MARTIN WEISSMANN

Mr. Weissmann, 58, died April 10, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a computer assembler.

Mr. Weissmann was born Sept. 15, 1942, in Chicago, Ill., to Michael and Katherina (Speiss) Weissmann, who are deceased. He was married Oct. 19, 1964, to Marian C. Winterhoff.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Richard; a daughter, Marian A. Weissmann Ramos; a brother, Mike; two sisters, Eva and Helga; and his friend and caretaker, Nancy Wortkoetter.

Private family services will be held. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Services, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.

WILLIAM HENRY RYDER, MD

Dr. Ryder, 79, died April 14, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He practiced adult internal medicine in Colorado Springs from 1953 to 1992. He served in the Army, attaining the rank of captain.

Dr. Ryder was born May 18, 1921, in Colorado Springs, to Charles Tripp and Viola (Turck) Ryder, who are deceased. He was married May 1, 1948, to Virginia Tedrow.

He is survived by his wife; three sons, Dr. John Ryder, Ted Ryder and Rob Ryder; three daughters, Joan Ferguson, Eleanor Polich and Louise Ryder; a brother, Charles T. Ryder, MD; a sister, Viola Nicholson; and 11 grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a sister, Louise Wiselogle.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Shove Memorial Chapel, Colorado College Campus, 1010 N. Nevada Ave. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Services, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.

FRANK GALLARDO

Mr. Gallardo, 77, died April 15, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He retired as a custodian from School District 11.

Mr. Gallardo was born March 24, 1924, in Las Ceritos, to Carlos and Mary Romero Gallardo, who are deceased. He was married Oct. 24, 1953, to Selfa Martinez.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Luther, of Colorado Springs; two daughters, Delinda Gallardo and Rose Velez, both of Colorado Springs; five brothers, Alfy, George, Felix, Everly and Vincent; three sisters, Vange Morriston, Dorothy Northrip and Theresa Maestas; and a granddaughter, Miranda. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Orlando and Charlie.

Visitation will be from 2 to 7 p.m. today at Blunt Mortuary, 2229 W. Colorado Ave., 634-8831. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Blunt Mortuary Chapel. Burial will be at Fairview Cemetery, 1000 S. 26th St.

LYDIA "MAE" NOVAK

Mrs. Novak, 91, died April 13, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She was a rancher in Walsenburg for 30 years and a homemaker. She was also a member of Huerfano County Cowbelles.

Mrs. Novak was born July 1, 1909, in Raton, N.M., to John F. and Bersabe (Fernandez) Barnum, who are deceased. She was married to Andy Novak, who is deceased.

She is survived by three sons, Manuel "JR" Ulibarri, Abraham "Abe" Ulibarri and John Novak; three daughters, Matilda "Tillie" Guillory, Viola O'Shields and Edith Nesby; a brother, Bert Barnum; four sisters, Ella Gallegos, Viola Rodriguez, Edna Parong and Audrey Barnum; 21 grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; and numerous great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Rebecca "Becky" Simmons; three brothers, Albert, Sam and Woodrow; four sisters, Martha, Flora, Zella and Bertha; 7 grandchildren; and 4 great-grandchildren.

Memorial Services were held Saturday. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Service, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, handled arrangements.

ALBERT E. FREEMAN

Mr. Freeman, 69, died April 14, 2001, in Colorado Springs after a long illness. He was a rancher, among other things. He served in the Army for two years and served during the Korean Conflict.

Mr. Freeman was born May 7, 1931, in Calhan, to Harry and Hazel E. (Bittinger) Freeman Sr., who are deceased. He was married Aug. 2, 1954, to Neola Lawder.

He is survived by his wife; a son and his friend, Richard W. Freeman and Sarah Barr; two daughters, Jacalyn Cummins and Kristeen DeVorss; two sons-in-law, Willis Cummins and Steven DeVorss; a brother, Wayne; two sisters, Lillian Barnes and Doris McAdoo; four grandchildren, Rebecca Luetke, Jenifer DeVorss, Jessica DeVorss and C.J. DeVorss; and a great-grandchild, Harley Luetke. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Harry Jr. and Perry.

Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. today at Calhan Cemetery, Calhan. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, is handling arrangements.

KATHERINE THEARD

Mrs. Theard, 55, died April 10, 2001, at a local hospital. She was a homemaker.

Mrs. Theard was born Jan. 13, 1946, in Wetumka, Okla., to Daniel and Nellie Buns Jones Sr., who are deceased. She was married Dec. 31, 1978, to Eddison Theard.

She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Sandra Sampson and Patsy Coleman Lane; a stepson, Anthony; a stepdaughter, Cynthia; two sisters, Dolores De Graffe of Colorado Springs and Linda Kay Bell of Aurora; and nine grandchildren. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Daniel Jones Jr., Tommy Ray Jones Sr. and Stanley Jones; a sister, Patricia Jean Jones; and a son, Charles Lewis Coleman.

Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Angelus Funeral Directors, 2535 Airport Road, 391-1918. A funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Trinity Missionary Baptist Church, 617 E. Fountain Blvd. Burial will be at Fort Logan National Cemetery, 3698 S. Sheridan Blvd., Denver.

BARBARA ANN CHAPMAN

Mrs. Chapman, 68, died April 13, 2001, at a local care center. She was a homemaker and machine operator for Schneebeck's.

Mrs. Chapman was born July 10, 1932, in St. Louis, to Harry Merrick and Jetta Daws, who are deceased. She was married Oct. 24, 1975, to John William Chapman.

She is survived by her husband; three sons, Michael McIntyre, Mark McIntyre and Matthew McIntyre; a stepson, Raoul; a stepdaughter, Wendy Cloyd; a brother, Howard Merrick; a sister, Carolyn Merrick; 10 nieces and nephews; 11 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Shrine of Remembrance "America the Beautiful" Chapel of Roses, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597. Burial will be at Shrine of Remembrance Rose Garden III.

ROSENDO G. "ROY" SABALA

Mr. Sabala, 87, died April 14, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was retired.

Mr. Sabala was born March 1, 1914, in Mexico City, to Jose and Otilia (Godinez) Sabala, who are deceased. He was married Oct. 17, 1936, to Sophia Morin.

He is survived by his wife; a son, Joe; three daughters, Lupe Torrez, Frances Ballesteros and Catalina Ruiz; two sons-in-law, Manuel Torrez and Teodoro Ruiz; a daughter-in-law, Rose; a sister, Lucy Gallardo; 14 grandchildren; 34 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by two brothers and three sisters.

Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900. A rosary will be at 6 p.m. today at Swan Law Cascade Chapel. Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, 2715 E. Pikes Peak Ave. Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery, 1005 S. Hancock Ave.

SHELLY MARIE DOYLE

Shelly, 19, died April 13, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She was a dog groomer. She was a graduate of Mesa Ridge High School, one of the Mayors 100 Teens 1999-2000 and a volunteer at various local organizations.

Shelly was born April 7, 1982, in Memphis, Tenn., to Rich and Betty Jane Eables Doyle.

She is survived by her parents; a sister, Brittany Ann, of Colorado Springs; her grandparents, Mary Lucille Eables and Barbara Doyle, both of West Memphis, Ark.; an uncle, Paul Eables, of West Memphis; and three aunts, Patricia Eables of Key West, Fla., Dana Pace of Chicago, Ill., and Tara Chandler of Jupiter, Fla.

A memorial service will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Funeral Home "Chapel of Peace, " 1830 E. Fountain Blvd., 475-8303. Cremation is planned.

FRANCES (EAKIN) KRETSCHMAR

Mrs. Kretschmar, 84, died April 12, 2001, in Colorado Springs. She was a vocalist and homemaker.

Mrs. Kretschmar was born April 1, 1917, in Jackson, Miss., to Wilbur and Elizabeth (Mayes) Eakin, who are deceased. She was married in Oct. 1962, to Malcolm S. Kretschmar, who is deceased.

She is survived by a daughter, Lamar Trant of Pueblo.

Private family memorial services have been held. Shrine of Remembrance Funeral Home, 1730 E. Fountain Blvd., 634-1597, is handling arrangements.

WILLIAM B. BURNS

Mr. Burns, 78, died April 11, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He attended Ohio University and worked in lumber sales. He also served in the Navy during World War II.

Mr. Burns was born May 8, 1922, in Grantsville, W.Va., to A.G. and Nora (Bower) Burns, who are deceased. He was married Aug. 17, 1974, to Joan Rector.

He is survived by his wife; three daughters, Penney, Tracey and Ginger; five sons, Todd, Mark, Joe, Mike and Patrick; a sister, Mary Elliot; a brother-in-law, Doyle Elliot; and six grandchildren.

Services will be held in Grantsville. Burial will be at Bethlehem Cemetery, Grantsville. Cappadona's Alternative Funeral Service, 3407 N. El Paso St., 520-1817, is handling arrangements.

PAMELA JEAN GALIANO

Mrs. Galiano, 37, a Colorado Springs resident, died March 24, 2001, in Ogallala, Neb. of an automobile accident. She was a proof reader, School District 11 aide, lunchroom attendant, crossing guard and homemaker.

Mrs. Galiano was born July 10, 1963, in Portland, Ore., to James H. and Sylvia L. (Buell) Bisel. She was married March 3, 1984, to Dean Galiano.

She is survived by her husband; two sons, Kolin and Kieran; a daughter, Kelsey; her parents; a brother James "Jimmy" Bisel; and four sisters, Cheryl, Gloria, Gwen and Karin.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900. Services will be at 4 p.m. Thursday at Springs Community Church, 7290 Lexington Drive. Inurnment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Pam Galiano Memorial Fund in care of Security Services Federal Credit Union, 1485 Kelly Johnson Blvd., Colorado Springs 80920.

JAMES ROBERT SCHMITZ

Mr. Schmitz, 39, died March 15, 2001, in Colorado Springs. He was a maintenance man.

Mr. Schmitz was born Sept. 8, 1961, in Colorado Springs, to James C. and Eleanor F. Schmitz. His father is deceased.

He is survived by his mother; four sisters, Jean Hawk, Patty Songer, Sally Cotner and Tammy McDonald; and numerous nephews and nieces.

A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Circle of Love Bible Church, 1757 S. Eight St., Building E. Swan Law Funeral Directors, 501 N. Cascade Ave., 471-9900, has handled arrangements.
