MARY NICKOLIS ISRAEL (nee FORREST) Mary passed away peacefully at Mt. Tolmie Hospital on September 14, 2004 at the age of 93. She was predeceased by her husband Vern; her parents, Jean and Simon; brothers, Sam (her twin), Bob, John, Bill and her sister Margaret. She will be sadly missed by her daughter Ellen (Ben); son Ray; grandchildren, Susan (friend Dave), Donna (Errol), Dawn (Terry), Andrew, Kristi (Mike) and great-grandchildren, Tate, Drew, Amanda and Jakob. She is survived by her sisters, Nona (Chuck), Edith and Nancy, and many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. Mary was born
March 7, 1911 in Fairlight, SK, the eldest of 10 children. She spent most of her young days on the family farm in Niverville, MB. In 1936 she married Vern Israel and they farmed successfully for many years in Rosser, MB. Vern and Mary moved to Winnipeg where Mary made many cherished and life long friends. Mary moved to Victoria in 1997. Mary's greatest passions were cooking and baking. Nothing pleased her more than entertaining family and friends around a dinner table, followed by a friendly (and often competitive) game of cards. Friends were extremely important to her. She took great delight in remembering all the important dates in their lives, and always looked forward to their phone calls, letters and cards. The family would like to pay tribute to all those in the health care system who cared for Mom so well. Thanks to Dr. James, Madeline Shorthill and the outstanding team at Mt. Tolmie Hospital, and on behalf of Mary a special thanks to Maureen, Prem, Lynne and Tina. Funeral service for Mary will be held at Sands of West Shore Funeral Chapel, 317 Goldstream Ave., Victoria, BC at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, September 21. Interment to follow at Hatley Memorial Gardens. VELMA (DOLLY) O. McINTOSH Dolly passed away on Monday, September 13, 2004 at her residence, Golden West Centennial Lodge, after a lengthy illness. She is survived by her son Ronald McIntosh; and her granddaughters, Bonnie, Kathleen, Cheryl and Jill, all of British Columbia. Dolly was predeceased by her husband Thomas H. McIntosh in 1999. Dolly was born
on May 12, 1921. She and Tom lived most of their 52 years of married life in their home on Roblin Boulevard in Charleswood, later moving to an apartment on Westwood Drive. Dolly retired after working for Eaton's for 19 years. Before ill health set in, Tom and Dolly used to travel often to British Columbia to visit their granddaughters and extended family. Dolly was an outgoing and very social person who loved nothing better than coffee and a chat with friends. She retained her social graces even in the throes of her last illness when much of her memory had faded. There will be a graveside service on Saturday, September 18 at 11:00 a.m. at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Alzheimer's Society, 10-120 Donald St., Winnipeg, MB R3C 4G2 would be appreciated. EVELYN MAE ISOBEL McNEILL (nee DOWLER) Evelyn (Girlie) passed quietly in her sleep at Victoria General Hospital on September 12, 2004 following a brief illness. Mother was born
on June 20, 1917 and raised in Winnipeg. Her family moved to Marquette during the depression where she worked as Post Mistress in Dowler's General Store. She joined the R.C.A.F. in 1943 and was stationed at No. 6 Repair Depot in Trenton, ON. Following her release from service in 1946 she moved to Vancouver for a brief period. She married Bill McNeill in 1961. They lived in Portage la Prairie and Virden, retiring to Winnipeg in the early 1970s. She was a member of the R.C.A.F. WD's Association, Six Ardee (1940 - 1945) Association R.C.A.F. and a life member of the Royal Canadian Legion. She loved her flower gardens and was a member of the Winnipeg Horticultural Society and the Manitoba Gladiola Association. Her dog and best friend Mickey was her constant companion. They spent many hours taking long walks along the river bank. Mother was predeceased by her parents, Helen (1962) and Ernest (1970) Dowler and her husband Bill in 1991. She is survived by her brother Ken (Trudy) Dowler; three stepchildren, Janice (Denis) Snaith, Pat Kinsley (Glenn Griffiths) and Fred (Linda) McNeill; grandchildren, Trevor (Cheryl) McDonald, Dawna (Keith) Bennell, Deneil Snaith, Coleen Jones, Sean (Shawna) Kinsley, Chad (Liane) Kinsley and Erika McNeill; and 18 great-grandchildren. ROBERT CARL OTTER Born February 24, 1928 in Gimli, MB; passed away peacefully on September 14, 2004 surrounded by his loving family at Peace Arch District Hospital in White Rock. DOROTHY J. PARK (DOWSON) It is with deep sorrow we announce the passing on September 15, 2004 of a dear wife and mother at the Selkirk General Hospital after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Aberdeen, Scotland in 1924, Dorothy came to Canada as a British war bride and settled in Moose Jaw, SK. She is mourned by her husband and best friend Albert (Al) of 58 years, and sons, Don (Judi) and Ken (Jo-Ann) of Winnipeg. She is survived by her special niece, Dorothy Jean of Aberdeen; nephew Douglas and family of Indiana; brother-in-law Herb (Lillian) of Calgary and niece Cathie of Sooke, BC. Also sadly missed by her faithful little poodle Julie. She was predeceased by her parents, Harry and Joan Dowson; sister Betty; brother-in-law Douglas Molyneux and nephew Greg Park. Dorothy graduated from Mile End High School and attended the Aberdeen Girls Grammar School earlier. She was employed at the Bank of Scotland and as well in her father's store, Harry Dowson Clothier. She joined the British ATS war service, stationed at West Hallam, Derbyshire, England during the Second World War. Moving to Moose Jaw in 1946 and while raising her two sons, she became a member of the Kinette Club there, making many lifelong friends. Later, Dorothy moved to Lloydminster, Winnipeg, and finally to Selkirk. She enjoyed her duplicate bridge card friendships with those she met, enjoying the game she loved so much. She enjoyed travel, reading, world events and had a competitive spirit when it came to parlor games. Thanks is extended to Drs. Pat Harris, Demsis, and Davidson, and to the many faithful nurses and support staff for their kindness and care during the last 11 years. A special thanks to Rev. Christine Bridget for being her guiding light. At her request, a private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers any donations may be sent to the Humane Society or CancerCare of Winnipeg. JOSEPH RZESZUTEK On September 15, 2004 after a brief illness, Joseph Rzeszutek passed away peacefully surrounded by his children, at the Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 81. He leaves to mourn his three children: daughter Helen Rzeszutek (Brent Wallberg) of Winnipeg, her sons, Michael and Matthew Cunningham; daughter Sophie Hendry (Wes) of Calgary and sons, Sean Gellatly, Christopher Hendry and daughter Angela Hendry; and son Ed Rzeszutek (Linda) of Winnipeg and their children, Paul Rezutek (Lisa), Andrew, Jennifer and Katherine Rzeszutek. Joseph is survived by his brother Walter Rzeszutek (Stephanie) of Winnipeg and their seven children and families; and two sisters, Josephine and Helen in Poland. He was predeceased by his wife Stella in 1990 and a brother Stanley one month ago, also from Poland. Born in Poland on February 24, 1923, Joseph spent the war years in Germany where he met and married Stella. He immigrated to Canada in 1948 and worked on a farm near Tufnell, SK until he saved enough money to bring his wife and son to Canada in 1950. The family moved briefly to Winnipeg and then spent seven years on a farm in Julius, MB. In 1959 they returned to Winnipeg where Joseph worked for the University of Manitoba in the Department of Oral Biology as an animal attendant until his retirement in 1988. Family, faith and home were the cornerstones of Grandpa Joe's life. We owe him a debt of gratitude for his enormous generosity and help. Dad could fix almost anything and enjoyed keeping his home in good condition. He loved growing wonderful apple trees, vegetables and gardening, in general. He taught us by example, to appreciate nature's constant renewal of life. We thank God for giving us such a wonderful Dad. His last days were a profoundly moving experience and a final gift to us. Our family is grateful to Father Antoni, Father McCloskey and Father Dado for their spiritual help during Grandpa's illness. A very special thanks to Dad's family doctor, Dr. Szajkowski, and a special thanks to Dr. Patel and Dr. Zaki for treating our Dad and helping us to understand what he was battling. We are thankful for the new friends we have made at the Seven Oaks Hospital. Thank-you Olive, for your inspiration, your kindness and your love. We won't forget you. Words can't express the wonderful care, compassion and support our Dad and family received from the staff on the fifth floor in U1 and U2. We now know that angels do exist. DENNIS WISHANSKI It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our husband and father on September 15, 2004 after a year long battle with cancer. Dennis will be deeply missed by his wife Christine and his children, Leah, Steven and Evan. He will also be greatly missed by his brother Ken, Ken's wife Elly, his Aunt Molly and many other relatives and friends. Dennis was predeceased by his mother Stephanie and his father Peter. Dennis was born
in Winnipeg on August 14, 1947 and grew up in the north end. After graduating from St. John's High School he entered the Business Administration program at Red River College and graduated among the top in his class. He began his working life at the Royal Bank in 1971 and was with them for 23 years. In 1995 he and his wife started their own graphic design business - Drawing Board Designs. In 1982 Dennis married the love of his life Christine and four years later became a father. His children were everything to him and he took much pride in teaching them life's lessons whether they wanted to hear them or not. He became involved as a basketball coach at Voyageur and Ness Schools, was an instructor for Junior Achievement, volunteered in math classes, was a lecturer and judge for the entrepreneurship practicum at Red River College, and was active in many other volunteer activities. Dennis' other passion was politics and was elected as a trustee to the St. James Assiniboia School Division in 1998. He was also a candidate for the Progressive Conservative Party in the 2003 provincial election. Dennis was a strong, caring and passionate man who always loved a good argument (discussion). He has accomplished much in his lifetime and will be greatly missed. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and oncology social workers at the Health Sciences Centre and Seven Oaks Hospital for their caring support. A celebration of Dennis' life will be held at The Messiah Lutheran Church, 400 Rouge Rd., September 20 at 11:00 a.m. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

BONNIE YULE (STEVELY) Suddenly on September 10, 2004 after a long battle with cancer, Bonnie passed away. She leaves to mourn her passing, brother Malcolm (Mary Jane), sister Heather, her four children, Tom, Gerry, Claudia and Kerri, six grandchildren, several nieces, nephews and cousins. Bonnie was predeceased by her father James, mother Claudia, brother-in-law Gerry. Bonnie was born
in 1951, the youngest of three children and grew up in Elmwood where she attended school. On leaving school she married and began her career as Mom to her four children. During that time Bonnie worked at Continental Can and Jones Pac. At her time of passing she was employed at W.R.H.A. as a home worker. She enjoyed helping her clients and made friends with both her "people" as well as coworkers. In her last years Bonnie lived in the North End with her sister Heather and youngest daughter Kerri. October would have seen her sharing her birthday with her youngest grandbaby Tia. Bonnie made friends easily, enjoyed life, loved and was loved by a wide circle of people with whom she shared her life. We will miss her sense of humour, our little midnight talks, the way she made Halloween a holiday. We all knew how much she loved us, and hope she knew we loved and cared for her. We will continue to love and cherish the memory of her in our hearts always. Memorial service will be at Cropo Funeral Home, 1442 Main St. Winnipeg, Saturday, September 18 at 1:00 p.m.

SANDRA ANNE ALLERTON It is with deep sadness, we announce the peaceful passing of Sandra Anne Allerton on September 16, 2004, aged 68 years old, after a courageous battle with cancer. Sandra will be lovingly remembered by her husband Don of 44 years. Her sons and daughter-in-laws, Peter (Tracey), Chris (Victoria) and Andrew (Dana) will cherish their beautiful memories of Mom. Loving grandma of Trevor, Kyra, and Lachlan. She is also remembered by her sisters, Joyce (George) Van Wynsberghe of Pinawa and Sheila Nikiforuk of Edmonton and their families. Sandra was born
on October 29, 1935, in Winnipeg to Thomas and Isabel Summerell. She went to various schools across Canada and graduated from St. John's High School. Sandra began a career as an X-ray Technician at the Winnipeg Municipal Hospital until she stayed home to raise her family. Once her children began school she became a Teacher's Assistant with Morse Place Jr. High School until her retirement. On September 12, 1960, she and Don married and began their wonderful life together. Her boys were the joy of her life. She was their biggest fan and supported them in their sporting activities, education and careers. With open and loving arms she welcomed her daughter-in-laws to the Allerton family and enjoyed her "girl talks." Mom's face lit up whenever she saw her grandchildren and never did she leave them without tons of hugs and kisses and little treats. There were many stitches of love in the blankets and sweaters she created for her little ones. Mom was also overjoyed to hear the news that she would be a grandma again in the spring. We know she'll be watching over all her grandchildren from above and keeping them safe. For over 40 years Sandra treasured spending time with her family at their West Hawk Lake cottage. She and Don made many wonderful lifelong friends from the lake. She was an avid reader and enjoyed crossword puzzles, sewing, knitting, baking and playing cards. Sandra and Don loved to travel and it was one of their favourite activities together. We would like to express our heartfelt appreciation to the staff of the Palliative Care unit of St. Boniface Hospital for their compassionate care of Mom and their support for us as a family. Thank you to Dr. Bergen, Dr. Cook and the staff at CancerCare Manitoba. Our family is also grateful for the tremendous support received from our families, friends and coworkers during this time, we are truly blessed. ALAN RAYDON BELL 1923 - 2004 Peacefully, after a long illness, with his family at his side, Alan passed away on September 17, 2004 at the Park Manor Personal Care Home, at the age of 80. Alan was predeceased by his beloved wife Ethel in 1991. He is survived by his son Alan (Tracy), and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews in Canada, Great Britain and Australia. Alan was born
and raised in London, England. He had served in the Home Guard and the R.A.F. (as a Navigator/Bomber) and later moved to Dundee, Scotland where he met and married Ethel. He joined the Dundee Police force, and showed a keen interest in crime scene investigation. Shortly after Alan Jr. was born, the Bells immigrated to Canada and Alan again chose being a Police Officer, with The City of Winnipeg Police. His interest in Criminology eventually came to fruition when he became head of The Winnipeg Police Identification Unit. Proud of his Scottish heritage, Alan has been involved in many Scottish organizations. He was one of the founders of The Transcona Boy Scout Pipeband (later City of Transcona Pipeband) and was also involved with The United Scottish Organization and the Sons of Scotland. Dad really enjoyed camping and fishing, and going to ANYTHING Scottish. In his retirement years, he liked going to the Malls, walking, and getting together with his old cronies from the police. Alan and Tracy would like to thank all of the staff of Park Manor for their caring and kindness over the past two years, they have been a comfort to both my Dad and ourselves. She is survived by cousin Stella Diaczun and her family cousin Jane Grammatico (Joseph) and their two children, Mark and Stephanie; cousin Mary and Mike Galas, cousin Barbara Diaczun, cousin Peter Muzia all of New York; cousins, Mary Muzia and John Muzia of East St. Paul; as well as cousins in Poland and Ukraine and her constant companion Buck Jones. in Gnadenthal, MB on May 23, 1932. Mom is survived by her children, Floyd (Dorothy) of Grunthal, Wayne of Winnipeg, Elaine (Ron Friesen) of Grunthal and Craig of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Jeff, Kristen (Johnnie Unrau), Vanessa, Todd, Sherilyn and Daniel. She is also survived by her mother Nettie Penner; and sisters, Mary (Albert Driedger) and Helen all of Grunthal. She was predeceased by her loving husband Harry in 1994 and her father Peter Penner. JOHN BODNAR Peacefully, on Wednesday, September 15, 2004 at the Dr. Gendreau Memorial Personal Care Home in Ste. Rose du Lac, Mr. John Bodnar passed away at the age of 86 years. John leaves to mourn his passing and cherish many fond memories, his beloved wife Anna of Rorketon; his son Metro Bodnar and wife Ida of Winnipeg; his granddaughters, Amanda and Melissa Bodnar of Winnipeg; his sister Mary Pich of Dauphin; his brother Mike Bodnar of Ste. Rose du Lac; along with numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Prayers will be offered on Sunday, September 19, at 7:00 p.m. from the Ste. Rose Memorial Chapel. Funeral service will be held on Monday, September 20 at 10:00 a.m. from St. Mary's Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Rorketon, MB. Rt. Rev. MAURICE BOGACH On September 11, 2004, Maurice Bogach, aged 90, passed away at the Sharon Home. He leaves behind his beloved wife Goldie; dear daughters, Mindy and Evy; son-in-law Michael; grandson Jonathan; and brother Abe Bogach; and sister Molly Patlik of Toronto. Maurice was a devoted family man with a strong sense of values and morals. He was a lover of the arts and a strong believer in continuing education. Dad enjoyed spending every Sunday with his family. Everyone who knew him thought highly of his quiet, dignified and friendly manner. He will be sadly missed by all. Many thanks to Rabbi Weitzman and the 4th floor staff of the Sharon Home North.
