July 04, 2004

NELLIE MILLER September 3, 1914 - June 28, 2004 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, grandmother and great-grandmother on Monday, June 28, 2004 at the Grace Hospital, beloved wife of the late Ludvic Miller. She was predeceased by her husband, Ludvic in 1993; brothers, Peter and Johnny Patrick and sisters, Jessie Skolny and Jean Flatt. Left to cherish her memory is daughter Dorothy, husband Harvey Koch; son Edward and June of Sandy Hook; five grandchildren, Colin and Darryl Koch, Janice (Barry) Watt of Calgary, Glenn (Theresa) Miller of Oakbank, Douglas (Pamela) Miller of Dauphin; eight great-grandchildren, Brandon and Spencer Koch, Patrick and Andrew Watt, Emily and Kristina Miller, Brody and Benjamin Miller and many nieces and nephews. Mom was born icon and raised in the R.M. of Springfield. In 1935, she married Ludvic and moved to Winnipeg. In 1954, Mom and Dad moved to their home on St. John's Avenue, where she lived until she went into Oakview Nursing Home in March 2001. Mom loved to play bingo. Her hobbies were knitting and making beautiful pettipoint pictures, which she proudly displayed throughout her home. The family wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to the nursing staff on the third floor of Oakview Nursing Home for their loving and tender care. At Mom's request, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 8 at 11:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. with Pastor Rod Buck officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Nellie's memory to a charity of one's choice. You can only have one mother, Loving, kind and true No other friends in all the world Will be as faithful to you. For all her love and kindness She asked for nothing in return If all the world deserted us To our Mother we would turn. For those of you who have a Mother Treasure her with care For the heartache is unbearable When she is no longer there. To hear her voice, to see her smile, To sit and talk with her awhile To be together in the same old way Would be my dearest wish today. Love, your daughter Dorothy. CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL 586-8044

BRUCE GUYDA

July 05, 2004

BRUCE JOHN GUYDA Surrounded by his family, Bruce passed away at 11:58 a.m. on July 2, 2004 at the Health Sciences Centre. He leaves to cherish his memory his wife Hilary; daughter Victoria (Zenon), son Paul and his beloved grandson Patrick. Bruce was predeceased by his parents, Walter and Rose. Bruce was a devoted family man. Hilary was the love of his life and young Patrick was his pride and joy. Bruce had a passion for teaching and helping people. This of course led him to a long and successful career at Earl Grey, Grant Park and Daniel McIntyre. It was from Daniel McIntyre that he retired and then returned to substitute and take on a term position. He proved himself to be a very dedicated, caring teacher who had a tremendous impact on students and staff. His contributions to staff morale were invaluable. Bruce was definitely one the good guys. He was a great friend to all he met. His relationships were strong and lasting, he didn't just pass through. He had a way of making people feel good. It was always fun to be with Bruce and we all will have great memories of our times with him. "Tex" had an incredible and unique sense of humour, a quiet, dry wit that made everybody laugh. His kind and gentle manner and his "live life to the fullest" attitude, made you want to be with him. He was soft spoken, mild mannered, and unassuming and yet he was always right there in the centre of things, getting involved and lending his own quirky touch to the proceedings. He loved to help out and he always left a lasting and uniquely memorable impression. Bruce loved to socialize, the first one there and the last one to leave. He loved life and he lived life. He was and is loved by all those who had the privilege and honour of knowing him. He was "one of a kind" and will be terribly missed by all. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, July 7, 1:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Honorary pallbearers, George Johnston, Gordon Menzies, Bruce Silversides, Ken Kelsch, Dan Carefoot and Brian Walters. Special thanks to "Aunty Del", a.k.a. Louise with love from Thelma. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in memory of Bruce Guyda to "The Patrick Christopher Banner" Trust Fund.
