Apprenticed Boilermaker fitter, Vulcan Iron Works 1952 - 1956. Employed by C.N.R. retired in 1993. He is survived by cousins in Saskatchewan, beloved friend and companion Barbara. DENNIS PANTELUK Sadly we announce the passing of Dennis Panteluk on Wednesday, July 7, 2004 with his family by his side at the age of 58, born
July 27, 1945. Dennis was predeceased by his mother Alice and his sister Alexandria Miller. He leaves to cherish his memory his father Alec; brothers, Doug (Wendy), Mike (Janice); brother-in-law Curtis Miller; nephews, Lindsey and Brett; nieces, Melissa and Melanie Panteluk, Tara and Lacey Miller; good friend Jocelyn Stockwell and all of his friends. Dennis was a long distance truck driver for over 35 years. Honorary pallbearers, Bud Babisky, Lindsey and Brett Panteluk, Lyle Gretchen, Cliff Recuynik and Dave Preece. He will be sadly missed and forever in our hearts. We would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the ICU at Concordia Hospital. A memorial service will be held in the chapel of Voyage Funeral Home on Saturday, July 10 at 7:00 p.m. Private family interment to follow at a later date. LORRAINE S. PETERS (WASTLE) Lorraine passed away, unexpectedly in her sleep, on June 8, 2004. Mom will be greatly missed by her family and friends. Lorraine Sylvia was born
in Winnipeg in 1935, and no matter where life took her, she always returned there. She is survived by her three son's Robert (Marlene), Desmond, Jeffrey (Karen); daughter Kerri-Lynn; brother Gordon (Bev); grandson Travis, granddaughter Nicole, and very close friend, Wilma Kernested. Also many nephews, nieces and friends. She was predeceased by her parents Robert and Evlynn Wastle. Mom`s lifelong ability to see everything in a positive way is a legacy which will live on in the hearts of those who had the great pleasure of knowing her. ANDRE "AUGIE" PYNENBURG October 13, 1949 - July 4, 2004 Peacefully on July 4, 2004 Augie passed away after a short, but courageous battle with cancer with his family and friends at his side. He leaves to mourn his only daughter Kelly Pynenburg (her mother Denise) of Brandon; his love and longtime partner Laurie Stevens of Winnipeg; step-daughters Sandi Stevens (Kirt) of Stony Mountain, Kristin Stevens (Tom) of Winnipeg, both parents, Antonius and Cornelia Pynenburg of Stony Mountain, his older brother Cris Pynenburg (Paulette) of Calgary, his five sisters, Joanna "Honey" Deprez (Dick) of Stony Mountain, Maria Mattis (Fred) of Winnipeg, Elizabeth "Beepy" Sutherland (Frank) of Kamloops, Cory Koss (Warren) of Winnipeg, Annette Campbell (Jim) of Stony Mountain, his younger brother Tony Pynenburg of Stony Mountain and numerous nieces and nephews. He was the second born
of eight children to Antonius and Cornelia Pynenburg. Augie was born
in Riel, Holland (Netherlands) on October 13, 1949 and at the young age of three he immigrated to Canada on the ship "Groote Beer" with his parents and siblings and moved to Stony Mountain, MB where he resided until his death. Augie was a journeyman plumber his whole adult life and was sought after by many who knew of his excellent work. Augie's passions were fishing and hunting. He spent every weekend at his cabin in Kenora fishing for "The Big One" and visiting his friends. And in the fall he could be found in some dugout waiting for geese to fly over or walking through the bush waiting for his prize elk or deer to appear. He had a great sense of humour and kept everyone laughing, even through these difficult times these last few months. Augie was a wonderful father, companion and friend and will be fondly remembered and sadly missed by his family, friends and coworkers whose lives he had touched. Thank you to all of his family and friends that supported Augie through this difficult time. A special thanks to his closest friends who: drove him to his daily appointments, came to visit him, took him on wonderful fishing trips, cut his grass and even made him homemade soup and "Fancy Sandwiches" (which he loved) and you all know who you are. Thank you to the caring nursing staff and Dr. Garcia at Riverview Health Centre - 3 East Wing in Winnipeg, who kept him as comfortable as possible in his last days. Also to Dr. D. Venter in Stonewall Hospital, Dr. Navaratnam and clinic nurse Jayne at CancerCare in Winnipeg. Cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Stonewall on Monday, July 19 at 7:00 p.m. with a lunch to follow at the Stony Mountain Recreation Centre in Stony Mountain, MB. In lieu of flowers, donation can be made in Augie's memory to CancerCare Manitoba, 675 McDermot Ave., Winnipeg, MB R3E 0V9. "Have I told you how much I love you today?" FREDERICK WILLIAM EDWARD (TED) SHAW It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Ted on July 9, 2004 at his home in Winnipeg. Ted will be lovingly remembered by his family son Timothy (Monique), daughter Christine (Tim), sister Gloria, grandchildren, Adam, Ryan and Molly, sister-in-law Mary (Lanny), niece Jennifer, special friend Laura, family and friends in Toronto and Winnipeg and coworkers. Predeceased by wife Ann in 1998, parents Earline and Stewart, father-in-law Howard, mother-in-law Sarah. Ted at 63 had always tried to live life to its fullest, born
October 17, 1940 in Toronto; he graduated from Central Tech High School. Ted married Ann in 1962 and started their family. Working as an aviation insurance specialist for Reed Shaw & McNaught; Ted, Ann and their two children moved to Winnipeg in 1972. Ted was a Senior Vice-President with Aon Insurance working for the company for 32 years. He was a past President of the Manitoba Insurance Brokers Association. Ted loved planes and in early years enjoyed flying. Ted travelled throughout the world on business and pleasure with his wife Ann and later with companion Laura. Ted fought a brave battle with cancer during this last year and the family would like to express sincere appreciation to the St. Boniface Palliative Care Team. HARVEY WAYNE SHIELLS 1939 - 2004 On July 6, 2004, beloved husband and father Harvey Shiells passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital after a lengthy illness at the age of 65. Harvey is survived by wife Marion; son Ken and wife Laura; daughter Tannis and husband Bryan; and granddaughter Tiffany. He was predeceased by his parents Harold and Margaret Shiells of Winnipeg. Harvey was an avid fisherman who enjoyed his fly-in fishing trips with "the boys" in Ontario, and spending time at the family cottage at White Lake. He enjoyed woodworking, wine making and looking after the yard. He retired from public service, Revenue Canada in 1996 after 39 years of service. He was a 10 year volunteer with the Winnipeg Cheer Board and recently, the property manager at Christ Lutheran Church where he got to use much of his knowledge of carpentry and general maintenance. He and Marion enjoyed Tuesday night bowling, good restaurants and Friday evening coffee with friends. They both loved to travel, especially cruises to the Sun. Harvey was a man of few words with a dry sense of humour. He was well respected and liked by all who knew him and will be sorely missed by his family and friends. The family wishes to extend sincere thanks to Dr. Jamie Boyd and the residents of the Kildonan Clinic in Seven Oaks Hospital for all their care and attention over the last year. A memorial service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church, 815 Inkster Blvd., Winnipeg, R2X 1N3, at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday July 13. GREGORY KYLE SHUMILA It is with great sadness that the Shumila family announces the sudden passing of our beloved Greg on July 7, 2004 at the age of 23. Greg will be lovingly remembered by his parents Elmer and Valerie and sister Kim (Ken). He will also be missed by numerous aunts, uncles,cousins and many friends. Greg grew up in West Kildonan attending elementary school at Margaret Park where many lasting friendships began. He moved on to Edmund Partridge Junior High School, and then to West Kildonan Collegiate where he graduated in 2000. As a child Greg enjoyed sports, playing soccer out of Vince Leah Community Centre and baseball out of Garden City. In the summers Greg found enjoyment wakeboarding with friends, and snowboarding during the winters. Growing up Greg also enjoyed the times spent at the family farm near Beausejour where he along with his cousins spent countless hours snowmobiling and riding dirt bikes. Greg's love for dirt bikes matured into a love for motorcycles and cars, which was evident to those near to him by the amount of time he invested with his friends and family working with passion in the garage. Greg entered the work force at an early age taking on a paper route. As he got older he began working at Red Lobster on McPhillips, where he continued to work part-time until present. After graduating Greg took an auto body course and went on to work for Winter's Auto Body. After four years with Winter's Greg was looking for a new experience and began working at JDS Construction. Throughout his work experience Greg developed many friendships which he cherished. Of recent, Greg would discuss plans to further his education and was deciding what career path to follow while enjoying the time spent with family, hanging out with friends, and going to the gym. For those who knew Greg we will miss his unique character. His generosity and ability to always be there for his friends coupled with the smile he carried wherever he went will echo on in our memories, much like his irreplaceable laugh. Greg and his slurpees will be greatly missed by Barney. Services to be held at Glen Eden Funeral Home. Prayers will be held on Monday, July 12, at 7:00 p.m. Funeral will take place on Tuesday, July 13, at 2:30 p.m. with Father Isidore Dziadyk O.S.B.M. officiating. Interment and reception to follow. MAX SIMOVITCH July 4, 2004 Peacefully under the care of staff, family and friends at the Convalescent Home of Winnipeg. Max was predeceased by parents, Morris and Lottie Simovitch; sister Sophie and brother-in-law Mooney Averback. He is survived by his loving wife Phyllis; her sons, Dan (Pam) and Lindsay Saunders; grandchildren, Tracy, Riley (Julie) of Kelowna, BC, Tannis Reichert (Rob) of Lac du Bonnet, MB, Adam and Evan Saunders of Carman, MB; nephews, David, Paul and Benjie Averback, his cousins, family and dear friends and neighbours, as well as great-grandchildren, Hudson, Hunter and Gabriel Reichert, Jaiden and Avery Saunders. Max was raised in the Elmwood area of Winnipeg. While he was considered a Major League baseball prospect he enlisted in the services (RCAF) during the Second World War and spent wartime in the Maritimes. After completing the service Max joined Rice Sportswear Ltd. as a sales representative calling on quality men's clothing stores from Saskatchewan through to Quebec. He was devoted to the Arts in Winnipeg, in particular, the Winnipeg Symphony, Chamber music and the Royal Winnipeg Ballet. His passion however belonged to West Hawk Lake where he built with friends his special home away from home close to McDougal's Landing in 1954. It was there he developed a special fondness for the water. His personal favourites were his handcrafted Y-Flyer and the Sheppard. Another special treat for Max was his home on Cambridge where he enjoyed puttering year round whether it be gardening, painting or simply sitting in the great room in front of a roaring fire listening to his bride Phyllis playing the piano. He also enjoyed his regular jaunts with his boyhood baseball pals and business friends at Alycia's regaling fond memories in past days. He is now at peace and those who have known Max are better people because of his friendship and generosity. Sleep well Max, knowing you will be missed, a legacy has been left to all you have touched. As per his wishes his ashes will be spread at West Hawk Lake. In lieu of flowers, donations to made in Max's name to the YMHA, Rose and Max Rady Community Centre or the Alzheimer's Society.
