Howard D. Jones
Howard D. Jones, 72 of Salida, died Aug. 7, 2004, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home.
He was born Sept. 7, 1931, in Blackdog Township, Okla., to Elbert and May (LeMasters) Jones.
Mr. Jones was a member of Mount Princeton Lodge No. 49 A.F.&A.M. He enjoyed doing mechanical work, loved reading and the mountains. He was an excellent photographer.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and wives, Georgia Allinger and Karen Jones.
He is survived by his sons, Mark Jones of Salida, Steve (Kay) Allinger of Buena Vista and Raymond (Becky) Allinger of Salida; Sister, Nadine Rowden of Miami, Okla. and 10 grandchildren.
Memorial services are set for 11 a.m. Aug. 21, 2004, at Grace Episcopal Church in Buena Vista.
Friends who want may make memorial contributions to Grace Episcopal Church through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Claude Harold Hall
Claude Harold Hall, 85, Poncha Springs, died Sunday Aug. 8, 2004, at the Peaks Care Center in Longmont.
He was born Nov. 6, 1918, in Clay County, Neb., to Claude and Annie (Yates) Hall.
Mr. Hall served with the Army Air Corps during World War II. He at one time sold souvenirs at the Poncha Springs Visitors Center. His interests included traveling and gardening.
He is survived by his wife, Eunetta Hall, of Poncha Springs; son, Stephen (Mabel) Hall of Grand Canyon, Ariz.; daughters, Cinda (Paul) Carpino and Marta Hall of Carson City, Nev.; brother, Thomas (Myrtle) Hall of Kennewyck, Wash.; sister, Goldie Lisenbee of Emporia, Kan.; 7 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren.
Mr. Hall was preceded in death by his first wife, Hazel Daisy Hall; son, Elton Hall and daughter, Barbara Ann Hall.
Visitation will be from 1-8 p.m. Thursday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday at Lewis and Glenn.
Interment will be in Poncha Springs Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Angel of Shavano Hospice through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Pauline Moore Harbst
Pauline Moore Harbst, 86, died Aug. 6, 2004, in Salida.
She was born Jan. 30, 1918, in Wewoka, Okla., a daughter of the late Harold and Maude (Vass) Moore.
She married Earl Harbst Jan. 2, 1942, in New Rochelle, N.Y. He preceded her in death in November 2001.
She is survived by a daughter, Cheryl Nameth of Salida, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, a son, Earl Ronald Harbst; two brothers and a sister.
Visitation will be held Friday at Holt Family Funeral Home, Cañon City.
Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at Holt Family Funeral Home, Chapel of the Garden.
Services will conclude at the Chapel.
Arrangements are through Holt Family Funeral Home.
Ida Velma Schneider
Ida Velma Schneider, 94, long-time Salida resident, died Aug. 11, 2004, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home in Salida.
She was born April 12, 1910, in Weatherford, Okla., to James Franklin and Maude (Casler) Clayton.
Mrs. Schneider worked for Samsonite Luggage Co. in Denver for 20 years.
She enjoyed playing poker and other card games in addition to getting together with her friends at the Salida Apartments. She was an excellent cook and her children and grandchildren were her life.
Mrs. Schneider was proceeded in death by her parents, first husband, Dan Tortorelli, and her second husband, Theodore Schneider.
She is survived by her sons, Danny Domnick (Dorothy) Schneider, Denver; David Lee (Gail) Tortorelli, Englewood; Rudy Douglas (Irene) Tortorelli, Salida and William Clayton of New Braunfels, Texas.
Other survivors are her daughter, Barbara Jean Tortorelli-McCoy, Salida; sister, Marjorie Waymoir, Nathrop; 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 8 a.m. to noon Friday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Services are set for 9 a.m. Saturday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Interment will follow in the Howard Cemetery.
Friends who desire may make memorial contributions to Angel of Shavano Hospice or the American Cancer Society through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Terry D. Jimerson
Terry D. Jimerson, 40, of Buena Vista, died Sept. 13, 2004, at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver.
She was born in San Andreas, Calif., Jan. 25, 1964. She moved to Colorado at the age of 1 and subsequently graduated from Buena Vista High School in 1982. She married Mark Jimerson Sept. 19, 1982.
She lived in Gunnison for five years, but called Buena Vista home most of her life. She moved to Thornton in 2001 with her fiancé, John Fodge.
Ms. Jimerson was known as a wife, a mother, a sister and a friend. She worked at Dr. David Drake’s office, Dr. Huffer’s office, World Savings, Mountain Medical Clinic, People’s Bank and Key Bank.
She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family, Karaoke, music, ice skating, theater, charity work and spending time with her beloved animals.
Survivors are her daughter, Charisa Jimerson and son, Justin Jimerson, both of Nathrop; fiancé, John Fodge, Thornton; mother, Dorene “Dee” Berutto, Thornton; sister, Vicki Archer, Lodi, Calif.; brothers Wayne Stilwell, Lockford, Calif.; Dirk Stilwell, Tucson, Ariz. and Jim Stilwell, Colorado Springs; numerous nieces, nephews, friends and her dog, Jack.
She was preceded in death by her father, Frederick Larry Stilwell, Colorado Springs and her grandmother, Mable Moles.
Viewing will be from 7-9 p.m. today at Runyan Mortuary. The funeral service will be at 4 p.m. Saturday at Clearview Community Church in Buena Vista.
Interment will be at Mount Olivet Cemetery, Buena Vista.
Donations may be made to the Terry Jimerson memorial fund at People’s Bank or through Runyan Mortuary.
Mary R. Middleton
Mary R. Middleton, 89 of Salida, died Sept. 14, 2004, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Middleton was born Nov. 21, 1914, in Ennis, Texas, to Vern and Julia (Eason) Robinson.
She married Jack Middleton in 1936, in Waxahachie, Texas. Mrs. Middleton was a teacher for 25 years in Waxahachie and retired in 1978.
She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church and P.E.O. International.
She is survived by her husband, Jack Middleton, Salida; sons, Wayne (Sue) Middleton, Lafayette and Robert (Virginia) Middleton, Broomfield; daughter, Carolyn (David) Smith, Red Oak, Texas; sister, Frances Dodson of Alexandria, La.; three grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Sept. 17, 2004, at First Presbyterian Church in Salida.
Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
George McManus
George McManus, 81, died Sept. 12, 2004, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home in Salida.
Mr. McManus was born May 14, 1923, in Salida to Hugh and Blanch (Farrell) McManus.
He was proceeded in death by his parents and his brothers and sisters. No services are planned. Interment will take place in Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Gerald Roberts
Gerald Roberts, 85, died Dec. 31, 2004, at Salina (Kansas) Regional Health Center.
He was born Oct. 5, 1919, in the Council Grove Community as the son of Emmett and Clara Suebert Roberts. He was raised in Strong City Community and attended Strong City Schools.
Mr. Roberts began his rodeo career at age 13 and was World Champion All Around Cowboy in 1942 and 1948.
He was inducted into the Kansas Sports Hall of Fame, the Cowboy Hall of Fame and Western Heritage Center in Oklahoma City, and the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association Hall of Fame in Colorado Springs.
Arriving in Abilene, Kan., in 1964, he established the Chap-Parel Manufacturing Co. producing rodeo equipment. On May 27, 1966, He married Pat Hershberger May 27, 1966.
He was a lifetime member of the Western and English Sales Association, lifetime member and gold card holder in the Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association.
Mr. Roberts was a member of the Screen Actors Guild when he was a motion picture stuntman, an honorary member of the Wild Bill Hickok Rodeo Committee, and Abilene Elks Club.
He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Clifford, Ken and Howard Roberts; sister, Marge Hart and daughter, Jaye Roberts.
Survivors are his wife Pat, Abilene; son, Jim Roberts, Abilene; five daughters, Lala Roberts, Dallas, Texas; Claudette Roberts, Lancaster, Calif.; Geri Roberts, Dallas; Kasey Smith, Dallas and Joye Turner, Joplin, Mo.; sister, Gloria Beck, Clay Center, Kan.; 18 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Funeral services were held Jan. 5, 2005, at Abilene First United Methodist Church.
