Myrna Schwien Paulsen
April 29, 1922 - July 27, 2006
Myrna Schwien Paulsen, of Longmont, died of natural causes Thursday, July 27, 2006, in Louisville. She was 84.
The daughter of William Meyer and Anna Dehrkoop, she was born April 29, 1922, in Fargo, N.D.
Mrs. Paulsen lived in Boulder County from 1988 until her death.
Survivors include a son, Jerry Schwien, of Northglenn; a daughter, Janis Schnabel, of Lafayette; three grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister, Marciel Wilken.
A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Lafayette United Methodist Church, 1255 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette, with the Rev. Jenny Arfmann officiating. Interment will be at North Lawn Memorial Park in Spencer, Iowa.

George Ray Barnard
May 4, 1933 - July 25, 2006
George Ray Barnard, of Longmont, died of natural causes Tuesday, July 25, 2006, in Longmont. He was 73.
The son of Herbert L. Barnard and Avis Ritchie, he was born May 4, 1933, in Mahaska County, Iowa. He married Dorothy Lorenzen on Nov. 10, 1978, in Lincoln, Neb.
Mr. Barnard lived in Longmont from 2001 until his death.
He served in the U.S. Army from 1953 to 1961 and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, American Legion and Eagles Club. He enjoyed country music and was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his wife; four sons, David Barnard, of Bremeston, Wash., Doug Barnard, of Mollala, Ore., and Jeff Barnard and Steve Barnard, both of Lincoln; two daughters, Diana Jones, of Portland, Ore., and Vicki Fischman, of Omaha, Neb.; two sisters, Kay Slechta and Marceline Tennis, both of Longmont; 13 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Durant Barnard, Claire Barnard and Gordon Barnard.
Services will be at Fort McPherson National Cemetery in Maxwell, Neb., at a later date.

William Frederick Plato Jr.
June 10, 1944 - July 26, 2006
William Frederick Plato Jr., of Broomfield, died Wednesday, July 25, 2006, in Broomfield. The cause of death is under investigation. He was 62.
The son of William F. Plato Sr. and Nellie Wood, he was born June 10, 1944, in Philadelphia. He married Erin M. Potter Jerant in 1968 in Maywood, Ill. They divorced in 1974.
Mr. Plato lived in Broomfield from 1977 until his death.
He attended DeVry Institute of Technology and Front Range Community College and worked at Western Electric, AT&T; and Lucent Technologies. He was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers and enjoyed photography, writing and travel.
"Bill was loved by many friends and neighbors and will be missed deeply, " his family said. "He was delighted to become a grandfather twice."
Survivors include a daughter, Jennifer M. Coleburn, of Coupeville, Wash., and two grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
A memorial service will be at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the Broomfield Assembly of God, 11900 Reed St., Broomfield. Interment will be private.

Toby Alastair Wesley Davison
May 29, 1984 - July 19, 2006
Toby Alastair Wesley Davison, of Portland, Ore., formerly of Boulder, died July 19, 2006, in Portland. He was 22.
The son of Michael Edward Davison and Cheri Miller Constantine, he was born May 29, 1984, in Atlanta.
Mr. Davison lived in Boulder from 1990 until 1997.
A graduate of Benson High School in Portland, Mr. Davison attended Portland Community College. He worked at New Seasons Market as a deli and pastry clerk.
"Toby, our beloved son and brother, will be missed by all for his lively humor, his talent as a singer-songwriter, his wit and his heart of gold, " his family said.
Survivors include his father, of Boulder; his mother and stepfather, Dennis Constantine, both of Portland; his sister, Alana Davison, of Portland; his grandparents, Carol and Dean Miller, of Boulder; his grandmother, Carol Davison, of New York; and his stepbrother, Sean Constantine, of Boulder.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Harold Davison.
Services have been held.

James Glenn Brannock
April 17, 1934 - July 24, 2006
James Glenn Brannock, of Boulder, died of natural causes Monday, July 24, 2006, at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 72.
The son of James Matison Brannock and Cora Ethel Biddle Brannock, he was born April 17, 1934, in Boulder.
Mr. Brannock was a lifelong resident of Boulder.
He earned a bachelor's degree from the University of Colorado in 1956, a master's degree from CU in 1962, and a master's degree in English from the University of Wisconsin in Whitewater.
He worked for several Boulder firms, including Front Range Fire Apparatus, First National Bank, Bank One/Chase Bank and the Daily Camera.
He enjoyed reading and music, especially opera and musicals.
Survivors include two nephews, Larry Clemens, of Irving, Texas, and Gary Clemens, of Lovington, N.M.
A graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Mountain View Memorial Park, 3016 Kalmia Ave., Boulder. Family, friends and neighbors will conduct the service.

Astrid 'Audie' Louise Covey
April 8, 1933 - July 29, 2006
Astrid "Audie" Louise Covey, of Boulder, died of natural causes Saturday, July 29, 2006, in Boulder. She was 73.
The daughter of Carl Henry Landin and Mildred Johnson Landin, she was born April 8, 1933, in Omaha, Neb. She married Verner Christensen on Feb. 27, 1953, in Kimballton, Iowa. He died. She married Harry D. Covey on May 5, 1957, in Superior, Neb.
Mrs. Covey moved to Boulder in 1957.
A graduate of nursing school, she worked at Boulder Memorial Hospital, Puritan-Bennett and BI-Inc.
She was a member of the Sunshine Bunko Group and enjoyed reading murder mysteries. She adopted three families through World Vision.
"Audie was everybody's mother, and she will be missed by many, " her family said.
Survivors include three sons, Mark Nelsen, of Harlan, Iowa, John Nelsen, of Kimballton, Iowa, and Dennis Covey, of Hilo, Hawaii; two daughters, Janice Wheeler and Anita Hanson, both of Boulder; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by both husbands.
A celebration of life will be from noon to 3 p.m. Aug. 13 at Gold Hill Inn, 401 Main St.

Eugene C. Blanka
June 25, 1928 - July 31, 2006
Eugene C. Blanka, of Lafayette, died of natural causes Monday, July 31, 2006, at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties in Louisville. He was 78.
The son of Floyd Blanka and Lois R. Reddick Blanka, he was born June 25, 1928, in Lincoln, Neb. He married Wilma Wagner on Nov. 23, 1950, in Lafayette.
Mr. Blanka moved to Lafayette in 1950.
He served in the U.S. Marines from 1946 to 1948.
Survivors include his wife, of Lafayette; two sons, Jerry Blanka and Ricky Blanka, both of Lafayette; and a sister, Ruth Ann Kaiser, of Lafayette.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Leroy Blanka.
Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. today at Avalon Funeral Home, 1320 Centaur Village Drive, Lafayette.
Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Lafayette Cemetery, 111 Baseline Road.
David Quant
April 21, 1921 - July 31, 2006
David Quant, of Broomfield, died of natural causes Monday, July 31, 2006, in Broomfield. He was 85.
The son of Harold Quant and Essie Robertson, he was born April 21, 1921, in Riverside, Calif. He married Muriel Dawn Ducker in 1943 in California. She died in 1995.
Mr. Quant moved to Broomfield in 2005.
A high school graduate, Mr. Quant was a retired machinist. He enjoyed sports cars and his work.
Survivors include a daughter, Sidney Sisk, of Broomfield; and two grandchildren. Private family services will be held.

David George Para, of Louisville, died in a plane crash Sunday, July 30, 2006, near Betty Lake in rural Boulder County. He was 30.
