Cleo Mary Lucero

Cleo Mary Lucero, 85, formerly of Salida, died Nov. 24, 2003, at St. Anthony Hospital in Denver.
Mrs. Lucero was born Dec. 5,1917, in Cotton Creek, to Donald F. and Beatrice (Garcia) Vigil.
Mrs. Lucero was preceded in death by her parents and husband, Anthony Lucero.
She is survived by her children, Dorothy (Frank) Maestas, Lorraine Lucero, Patricia (Silas) Carriaga, Thomas (Gwen) Lucero, Margaret Lucero, Theresa Lucero and Lawrence Lucero; 16 grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Ben (Clara) Vigil, Ernest (Bertha) Vigil, Rudolf (Dorothy) Vigil and sisters Patricia (Toby) Trujillo, Cordi Salazar and Virginia Renninger.
Recitation of the Holy Rosary is set for 7 p.m. Friday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial is set for 10:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery, Salida.
Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Pete Russell Apple

Pete Russell Apple, 53, Lamar, died Sept. 26, 2003, in Lamar.
He is survived by his wife, Annette (Vigil) Apple, Lamar; sons, Zerrel, Greeley and Zach, Fort Collins; in-laws, Tony and Virginia Vigil, Salida; brothers-in-law, Andrew (Vickie Sue) Vigil, Salida and Tony (Vanessa) Vigil, Bernallilo, N.M.; sister-in-law, Arlene (Lee) Rogers, Lamar and numerous nephews, nieces and other family members.
A private family memorial was held Monday at Peacock Funeral Home in Lamar.

Marion Lorene Bovee

Marion Lorene Bovee, formerly of Salida and Yuma, Ariz., died Sept. 26, 2003.
She was born July 27, 1919, in Leadville.
Her husband, Elmer, and sisters, Harriet and Irene “Sis,” preceded her in death.
Survivors include her brother, Bill; sons, Larry and Leslie, five grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A family service will be held today at Wescott Funeral Home in Cottonwood, Ariz.
Interment will be in Yuma.

Adrian Winsor Rose

Adrian Winsor Rose, 92, died Sept. 30, 2003, at home in Poncha Springs.
He was born in Red Bank, N.J., Sept. 21, 1911, to William S. and Eva E. Rose. He was raised on the family farm and tree nursery as one of 12 children.
Mr. Rose graduated from Red Bank High School and married Dagmar M. Johnson May 5, 1938, in New York City by a Swedish Lutheran pastor.
To this marriage were born three children, Christine Wolcott, Audrey Winsor and Stephen Ewen. His family was raised in Monmouth Beach, N.J.
Mr. Rose was employed in a variety of positions during his working years, with the greatest portion spent working for the Jersey Central Railroad and in several sales positions. In retirement, he and his wife lived in Granville, Ohio, Pueblo and in Florida.
He was a man of integrity, humor and a true Christian gentleman. He loved reading, music, the out-of-doors, good food, and most of all – his family.
Mr. Rose is survived by his daughter, Christine Richardson, her husband, Wilbur; Christine’s three children, Lisa Monro-Cline, Megan (Eric) Golla and Peter Monro; daughter, Audrey Ebner, her husband, Chet, their sons, Mark (Kris), Jeff, David, Seth, Joshua and Jeremy; his son, Stephen; nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Elva Wolcott.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; sisters, Grace and Vera; brothers, Vernon, Elmer, Wilford, Elton, Nelson, Melvin, Raymond and Theodore.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 18 at The United Methodist Church of Salida.
The family appreciates gifts to the church or the Angel of Shavano Hospice.

Ashley Michelle Tharp

Ashley Michelle Tharp, 18, Buena Vista, died June 8, 2003, at the Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida, following a one car accident.
She was born April 3, 1985, in Denver to Cynthia A. Tharp and Douglas G. Jordan.
Ms. Tharp was a talented, active and outgoing person and was involved with schoolmates and visited all teenage ministry groups with all her friends. She was a member of the Youth Outreach and a youth volunteer for Saint Rose of Lima Church.
She was a 2003 graduate of Buena Vista High School where she was an honor student and athlete.
Ms. Tharp is survived by her mother, Cynthia A. Foster-Tharp, Buena Vista; father, Douglas G. Jordan, Buena Vista; brothers, Joshua M. Tharp, Boulder (Navy) and Tyran M. Tharp, Norfolk, Va. (Navy); grandfather, John William Foster, III, Dallas, Texas; great-grandmother, Antoinnette Rossie, Denver and 11 uncles and 12 aunts.
A vigil service will be at 7 p.m. today and the funeral mass will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, Buena Vista. Private cremation will be held following services.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Ashley Tharp Memorial Fund in care of Peoples Bank, PO Box 1620, Buena Vista, CO 81211.

Robert A. ‘Babes’ Linza

Robert A. “Babes” Linza, 75, lifelong Salida resident, died June 6, 2003, at Heart of The Rockies Regional Medical Center.
Mr. Linza was born May 24, 1928, in Salida, to Phillip and Julia (DeBuano) Linza.
He was a life member of the Elks Lodge No. 808. He was also a member of the American Legion and served his country in the Air Force.
Mr. Linza enjoyed fishing and collecting fishing poles.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Mickey, Joe and Carl Linza.
He is survived by his wife, Clara Linza, Salida; stepsons, Ron (Denna) Garrison, Las Vegas, Nev. and Gerry (Joyce) Garrison, Norton, Kan.; grandchildren, Alisha Garrison, Thornton; Jessica Garrison, Indiana and Jason Garrison and Justin (Patrice) Garrison, Las Vegas, Nev.; sisters, Fran (Ed) Plum, Buena Vista; Mary (Sam) DeLeo, Salida and Jennie Pierson, Missouri; brother, Pal Linza, Salida and uncle, Carl DeBuano, Salida; sisters-in-law, Kathy (Walter) Donaldson, Clifton; Vera John, Las Vegas, Nev. and Rena (Charles) Sinclair, Loveland; brothers-in-law, Orson (Jeanette) Kingham, Las Vegas, Nev.; Fred (Carolyn) Kingham, Norton, Kan. and John (Anna) Kingham, Norton, Kan.; seven great-grandchildren, special niece, Kerrie (Randy) McFarland, Salida and many other nieces and nephews.
Services are set for 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Friends who desire may make memorial contributions to the charity of their choice through Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Robert A. ‘Babes’ Linza (funeral notice)

Memorial services for Robert A. “Babes” Linza were held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
Fr. Henry Grodecki C.M., officiated the service. The organist was DiAnn Bourget and soloists were Russ and Lynn Purcell.
Musical selections were “How Great Thou Art,” “Amazing Grace,” “You’ll Never Walk Alone” and “Rock of Ages.”
The Eulogy was given by Randy McFarland.
Members of Salida Elks Lodge No. 808 held their traditional memorial service and the Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion did a flag presentation.
Arrangements were with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Katelynn Rose Milstein

Newborn Katelynn Rose Milstein died July 29, 2003, at 5:30 a.m. at Heart of the Rockies Regional Medical Center in Salida.
She was born July 29, 2003 at 12:36 a.m., to Curtis Lynn and Margaret Mary Rose Milstein.
She is survived by her parents of Salida; grandparents, Stephen and Mary Ann Raynoha, Madison, Wis.; Mae and Jim Bowman of the United States Air Force Academy and Samuel and Patricia Milstein of Petoskey, Mich.
Katelynn’s heart was donated through the Donor Alliance.
A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home, 203 E. Sackett Ave., Salida.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Heart of Rockies Regional Medical Center OBGYN Department through the funeral home.
Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.

Michael P. Kinneman

Michael P. Kinneman, 52, Coaldale, died Aug. 2, 2003, at Penrose Hospital in Colorado Springs.
Mr. Kinneman was born March 9, 1951, in Danville, Ill., to Richard (Pauline) Kinneman.
He was employed for the last seven years at the Buena Vista Correctional Facility as a correctional officer.
He married Cherie Russo July 10,1992, in Hayden Creek. They renewed their vows June 21, 2002 at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
Mr. Kinneman was a physical education teacher in Illinois and had been a substitute teacher in Cotopaxi and Salida.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was an avid Colorado Avalanche fan.
Mr. Kinneman is survived by his parents and wife, Cherie Kinneman, Coaldale; sons, Mike Kinneman of Texas, Stephen Korenek of Mississippi and Ryan Korenek of Coaldale; daughter, Natasha Kinneman, Coaldale; sisters, Lana (John) Parker and Paula Moore, all of Illinois; brother-in-law, Barry Russo of Texas and many nieces and nephews.
Viewing will be from 9 a.m. to noon and from 1-4 p.m. today at Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home. Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass will follow at 10:30 a.m.
Interment will be held at a later date at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Texas.
Friends who desire may make memorial contributions to the benefit fund for Mr. Kinneman’s children, c/o High Country Bank, P.O. Box 309, Salida, CO 81201.
Arrangements are with Lewis and Glenn Funeral Home.
