Clarence Edward Macnab
Clarence Edward MacNab, 94, Iowa Falls, Iowa, died Sept. 17, 2003, at Hubbard Care Center, Hubbard, Iowa.
Mr. MacNab was born Nov. 24, 1908, in Pittsburgh, Pa., the son of Frank R. and Annie (Palmer) MacNab.
He graduated from Wilkinsburg (Pa.) High School with the class of 1926. He attended business school, receiving his accounting certificate.
He was a tax accountant with Westinghouse Electric in Pittsburgh before retiring in 1968. He and his wife moved to Iowa Falls, Iowa, in 1986.
Survivors include his son, Dave (Elaine) Macnab, Salida; grandchildren, Ruth (Gary) Long, Salida; Ernest (Beth) MacNab, Nathrop; Daniel MacNab, Salida and four great grandchildren, Alana, Alisa, Colin and Chase MacNab of Nathrop.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, at Linn’s Funeral Home Iowa Falls Chapel. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, Iowa Falls.
Visitation will be from 2-7 p.m. Friday at Linn’s Funeral Home, 1521 Washington Ave., Iowa Falls, Iowa, with the family receiving friends between the hours of 5 and 7 p.m.
Memorials may be directed to Darren Patterson Christian Academy in Buena Vista or to the Grainery Ministries in Salida.
Grace A. Hilderbrand
Grace A. Hilderbrand, 91, died June 27, 2003, at Columbine Manor Nursing Home.
She was born Jan. 10, 1912, in Sherman, Ill., to Frank and Cora (Gregg) Yocum.
She married John Brown in Ogallala, Neb., in 1931 and remarried John Hilderbrand in Ogallala in 1973.
Mrs. Hilderbrand was a factory worker for TRW until her retirement. She loved gardening, all types of flowers and sewing.
She was a resident of Salida for the past five years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husbands, John Brown and John Hilderbrand.
She is survived by son, Jim (Robin) Brown, Salida; daughter, June Flores, Ogallala, Neb.; seven grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren.
Interment and services will be held Wednesday afternoon in Ogallala, Neb.
Services are with Gubser Funeral Home, 602 N. Spruce St., Ogallala, NE 69153.
Local arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Dick Wittwer
Dick Wittwer, 84, Buena Vista, died June 29, 2003, at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center.
He was born May 25, 1919, in Lebanon, Kan., to Frank A. and Agnes B. Wittwer.
Mr. Wittwer served in the Army in Europe as a sergeant during World War II.
He married Josephine M Wisniewski.
Mr. Wittwer retired from Commonwealth Edison Electric Co., Chicago, Ill.
He was a member of the local Sportsman’s Club and Veterans of Foreign Wars Post No. 1166. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and target shooting.
Mr. Wittwer is survived by his wife, Josephine Wittwer, Buena Vista; sons, Carl (Rae) Wittwer, Sarasota, Fla.; Robert (Ellen) Wittwer, Nashville, Tenn.; Thomas Wittwer, Redwood City, Calif. and James (Karin) Wittwer, Buena Vista; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Jack Wittwer.
Viewing will be from 6-8 p.m. today at Runyan Mortuary, Buena Vista. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church. Interment will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
Arrangements are by Runyan Mortuary, Buena Vista.
Lucille A. Baron
Lucille A. Baron, 71, life-long Salida resident, died July 4, 2003, at Heart of The Rockies Regional Medical Center.
Ms. Baron was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Salida, to Anthony and Johanna (Godec) Baron.
She was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Ms. Baron worked for Salida Building and Loan and St. Joseph Credit Union for many years.
For the last 10 years she lived at Mt. Shavano Manor.
Ms. Baron was preceded in death by her parents and aunt, Susie Godec and uncle, Albert Godec.
She is survived by many cousins.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary is set for 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church with mass to follow at 10:30 a.m. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery.
Friends who desire, may make memorial contributions to St. Joseph Catholic Church through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Lucille A. Baron
Mass of the Christian burial for Lucille A. Baron was held at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Fr. Henry Grodecki C.M. officiated the service. The organist was Georgianna Smith and the soloist was Jeanne Kostelic.
Musical selections were “Prayer of St. Francis,” “Ave Maria” and “You Are Mine.”
Pallbearers were John Coleman, Alex Walker, Stan Provenza and John Tancik.
Honorary pallbearer was Ted Sarai.
Interment took place at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Dixie Jo Revis
Dixie Jo Revis, 65, Salida, , died July 4, 2003, at Heart of The Rockies Regional Medical Center.
Mrs. Revis was born Dec. 12, 1937, in Albuquerque, N.M., to Elmo and Christina (Price) Kinyon.
She married John Revis many years ago and they moved to Salida from Southern California more than seven years ago.
She was a legal secretary for a California state judge prior to retirement.
Mrs. Revis was also a concert pianist and artist.
Most recently, she was an active member of the First Presbyterian Church.
Mrs. Revis was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, John Revis, Salida; sister, Alice Kinyon, Salida; sons, John (Joan) Revis, Littleton and Michael Revis, Sterling, Alaska and grandchildren, Tiffany, John, Megan and Jerome Revis.
Services are scheduled for 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery. A reception is planned after interment at First Presbyterian Church.
Friends who desire, may make memorial contributions to the First Presbyterian Church Building Fund through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Dixie Jo Revis
Funeral services for Dixie Jo Revis were held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the First Christian Church.
Pastor Mike Orrill officiated. The organist was Frank Lanaghen.
Musical selections were “How Great Thou Art” and “Amazing Grace.”
Pallbearers were John Douglas Revis, Jerome Revis, Chuck Coffman, David Davidoff, John Skinner and Dan Timbrell.
Interment was at Fairview Cemetery.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Bryan David Dreher
Bryan David Dreher, 35, a resident of Salida for the past eight years, died July 9, 2003.
He was born Aug. 13, 1967, in Allentown, Pa., to Randolph and Cindy (VanScyoc) Dreher.
Mr. Dreher has been a rafting guide for the past 20 years and is well known in the area for his expertise in rafting and kayaking. He was employed at Clear Creek Rafting Co. as a guide and as manager at their Royal Gorge Office.
He was a member of the 2002 Men’s U.S. Rafting Team. He competed in numerous rafting and kayaking competitions and has always placed high in the events.
His other interests include cooking, carpentry and playing the guitar.
Mr. Dreher is survived by his daughter who will celebrate her first birthday July 18, Lydia Ann Dreher of Salida; father, Randolph Dreher and mother, Cindy Kichline, both of Bethlehem, Pa.; sister, Diane Pingarelli, Salsbury, Pa. and numerous friends in the area.
A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Saturday at the Stone Bridge river put-in, off CO 291 in Salida.
