RAYMOND MARSDEN "Cool It" Peacefully on August 4, 2004, Raymond Marsden (Cool It), of Pinaymootang First Nation, went to be with the Lord, at the age of 72 years. Raymond leaves to cherish his memory; sisters, Bernice (Peter) Anderson and Mary Ann Ryle; brothers, William (Olive) Marsden and Joseph (Sarah) Marsden; special nephews, Wilfred (Martha) Marsden, Gerald Letandre, and Leonard (Aka Cool Itaith); also many other nephews, nieces and relatives. Raymond was predeceased by his parents, Charlie and Martha Marsden; sisters, Carrie Letandre and Caroline Bruce; brothers, Earl Marsden and John (Irene) Marsden. Raymond lived all his life in Fairford. He enjoyed playing the fiddle and visiting with friends and relatives. He was a fisherman, trapper, hunter and a farmer. Raymond will always be loved and remembered. The Marsden family would like to thank the staff of MICU of the Health Sciences Centre, and those who visited and prayed during Raymond's stay at the hospital. A wake service will be held on Friday, August 6 at 7:30 p.m. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, August 8 at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Wilfred Bruce and Jim Anderson officiating. Both services will be held at the Fairford House of Prayer, Fairford, MB. Interment will follow at the St. Helen's Anglican Cemetery. in Lorette, MB on September 3, 1914. She passed away peacefully at Surrey Memorial Hospital on July 25, 2004 following a brief illness. She will be missed by family and friends those of whom were able attended a funeral service at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Burnaby, BC on the afternoon of July 30.

NELLIE (NAN) MCDONALD 1910 - 2004 On Thursday, August 5, 2004 at the Selkirk General Hospital, Nan McDonald passed away with her family by her side following a short illness. Nan is survived by her eight children, Myrtle Inkster, Phyllis (John) Swanson, Thelma Calder, Arlene McDonald, Don McDonald, Jim McDonald (Darlene), Henry (Sharon) McDonald and Darlene (Ken) Simon; 30 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren and one brother Clifford Sabel. She was predeceased by her husband Clifford in 1975; sons Bill, Victor and Stan; grandchildren, Karen, Corrine, Todd and Donald; sons-in-law Glen Inkster and Tom Calder; sisters, Sybil, May and Doris; and brothers, Bill and Henry. Nan was born
on February 7, 1910 in St. Peter's, MB, one of six children born
to Harry and Margaret Sabel. She married Clifford McDonald in November 1930 and together they had 11 children. She was a very loving and giving person, who had a heart of gold when it came to her family. Her door was always open to family and friends. In later years her favourite pastimes were crocheting and completing cross word puzzles and watching her favourite soaps and wrestling matches on TV. Friends and family may call for viewing on Monday, August 9 at 8:30 p.m. in the Gilbart Funeral Chapel. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday August 10 at 4:30 p.m. also in the chapel. Interment to follow in the St. Clement's Cemetery. The family wishes to express heartfelt thanks to Dr. Ryckman and Dr. Antonenko for their special care and compassion and to the nursing staff for their loving care and tenderness. JILL DENISE MINO At 12:35 a.m. Wednesday morning, the stage lights dimmed and Jill Denise Mino took her final bow. Sitting in the front row, amazed at her grace and dignity were the four people she loved the most; her mother, husband and two children. Jill was born
on September 29, 1954 at Women's College Hospital in Toronto. She received her early education at both public schools and the National Ballet School. Dance was a part of her life and it seemed as though when not performing, she was teaching. She received her B.A. Honours at York University and continued to perform, teach and choreograph in the medium she loved so much. In 1981 she accepted an invitation to come to Winnipeg and perform with Sundance, a dance troupe run by university friend Odette Hein. Soon, Jill would be a bridesmaid at Odette's wedding to Fred Penner. There, she advanced the relationship with the best man, Jim Ingebrigtsen. Twenty-three years later, they too would be married. In the interim, Jill and Jim built a lasting partnership and created two wonderful children, Anna Jillian and Leif Andreas. She was so proud of their respective talents and achievements her face beamed at everything they did. Jill was the first certified dance therapist in Manitoba. She was honoured to have worked at Winnipeg's Contemporary Dancers for many years and to have helped so many students develop skills in appreciation for the art form she loved so much. Through the Artists In The Schools program, Jill had the opportunity to travel to every corner of the province continuing to share her talents with others. When the time was right, Jill returned to University and received her B. Ed and soon began teaching at Westwood Collegiate where she remained until January when her health began to fail. Her achievements were many and reflected in her endless energy and enthusiasm in everything she did. Jill was predeceased by her father Howard Scott Mino in 1979. She is survived by her children, Anna and Leif; husband Jim; mother Joyce; brother Graham (Christine); nephews, Alexander and Jocelyn all of Toronto; sister Ann (Jim) of Thunder Bay; her aunt and uncle Joy and Ken Tidy; aunt Betty and her cousins, Alan, Andrea and Michael from Toronto and surrounding areas. The family would like to thank Drs. Werier, Drachenberg, Czaykowski, Daenink and the all the support staff of the W.R.H.A. Palliative Care Sub-Program. The memorial service will be held at the Unitarian Centre, 603 Wellington Cres., 1:00 p.m., Monday, August 16, 2004. BERNICE O'BRIEN Bernice passed away peacefully at Cottonwoods Care Facility, Kelowna on Thursday, August 5, 2004 at the age of 88. She was predeceased by her husband James and is survived by her son Brett O'Brien (Sharon), two grandchildren, Chad O'Brien (Julie), Krista Unger (Tim). Bernice was born
in Winnipeg, MB in 1916, an only child. She was married to James O'Brien February 17, 1940. Bernice was the first woman to enlist with the Manitoba Womans Army Reserve on July 22, 1940. They moved from Winnipeg to Vancouver in 1960. She became a lifetime member with the Royal Canadian Legion. After her husbands passing she moved to Kelowna, BC, October 1994. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends. No service by her request. RUTH O'SULLIVAN (nee BLORE) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Ruth O'Sullivan of Dunedin, Florida on Saturday, July 31, 2004, at the age of 70, following a short battle with cancer. She was predeceased by her husband Joseph in 1996. Born and raised in Winnipeg, where she met and married Joe, Ruth lived in Michigan, Minnesota, Illinois and then Dunedin, Florida. She will be lovingly remembered and missed by her five children, Joseph, of Atlanta, Kelly (Kelly), of Pennsylvania, and Colleen Martin (John), Mick (Laurie) and Kevin, of Florida, as well as her seven grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Shirley Kurdydyk (Emil), of Schaumburg, Ill. and brother Jim (Marsha), of Winnipeg, as well as her half-brother Tom and half-sister Brenda and numerous nieces and nephews. Ruth's life was her family, especially her grandchildren. She was a very special lady and the people whose lives she has touched will sadly miss her.

ERIC AUGUST OLSSON Eric August Olsson passed away August 4, 2004, at his home in the Eriksdale Personal Care Home with his family by his side. Eric was born
in Winnipeg, December 15, 1915, the third and youngest child of Olaf and Sara Olsson. He was predeceased by his parents; brother Ole; sister-in-law Victoria; sister Martha; brother-in-law Helge and nephew Gerald. He is survived by niece Janice (Ron) Appleyard of Sandy Lake and their family; and cousins, Margaret (Everett) Sidwall, Mildred Rae, Alvin (Faye) Goranson and their families. Eric farmed with his parents which was followed by school bus driving and doing farm labour for others. Eric loved people, especially little people. He filled his life with helping others. His caring and concerns for the people of his community kept him close to home all his life. Funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10 at the Eriksdale Recreational Centre with Pastor Bill Watson officiating. Viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the Recreational Centre. Interment to follow in the Nord Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ron and Janice Appleyard, Glen Kingsley and Phil Beckman, Randy Surgenor and Alvin Goranson. The family is grateful to all the staff at the E.M. Crowe Health Centre who cared for and about Eric's well-being. Thank you to the very special staff at Eriksdale Personal Care who surrounded Eric with love and compassion. PEARL PARISIAN Peacefully on Thursday, August 5, 2004, Pearl Parisian passed away at St. Boniface Hospital, at the age of 77 years. Pearl is survived by her husband of 60 years, Fiola Parisian; her son Henry (Linda); her two daughters, Muriel (Vern) and Jean (Harold); 11 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren; with special mention to her two babies, Karen and Lawrence; plus her two sisters, Mabel (Bob) and Gladys (Allen). She was predeceased by her mother and father, Amellia and Alphonse; four sisters, Dorothy, Liz, Linda and Ida; and three brothers, Gary, Roy, and Marshall. Pearl's love of children, love of life, her gift for cooking and how she took care of her Papa will be remembered and sadly missed. Bruce is survived by many children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. PETER PAULS August 10, 1929 - August 5, 2004 Peter was the youngest of nine brothers (six served in Second World War) and two sisters born
to Henry and Anna (nee Hiebert) Pauls, of Winkler, MB. They were suffocated by children even so he was pampered by doting parents who were delighted in this late in life gift. Having just laboured the previous lot, they thought they might as well relax and enjoy Peter, expecting to rear no superstar. He was baptised and accepted as a member of the Winkler Mennonite Brethren Church at the age of 14. He transferred his membership to the Winkler Bergthaler Church, Nancy's home church, prior to their August 24, 1952 wedding (which was postponed due to the endemic polio ravishing the community). Surviving siblings are Albert, Daniel, Corny, Anna and George. Deceased are Jake, Hank, Eva, Levi and Frank. His soul has now been returned to our Creator. Dearly missed by his precious wife, Nancy (nee Enns); children, Erroll, Marla, Wendell, Celia, Lyle and Nina and his grandchildren, Jodie and Jeffrey, Alana and Kyle, Dallas, Lindsay and Nykolas, Aidan and Angus, Lacey, Jessica, Alyssa and Stephen. Special "hello" and "good-byes" to his boyhood friends of his first 20 years. Thank you to the wonderful Barkfield students and their empathetic parents for their patience and tolerance for this his first full time paying job; to Dr. Elliot and his instructors and the many fellow students in medical technology in Brandon; to the doctors and co-workers in the Freemason's Morden General; to the doctors and co-workers at Treherne; and to the "100 odd" doctors and the wonderful family of co-workers during his last 26 years at Bethesda. There will be a brief memorial service on Sunday, August 8 at 2:00 p.m. at the Birchwood Funeral Chapel, Steinbach. The University of Manitoba, Faculty of Medicine will, in due time, take charge of the private memorial rituals for the recently bereaved members at the assigned Honour Section of the Brookside Cemetery. NATALIE PLOTKIN (nee GOLDBERG) It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our beloved mother Natalie Plotkin on July 13, 2004 at the age of 77. Predeceased by her parents, Bill and Anne Goldberg and her husband and soulmate Louie Plotkin (2001), she is survived by her four children; Stephen Plotkin, Lisa Diamant, (Adi), Barbara Hotz (Gershon), and Judy Plotkin (Ruth Laveman); brother Manley Goldberg, grandchildren and endless sources of joy, Tomer, Nira and Rotem Diamant and Leeat and Eliana Hotz; nieces, nephews and cousins. In addition to her family, she will also be greatly missed by her many lifelong friends who loved her dearly. Natalie was born
in Winnipeg in 1927, and graduated from St. John's Tech. She completed her Bachelor of Social Work Degree in 1947. Natalie was the quintessential "super mom", keeping in balance her family life, a successful career as a Social Worker at St. Joseph's Day Nursery, and immersing herself in community volunteer work of which a large part was dedicated to being a founding member of the Manitoba Association for Children with Learning Disabilities (MACLD now LDAM). Natalie was also a member of many Jewish community organizations including: Life member Hadassah - Wizo, ORT, and PNAI (Parents of North American Israelis). A pioneer, Natalie was amongst the earliest graduates of the then newly established School of Social Work at the University of Manitoba. She took pride in helping others to help themselves. She was humanistic and eclectic in her approach impacting on many. Her specialities in child development and learning disabilities inspired her to advocate for higher early assessment and intervention standards and improved child development programs in Day Care and the school system. As an educational advocate and persuasive communicator, she was a woman of letters, briefs, phone calls and "face to faces". She was fearless and enjoyed sparring with government ministers, school board officials, university deans, and anybody who presented barriers to a child's right to a quality education. As part of the original MACLD collective, Natalie was instrumental in organizing the first province-wide educational conferences on Learning Disabilities, and fostered the introduction of Resource Teachers into the Manitoba school system. In retirement she volunteered with children in the school system, and had a small private practice helping LD kids and their families. Again reinventing herself (age 60+) "Cyber Savta" took to modern technology like a duck to water. The pride and joy of her life - her grandchildren, were all computer savvy thanks to her many tutorials and encouragements. Natalie will be missed by her many "on line" friends. As an active member of PNAI, Natalie advocated for changes in government policies (both Israeli and Canadian) to help parents stay better connected with their children living in Israel. Natalie was loved for her creative, funny and sometimes controversial editorial pieces in the PNAI newsletter "The Kesher" which she prepared and published for PNAI. Into her 70's, Natalie reconnected with the Faculty of Social Work as a Mentor for students in the Educational Equity Program. She especially enjoyed Mentoring students with the added challenges of ESL, providing help with their academics and offering social and emotional support. Natalie was gratified by their appreciation and successes. Natalie's interests in life were vast, varied and cultured. She was an amazing seamstress (doll clothes), enjoyed needlework and knitting, was a gourmet cook, exceptional "bake" (always in demand), fan of opera and all things classical and musical, had a diverse insatiable appetite for books, appreciated art and had an eye for the esthetic. She took great pleasure in designing the interior of her homes, antiquing, entertaining and was den mother to many of her children's friends, maintaining many of these relationships throughout her life. She stayed on top of world events and as a student of social political history, she remained attuned to ongoing concerns of social justice at all levels. Her traditional Jewish values shaped her actions in life. She was "real", morally just and honourable. Natalie was perhaps most at peace reading and doing jigsaw puzzles at the family cabin at Falcon Lake, which for over 40 years served as her retreat and spiritual oasis. Natalie always said "if you can get through life with two close friends, you will have done well." Indeed she vastly exceeded her modest expectations. She has left a legacy both in deeds and relationships. She was an intelligent, complex and interesting person. She wanted us to embrace each precious moment and celebrate this adventure called "life". Along with her soulmate, our beloved Pappa Louie, Mom will forever remain present in our minds and in our hearts. Funeral Services were held at the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue on July 15 with interment at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery. Pallbearers were Tomer Diamant, Gershon Hotz, Marc Raymond, Gordon Steindel, Adi Diamant, and Murray Goldenberg. Honorary pallbearers were Dave Goldberg and Mel Goldenberg. MARGARET (MEGS) ROBINSON August 31, 1926 - July 18, 2004 With great sadness, Ruth Drew announced the passing of Megs in St. Boniface Hospital, July 18, 2004. In early childhood she was predeceased by her mother, Mrs. Frank Robinson; an infant sister Ruth; and later by her chosen mother, Mrs. Park Tucker. Brothers, Arthur, Bruce and Murray also predeceased her. She is survived by numerous nieces and nephews including John Robinson, Florida; Sister Mary Beth Robinson, Massachusetts, Park Robinson, Calgary; sister-in-law Mary Taylor, Toronto, and had happily accepted Kerry and Brian Acland's invitation to join their family. Megs attended high school in Mamaroneck, New York, obtained her business diploma from the University of New York State and was employed in the advertising department of the New York Times. When she took up residence in Winnipeg, she joined the Winnipeg Tribune as secretary to the executive editor and later was appointed executive secretary to the publisher. She also received a business diploma from the Banff School of Fine Arts. Megs was a member of the Women's Sales and Advertising Club, director of the Wildewood Club in charge of food and beverages, helped to organize the curling section of the Club even though she had never thrown a rock, and was president of Southwood Green Condominium in its early stages. She loved sports and enjoyed and played badminton, basketball, baseball, golf and field hockey. Rowing at the Winnipeg Canoe Club was another of her favourite activities. When she was figure skating at the Winnipeg Winter Club she was a member of the group that performed in Brandon starring Barbara Ann Scott. In earlier life at St. George's Crescentwood Anglican Church she was actively involved with the Brownies and a bible study group. A service was held at St. George's followed by a celebration of her life at the Wildewood Club. Cremation has taken place and committal will be at a later date in St. John's Cathedral cemetery.
