville. She was 83.

She was born June 27, 1917, in Carlsbad, N.M., to Leon Howard Mudgett and Elma Lucille Smith Mudgett. She married Joseph Burnett Robb on July 16, 1935, in Albuquerque, N.M.

Mrs. Robb came to Louisville in May 1999 from Fresno, Calif. She was a member of University Presbyterian Church in Fresno and belonged to PEO Chapter TT in Fresno. She was a homemaker.

She is survived by her son, Joe A. Robb of Boulder; three grandchildren, and seven great-granddaughters.

Mrs. Robb was preceded in death by her husband in 1980 and her son James Howard Robb in 1958.

The family will hold private services. M.P. Murphy and Associates handled arrangements.

John Newbold Hough
Nov. 10, 1906 - July 22, 2000

John Newbold Hough of Boulder died Saturday, July 22, 2000, at Frasier Meadows Manor Health Care Center. He was 95.

Born Nov. 10, 1906, in New York City, he was the son of Judge Charles M. Hough and Ethel Powers Hough. He married Eleanor Fulton Sloan in Clarksburg, W.Va., on Aug. 8, 1930. She preceded him in death.

Mr. Hough graduated from Exeter Academy in 1923, from Dartmouth College in 1927 and Princeton University, where her earned his Ph.D. in classics in 1933.

He taught at Ohio State University from 1933 to 1945, when he moved to Boulder. He began teaching at the University of Colorado in 1946. He held visiting professorships at the University of Sydney in Australia in 1952, the University of Virginia in 1973 and the University of South Florida in 1975. He chaired the University Artist Series Committee for many years and served as the university marshal for commencement exercises.

Mr. Hough was an officer of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South, chaired the regional Woodrow Wilson Fellowship selection committee and guided Helenic Institute study groups to Greece.

At his retirement from CU in 1972, he was awarded the Stearns Medal for Extraordinary Service to the university and was named professor emeritus.

He enjoyed etymology, cartography and ornithology.

Survivors included two sons, C. Merrill of Coralles, N.M., and Jonathan S. Hough of Boulder; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Nancy Baldwin Smith.

No services are planned.

Glenn R. Pauze
April 18, 1949 - July 26, 2000

Glenn R. Pauze of Boulder died of natural causes Wednesday, July 26, 2000, in Boulder. He was 51.

He was born April 18, 1949, in Manitowoc, Wis., to Lawrence J. Pauze and Veronica Metzner Pauze. He married Samantha Pruess in April 1972 in Milwaukee, Wis.

Mr. Pauze was a precision machinist and manufactured scientific medical equipment at HPS Corp. of Boulder. He was also a wood carver, musician and sculptor.

He moved to Boulder from Wisconsin in 1995. He was a member of Boulder Friends Meeting.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a daughter, Heather Pause of Boulder; a son, Bryan Pauze of Denver; his mother of Fond du Lac, Wis.; four sisters, Yvonne Pauze Giambrone of Dayton, Ohio, Lenda Pauze Greene of Fond du Lac, Annmarie Pauze Johnson of Eden, Wis., and Annette Pauze Lehman of Onalaska, Wis.; and a brother, Mark Pauze of Ipsilanti, Mich.

He was preceded in death by his father.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder.

A graveside service will be at 9 a.m. Saturday at Green Mountain Cemetery, 290 20th St., Boulder.

Memorial donations may be made in lieu of flowers to Boulder Meeting of Friends, Emergency Fund, in care of Howe Mortuary, 2121 11th St., Boulder, CO 80302.

Frank J. Schuller Sr.
July 1, 1937 - July 24, 2000

Frank J. Schuller Sr. of Boulder died Monday, July 24, 2000. He was 63.

He was born June 1, 1937, in Chicago, to Franz Schuller and Karolina Schaffner Schuller. He married Patricia Durrant on Oct. 6, 1962, in Illinois. They divorced.

He moved to Boulder from Danville, Ill., in 1976. He was a manager of plant engineering at Robel/Sysco Food Services in Denver for 20 years. He enjoyed hunting.

Survivors include three sons; Michael Schuller of Boulder, John Schuller of Silverthorne and Frank Schuller Jr. of Coronado, Calif.; a daughter, Theresa Schuller of Bailey; three sisters, Eugenia Schuller of LaVerne, Calif., Margaret Christian of Vida, Ore., and Rita Famiglietti of Boulder; and four grandchildren.

A rosary will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Crist Mortuary Chapel, 3395 Penrose Place, Boulder.

Memorial services will be at 10 a.m., Wednesday at Sacred Heart of Mary Catholic Church, 6739 S. Boulder Road, Boulder.
