LORRANE RITA TRUDEAU (Nee GOSSELIN, LESACK) With family by her side, Lorraine passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 17, 2004. Lorraine leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Sharon Allard (Raymond), David (Randa), Perry and Paul; her grandchildren
, Aftan, Aesia, Millanne, Shaleene, Alayna, Brett, Chrisy, Brandy, Jordyn, D.J., Kelsie, Rebecca, Elizabeth and her great-grandson Wesley; as well as numerous relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Cecile and Dan; her sister Teresa Smith and grandson Morgan Trudeau. Lorraine grew up in St. Boniface and was a devoted wife and mother. For any occasion Lorraine, like her mother, enjoyed getting all dressed up and attracted attention with her selection of designer jewellery. Lorraine's love for her children was unconditional and she will be greatly missed by all those who knew her. The family wishes to thank all the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for their care and compassion. CLARENCE WILLIAM VINCENT 1927 - 2004 Clarence passed away quietly and peacefully with his loving family by his side. Clarence was born
in Mather, MB, as the oldest son of four children. He spent his youth in that community and grew up helping out on the family farm. As a young adult he moved to Winnipeg and studied at the University of Manitoba, completing his Bachelor of Agriculture in 1952. After graduating he enjoyed a long and varied career in agriculture - primarily with the Manitoba Government - ending his career as the General Manager of the Manitoba Milk Marketing Board. During those years he raised his own family in Windsor Park and lived on Bittersweet Bay for 31 years. The family can remember many happy times during those years. His love of agriculture and farming was furthered by the purchase of a small hobby farm at Salt Lake. The farm doubled as a cottage and fitted Clarence perfectly. He spent many hours there in the company of his family and friends. He was a man whom many loved to be around because of his witty conversation, his infectious smile, and his kind heart. He never looked more comfortable than when he was cupping his hands to light a cigar off a tractor fender, before heading to do some fieldwork. Unfortunately, and suddenly, he suffered a serious stroke in 1986, which left him paralysed on the right side and unable to continue working. Through his indomitable spirit and the dedication of his loving wife, Lois, Clarence's life continued to flourish in White Rock, B.C. where they retired to milder climates. On his scooter, Clarence became an infamous character in White Rock; moving up and down the hills and in and out of the malls. Clarence, almost to his last day, greeted everyone he met with a sincere and easy smile that made you feel you had known him for a lifetime. Dad was a loving father and is survived by his wife Lois Elaine Vincent (nee Heapy); his three children, Faye Harden Meech (Dennis), David (Sandra), Lee Meagher (Pat) and his twelve grandchildren, Travis, Matt, Regan, Kyle, Derek, Jordan, Blair, Margot, George, Connor, James and Rae. Clarence spent the last year at the Winnipeg Convalescent Home. The family wishes to thank Brenda and the many staff for their kindness and care. MURIEL DOREEN WARREN 1929 - 2004 Muriel Doreen Warren of Calgary, formerly of Winnipeg, MB, passed away at the Rosedale Hospice in Calgary, on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at the age of 75 years. Muriel was born
in Portage la Prairie, MB, and grew up in the Winnipeg area. In Winnipeg she was an active bowler at the Fort Garry Bowling Alley. Muriel was also an active member with the Fort Garry United Church and the Church's Women's Group U.C.W. Unit 6. She is survived by her son Randall Warren; and a granddaughter Jessica Warren. She is also survived by her sister Mabel Palmer and numerous extended family and friends. Muriel was predeceased by her husband, John of 51 years, a brother, Thomas; and four sisters, Margaret, Caroline, Doris, and Alice. FATHER CHRISTOPHER JULIAN ZAJAC Fr. Christopher Julian Zajac, OSBM died on October 9, 2004 in Vancouver, at the age of 66. He was born
on January 4, 1938, in Montreal, QC, to parents Mykola Zajac and Janina Robaszewska. After a brief teaching career, he entered the Basilian Novitiate at Mundare, AB, on January 13, 1961. After studying philosophy and theology, at St. Paul's University, Ottawa, he made his solemn profession of perpetual vows on January 26, 1967. He was ordained a priest, on June 15, 1969 and served as parish priest and assistant at the parishes of St. Mary in Vancouver (1969-1972; 2004), St. Basil in Edmonton (1972-1979; 1988-1996), St. Nicholas (1979-1982; 1996-2004) and St. Basil (1982-1988) in Winnipeg and as a consultor of the Basilian Order in Canada, from 1979-1982. Fr. Chris continued to teach young people in parishes and at summer camps in Quebec and Alberta. During his 35 years of priestly service, he served as chaplain to the Ukrainian Catholic Women's League, parish men's clubs, the Knights of Columbus and the Apostleship of Prayer. Fr. Christopher was a very gifted person, well read, creative, a writer of poetry and of many articles, spiritual talks and sermons. In particular, he was a regular contributor to the Basilian Order's English-language 'Beacon' magazine. He also possessed a pleasant sense of humour. He was very dedicated to his priestly service, especially in ministering to the sick. He is survived by his sister Irene Yaremowich of Ottawa, ON, his brother Romeo (Mary) of Montreal, many nieces and nephews, and the members of the Basilian Order. He was predeceased by his parents, Nicholas and Janina; and his sister Alice. Funeral services took place on October 13, at St. Mary's in Vancouver and October 14-15, at St. Basil's in Edmonton. Interment followed at Sts. Peter & Paul Ukrainian Catholic Church Cemetery, in Mundare, AB. A memorial Divine Liturgy was celebrated on Saturday, October 16, at St. Nicholas Church, Winnipeg. KIAN MacCALEB ARMSTRONG It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our son, grandson, great-grandson, nephew and cousin, Kian MacCaleb Armstrong on October 17, 2004 at the Women's Hospital in Winnipeg, MB. MIROSLAWA BARANOWSKI Peacefully on October 19, 2004, Miroslawa passed away at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 81 years. Miroslawa is survived by daughter Lucy; sons, William (Donna), Bill, Joseph (Mary) and Raymond; grandchildren, Tommy, Joanne (Frank), Richard, Kimberley (Gregorio), Christopher, Eric, Michelle; great-grandchildren, Isabella and Victor; sister Alfrida; brother Leonard and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Jan in 1975 and her parents Jan and Marcelina; brother Alex and sister Wanda. Miroslawa was born
in Danilowka, Wolyn, Poland on January 6, 1923. She came to Canada in 1964 with her family. She worked at the Fort Garry Hotel for many years. After retirement she spent time with her family. JEAN DORIS BENNETT Jean passed away on October 19, 2004 after a brief stay at the St. Boniface Hospital from a stroke. Jean's husband Jack predeceased her in 1998. Jean's sisters, Stella Randall and Mary Freeman; brother Mac Kitchur; and brothers-in-law, Walter Randall, Siggy Freeman, Lawrence Bennett and Frank Bennett also predeceased her. Surviving Jean are her two sons, Doug (Gerry) and their children, Mike and Crystal; Rod (Barb) and their children, Phil and Elliott; sisters-in-law, Edna Kitchur, Marg Bennett, Terry Myers, Mildred and Gordon McKinnon; and numerous nieces and nephews. Jean and Jack owned Bennett Industrial Building Services for over 35 years and was a big part of their lives. Jean enjoyed all the special dinners with her family and the occasional gambling trips with her family and friends. She will be sadly missed by her family and her friends. The family would like to thank the paramedics that brought Jean to the St. Boniface Hospital, the St. Boniface Emergency Staff, and the nurses and doctors on the Fifth Floor for giving your attention to Jean in her need. A special thanks also goes out to Gord Anderson who enriched her last remaining years. ADELINE BODNAR (nee MYLYMUK) April 4, 1918 - October 17, 2004 Suddenly on Sunday, October 17, 2004, at her home, with her daughter at her side, Adeline gently slipped away. Left to cherish her beloved memory are son Russ Bodnar and his children, Kristin (Brad and Pacey) Barkley, Jordan Bodnar and their mother Dianne Bodnar, son Doug (Phyllis) Bodnar and their children, Andrea (son Devin) Huber, Jessica (Todd, Joseph and Trent) Marien, all of Saskatoon; daughter and devoted caregiver Lorraine (favourite son-in-law Jim) Martin of Toronto; also survived by sisters, Francis (Nane) Thorsteinson, Elsie Gillespie, Janet Myles of Toronto and numerous nieces and nephews. Adeline was born, raised and educated in Winnipeg. A gifted dressmaker, she was employed until retirement at Dressland on Main Street. Though faced with many hardships in her life, Adeline maintained a quiet sense of grace and dignity, a quick wit and immense kindness. The family extends their deepest appreciation to Dr. D. Haligowski for his many years of wonderful care. Dr. Maurice Shnider for his kindness and support. Sincere thank you to Adeline's home care family, Girlene, Carrie, Pearl and Marjhana. Our heartfelt gratitude is extended to the First Responders Paramedic Team for their tremendous efforts and their most gracious compassion. In accordance with our mother's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment is scheduled. We feel privileged to have had such a wonderful mother.

LYNNE ELLEN BUCHANAN 1948 - 2004 It is with great sadness that her family announces the passing of Lynne Ellen Buchanan at the St. Boniface Hospital on Sunday, October 17, 2004. Lynne was predeceased by her parents, James Stanley Buchanan and Jennie Buchanan (nee Simkin). She is survived by her brothers, Neil (Eileen Shorten) of Kennett Square, PA, and Jay (Betty Trevenen) of Winnipeg; nieces, Kelley (PA) and Meaghan (Little Rock, AR); nephews Matt (PA) and Stefan (Calgary, AB); aunt Beth Simkin; and numerous cousins. Born in Columbia, South America, Lynne spent her formative years in Winnipeg, graduating from Grant Park High School. After earning a B.A. (English) from the University of Manitoba, she travelled extensively in Europe, living in London, England, while studying at the School of Fine Arts, and in Bergen, Norway, where she apprenticed as a weaver. Upon her return to Winnipeg, Lynne was the creative force behind, and an active partner in, Swallows, a restaurant in Osborne Village which was described as an "ahead-of-its-time combination of quality and casual sophistication" (Marion Warhaft). Later, Lynne lived in Santa Fe, New Mexico, London, England, and Toronto, before returning to Winnipeg in the early 1990s. Lynne was a woman of great talent and creativity who led a full and rich life. She will be sorely missed by those who knew her. The family wishes to thank the nurses and doctors of the ICU units at the St. Boniface and Grace Hospitals for their compassionate care. In accordance with Lynne's wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no formal service. Friends are asked to call 774-3397 regarding a private celebration of Lynne's life on Saturday, October 23, 2004. Flowers are gratefully declined. MARGARETTE CLARKE 1910 - 2004 Margarette passed away on Sunday, October 17, 2004 at Concordia Place. She was predeceased by her parents, Amalia and Arnold Weiss; sisters, Edith, Alice, Beatrice, Dora, Mable, Florence; and brothers, Wilfred, Albert and Lloyd. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Joy (Stan); son Cliff (Herma), Jim (Dorothy); her very special daughter Vera; grandchildren, Lillian (Jim), Irene (Frank), Richard (Melanie), Sharon (Brian), Darrel (Cindy), Shane (Shelly), Lenora (Steve), Lance (Shona), Clarence (Kim) (Clarence predeceased her in July 2002); great-grandchildren, Jeff, Laura, David, Sean, Tyler, Christopher, Victoria, Tanya, Lauren, Jordan, Kaleisha, Lyndon, Taylor, Joshua, Courtney, Jorden, Taylor. and raised in Lac du Bonnet to Amalia and Arnold Weiss. She was baptized and confirmed in St. Johns Anglican Church and attended the village school. She worked and help on the family farm until her marriage to her first husband, Walter Rossin. They left for Alberta, raised a family and returned to Manitoba 17 years later. She worked as a cook in Pine Falls Restaurant, a dietician at Deer Lodge Hospital and as an independent housekeeper for a number of years. She lost her oldest son Clarence in 1953 and her first husband in 1958. In 1960, she married her second husband, George Clarke at St. Saviors Church and lived a fully and happy life in the East and North Kildonan areas. They travelled, curled, bowled, did volunteer work and they were never too busy to lend a helping hand to their family and friends. Her second husband predeceased her in 1998. Service will be held on Saturday, October 23 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Michael's and All Angels Anglican Church, 300 Hugo St. North at Mulvey Avenue, with a reception to follow. BRIDGET COUTURE October 8, 1926 - October 16, 2004 Peacefully on October 16 with her loving and devoted family at her bedside, Bridget passed away at the age of 78. Bridget is survived by her loving husband of 59 years Roland; five children, daughters, Judy Swanky (Al), Janet Joyce (Pat); sons, Tom, Rod (Lucy), Ted (Dianne); grandchildren, Lorie and Tammy Swanky, Matthew Couture, Kaitlin and Molly Couture; stepgrandchildren, Carolyn and Andrew; great-grandchildren, Ladonna and Levi Swanky; stepgreat-grandchildren, Jamie, Colin, Erik and Kathleen. Her sister Mary, Kelty, Scotland, also survives Bridget. Bridget was born, October 8, 1926 in Kelty Fifeshire, Scotland, daughter of Thomas and Annie Rowley. Bridget came to Canada as a war bride in 1946 where she raised five children with her husband Roland. They lived in various communities in Manitoba and Northern Ontario before finally settling in Winnipeg, where they have resided since 1962. Bridget's enduring sense of humour and compassion encompassed all aspects of her life. Mom found pleasure in cooking, baking, sewing and tending to her award-winning gardens. Mom's greatest pleasures were spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Mom loved to joke and laugh and many of our family gatherings were spent around a card table where Mom's heartwarming laugh could be heard. Mom was a very spiritual woman whose acute sense of understanding, compassion and forgiving nature touched many lives. All of her children were very close to her and considered her to be their best friend. The family would like to thank Drs. Ali Khan, Tony Battad and the Victoria General Hospital 4th floor nursing staff (especially Gail) for the loving care they provided to Mom during her short stay. MARIE BLANCHE DANEAULT February 28, 1905 - October 16, 2004 Born in Saint Francois Xavier, MB, Marie Blanche was the daughter of Emile Daneault and Marguerite Anne Falcon. She was predeceased by sisters, Annette and Melanie; and brothers, Lionel, Alcide and Duncan. Marie Blanche enjoyed a long, successful career as a school teacher in both Manitoba and British Columbia. She retired from Winnipeg School Division No. 1 in 1970. She was an accomplished weaver and painter and her works grace the homes of many of her friends and extended family. She loved to travel, enjoyed fine dining and was an avid reader who still kept up with current events until her demise at Centre Tache. She will be remembered as a gracious, elegant lady who was proud of her heritage and devoted to her family. Funeral service will take place Saturday, October 23, 2004 at 1:00 p.m. at Saint Mary's Cathedral, 353 St. Mary Ave., Winnipeg, Celebrant, Fr. Michael Koryluk.
