EMMA SLOCOMBE-KOLBECK
August 09, 2004
EMMA ROSE SLOCOMBE-KOLBECK (nee JOHNSON) September 5, 1912 - August 6, 2004 It is with great sadness we mourn the passing of Nana Rose, who, in the early evening hours of August 6, 2004 quietly went to be with her lord. Emma Rose is survived by her son, William (Lynn); Bill's children, Gregory and Karen and Lynn's sons, Russell and Clinton. Her grandsons, Mark Scott (Debbie) and David Koltun (Laura) and her great-grandchildren, Lisa and Ryan Scott and Rosemary Koltun. She is also survived by her step-daughters, Georgia Wong and Joanne Deslauriers; and her step-grandchildren, Kelly Wong and Kyle and Shane Deslauriers; her niece Joan Elliott; and her sister-in-law Alice Johnson; as well as all nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Emma Johnson; beloved husband Reginald Slocombe; daughter Dorothy Joyce; her brother Thomas Johnson; and common-law husband Ernest Kolbeck. Born in Garson, MB, her childhood was spent in farm life. Helping her mother with her brother Tom and latter step siblings when her mother re-married after her father died at a young age. She was not a healthy child and, as she liked to tell us, was often told she would not live to make old bones. Nana was 91. She was a loving and selfless mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who always put others before herself. Her joy in life was her family and they were everything to her. She always had enough love for everybody, and when she loved you it was forever. We all know she loves us still. It was her wish to be cremated and laid to rest with her husband Reginald. There will be a memorial service to remember her and rejoice in her life on Tuesday, August 10, at Park Manor Personal Care Home, 301 Redonda St. at 2:00 p.m. Reception to follow the service. Flowers gratefully declined. In her honour, remember your elderly. Don't forget them and what they have given you and never let them be alone. Or if you wish, make a donation in her name to Park Manor Personal Care Home to help with future costs of therapeutic programs etc.

They enjoyed travelling the U.S. in the winters to ease her arthritis and even had a mobile home in Yuma, Arizona for a while. They moved to Lethbridge where she lived until her health forced her to return to Winnipeg in January 2003. She was able to spend 11 months in 2003 with her two grandchildren, the angels in her heart. In spite of her pain, she was able to enjoy planting flowers, picking chokecherries, making jelly and fishing. Mom loved to read, do both crossword and jigsaw puzzles and play crib. GRANT YETMAN
August 09, 2004
GRANT EARL YETMAN June 3 1955 - August 6 2004 Sadly on Friday, August 6, 2004 the passing of Grant Earl Yetman drastically altered the lives of so many people. Grant was a wonderful and generous person who took pride in absolutely everything that he did. This included the family business Yetman's Ltd. where he worked endless hours to ensure that everything was running smoothly. There is not an employee there that does not care for him and respect him. He was also a devoted member of St. John's Sportsmens Club and took great pride in doing the cabin bookings and being involved with the club and all of its great members. Daddy loved to spend his extra time building jumps for my sport, equestrian so the other riders and I could continue to improve. Daddy had a dream of watching me compete at Spruce Meadows. Grant was such an amazing man who is loved and always will be loved by anyone who had the honour of getting to know him. Grant has had so many positive and amazing influences in so many peoples lives, always encouraging dreams and goals no matter how far-fetched they may seem, and having faith and encouraging words when those dreams seemed so far away. He never gave up on anything or anyone, and you could count on him for absolutely anything and he would never let you down. He was an extraordinary person and not to mention he was the best father, husband, son, brother, uncle, and friend that anybody could ever have dreamed of. He loved more than anything spending time with his family whether it was on a vacation in Florida, fishing in the Whiteshell with his dad or just sitting at home talking about anything there was to talk about. Grant will forever be missed by so many people. Grant is survived by his loving wife Mona, daughter Jaclyn (or J.R. as he liked to say), and family dog Lacey. As well as his two wonderful parents, Earl and Dolores; brothers, Norman (Lynne), and Keith; "L'il Sis" Carolyn (Mark); and his nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. He is predeceased by his brother Glenn; grandparents, George and Norah Yetman and Norman and Doris Olson; Uncle Glenn; mother-in-law Freda; and brother-in-law Kas. Daddy 'O', you have a smile and laugh that could light up the very darkest of my days. You are beautiful. I love you and miss you so much. You are the best Daddy in the world and you always will be. I will forever remember all the good times that we had together and I'll look forward to more. You're my hero and I love you. We all love you. XOXOXOXOXO (the X's can be hugs and the O's can be kisses, just how you like it.) Celebration of life will be held Thursday, August 12, 2:00 p.m. at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main St. with Rev. Debbie Voss officiating. Honorary pallbearers will be Norman and Keith Yetman, Mark Rozmus, Geoff and Carl Olson, Brent Michaleski, Wayne Hinkel, and Larry Stefishen.
