DONALDA KIPPEN On Friday, August 27, 2004, at the Victoria General Hospital, Donalda Pearl Kippen (nee Richardson) peacefully passed away at the age of 79 years. Dona was predeceased by her husband Gordon in 1976. She is survived by one daughter and six sons, Leslie (Len) Jackson, Jim (Marilyn) Kippen, Rick (Connie) Kippen, Terry (Beth) Kippen, Robert (Lorette) Kippen, Rod (Michele) Kippen and Darren (Sherry) Kippen. Dona is also survived by her grandchildren, Lorelei (Greg) Johnson, Bryce (Marnie) Jackson, Wanda (Michael) Sime, Doug (Naomi) Kippen, Leianne (Craig) Wood, Leigh Kippen (Kathy), Chris Kippen (Michelle), Richard Kippen (Toni), Jason Kippen, Kyle Kippen, Nikita Kippen and 19 great-grandchildren and counting. Dona is survived by one brother Jim (Josie) Richardson; one sister Dorene (Ross) Smithson and two sisters-in-law, Bessie Heaman, Eileen Kippen. Besides her husband Gordon, Dona is predeceased by one sister Kathleen Carlson; sisters-in-law, Jessie Carroll, Jean Neiles, Vera Kippen and brothers-in-law, Teddie Kippen, Geordie Kippen and numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held from the Trinity Lutheran Church in Starbuck on Tuesday, August 31 at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Ron Vert officiating. Interment will take place in the Elm Creek Cemetery. ISABEL MARGARET MARTIN June 1, 1909 - August 27, 2004 Isabel Martin passed away at the Victoria General Hospital as the result of a stroke. She is survived by her son, Robert Brian, daughter, Barbara Dale Lyons, granddaughters, Heather (Graham Gulden), Atlanta, GA, Christine (Andrew Ross), Toronto, and her beloved great grandson, Jordan Lyons. She is also survived by her sister, Kathleen Hunter, Edmonton, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Thomas and Florence Gallagher, sister, Ethel Francis and brother, Ted Gallagher. Isabel was born
in Ballinamallard, Northern Ireland and emigrated to Canada at the age of 14 to be with her parents and siblings. Her heart, however, always belonged to Ireland and Mum made return visits at the age of 78 and 82 to visit her friend, Maeve Gray, in Carlingford. As a long time resident of Fort Garry, Isabel saw many changes over the last 60 years. She held several administrative positions and had many years with the Manitoba Medical Association and the University of Manitoba. She worked for Drs. Crust and Davidson at the Pembina Medical centre following her "retirement". She was an avid walker until a few years ago. The family would like to thank the nurses and support staff of the Interim Unit at the Misercordia Health Centre and of the 3rd floor at the Victoria Hospital for their care and compassion. Also thank you to Dr. R. Hayward for his care over the years. Cremation has taken place according to Isabel's wishes. A memorial service will be held at Fort Garry United Church at a later date. Notification of date and time will be placed in this newspaper. No flowers please. FRANCESCO (FRANK) MASI With deep sadness, we announce the passing of Francesco (Frank) Masi on Friday, August 27, 2004 at the St. Boniface General Hospital at the age of 71. He is lovingly remembered by his wife of 47 years, Caterina; son Joe Masi (Sandra Simmons); daughters, Mirella (John) St. Jean and Gina (Todd) Rooker and grandsons, Marc and Ryan St. Jean and Nicholas Rooker. Frank is also greatly missed by brother-in-law Ralph (Fiorina) Aiello; father-in-law Giuseppe Aiello and many nephews, nieces, family members and friends. He was predeceased by his parents, Giuseppe and Maria Masi; mother-in-law Gaetania Aiello and sister Rosalia and brother-in-law Cesare Sheba. Frank was born
April 6, 1933 in Amato, Italy. In 1961, he immigrated to Canada with his wife Caterina and three year old son Joe. Over the years, Frank worked as a maintenance mechanic for Perth's Dry Cleaning, Aqua Mechanics, and Canada West Shoes. With the gift of a technical mind, he always had a fix-it plan and the right tool for the job. The family cabin at Beaconia was a perfect example of his imagination and skills and he and Caterina and their family spent many enjoyable summers there. Frank is remembered for his entertaining stories, no-nonsense manner and the way his face lit up when he talked about his grandsons. Special thanks to the doctors, nurses and staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for their care, kindness and understanding. Prayers will be said on Monday, August 30 in Holy Rosary Parish, 510 River Ave. at 7:30 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, August 31 in Holy Rosary Parish at 10:00 a.m. with the Rev. AURORE McARTHUR (nee ASSELIN) 1925 - 2004 Peacefully in her sleep on August 1, 2004 at Sherman Oaks Hospital, Los Angeles, CA. She was predeceased by her parents, Hermas and Marie Louise Asselin. She is survived by her beloved sister Jeanne Kornberger of Winnipeg and her brother Armand Asselin (Maryann) of Canoga Park, CA. Loving aunt to Doreen Lewis (John) of Dublin, CA and Valerie Feuillatre (Herve) of Lorette, MB. In accordance with her wishes her ashes were scattered at sea in Laguna Beach, CA. Her memory will be cherished forever in our hearts.

GEORGE ALLAN McARTHUR Peacefully slipped away at the Concordia Hospital under the compassionate eye of a loving staff on August 26, 2004. He unwillingly surrendered in his fight against his lengthy illness at the age of 78 years. He was predeceased by his Mom and Dad, Beula and Thomas McArthur of Thunder Bay; in-laws Elma and Earl Machan of Dauphin; sister Lois Thompson, sister and brother-in-law Nancy and Ted Birss. Left to mourn is his beloved wife of 58 years, Eunice; his children Lynn Bridgeford (Jim), Earl McArthur (Sandra), Colin McArthur (Dragica) and Nancy Collette (Paul); grandchildren Glen (Colette), Todd, Lorie, Bill (Colleen), Corey, Deanna-Lynn, Jory, Devin, Julian, Kristina, Carson; great-grandchildren Dylan, Daniel, Braydon, Shannon, Kendra and Cassidy; brother Alfred McArthur (Kay) and sister Olive Sergeant (Nat) plus numerous nieces, nephews and friends. George started his work life as a paperboy, then enlisted in the Canadian Air Force. Following the War he took a position with the C.N.R. as a hostler where he retired from Symington in 1982 after 34 1/2 half years of service. After retirement, he worked for the Transcona-Springfield School Division. He was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge, and was an avid curler with C.N. at the Grain Exchange, G & G at Rossmere and Lorette. Early on in his life, he memorized several poems by Robert Service that he loved to recite. George and Eunice truly enjoyed their years as cottage owners at St. Malo. The hockey drafts he held at his home were a passion for him. He loved statistics and numbers! He will be sadly missed by us all. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A memorial service will be held at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. and Navin Rd., on Tuesday, August 31 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Green Acres Cemetery. WILLIAM EDWARD SMITH "SCHMIDT" William Smith passed away peacefully, on Friday, August 27, 2004 at the Beausejour Health Centre. He was born
on November 22, 1916 in Green Bay, MB. Bill is survived by his brothers and sisters; Walter and wife Elaine, Beausejour, Herbert and wife Margery, Winnipeg, Albert Schmidt, Beausejour, Lily Smith, Winnipeg, Anne Andrest, Winnipeg and Esther Bachman, Beausejour; also numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents Henry Schmidt in 1961 and Emillie Schmidt in 1995; his brother Harry Schmidt in 1991 and his sister Hilda Tittlemeir in 1991. Bill worked at various jobs - Winnipeg Coke, Moss Plant at Julius, Atomic Energy at Pinawa and at the Beausejour Hospital. Bill took a keen interest in the family farm and enjoyed hunting, fishing and also playing cards at the Beauhead Senior Centre. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 31 at 2:00 p.m. in the Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E. Beausejour with Pastor Hugh Laidlaw officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery, Green Bay. Friends may view at Sobering Funeral Chapel on Monday, August 30 from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and also prior to the service. JAMES BRUCE SULKERS After a long battle with Multiple Sclerosis, Jim passed away peacefully at his residence. Jim was born
on October 23, 1950 in Winnipeg, MB. After completing his education at Riverview School and Churchill High School, he carried on with a career at the CPR and later with Co-op Implements. Jim completed his working days with the City of Winnipeg's Engineering Department, where due to ill health, he settled for an early retirement. Jim was predeceased by his mother Jean Louise. Left to mourn his death are his son Christopher Michaels (Calgary); father Richard (Minnedosa); brother Donald (Florida); sister Linda Scott (Calgary); and nieces Tracy Scott (Brandon), Rachael Sulkers (Tennessee) and Nicole Kurtz (Winnipeg). DONALD LOUIS WORKMAN Suddenly, while doing what he loved best, gardening, Don passed away on August 25, 2004. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Sheryl and his seven children, Sean, Don (Shelly), Dan (Janet), David (Jane), Doug (Cheryl), Kathy (Rusty) and Michelle (John), 13 grandchildren, one great-grandson and his brother Bill. He was very proud of all of them. He also leaves to mourn his sisters-in-law Jo-Anne and Rilla, brothers-in-law Edward and Ted, four nephews, Mary Tracy and dear friends Brian and Marlene. Don was pre-deceased by his parents Arnold and Kathleen and one grandson. Don was born
June 30, 1932 in Garrett, Kentucky and grew up in Prestonsburg, Kentucky. In 1951 he enlisted in the United States Navy and served as a Hospital Corpsman, holding many medical assignments at hospitals and clinics along the East coast of the US. He saw much of the world while assigned to Navy ships and retired in 1970 with the rank of HM1. Don then went to work in Canada on the DEWLine and married Sheryl in 1974. In 1975 they were given the opportunity to go North together as the first husband and wife team to work on the DEWLine. Shortly after Sean was born, Don left the DEWLine, choosing to stay home and watch him grow. During that time there were lots of fishing trips, camping in the motor home and trips to the States to see the children and grandchildren. Don spent many, many hours gardening at The White House in Charleswood. He had a green thumb and could make anything grow. In addition to his love of gardening he also loved to bass fish and won many casting tournaments. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, September 1 at 11:00 am at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., (Aubrey Street entrance). Don's ashes will be interred at sea at a later date. in St. James, MB, on February 22, 1927. She was known as Pat Paulin when she grew up and attended Assiniboine and Linwood Schools and was a friend to everyone. She was confirmed in the United Church on January 20, 1946, and was a member of St. James United Church. She was predeceased by her parents John Paulin and Gertrude (Irvine) Paulin; brothers, John and Stewart; and sister Isabel. She was also predeceased by her only child Alexander (Sandy) Arthur Harry Bogden in 1990.
