Nancy E. Dunn, Boulder, CO

1925 - 2008

Nancy E. Dunn of Boulder died Saturday September 20, 2008 at her home. She was 83.

She was born February 14, 1925 to Clark B. and Jessie L. (Witherill) Clemons in Kalamazoo, Michigan. Nancy graduated from Jackson High School in Jackson, MI, and attended the University of Colorado, graduating in 1948 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. On April 17, 1948 she married Duane A. Dunn in Denver, CO. She worked for the Boulder Valley Public Schools.

Nancy was a member of the CU Alumni, Sierra Club, the World Wildlife Fund and the 78th Fighter Group Association. She enjoyed photography, Colorado history, literature, music, art, travel, museums, walking and spending time outdoors.

Mrs. Dunn is survived by her husband Duane Dunn, two daughters; Cathey Dunn of Longmont, and Barbara Dunn of Palm Desert, CA; two sons; James Dunn of Lafayette, and Roger Dunn of Broomfield; one sister Marilyn O’Neil of Petoskey, MI; and nine grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her parents and one brother Clark Clemons.

A memorial service will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, September 25th, 2008 at Crist Mortuary 3395 Penrose Pl., Boulder, CO, with Chaplin Ginger Brooks of Family Hospice officiating. Interment will be held at Fort Logan National Cemetery at a later date.

Aileen Ann Clark, Boulder, CO

1921 - 2008

Aileen Ann Clark, 86, of Boulder, died Thurs. September 4, 2008 at Boulder Community Hospital.

Aileen was born October 29, 1921 to William Andrew and Emelia Marie (Schnurbusch) Popst in Haybro, CO. She graduated from Fairplay High School in Fairplay, CO in 1939. She married Thomas Williams on February 21, 1940. He preceded her in death in 1948. She then married Kenneth M. Clark on June 16, 1955 in Golden, CO. He preceded her in death on October 21, 1981. A lifelong resident of Colorado, she enjoyed fishing, her Hummel collection, travel and going to the Colorado mountains.

Survivors include 2 sons, Thomas David (Sue) Williams of Las Cruces, NM, and Ken F. Clark of Boulder; son-in-law, Jack Lacy of Boulder; 3 daughters, Sue (Wayne) Phillips of Beaverton, OR, Judy (Donald - deceased) McIrvin of Rock Springs, WY, Marlene (Alan) Sorota of Pembroke Pines, FL; 4 sisters, Carol Jo (Norm) Thompson of Thornton, CO, Doris (Warren A. - deceased) Pennington of Boulder, Mary Jean (Ben Sr.) Chaney of Boulder, Nancy (Terry Sr.) Gallagher of Boulder; 16 grandchildren & 21 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father William Popst, mother Emelia, sister Evelyn Popst, brother Jack Popst, sister Anna May Popst, and daughter Patricia Lacy.

Private family graveside services will be held.

Christopher “Kit” Blakemore, of Boulder passed away on Monday, September 1, 2008. He was 56. Crist Mortuary of Boulder is handling arrangements.

Allison C Pearson

1960 - 2008

Allison C. Pearson, 47, of Loveland, Colorado passed away at Hospice Care at McKee in Loveland on Wednesday, July 16, 2008.

Allison Carol Pearson was born on August 14, 1960 in Dallas, Texas to Jack and Carol (Bowman) Beasley. The family moved to Boulder in August 1967. Early in her years Allison loved to figure skate and was very talented receiving many awards and recognition. She blossomed into a beautiful woman.

Allison graduated from Fairview High School in Boulder in 1978. She met Edward Allan Pearson in the summer of 1984 and they were married in Boulder on March 16, 1985 at Boulder Valley Christian Church. Allison attended the Colorado Institute of Art and in later life Front Range Community College where she became a certified dental assistant.

Allison was a caring, devoted wife and mother who was dearly loved by her husband and son. A close family, they spent most of their lives in Loveland, Colorado.

Survivors include her husband Edward A. and son Edward B. Pearson, her mother Carol Bowman and father Jack Beasley, her grandmother –in- law Dorothy Bowman, father and mother-in-law Edward and Eleanor Pearson, sisters Nancy King, Melinda Rooks and their families, sisters-in-law Linda Highfill, Laura Pearson and their families, brother-in-law Jim Pearson and his family, many relatives, extended family and friends. Allison will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Cremation has been conducted with a graveside service on Monday, 3:00pm in the Loveland Burial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions in Allison’s memory can be made to the Lupus Foundation or to a charity or organization of their choice.

Robert "Bob" H. Fisher, Boulder, CO

1921 - 2008

Robert “Bob” H. Fisher passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 at Frasier Meadows Health Care Center in Boulder after a four month battle with thyroid cancer.

Bob was born in Denver, CO to Oscar and Amelia (Cedarblade) Fisher. Bob attended school in Englewood, CO and then entered the US Navy, serving in the South Pacific on a minesweeper, during WWII. Upon returning, he married his high school sweetheart, Madelyne Keating.

Bob and Madelyne loved automobiles and he began his automotive career in 1947 at Burt Chevrolet in Englewood, CO until 1968 when the family moved to Boulder. Bob became partners with Russ Lyons of Russ Lyons Chevrolet and eventually Bob and Madelyne purchased the Chevrolet franchise from Russ Lyons in 1973. They moved the dealership to 33rd & Arapahoe and then to Cherryvale and Arapahoe. Bob added many franchises over the years such as Isuzu, Hyundai, Pontiac and Honda. Today the business is Fisher Chevrolet-Honda, Inc.

Bob and Madelyne were married for 63 years and totally adored each other. They raised two children, Lynn Rickman of Lafayette and Craig Fisher of Boulder. Today Craig and Lynn operate the business along with a staff of 120 employees, who are the foundation of the business and who Bob and Madelyne had always acknowledged.

Bob had always been community-minded serving as President of the Boulder Chamber of Commerce and as a State Legislative Director. He received the Time Magazine Dealer Award honoring outstanding automobile dealers in America. He was a member of the Masons and Shriners.

Retirement was never one of his goals. He loved working, being involved and worked full time up until his illness began in March 2008.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Virginia Quinn. He is survived by his wife, Madelyne; daughter Lynn (Tom) Rickman; son Craig (Jan) Fisher; grandchildren, Allyson Fisher, Courtney (Mark) Brady; step grandchildren Tara McMurray, Kyle McMurray, Corrie (Leigh) Kraft, Kevin (Crystle) Rickman, and Colin Rickman; brother Al (Nancy) Fisher of San Antonio, TX and their daughter, Barbara Etchieson of Texas; brother, Ed Fisher of Denver, CO and his son, Gary Fisher; sister-in-law Corinne Pussard of Aurora, CO and Corinne’s children JoAnn Moody and Michael Pussard; great-grandchild Greyson Brady, and step great-grandchildren Hayden & Nate Rickman.

The family wants to thank the many Doctors, Nurses and Health Care specialists at Boulder Community Hospital and Frasier Meadows who provided exceptional care for Bob.

At Bob’s request, a private family service will take place at Fort Logan National Cemetery. Notes of condolences are welcome and can be sent to the Fisher Family, PO Box 1029, Boulder, CO 80306

Norman Abramowitz, Louisville, CO

1948 - 2008

Norm Abramowitz of Louisville, CO passed away on July 19, 2008. He was 59.

Norm was born on September 11, 1948 to Evey and Lou Abramowitz in the Bronx, New York. He received his Bachelor's Degree of Education from Queen's College and his Masters degree from Adelphi University.

He married Judy Mutterperl on August 3, 1986 at Torrey Pines State Park in San Diego, CA.

Norm was a loved and devoted coach for the soccer club Boulder County Force, in which he coached for 12 years. He was also an avid runner, having run 8 marathons, including the New York and Boston Marathons. He touched the lives and brought joy to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed in our community and beyond.

Norm is survived by his mother; his wife Judy; his daughters Jamie and Lori Abramowitz, and siblings Les and Deana Abramowitz.

He is preceded in death by his father Lou.

A Memorial Service will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 23, 2008 at the Congregation Har HaShem, 3950 Baseline Road, Boulder, CO 80304. Interment will be at Mountain View Memorial Park, Boulder, CO.

In lieu of flowers, you are invited to contribute to the Norm Abramowitz Scholarship Fund. This fund will go towards making it possible for more kids to participate in playing soccer, and towards a Norm Abramowitz Memorial Bench at Pleasant View Soccer Complex in Boulder. Greg Powell, of Boulder passed away Friday, July 18, 2008 in Puerto Aventuras, Mexico. He was 55. Crist Mortuary of Boulder is handling arrangements.

Jenna Leigh Gendreau

1980 - 2008

Jenna Leigh Gendreau, 28, passed away July 16, 2008, in Windsor, Co. Jenna was born March 21, 1980, at Boulder Community Hospital.

Jenna is survived by her father, William Gendreau, of Boulder; mother, Nancy Johnson and stepfather, Dave Ireland, of Lafayette; brothers, Jake (Brandi) Gendreau, of Lafayette, Duncan Ireland, of Louisville, and Stuart (Simone) Ireland, of Erie; her two nephews, Kade and Dominik Gendreau, whom she adored; grandparents, AI (Bumper) Gendreau, and Raleigh and Joy Johnson; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. In addition, she leaves her long time boyfriend, Nathan Hoh, of Windsor and dog, Daisy.

She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mary Ellen (Nana) Gendreau.

Jenna grew up in Louisville and attended Louisville Elementary, Louisville Middle School, Centaurus High School, and graduated from Olde Columbine High School in Longmont.

Jenna was a loving, kind and sensitive daughter, sister, aunt and granddaughter. She loved her nephews, helping those less fortunate, music, cooking, gardening, clothes and her dog. She had an impish sense of humor and a poignant wit. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

May her soul be at peace.

A memorial will be held at St. Aidan's Episcopal Church at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 23, 2008.

Dorothy Snyder

1913 - 2008

Dorothy Norvell Snyder of 350 Ponca Place, Boulder, died August 15, 2008. She was 94.

Mrs. Snyder was born December 28. 1913, in Steamboat Springs, Colorado, the daughter of James L. and Mary Hamilton Norvell. She married Capt. E. Marion Johnson in 1942 in Arkansas who died in 1958. She married Wilbert F. Snyder in Boulder, December 26, 1976.

Mrs. Snyder graduated from Canon City, Colorado High School in 1931 and attended Barnes Business School in Denver Her business career embraced positions in Pueblo, Washington D.C., Jefferson County, and Denver. She moved to Boulder in 1963 and worked at the National Bureau of Standards until her retirement in 1976.

She was a member and elder of the First Presbyterian Church, Boulder. She was active in volunteer work, especially with organizations on Huntington’s disease. She has been a free-lance writer, publishing in various fields. Survivors include a grandson, Rob Johnson, of Claremore, Oklahoma, and one great grandson. She was preceded in death by four sister, two husbands, and two sons.

Dorothy was the dearest, kindest, most gracious and dignified person. She will be greatly missed by her many friends and her family

A memorial service will be held at the Frasier Meadows Chapel of Boulder on Wednesday August 20 at 2:00PM.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Memorial Fund at the First Presbyterian Church, 1820 15th St, Boulder, Colorado.

Catherine Ann Azevedo

1955 - 2008

Catherine Ann Azevedo, 52, passed away late Wednesday night. She was born Dec. 22, 1955, in Santa Clara, Calif.

She is survived by her three children, Alyssa, Nicholas and Dominic Graziano; her parents, Beverly Blockie and Robert Azevedo; and her siblings, Tricia Kennedy, Mike Azevedo, Tom Azevedo and Bob Azevedo.

Services will be held at today at 10:30am at Saint Theresa’s Catholic Church in Frederick.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the Cathy Azevedo Children’s Scholarship Fund in care of Bank of the West, 400 Center Dr., Superior, Colo.

Arrangements are being handled by Avalon Funeral Home in Lafayette.

Aura Montenero, Louisville, CO

1930 - 2008

Aura Montenero, 78, of Erie died July 13, 2008 at Juniper Village in Louisville. She was born June 23, 1930 in Bogota, Colombia South America to Luis Alberto and Georgina (Diaz) Garzon.

She was a secretary and bookkeeper in South America and in the US before her marriage to Mario Montenero in 1963. Aura became a homemaker raising her two daughters, Sonia Kirby of Longmont and Silvia Marina McLachlan of Firestone, and later worked for StorageTek. She attended Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church in Boulder and Life Song Church of Erie.

Aura loved her family and the Lord with all her heart, also nature, going for walks, dancing, cooking, baking, watching Lawrence Welk and shopping.

Visitation will be 7 PM to 8 PM Thursday July 17, 2008 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel. Funeral service will be 10:30 AM Friday July 18, 2008 at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel 326 Terry St. Longmont with Pastor Matthew A. Boardwell of Life Song Church officiating. Interment Longmont Mountain View Cemetery.

Contributions can be made to Sacred Heart of Jesus Catholic Church and sent in care of Ahlberg Funeral Chapel.
