Thelma May Endres

Sept. 25, 1909 - Sept. 24, 1999

Thelma May Endres of Longmont died Friday, Sept. 24, at Rose Terrace Care Center in Commerce City. She was 89.

She was born Sept. 25, 1909, in Hagler, Neb., to Crandol J. Ovenden and Lucy Gowey Ovenden. She married Paul Endres on Sept. 30, 1934, in Denver. He died May 20, 1965.

Mrs. Endres graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor's degree in English. She taught in a one-room schoolhouse in Nebraska for two years before moving to Denver in 1934. She moved to Lyons in 1936.

Survivors include a son, Jim Endres of Littleton; three daughters, Nancy Martinez of Trinidad, Sally Stambaugh of Dupont and Linda Endres of Lincoln; and eight grandchildren.

Cremation has been held. A private interment will be held.

Contributions can be made to the University of Nebraska foundation English scholarship in care of Lewellen Longmont Chapel, 503 Terry St., Longmont 80501.

Natalie J. Mirabal

Jan. 25, 1975-Sept. 26, 1999

Natalie J. Mirabal of Longmont was strangled on Sunday, Sept. 26, 1999. She was 24.

She was born Jan. 25, 1975, in Taos, N.M., to Ennemias Vasquez and Enselma Arellano Vasquez. She married Matthew Mirabal on Nov. 9, 1996, in Los Alamos, N.M.

Mrs. Mirabal worked for the YMCA Daycare in Longmont. She previously worked for Dr. Thomas Greaney as a receptionist and as a receptionist and dental aide in Longmont. She was a homemaker.

She graduated from Penasco High School in 1992 in Penasco, N.M., and had completed one semester at Northern New Mexico Community College. She moved to Boulder County in 1996.

She was a member of Platteville Apostolic Church, where she was a church youth leader, a singer and artist.

Survivors include her husband of Longmont; a daughter, Mikaela Mirabal of Longmont; her parents of New Mexico; a sister, Dawn Vasquez of New Mexico; and three brothers, Nehemiah Vasquez, Simon Vasquez and Jeremiah Vasquez, all of New Mexico.

A memorial service will be at noon today at the First Christian Church, Colo. 66, Longmont.

Another memorial service will be at noon Saturday in Penasco, N.M.

Contributions may be made to the Mikaela Mirabal Fund, in care of Heritage Bank, 2333 Main St., Longmont 80501.

Erlinger Cremation and Funeral Service of Longmont is in charge of arrangements.

Margaret Foster Pike

Sept. 30, 1901 - Sept. 30, 1999

Margaret Foster Pike of Boulder died Thursday, Sept. 30, 1999. She was 98.

She was born to Charles Foster and Lottie Leach Foster on Sept. 30, 1901, in Shelbyville, Ill. She married Frank Albert Pike on Oct. 16, 1922, in Chicago. He died on Nov. 24, 1974,

Mrs. Pike worked as a seamstress and dressmaker in Illinois and was employed by the Denver Dry Goods Co. for nine years before retiring in 1974. She moved to the Boulder area from Miami in 1962.

She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.

Survivors include a niece, Margaret Ethridge of Illinois; and several great-nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be Tuesday at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., Boulder.

Howe Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Beverly 'Rochelle' Manther

Aug. 9, 1935 - Oct. 3, 1999

Beverly "Rochelle" Manther of Longmont died Sunday, Oct. 3, 1999, at Longmont United Hospital. She was 64.

She was born Aug. 9, 1935, in Owatonna, Minn., to Boyd Manther and Mary Coulter Manther.

She was a customer service representative at Neodata Corp. in Boulder.

She moved to Boulder from Minnesota in 1948. She later moved to Longmont.

Survivors include her mother of Longmont; and a sister, Kathryn Condit of Longmont.

She was preceded in death by a brother, Fritz Manther of Boulder.

A private family memorial service will be held.

William M. Soult

Dec. 29, 1938 - Oct. 1, 1999

William M. Soult of Longmont died Friday, Oct. 1, 1999, at home. He was 60.

He was born Dec. 29, 1938, in Lewistown, Pa., to George W. Soult and Dorothy Coudriet Soult. He married Laura Butcher on Dec. 27, 1959, in Harrisburg, Pa.

Mr. Soult taught math and physics in Harrisburg from 1960 to 1967; he joined IBM in 1967 at Poughkeepsie, N.Y., transferring to the Longmont/Boulder plant in 1968, where he was a programmer, instructor and business planner until 1991. On March 29, 1991, his department spun off from IBM to become Lexmark International Inc., where he continued as a business planner until his death.

He was a 1956 graduate of Newport High School in Newport, Pa., a 1960 graduate of Shippensburg State College and received his master's degree in business from Colorado State University.

He served 16 years on the board of directors for St. Vrain Valley School and was on the Northern Colorado Board of Cooperative Education Services, the Colorado Association of School Boards, Colorado High School Activities Association and the National School Boards Association.

He was a fan of the Broncos, Rockies and Avalanche teams, and he attended many high school and college sporting events. For 27 years, he was a registered high school football official, officiating many games including nine playoff games and one state championship. He enjoyed attending concerts of the Longmont Symphony and the theater.

Survivors include his wife of Longmont; a son, Dr. Timothy Soult of Oklahoma City, Okla.; a daughter, Pamela Soult of Dallas; a sister, Carol Burkhardt of New Bern, N.C.; and three grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by an infant son, Matthew Soult on Dec. 1, 1972; and a brother, Ned Soult.

A celebration of his life will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Central Presbyterian Church, 402 Kimbark St., Longmont with the Revs. Marilyn Yoder Boeke and Glenn Perica, both of Central Presbyterian Church officiating. Cremation has occurred.

Contributions may be made to Central Presbyterian Church or Hospice of Boulder County in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel, 326 Terry St., Longmont 80501-5440.

Logan Raymond Rapp

Oct. 7, 1915 - Oct. 4, 1999

Logan Raymond Rapp of Boulder died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, in Boulder. He was 83.

He was born Oct. 7, 1915, in Litchfield, Ill., to Logan Raymond Rapp Jr. and Mary Elizabeth Thrash Rapp. He married Mary Elizabeth Livingston on April 29, 1939, in Castle Rock.

Mr. Rapp was a career officer in the U.S. Army from 1939 to 1960. He later worked as an administrator for the State Civil Defense Agency, retiring in 1975.

He moved to Boulder 39 years ago from Coronado, Calif.

He belonged to the First United Methodist Church of Boulder for 39 years. He was a member of the Retired Military Officers Association of Boulder and Officers Staff Reunion Committee World War II of the 689th Field Artillery Battalion at Fort Sill, Okla.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a daughter, Melodie Rapp Francis of Arvada; a son, Mark Logan Rapp of Cortez; and four grandsons.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Katherine Tyler in 1978.

A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at First United Methodist Church of Boulder. The Revs. Beverly Fest and Ralph Henard will officiate. Services will conclude at noon at Staging Area "B," Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver.

Contributions may be made to First United Methodist Church, 1401 Spruce St., Boulder 80302.

James W. Taylor

July 20, 1936 - Oct. 4, 1999

James W. Taylor of Longmont died Monday, Oct. 4, 1999, at Longmont United Hospital. He was 63.

He was born July 20, 1936, in Fairfax, S.D., to Ralph W. Taylor and Magdalina Mutchelknous Taylor. He married Geraldine "Gerry" Stickler on Aug. 25, 1954, in Longmont.

Mr. Taylor worked for the Longmont Police Department from 1960 to 1966, when he went to work for Rocky Flats in security and as a truck driver. He retired in 1995 after 28 years.

He moved from Scotland, S.D., to Longmont in 1945.

He was a member of the BPOE No. 1055, the Moose Lodge No. 1548 of Longmont and the Mead Fishing Club, where he served on the board of directors.

Survivors include his wife of Longmont, a son, Doug Taylor of Fort Collins; two daughters, Debbie Fesenmeyer of Berthoud and Diane Zimmerman of Loveland; and four grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Howe Mortuary Chapel in Longmont. The Rev. Marilyn Yoder Boeke of Central Presbyterian Church will officiate.

Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of Howe Mortuary, 439 Coffman St., Longmont 80501.

George Custer Stephens

July 22, 1932 - Oct. 5, 1999

George Custer Stephens of Boulder died Oct. 5, 1999, in Boulder. He was 67.

He was born July 22, 1932, in Kansas City, Mo., to George F. Stephens and Florence Custer Stephens. He married Rosemarie Fuchs on Feb. 8, 1959, in Kansas City, Mo.

Mr. Stephens was a signal maintenance officer in the U.S. Army. He served for 26 years, alternating between the United States and Europe with two tours in Vietnam. He retired from the military in 1974. He worked in fire control and was an amateur radio operator and the Mars director for Colorado and Wyoming for 12 years.

He was a Silver Palm Eagle Scout and more recently active in Boy Scouts, Troop No. 78. He was a lifelong member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, a member of the Retired Officers Association and was treasurer for Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association.

Survivors include his wife of Boulder; a daughter, Kim Stephens-Silber of Monument; a son, George M. Stephens of Denver; and a grandson.

Graveside services will be at noon Friday at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver. Military honors will be provided by Fort Carson.

Ruth Josephine Gale

Jan. 29, 1908 - Sept. 29, 1999

Ruth Josephine Gale of Lafayette died Wednesday, Sept. 29, 1999. She was 91.

She was born Jan. 29, 1908, in Colorado Springs, to Joseph Galbraith and Emma Hutter Galbraith. She married Dr. Scott Gale on June 21, 1933, in Manzanola. He died Jan. 31, 1989.

Mrs. Gale attended the University of Colorado and Stephens College. She graduated from Cincinnati Conservatory of Music in 1930. She taught music in Manzanola public schools and gave music lessons on the piano and organ until her marriage.

She moved to Boulder County in 1985 from Pueblo.

She attended First Presbyterian Church in Pueblo for more than 50 years. Later, she attended the First Presbyterian Church of Boulder, Vinelife Community Church of Niwot and finally New Life Ministries in Lafayette.

She enjoyed playing the piano and organ, reading, playing bridge, and being involved in her church and her community. She was a member of women's groups and civic and charitable organizations in Pueblo and Boulder.

Survivors include a daughter, Nancy Jinnette of Lafayette; a son, Dr. Scott Gale of North Platte, Neb.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

A non-traditional memorial service will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Vinelife Community Church, 7845 Lookout Road, Gunbarrel. The sanctuary will be open for a period of musical worship and prayer beginning at 11:30 a.m.

A funeral will be at 2 p.m. Monday at First Presbyterian Church in Pueblo. Interment will be in Roselawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions may be made to Vinelife Community Church (designated to Outreach School), 7845 Lookout Road, Longmont 80503 or to New Life Ministries, P.O. Box 112, Erie 80516.
