GEORGE F. SOCHIA
Mr. Sochia, 74, died Dec. 16, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He served as a fire chief in the Army, retiring after 22 years of service. He was an assistant buyer and warehouse manager at Santa’s Workshop for 30 years.
Mr. Sochia was born May 11, 1927, in Baldwinsville, N.Y., to Joseph Sochia and Gladys Williamson, who are deceased. He was married Sept. 29, 1994, to Gloria Nier.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Will and Dominic; a daughter, Nancy Schlieman; three brothers, Joe, Ralph and Donald; a sister, Barbara Jean; and six grandchildren.
A memorial Mass will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Holy Rosary Chapel, 4435 Holiday Trail, Cascade. Burial will be private. Nolan Funeral Home, 225 N. Weber St., 632-7608, is handling arrangements.

MARY F. HAMPTON
Mrs. Hampton, 87, died Dec. 10, 2001, at a local care center. She was a retired housekeeper.
Mrs. Hampton was born Dec. 31, 1913, in Maysville County, Ky., to Isham and Annie Mae (Hand) Allen, who are deceased. She was married in 1946 to Sylvester L. Hampton, who is deceased.
She is survived by a daughter, Janet Terry; a brother, Frank Allen; a sister, Alverta Allen; six grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be at 4:30 p.m. Thursday at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel of Roses, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. Burial will be at Dayton National Cemetery, Dayton, Ohio.

DOROTHY S. BRADBURY
Mrs. Bradbury, 85, died Dec. 6, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She was a schoolteacher.
Mrs. Bradbury was born Aug. 3, 1916, in Livermore Falls, Maine, to Chester and Myrtie (Verrill) Soper, who are deceased. She was married April 24, 1942, to Alvin E. Bradbury, who is deceased.
She is survived by a son, Charles; a sister, Carolyn Dunmore; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold Soper and Robert Soper.

ARTHUR “ART” PACHECO
Mr. Pacheco, 78, died Dec. 10, 2001, at a local care center. He was a retired truck driver. He served in the Army during World War II.
Mr. Pacheco was born Nov. 19, 1923, in Las Vegas, N.M. He was married to Lucy May Kirchner Carmack.
He is survived by his wife; two sons, Steven and Sean; a sister, Sophia; and three grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joyce; and two sons, George and David.
A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Chapel of Roses, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. Inurnment will be at Shrine of Remembrance “America the Beautiful” Rose Gardens.

ASHLEE DAWN SAUNDERS
Ashlee, infant daughter of Julius “Dean” and Jennifer Saunders, died Dec. 7, 2001, in Colorado Springs.
Ashlee was born July 2, 2001, in Ogden, Utah.
She is survived by her parents; a brother, Kayden Jon; her paternal grandparents, Wendell V. and Vila T. Saunders; her maternal grandfather, Rickie J. Hoopes; and her maternal grandmother, Susan A. Hoopes.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. today with services at 3 p.m. at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 325 Putnam St., Security. Burial will be at a later date in Lyman, Wyo. Mountain View Mortuary, 2350 Montebello Square Drive, 590-8922, is handling arrangements.
RAY L. FETTERMAN
Mr. Fetterman, 80, died Dec. 8, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He retired from jewelry distribution sales. He was a Navy World War II veteran.
Mr. Fetterman was born July 31, 1921, in Los Angeles to Ray and Eugenia (Conterno) Fetterman, who are deceased. He was married Sept. 1, 1954, to Helen Rister, who is deceased.
He is survived by a daughter, Linda L.; a son, David M.; and a grandchild.

RONALD W. “RON” LONG
Mr. Long, 59, died Dec. 10, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was retired and served as a missionary.
Mr. Long was born Nov. 20, 1942, in Greeley to O.W. “Bunny” and Lucille (Forbes) Long. His mother is deceased. He was married Sept. 13, 1964, to Jan M. Kallsen.
He is survived by his wife; three sons, Randy W., Christopher R. and Joel D.; a daughter, Renee L. Fleeman; his father; a brother, Myron S.; and seven grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900. Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Swan Law Funeral Directors. Graveside services will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Greeley.

GLORIA ORTEGA
Mrs. Ortega, 66, died Dec. 10, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Ortega was born Sept. 3, 1935, in Cimarron, N.M. She was married to Joe John Ortega, who is deceased.
She is survived by two sons, Manuel and Raymond; three daughters, Lupe Venzor, Virginia Ortega and Julia Munoz; her mother, Petra (Herrera) Martinez; four brothers, Joe Archuleta, Rudy Archuleta, Bobby Archuleta and Frank Archuleta; four sisters, Susie Yzagerre, Mary Barraza, Beatrice Nunez and Evelyn Archuleta; 14 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

RALPH ROE
Mr. Roe, 83, died Dec. 7, 2001, in Florence. He retired as a lineman from the City of Colorado Springs. He served in the Army Corps of Engineers.
Mr. Roe was born Aug. 14, 1918, in Pittsburgh, to Frederick and Jessie Neale Roe, who are deceased. He was married Sept. 27, 1948, to Katherine.
He is survived by his wife; a son, Tim; a daughter, Rebecca A. Roe-Smith; a brother, George; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers, Earl, Jack and Alfred Neal; and two sisters, Eva Riley and Betty Roe.
A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. today at 2421 N. El Paso St. Charles Anthony Funeral Home, Florence, (719) 784-0832, handled cremation.

WALTER THEODORE HERBERT
Mr. Herbert, 94, a former longtime Colorado Springs resident, died Dec. 7, 2001, in Springfield, Mo. He drove a delivery truck for Standard Oil Co. and then went to work for Moorman’s Mineral & Feed in Quincy, Ill.
Mr. Herbert was born April 3, 1907, in Miami, Okla., to Ivan B. Herbert and Leslie Adams, who are deceased. He was married to Clara Combs, who is deceased.
He is survived by a son, Walter “Ted”; a daughter, Dorothy Hiatt; two sisters, Faye Wild and Marie Foster; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by seven brothers, three sisters and a grandchild.
A funeral service will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Evergreen Funeral Home “Chapel of Peace, 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., 475-8303. Burial will be at Calhan Cemetery, Calhan.
DALE EDWARD PETERSON
Mr. Peterson, 48, a Palmer Lake resident, died Dec. 9, 2001, at a local hospital. He was a cook.
Mr. Peterson was born Dec. 4, 1953, in New Orleans to Harold E. Peterson and Althea M. Derbes. His mother is deceased.
He is survived by a son, Cory; his father; a brother, David A.; and a sister, Denise.

NYA ANJILLINA LEWIS
Nya, infant daughter of Luis Angel Santiago and Jillian Ann Lewis, died Dec. 7, 2001, at a local hospital.
Nya was born Dec. 6, 2001, in Colorado Springs.
She is survived by her parents; her grandparents, Lori and Dan Costa and Jim and Sharon Lewis; her great-grandparents, Cliff and Mary Nelson and Ray and Helen Lewis; and her great-grandmother, Patsy Lewis.

Mrs. Hill, 73, died Dec. 3, 2001, at a local hospital. She retired as a test control officer from civil service.
Mrs. Hill was born June 24, 1928, in McCook, Neb. She was married Sept. 22, 1948, to Dale L. Hill.
She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Connie K. Elliott and Carol T. Waring; seven grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her mother, Irene (Wands) Wenburg.
