Mrs. Berry, 80, died Nov. 16, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She was a telephone operator for Mountain Bell and Colorado Interstate Gas.
Mrs. Berry was born Oct. 31, 1921, in Ardmore, Okla., to William J. and Ruth (Petty) Crook, who are deceased. She was married Aug. 14, 1942, to Edwin Berry Jr.
She is survived by her husband; two sons, Charles and Randy; a sister, Bettie Noble; three grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother, William H. Crook.
Visitation will be from noon to 6 p.m. today at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900. A graveside service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.

NYLEEN (ELLIOTT) ASP
Mrs. Asp, 85, died Nov. 17, 2001, at her home in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Asp was born Sept. 20, 1916, in Faulkner, Miss., to Benton and Eugenia (Braddock) Elliott, who are deceased. She was married July 18, 1937, to Claude S. Asp.
She is survived by her husband; a son, Elliott; a daughter, Esther A. “Amy” Carter; a sister, Pauline Ross; and three grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother and three sisters.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Ascension Lutheran Church, 2505 N. Circle Drive. Private family committal services will be held at a later date at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver.

VERA ELIZABETH SANDSTEAD
Mrs. Sandstead, 75, died Nov. 10, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She retired as a secretary from the Denver Police Department, District 2, after 22 years.
Mrs. Sandstead was born Sept. 1, 1926, in Broderick, Calif., to Alvin Austin and Averil Marjorie (Painter) Shoemaker, who are deceased. She was married to Paul Leland Sandstead, who is deceased.
She is survived by two sons, Douglas A. and Richard L.; a brother, Clarence Shoemaker; three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son.
A memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 5 at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel of Roses, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. Inurnment will be private.

RUTH ELEANOR BRENNA
Mrs. Brenna, 81, a former Colorado Springs resident, died Nov. 6, 2001, in Centralia, Wash. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Brenna was born March 19, 1920, in Mapes, N.D., to John and Anna (Olson) Haugen, who are deceased. She was married Oct. 31, 1940, to Lyle Brenna, who is deceased.
She is survived by two daughters, Linda Ahmuty and Jan Wilson; two sisters, Jenette Nelson and Maida Olson; six grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, Gary and James.

LEON C. “RED” EASTLACK
Mr. Eastlack, 81, died Nov. 17, 2001, at his home in Colorado Springs. He was a retired coach and a professor at Colorado College. He also served in the Marine Corps from 1942 to 1945.
Mr. Eastlack was born March 15, 1920, in Julesburg to Elbert S. and Hattie B. (Gilcrist) Eastlack, who are deceased. He was married Jan. 28, 1942, to Jane Hartshorn.
He is survived by his wife; a son, John C.; a daughter, Janice Hoehn; five grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Elbert Jr.
A committal service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave., with a memorial service to follow at 11 a.m. at First Congregational Church, 20 E. St. Vrain St. Spartan Services, 955 S. Union Blvd., Suite 235, 634-0402, is handling arrangements.

Mrs. Hessinger, 85, a former Colorado Springs resident, died Nov. 14, 2001, in Rangely. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Hessinger was born Sept. 24, 1916, in Monroe County, Ind., to Ezra and Esther (Zike) Johnston, who are deceased. She was married to Roy Hessinger, who is deceased.
She is survived by two sons, Lee Roy and George Kenneth; four sisters, Shirley Bryant, Marie Pritchard, Rita Smith and Mary Fiscus; nine grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

WILLIAM JENNINGS BIRKETT SR.
Mr. Birkett, 74, died Nov. 16, 2001, at his home in Colorado Springs. He was an executive manager.
Mr. Birkett was born May 4, 1927, in Trinidad to William and Lottie Marie Birkett, who are deceased. He was married to Alcarita Archuletta.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, William Jennings Birkett Jr., George Sanchez and Ron Sanchez; two daughters, Denia M. Layton and Susan Birkett-Gieck; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.

Geraldine, 81, died Nov. 16, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She was a homemaker.
Geraldine was born June 14, 1920, in Colorado Springs to Ralph and Della Garritson, who are deceased.
She is survived by a sister, Marion Medley.

VELMA I. RICE
Mrs. Rice, 84, died Nov. 16, 2001, at a local care center. She was a homemaker and helped her husband at their business.
Mrs. Rice was born May 18, 1917, in Ashby, Neb., to John W. and Mabel (Colerick) Bollerup, who are deceased. She was married Jan. 15, 1939, to Verne Clinton Rice, who is deceased.
She is survived by two sons, Larry and Dennis C.; a daughter, Sharon; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Jean Ann; her stepfather, William H. Wood; and a sister, Lavonne Wright.

Mr. Delgado, 23, died Nov. 13, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a bartender.
Mr. Delgado was born Sept. 28, 1978, in Chicago to James E. and Janis (Perkal) Swonke. He was married May 1, 2001, to Shelly Vander Lugt.
He is survived by his wife; a daughter, Tila Marie; his parents; two brothers, James Swonke and Daniel Swonke; a sister, Jennifer Swonke; and his grandparents, James and Louise Swonke and M. Jay and Ginny Perkal.

HAYDEN W. KANE
Mr. Kane, 77, died Nov. 16, 2001, at his home in Colorado Springs. He was an attorney. He served in the Army, 3rd Infantry, during World War II, from 1940 to 1945.
Mr. Kane was born April 18, 1924, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Alan and Stella Kane, who are deceased. He was married July 20, 1946, to Elizabeth Schermer.
He is survived by his wife; four sons, Thomas, Mark, Peter and Hayden II; two daughters, Kristine Faricy and Patricia Meyers; a foster son, Robert Woodrow; 16 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

ROGER LYNN BLAIR
Mr. Blair, 50, died Nov. 7, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a self-employed painter.
Mr. Blair was born July 25, 1951, in Owensboro, Ky., to Oscar and Annalee (Henderson) Blair. His mother is deceased. He was married in June 1985 to Linda Christian.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Roger Lynn Jr.; two daughters, April and Tina; his father; seven brothers, Ray, Terry, Michael, Ronald, Dennis, Steve and Robin; a sister, Sherry Cumbie; and a grandchild.
