JO-ANNE ALLISON (nee HLATKEY) Peacefully on Monday, September 6, 2004, with her family by her side, Jo-Anne Allison lost her battle with cancer. To celebrate that there will be no more suffering are her daughters, Tammy Cowell and Sandy Doering; sister Val Cowell; special friends, June Dupont and Evelyn Allam; as well as extended family and friends. She leaves behind three special grandchildren, Jack, Cole and Amanda. The family would like to thank the nurses at Deer Lodge for their genuine care. JOHN ANGECONEB 1963 - 2004 On September 8, 2004 we come together to honour the life of our brother, uncle and friend John Angeconeb. John is survived by his four sisters, Eliza "Kwiishkwa'oo", Josie "Saagaate", Mary Ann, and Alice Angeconeb along with numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. His brothers, Charlie, Simon, James, Rex and his father Charlie and mother Carrie predeceased him. John was born
in Red Lake, ON on June 24, 1963. John was from Trout Lake where he lived and worked. In the past, he also lived in Winnipeg, Dryden and Kenora. The Namegosipiiw-Anishinaabe community as well as all who knew him, recognized his gentle spirit, kindness towards others and love for his family members and friends. He will be sorely missed by all. John worked on Trout Lake where he could be seen fishing in Long Channel with his delighted guests. John touched many lives and is in the hearts of all those he encountered. Funeral and interment takes place in Red Lake at the Friendship Centre on Wednesday, September 8 at 2:00 p.m.

DONALD ARTHUR CALLANDER Peacefully on Monday, September 6, 2004 at his home, Donald Arthur Callander, son of the late Mae and Jock Callander, aged 70 years, beloved husband, father, brother and Poppa. Don will be lovingly remembered by his wife Mary; children, Nan Fewchuk (Rodney), Sue Cerasani (Guido), John Callander; Don's "precious angels" grandchildren, Jenea, Amy, Eason and Aidan; as well as his siblings, Len Callander (Joy), Audrey Pyne, Ron Callander (Mona), Bob Callander (Doreen), Bonnie Nichols (Ken); stepmother Irene Callander (George); brother-in-law Rob Callander (Joanne); along with many family members and friends. Don was born
January 8, 1934 in Neudorf, SK. After the untimely death of his mother, he and his siblings were raised in The Orange Home of Indian Head, SK. Don joined the RCMP in 1954 and was stationed in Lac Du Bonnet for three years. In 1958 he married Diane Robertson and settled in Selkirk to raise his family. A few years later he answered his artistic calling and became an award-winning designer employed by Robertson's Furniture Store in Selkirk. Several years later, Don was hired as design manager for the Hudson's Bay Company. In 1976 he married his wife Mary and together they opened Don Callander Interiors where they oversaw a successful design business until Don's unfortunate accident in 1979. Don continued to pursue his love of painting and cooking and welcomed all into his home on Eveline with his warm, generous heart. He treasured family gatherings. He was a strong-willed person who challenged and overcame life's greatest hardships. As Gordon Sinclair wrote in his 1993 Winnipeg Free Press article, Don was "disabled in body, strong in spirit". Don's spirit will live on through his paintings, numerous cards and notes with his inspirational words and hopeful outlook on life. Artist, poet, teacher, dreamer, friend and lover of life...that was Poppa Don. The family is grateful for the kindness and compassion Don received from the Canadian Paraplegic Association, his orderlies and nurses throughout the years, St. Boniface Hospital for all their care in the past, and to his special friends whose company he so enjoyed. Also, special thanks to Dr. Arthur Blank. A celebration of Don's life will be held on Friday, September 10 at 1:00 p.m. at 333 Vaughan St. (amenities floor). LAWRENCE RAYMOND "LARRY" CHEZICK passed away at the Health Sciences Centre on Monday, September 6, 2004 at the age of 70 years, Lawrence Raymond "Larry" Chezick of Winnipeg, MB. Larry was born
in Whitemouth, MB on August 12, 1934, the eldest of four children born
to Eva and Ted Chezick. In 1956, Larry married Lorraine Stapanksy and three children were born
to them, Barbara Ann, Debbie and Wayne. After various jobs Larry settled in to being a driver instructor, a position he held for over 40 years with the St. Vital Driving School. Larry was very outgoing, always on the go and lived life to the fullest. He spent his last few years with his special friend Helen Tomiuk. Larry leaves to mourn his passing his daughter Debbie (Keith) Biles of Glenboro; son Wayne (Faye) Chezick of Parksville, BC; grandchildren, Kurt, Craig, Sarah, Michael, Katie and Levi; special friend Helen Tomiuk of Winnipeg; sister Joan (Henry) Burnett of Winnipeg; brothers, Harvey (Pat) Chezick of Winnipeg, Irvine (Lorraine) Chezick of Selkirk; as well as numerous relatives and friends. KEN DAGORNE Mr. Ken Dagorne of Prince Albert passed away on September 5, 2004 at the age of 73. MARY M. DANCE (nee PERRAULT) Peacefully on Saturday, September 4, 2004, at the Concordia Hospital, at the age of 84 years. Mary was predeceased by her parents Joseph and Marie; her husband of 43 years, Bill; brothers and sisters, Larry, Joe, Raymond, Romeo, Harvey, Yvonne, Terry, Marion and Dora. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Bill (Pat); grandchildren, Corey, Twila (Jeff), Leila (great-grandson Braeden); sister Irene; good friend and coffee partner, Bella; and all her friends at Columbus Villa where she resided for the last 15 years. Mary was always very sociable, meeting friends for coffee everyday, helping within Columbus Villa with activities (bingo, shuffleboard, cards and parties) - any activity she would volunteer her time and participate with great pride. She loved going to hear her favourite band play, and dancing to the tunes. She enjoyed playing bingo and picking berries out at the family cottage at Gull Lake, MB. Many a day was spent at the lake, assisting her in making her tasty perogies. Her grandchildren will always remember sitting in the gazebo at the cottage, playing card games all summer long with her. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the Concordia Hospital for their care, kindness and understanding. OLGA DROHOMERESKI (nee CHREPTYK) Peacefully, on Saturday, September 4, 2004 at the Gimli Community Health Center, Olga Drohomereski, aged 91 years, of Winnipeg Beach, MB. Left to mourn her death is her son Richard (Gail); daughter Eve Anderson; daughter-in-law Ellen Drohomereski; grandchildren, Krystal (Kristjan) Isfeld, Debbie (Brad) Wood, Darlene (Dale) Nelson, Grant (Debby) Anderson, Lyle (Sharon) Anderson; 12 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews. Olga was predeceased by her parents, Elias and Ambrosia; husband Bill (William); son Murray; son-in-law Alex; great-grandson Adam; brothers, Mike, Tony, Steve, and John; sisters, Mary, Anne, Frances, and Natalie. Olga was born
in 1913 in Pleasant Home, MB. She was married to Bill on November 1, 1936. They farmed the Drohomereski homestead at Pleasant Home until 1947 when they moved to Winnipeg Beach, MB. In 1949 Bill and Olga opened up William's Snack Bar. With the closing of the Beach Attractions, Olga's interests took her to working at the Gimli Airport, Winnipeg Beach Drug Store, and the Viking restaurant. Ba Ba enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking and her family. We will remember her love, kindness and generosity. She was deeply loved by her family and friends and will be sadly missed by all. Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held at the Gilbart Funeral Chapel in Gimli on Friday, September 10 at 11:00 a.m. with Mr. Ray Demery officiating.
