Freeda Miller
(March 17, 1915 - October 8, 2011)

Mrs. Freeda Miller, 96, of La Junta, died Saturday, October 8th, 2011 peacefully at the Pioneer Health Care Center, Rocky Ford, CO.
Freeda was born in Loveland, CO, on March 17, 1915, the daughter of the late Jacob and Mary Katharina (Handshuh) Ehrlich.
She graduated from Las Animas High School in 1929.
She was the widow of David Miller.
They were married on Jan. 5, 1932. He preceded her in death in 1978.
She was a Homemaker and also worked at the Arkansas Valley Hospital in La Junta.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in La Junta, CO.
She was a past volunteer for the Salvation Army.
She is survived by Numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; daughter: Mildred Joann Reeder; 2 sons: Gerald "Jerry" Miller & Kenneth "Larry" Miller; grandson: Gary Reeder.
Funeral Services at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home, Rocky Ford, CO, at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 12th, with Pastor Wallace Kurtz officiating.
A Visitation will be on Wednesday from 9 AM until service time at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Fairview Cemeteries in La Junta, CO.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.

Edward A. Morris
(April 23, 1933 - August 16, 2011)
Mr. Edward Albert Morris, 78, of Rocky Ford died on Tuesday, August 16th, 2011 at Arkansas Valley Regional Medical Center, La Junta, CO.
Edward was born in Oakwood, OK on April 23, 1933, the son of the late William Henry and Vina Mae (Baird) Morris.
He graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1951
He was the husband of Claudeane Elaine (Zents) Morris.
They were married in 1958 in Pueblo, CO.
She survives.
He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean War.
He worked as a Foreman at CF&I; Steel Mills Pueblo, CO retiring in 1986.
Prior to working for CF&I; he worked as a meat cutter.
He was a member of the American Legion 168 in Manzanola.
He is survived by his wife; Claudeane of Pueblo; Daughter Debbie wife of Rudy Hernandez of Alamogordo, NM; Son David husband of Annette Morris of Pueblo, CO; Daughter Diane wife of Larry Jaramillo of Pueblo, CO; Sister Carole wife of Don Wilkins of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Donald Morris of Los Alamos, NM; Special Friend Susan Prescott of Rocky Ford, CO. He is also survived by 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brother: Sidney Morris and a sister-in-law: Elaine Morris.
Funeral Services will be at the Valley Community Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 2:00 PM on Monday, August 22nd, with Pastor Wallace Kurtz officiating.
A Visitation will be on Sunday from 1-3 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery Rocky Ford, CO.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association 3472 Research Pkwy. #104 Colorado Springs, CO 80920.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.

Rexford L. Mitchell
(August 5, 1925 - September 25, 2011)

Rexford L. Mitchell, Sr., 86, of Farmington, NM, passed away Sunday, September 25, 2011, at San Juan Regional Hospital in Farmington, NM, after complications with pneumonia.
He was born August 5, 1925, in St. Paul, MN, to Bert Emmett Mitchell, Sr. and Flossie Eardley Mitchell.
Rex married Peggy Anne Burgett in Boulder, CO, on June 11, 1949.
They resided in Rochester, NY, before moving to Rocky Ford, CO, in 1957, to start his law practice.
He earned a degree as a civil engineer and later, his law degree from Colorado University.
He was a well known attorney in the Rocky Ford, CO, area for many years.
He served as the Rocky Ford City Attorney and Otero County Attorney as well as serving as county commissioner.
He was active in the Rotary Club and served as Rotary Governor in southeastern Colorado.
Rex was an avid golfer and Denver Bronco fan.
He and Peggy enjoyed traveling the world.
They retired to Las Vegas, NV, and enjoyed golfing and traveling until their health declined.
When Peggy passed away in 2008, Rex moved to Farmington, and lived at the Bridge and finally the Beehive.
He was preceded in death by his parents; beloved wife, Peggy Ann Mitchell; and brother, Bert Mitchell, Jr.
He is survived by his sons, Rex “Duke” Mitchell, Jr. and wife Shari of Farmington, NM; Mike Mitchell and wife Melody of Parker, CO; daughter, Patty Gerber and husband Paul of Las Vegas, NV; grandchildren, Laura Huish and husband Bobby, Kimberly Mitchell, Christine Mitchell, and Tom Grantham; and great grandchildren, Sam and Troy Mitchell, Bradley and Joshua Huish, Hayden Stalker Mitchell, and Jenna Grantham.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of the Beehive, especially Tamera Howell, who gave him extra special care in his final days.
A private family memorial service will be held in Rocky Ford, CO, at a later date.

Jerry Frank Guzman
(May 5, 1939 - September 8, 2011)

Mr. Jerry Frank George Guzman, 72, of Rocky Ford died Thursday, September 8th, 2011 peacefully at Parkview Medical Center, Pueblo, CO.
Jerry was born in Rocky Ford, CO on May 5, 1939, the son of the late George Miranda and Opal Apodaca (A.) Guzman.
He was a member of St. Peters Catholic Church in Rocky Ford, CO.
He is survived by: Brother Leonard husband of Sara Guzman of Phoenix, AZ; Numerous Nieces & Nephews
He was preceded in death by: 4 sisters: Alice Perez, Martha Sigala, Sarah Arellano, Mary Louise Lopez; Brother: Ted Guzman.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Wednesday, September 14th, with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating.
A visitation will be on Tuesday 1-5 PM at Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
A Rosary Service will be recited at 9:30 AM Wednesday at St. Peters Catholic Church.
Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO.
Casket Bearers: Bill Jackson, Tom Perez, Larry Perez, Lenny Guzman, Pete Thompson, Eddie Perez.
Honorary Casket Bearers: Bob Perez, Ray Sigala, Mario Sigala, Phil Perez, Jr., Joe Sigala, Cindy Arellano, John Paul Sigala, Debbie Guerrero.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.

Joseph "Milkyway" Matthew Estrada
(March 18, 2011 - August 30, 2011)

Mr. Jordan Matthew (Milkyway) Estrada, 5 months, of Pueblo died unexpectedly, Tuesday, August 30th, 2011 at Memorial Health System, Colorado Springs, CO.
Jordan was born in Lone Tree, CO on March 18, 2011, the son of Joseph Micheal and Patricia Ann Clara (Sierra) Estrada.
He is survived by his parents Joseph and Patricia Ann of Pueblo; Brother Josh Reyes of Manzanola, CO; Sister Cheyenne Estrada-Chavez of Manzanola, CO; Sister Stephanie Mondragon of Pueblo, CO; Brother Micheal Estrada of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Dakota Chavez of Rocky Ford, CO; Sister Clemencia Estrada Brother Joziah Estrada of Pueblo, CO; Grandmother Angela Gavin of Pueblo, CO; Grandmother Mary Ortega of Pueblo, CO; Grandmother Loretta wife of Marton Lucero of Pueblo, CO.
He is also survived by Aunt: Amada Price, Aubri Estrada, Roberta Martinez all of Pueblo, Aunt: Desiree Martinez and husband Adam of Fountain, CO, Aunt: Paulette and husband Victor Sierra-Solis of Denver, CO; Uncles: Adrian Price, Leroy Lucero, Jr., P.J. Sierra and Jesus Sierra all of Pueblo.
An Angel Mass will be celebrated at the St. Peters Catholic Church, Rocky Ford, CO at 2:00 PM, Wednesday, Sept. 7, 2011 with Fr. Paul Ekeh officiating.
Interment will be in the Manzanola Cemetery, Manzanola, CO.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.

Jody Lynn Keck
(August 20, 1954 - October 5, 2011)

Mrs. Jody Lynn Keck, 57, of Manzanola died on Wednesday, October 5th, 2011 while in the company of family members at her residence.
Jody was born in Rocky Ford, CO on August 20, 1954, the daughter of the late John and Martha Jane (Smith) Bitter.
She graduated from Rocky Ford High School in 1972.
She was the wife of Richard Keck. They were married on Dec. 28, 1973 in Raton, NM. He survives.
She worked as a Department Manager at Wal-Mart in La Junta, CO., for 18 years
She is survived by her husband, Richard of the home; Son Chris Keck of Rocky Ford, CO; Son Chance Rallis of Rocky Ford, CO; Brother Mark Bitter of La Junta, CO; Granddaughter Hayley Keck of La Junta, CO; Grandson Kyle Keck of La Junta, CO; Granddaughter Kaitlynn Keck of La Junta, CO; Sister-in-law Sue Lee of Lamar, MO; Sister-in-law Carol Eaton of Golden City, MO; Brother-in-law David Keck of Republic, MO; Mother-in-law JoAnn Keck of Rocky Ford, CO; Niece Kayla Bitter of La Junta, CO; Niece Kristen Bitter of La Junta, CO.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral Services will be at the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Monday, October 10th, with Pastor John Dell officiating.
There will be no public viewing.
Interment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.

Vada Mae Baptist
(June 14, 1927 - October 9, 2011)

Mrs. Vada Mae Baptist, 84, of Craig, CO died on Sunday, October 9th, 2011.
Vada was born in Mt. Sterling, IL on June 14, 1927, the daughter of the late Emmett and Fannie (Clark) Wolfmeyer.
She was the widow of James Baptist.
They were married on Feb. 24, 1946 in Mt. Sterling, IL.
She is survived by: Son, John husband of Sharon Baptist Son, James D. husband of Linda Baptist
She is also survived by 7 Grandchildren; 16 Great-Grandchildren; 1 Great-Great-Grandchild.
She was preceded in death by a son: Steve.
Graveside Services will be at the Hillcrest Cemetery, Rocky Ford, CO, at 10:00 AM on Saturday, October 15th, with Pastor John Dell officiating.
There will be no viewing as cremation has been effected. Inurnment will be in the Hillcrest Cemetery in Rocky Ford, CO.
Local Arrangements have been entrusted to the Ford-Ustick Funeral Home.
