A. WAYNE GABEL August 11, 1947 - July 4, 2004 Wayne Gabel passed away on July 4, 2004 after courageously battling cancer. Wayne is survived by his dedicated wife Barbara; and his three children, Kim, Harley and Brie (Chad McCrady). He is also survived by his sisters, Katherine (Walter Gessner) and Jeanette (Rudy Lewis). Wayne will be dearly missed by all his relatives, friends and family pet Trixie. Wayne was born
in Melville, SK. He was an avid businessman in the confectionery and food industry. He began his career at the OK Economy Grocery Store in Melville. Wayne joined Nabisco Brands Confectionery in 1973, which took him to Saskatoon, SK, Winnipeg and North Delta, BC. In 1992 Wayne and Barb moved to Lethbridge, AB where they became the successful owners and operators of Plains Kandie Jobbers Ltd. Wayne's many friends will remember him as a generous and sociable host, always ready with an entertaining story or joke. His customers and suppliers will remember Wayne with respect for his keen business acumen. Wayne was also well-respected by the many Hutterite Colonies throughout the Prairie Provinces, British Columbia and North Western United States. Funeral services will be held on Friday, July 9 at 1:00 p.m. at Southminster United Church, 1101-4 Avenue South, Lethbridge, with Rev. Elizabeth Brown officiating. Interment in the Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge. DOROTHEE GOBIN (nee LACROIX) Peacefully at the St. Claude Pavilion on Sunday July 4, Mrs. Dorothee Gobin of St. Claude, MB passed away at the age of 69 years. She leaves to mourn her beloved husband Georges of St. Claude; five children, Reg Gobin of St. Claude, Pierrette (Norman) Buisson of Winnipeg, Cecile Gobin of Winnipeg, Andre (Dolores) of St. Claude, Jacqueline (Anthony) Schick of Winnipeg; one daughter-in-law Joane Gobin of Haywood; seven grandchildren, Trent, Shannon (Jeremy), Lindsay, Melissa, Brodie, Brendon and Aaron; two great-grandchildren, Alex and Julia. She also leaves to mourn her passing one sister, two brothers, and numerous in-laws, nieces, nephews, relatives and friends. She was predeceased by her son Guy in 1980, her father Louis Lacroix, her mother Cecile (nee Hamel), four brothers and by one sister. Prayers will be held at Adam's Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 6 at 8:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated in the St. Claude Roman Catholic Church on Wednesday, July 7 at 2:00 p.m. with Fr. MARJORIE FLORENCE JOHNSON (nee STANIER) On Friday, July 2, 2004, with her family at her side, Marjorie Florence Johnson passed away at West Park Manor. Marjorie was born
in Swan River, MB, August 5, 1919 to William and Mary Stanier (nee Jeffrey). She spent the majority of her life in Winnipeg with the exception of a year in Red Deer, AB where she married Lloyd Johnson, who was serving in the R.C.A.S.C. during the Second World War. Her early married life was devoted to the upbringing of her five sons, followed by 20 years in the employ of the T. Eaton Co. She was a member of Grace United Church, St. Stephen's-Broadway United Church, the Eaton's Retirement Club and Fort Garry Chapter No. 17, Order of the Eastern Star. Marjorie's greatest joy was her family. She loved her times at the Johnson cottage at Manigotogan, playing cards, and enjoying spectacular sunsets. She was a great knitter and made sure all had sweaters, mitts and socks to keep them warm. She was very proud of her children and grandchildren and their accomplishments. Marjorie made many friends during her lifetime and will be greatly missed by all whom she touched. She is survived by her sons and their families, Lloyd, wife Alene and daughter Naomi of Gatineau, QC; Jack, wife Janice and sons Andrew and Matthew of Winnipeg; Douglas, wife Catherine and son Jeffrey and daughter Dawn of Winnipeg; Timothy, wife Anna and sons Eric, Scott and Brett of Edmonton, and Donald and Darren of Winnipeg. She is also survived by her brother David and his wife Joan of Winnipeg, and her sister-in-law Nora Corley Murchison of Ottawa. She was predeceased by her husband Lloyd in 1975, her parents, her sisters Edith Stanier and Myrtle Furst and her brother James Stanier. Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 7 at 2:00 p.m., at Neil Bardal Inc., 984 Portage Ave., Aubrey Street entrance. Interment at Brookside Cemetery in the family plot beside her husband will take place prior. EDNA EMILINE JOHNSON Edna Johnson passed away on June 30, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital. In the care of the 4th and 7th floor staff, assisted by Palliative Care, she was able to go peacefully. During the time she spent in the hospital she showed remarkable strength of character and spirit. Edna and her husband Floyd lived for many years in St. Vital. She worked for the provincial government until her retirement. She and Floyd were longtime members of the Royal Canadian Legion (St. Vital Branch). She was a competitive curler for many years with the St. Vital Curling Club and the Legion. In retirement she took up lawn bowling and for many years bowled with the Norwood Club. She made many friends and her competitive spirit and good sportsmanship will be dearly missed. She was a member of the Prendergast Seniors, and enjoyed the activities and the friendship and will be dearly missed. Edna will be sadly missed by her many friends too numerous to mention. She is survived by her brother Lawrence Borden (Dub) Mundell of Brandon; her nephew Alan Silverthorne of Regina; and great-nephew Aaron Silverthorne of Regina. No funeral service will be held. Donations to the Humane Society would be appreciated.

ANNE KAHANOVITCH It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of our mother and Bobbi, Anne Kahanovitch (nee Werger) on July 3, 2004. Anne was predeceased by her husband Harry; her parents, Morris and Lily Werger; and her sister Elvie Blum. Anne will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Rochelle Kahanovitch; son and daughter-in-law, Israel and Bonny; grandchildren, Dalit and Gary Dolovich, Yael and Brent Sasley, Shoshana Kahanovitch; great-grandchildren, Noam Dolovich and Arielle Sasley; sister Molly Grossman; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Anne was born
in Toronto, April 16, 1914, living there many years before moving to Winnipeg to marry Harry. She was active in B'nai Brith, Hadassah Wizo, National Council of Jewish Women, the Jewish Historical Society, the Talmud Torah and was a longtime member of the Herzlia Synagogue. Anne and her sisters ran a successful art gallery, Gallerie Fore, for 10 years. Anne and Harry enjoyed entertaining at home with their many friends. They loved travelling, bowling and walking together. Anne had many interests, but she especially enjoyed playing bridge and mah-jong. Mom always gave of herself, in many ways to help others. She was kind, caring and very passionate about life. Family was extremely important to her. Mom always spoke her mind, giving advice to all. She had an exceptional sense of humour. Mom's greatest joy were her granddaughters and great-grandchildren. Graveside services were held Sunday, July 4 at the Shaarey Zedek Cemetery, with Rabbi Tzvi Muller and Cantor Gerry Daien officiating. Pallbearers were Gary Dolovich, Brent Sasley, Brian Burke, Cliff Levi, Sam Nimchonok and Jeff Hyman. Mom will be sorely missed by her family and many friends. She was a very special lady. Shiva is being held at 586 Oat St. If so desired, donations in Anne's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.

JOHN (JACK) STANLEY KINGSLAND On Friday, July 2, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital, Jack passed away at the age of 60 years. He will be forever remembered by his sons, Kerry (Tracy) and Kevin (Lisa). His granddaughter Chelsea, held a special place in her heart for Grandpa as did his grandson, Joel. Remaining to cherish his memory is Evelyn Kingsland, former wife, mother of his children, lifelong friend and support. Jack was predeceased by his parents, Stan and Vi Kingsland. Jack spent several years residing in Calgary with his second wife, Lila and that is where he met his current wife, Judy. He enjoyed cars, playing country music on his guitar, sports and Jeannie's cakes. Jack moved back home to Winnipeg and spent his last year and a half surrounded by family, old friends and new friends at his apartment complex on Chesterfield in St. Vital. Throughout his lengthy illness, Jack displayed courage and strength that we all admired. A Celebration of Jack's Life will be held on Wednesday, July 7 at 1:00 p.m. at Thomson "In the Park" (Garry Memorial), 1291 McGillivray Blvd. Our family wishes to express their gratitude to the nursing staff at the Victoria General Hospital. MARIE E. KORANICKI After a brave and courageous battle with cancer, Marie E. Koranicki passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2004. I am survived by my sister Annette and husband Danny Gougeon; nephew and godson Daniel (Liz) and boys, Matthew and Eric; niece Monique (Mirek) and girls, Mila and Madan; and sister-in-law Anne. I was predeceased by my mother Anna in 1982, my father Alex in 1973, my husband Eddy in 1992 and my brother Morris in 2003. I was born
in Vita, MB on May 3, 1938. From 1958 to 1969 I worked for M.T.S. I joined Eddy in 1969 to operate the deli in Eddys Place in the north end. When Eddy passed away leaving me to operate the business myself, I would not have made it without the help of many friends, you know who you are. Due to illness in 1980 and failing health, I was forced to retire in November, 2000. I sure do miss my customers. A very special thank you to Dr. Lezack and the Angels of the Seven Oaks Oncology, for the wonderful care you gave me and also to the staff at Riverview 3 East. Thank you to all my caring friends, for the visits and constant phone calls to make sure that I was fine and for the many luncheons. I really appreciated it. A great big warm thank you to Diana and Norm Huggins - Diana for looking after me everyday and Norm for the rides and care and to Judy Pesclivetch for the care and company and being there for me, as well as Zina Schellberg and Irene Bachinsky. Thank you Wayne and Karen Whalen. Cremation has taken place. HILDA CAROLINE KUNDERMAN After a courageous battle with cancer, Hilda Kunderman, aged 72, passed away on July 3, 2004 at the Riverview Health Centre. She was predeceased by her husband Donald Gregoire in 2001. Her memory will be forever cherished by her children, Gregory, Carol, Lisa (Robert), Randall (Jeanne); her two grandsons, Kurtis and Cameron; as well as her niece, nephews and friends. Sunday suppers and sitting around the kitchen table discussing life was one of her favourite pastimes. She enjoyed garage sales, bingo, and preparing income tax for friends and family. The highlight of her summer was helping out at the Ingolf Regatta manning the White Elephant table. Her kind heart and sense of humour will be missed. Cremation has taken place, a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 8, 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. The family wishes to extend heartfelt thanks to the doctors, nurses and homecare workers who made her last days comfortable. ROSIE LEOCHKO (nee POWOROSKI) January 1, 1932 - July 4, 2004 Peacefully on July 4, 2004 at Seven Oaks General Hospital, Rosie passed away at the age of 72. Her memory will be forever cherished by her husband Peter of 45 years of marriage; daughters, Cindy (Paul) Yarish, Angela (Ron) Price, Dale (Greg) Shupenia and grandchildren Wyatt, Morgan, Jesse, Dallas and Alexandria. She was predeceased by her parents, John and Nettie; sisters, Lena, Mary and Carrie; and brothers, Peter and Donnie. Rosie was born
and raised in Malonton, MB. Mom and Dad moved to Meleb in 1965 where they farmed until her passing. Mom was famous for her cooking and she always had an open door policy. When people came to visit, you were always invited in for "coffee". Of course it would not only be coffee, it could be anything from goodies to a full course meal or even a perogy feast. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed be her family, her card playing friends and neighbours. The family is grateful for the wonderful care that mom received from the nursing staff at Seven Oaks General Hospital (5th Floor - Units 2 & 3). Prayers will be held on Wednesday, July 7 at 7:30 p.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Funeral service will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 10:30 a.m. at the MacKenzie Funeral Chapel, Teulon. Predeceased by her parents, James and Bertha Daw; husband Hiram (Tom); son Ronald and daughter-in-law Lorna; sons-in-law, Alton and Enoch; grandson Richard; six sisters and five brothers. Goldie will forever be remembered by daughters, Shirley, Maxine (Steve), Marie (Ken); sons, Thomas (Viktoria), James, Lenard (Valerie); 28 grandchildren and 50 great-grandchildren. MARGARETHA LUSSIER (nee WOLFE) May 23, 1936 - July 4, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and beloved wife of Andrew Lussier. She was predeceased by her first husband Henry Unrau, and her parents, David D. and Anna Wolfe. Left to cherish her memory is her son Lawrence Unrau (Amy), daughter Dorothy (Robert Gauthier), six grandchildren, Amie-Jo, David, Theodore, Suzanne, Sarah and Allison. She will also be remembered by her brothers and sisters, Neil Wolfe (Loretta), David Wolfe (Margaret), Anne Heide (Herman), John Wolfe (Mary), Sadie Fehr (Ed), Katie Unger, Mary Murray (Dave), Nellie Klassen (Bill), Helen Unrau (Bill), Jack Wolfe (Arlene) and Nettie Thiessen (Peter). Marg was born
in Mexico in 1936. In 1947, the family moved to Winkler. She met her first husband Henry and moved to B.C. After the passing of her husband in 1966, Marg and her two children moved to Winnipeg. Marg worked at Woolco for many years where she made many friends. In 1975, she married Andrew Lussier. They went to the United Church where she was very active in the UCW Unit 4. They enjoyed early retirement together travelling, gardening and spending time with family and friends. Marg was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and a very caring friend. She will be greatly missed by everyone. The seeds she has sown will continue to bloom. A funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 8 at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave. W., with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Interment will take place in Glen Lawn Memorial Gardens. A gathering of family and friends will follow in Church Hall. Flowers are gratefully declined. EARL LESLIE MANN Earl passed away on Saturday, July 3, 2004 at Hunter Memorial Hospital in Teulon, MB at 51 years of age. He was born
June 9, 1953 in Toronto and, with his parents Leslie and Irene Mann and brother Brian, moved to Balmoral, MB in 1958, later moving to Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his father Canadian Composer Leslie Mann in 1977. Earl's musical gifts as a fine drummer and guitarist filled his life with joy. He is survived by his mother Irene; his brother Brian; special cousins, Janice in Toronto and Ross in Edmonton. Also many cousins in Alberta and British Columbia. Earl was blessed with loyal and caring friends that he truly loved - the Peter Stafford family, the Blayne Farebrother family, and Steve Oberding, and many others too numerous to include here. He was most appreciative of the care he received from the doctors, nurses and staff at the Teulon Hospital. Cremation has taken place and as Earl wished there will be no service. ANNIE McDONALD McLUCAS (NAN, NANCY) As in life, my Mother died with grace and dignity. She will give us all strength to carry on. Annie McDonald McLucas was born
in Glasgow, Scotland in 1925 to Margaret and James Murray. She was the eldest of four siblings. Annie, John (Dec.), Lachie (Dec.) and Jean (Vancouver). Growing up in Scotland, Mom was very active with Girl Guides and was a Leader for many years. She met the love of her life Neil and married July 2, 1946. March of 1957, with their daughter, they immigrated to Canada for a better life. Before her departure for Canada she was honoured with a Lifetime Membership to the Eastern Star. Both Mom and Dad had very good times enjoying the company of member of Sons of Scotland Curling Club. She had the distinct honour of belonging to "The Eight Ender Club". Mom was also a faithful "trifle" maker at the Scottish Pavilion for many years. Royal Lake Resort saw many Happy Hours with friends, family and neighbours enjoying good times and many laughs. Cruise ships, bus trips and casino trips with her friend Mary gave Mom many happy times. She is survived by her only child Margaret (Tom Gavronski), grandchildren, Brent (great granddaughter Claire), Tracy (Paul Lepine), sister Jean Morrin (Tom, Dec.), sisters-in-law Sheila Lawrence (George), Mississauga, Maise Marshall (Frank, Dec.), Scotland, Isa Murray, Betty Murray, Mary Murray, Norma Calder - Scotland. Mom had a very extended family of nieces, nephews, godchildren and their children both in Canada and Scotland who will always remember Aunt Nan. Our extended family also included Eleanor, Ken, Shannon and Blair Slater who were Mom's adoptive family by choice and will always be appreciated for their love and devotion to Mom. Mom's family and extended family were her life. People come into our lives for a reason, season, or a lifetime. In the last season of Mom's life, Kim, Nancy and Winnie made many hours enjoyable and helped both Mom and I along our final journey. The last part of the journey was at Victoria General Hospital. To the Nurses, Health Care Workers, Physio. and Doctors, words will never express what I feel in my heart for your dedication and caring. There are too many to name, but the ones with a tear in their eye know how you made life better for Mom. Dr. C., my Mom would say, "Lang May Yer Lum Reek". Mom, I will always miss you, but you will always be with me. I am very privileged to have been your daughter for a Lifetime.
