JAMES J. MOORE James Moore, aged 86 passed away on April 11, 2004 at the St. Boniface Hospital. James was born
in Winnipeg, December 29, 1917 to parents, James and Elizabeth Moore. James was married to Frieda (nee Neumann) on May 31, 1941 who predeceased him in 1989. He is survived by his friend and companion Lil Patridge; two sons, Larry and Bryan; and one daughter Robin Cushnie and their families. Jim served with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders from 1941 to 1944. He was a 45-year member of the Norwood Legion Branch 143, and a lifetime member of the Belgian Club. The family would like to thank Dr. R. Davey, W.R.H.A., home care workers, Department of Veterans Affairs and the staff of the St. Boniface Hospital for the care given to Jim and his family. Funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 15 at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Ave. Interment and reception will follow. WALTER MUCKOSY It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father and grandfather on Saturday, April 10, 2004. Walter leaves to cherish his many memories, his wife Rose, of 60 years; his children, Shirley (Gord) O'Brien and Ron; his grandchildren, Sean and Krisanne O'Brien and Pamela and Trevor Muckosy; his sisters, Mary Hnituk, Olga Ratchinsky, Ann Pedersen and Martha (John) Shymko; sisters-in-law, Anne and Helen Muckosky; brother-in-law Ed Barron; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Walter was predeceased by his brothers, Mike and Bill and his sisters, Julia (Melesko) and Nettie (Barron). Walter was born
in Arborg, MB and married Rose in 1943. Walter worked in the Flin Flon mines and later moved to Winnipeg, where he worked at Christie Biscuits for 37 years. Walter had a great love for the outdoors. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He took great pride in his gardening and enjoyed making wine from the grapes that he grew from seed. Great times were spent with his friends over coffee. He also loved to travel and enjoyed many trips with Rose. Walter was famous for his storytelling. Many family gatherings would turn to his sharing of entertaining stories on his past. Walter loved carpentry and he built two of his own homes and a cottage. He always had a project on the go. Many happy moments were spent at the cottage with family and friends. Prayers will be held on Thursday, April 15 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Friday, April 16 at 10:00 a.m. also at the Chapel. CAROLINE NIEBERGALL November 3, 1914 - April 12, 2004 Caroline Niebergall of Winnipeg passed away peacefully on April 12, 2004 at Riverview Health Centre. She is survived by sister Barbara Potyondi of Melville; brothers, Ernest (Agnes) of Yorkton and Ervin (Eleanor) of Melville. She was predeceased by sisters, Edith and Mary. She was a very proud and caring aunt to three generations of nieces and nephews. Caroline was born
and raised on a farm near Melville, SK. She moved to Winnipeg as a young woman and was employed in the occupations of seamstress and fur finisher. Retirement from Eaton's after 30 years of service was in 1980. Caroline was a woman with strong Christian values and she lived her faith through numerous volunteering activities with Lutheran Church of the Cross, Health Sciences Centre (HSC), White Cross Guild and other organizations. She received the prestigious Robert Crampton Memorial for volunteering at Health Sciences Centre. She enjoyed travelling and made many trips throughout North America both on church related activities and for personal pleasure. She visited both the east and west coasts of Canada, all provinces in between and throughout the United States including Alaska. She was an avid attendee of travelogues. Caroline always had a keen interest in gardening. Her apartments were filled with many indoor plants. Living on the fifth floor of a condominium did not deter her. It only increased the gardening options. She maintained a large balcony garden during her 20 plus years as owner of a condo. Caroline had many friends. She had fond memories of the regular Sunday after church service get-togethers that she shared with a special group of friends. Among the activities included were fellowship lunches and visits to Assiniboine Park. Funeral service will be held on Friday April 16 at 10:00 a.m. at Lutheran Church of the Cross, 560 Arlington St. with Pastor Gilbertson officiating. A reception will follow. Interment will be at Brookside Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at the Riverview Health Centre for the excellent care that was given to Caroline during her stay at the facility and the courtesy extended to the family throughout. LARRY ARTHUR OLFORD January 8, 1961 - April 9, 2004 "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends." John 15:13 On April 9, 2004 Larry Arthur Olford went home to be with his Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Larry will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Pam; his daughters, Tara, Shawna (Dion), Amanda, and Samantha; his sons, Steven and Shaun; numerous foster children that Larry cared for over the years; his father and mother, Bill and Alice Olford; his brothers, Doug and Gary Olford; numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in his heart. Larry was born
on January 8, 1961, and was raised in Transcona. He and Pam also spent time on Matheson Island. Larry currently resided in Fisher River, with his family. Larry liked to spend time with his family and in his spare time, he often took his children four-wheeling, and played games with them. He was a very loving, kind and generous man, who led a gentle life. Larry was a dedicated husband and father. He will be forever missed by all those who knew and loved him. CHARLES PAUL Mr. Charles Paul, aged 90 years, of Tyndall, MB, dearly beloved husband of Marjorie, passed away on Sunday, April 11, 2004 at the Beausejour Health Centre. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife, Marjorie of 61 years; his sons, Ron (Donna) of Winnipeg, MB, Glen (Faye) of Bonneyville, AB, Bruce (Pat) of Winnipeg, MB; his daughter Jean Campbell (Ken) of Tyndall, MB, 11 grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, David and Mary and his brothers, Peter, Jake and Dalton. We will have fond memories of his 47 years of bowling with Shining Star Bowling League. He enjoyed card games with family and friends. His love of woodworking led to many hours working in his shop making furniture and crafts for family and friends. The family wishes to thank the wonderful home care workers that cared for him the past year. Also thanks to the medical staff at the Beausejour Health Centre. There will be viewing on Wednesday, April 14 from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at Sobering Funeral Chapel, Park Ave. E. Beausejour. DEBORAH (DEBBIE) LYNN SCHNERCH Born in Gimli on October 4, 1958 - April 12, 2004 Peacefully, on April 12, 2004, Debbie passed away at the Grace Hospital at the age of 45 years. Debbie is survived by her father Arnold; brothers, Robert (Frances) and Jeffery; nephews, Nathan, Shawn (Tamara) and children, Kyle (Lindsay) and children; also many friends and relatives. She was predeceased by her mother Joyce in 1984 and brother David in 2000. BLANCHE ELLEN SCHOFIELD (nee GUDMUNDSSON/GOODMAN) January 15, 1927 - April 7, 2004 Blanche Schofield of Winnipeg, formerly of Selkirk and East Selkirk, passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital and is finally without pain. Death was no stranger to her, but she always accepted her losses graciously and went on. She always said, I'm a survivor. Mom had a myriad of jobs in her life. They were mainly centred around the food service industry. She learned a lot and made many lasting friendships. She was part of a large family: Violet, Alvin, Margaret, and the kids, Lucy, Helga and Arlene in Manitoba, and Roy in B.C. and their families. Mom was known as Auntie Blanche to so many - related by blood or spirit; she was Grandma or Amma Blanche to a select few and Grandmeow to Susie, Rose, Emma and Gracie. She loved you all, dearly, and had a special place in her heart for each and every one of you. On Tuesday, April 20 at 1:00 p.m., a memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 930 Winakwa Rd., Winnipeg, led by her dear friend Pastor Dean Andersen. Anyone who called her Auntie Blanche or Friend may consider themselves an honourary pallbearer. At a later date, she will be buried beside her beloved husband George, at St. Clement's Anglican Cemetery, Mapleton. Thank you all so much for all your love and support over the years. PETER SIEMENS It is with deep sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Peter on Monday, April 12, 2004 at the Morris General Hospital, at the age of 80 years. He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years Tina; two sons, James and Reginald (Pam), all of Burnaby, BC; daughter Angela Robert (Eugene) of Morris; granddaughters, Michelle and Kimberly Robert, both of Morris; brother Jake Siemens of Penticton, BC; three sisters, Susan Huzel of Calgary, Margaret Blehm of Meade, KS, Helen Young of Winnipeg; and numerous nieces and nephews. Peter will also be missed by many friends and extended family. He was predeceased by his father John Siemens; mother Margaret Siemens Reimer; his infant son Eugene Peter in 1957; and sisters, Betty Severson in 1957 and Donna Coates in February 2004. Peter was born
in Kleefeld in 1923 to John and Margaret Siemens (Reimer) and raised in Rosenort. He worked at Sheller Globe Industries and was involved with various volunteer organizations. He served as vice president and president and was an active member of the Morris Lions Club for many years. Peter was also involved with the Lions Cavalcade for Diabetes., the Manitoba Stampede and Exhibition, Manitoba Hunter Safety, and wherever help was needed. Peter enjoyed travelling with Tina to see their sons in British Columbia. His family was very important and he loved spending time with his granddaughters. Peter enjoyed gardening, and could most often be found tending his bounty during the summer months. Peter's family would like to thank the Morris General Hospital staff and Dr. Fraser. Thanks to the Palliative Care Unit for their gentle and caring support. A special thank you to both Kathys, Ginny, and Jim for their kindness. The funeral service will be held at the Morris United Church on Friday April 16 at 1:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Rosenort Cemetery. HARRY SNUGGS It is with sadness we announce the passing of Harry Frederick Snuggs, on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004. Harry will be missed by his loving wife Muriel; sons, Donald (Betty), Miles (Elaine) and Douglas (Val); his grandchildren, Jennifer (Kelly), Amy (Ryan), Daniel and Matthew; and great-grandson Jack. He is also survived by his sisters, Ruth, Isobel and Lucy; as well as his brother Art. Harry was predeceased by his grandson Stephen as well as his sister Dorothy and brother John. Harry was born
August 30, 1912 in Brandon, MB to Selina and Frederick Snuggs. Harry and Muriel were married in 1943 and settled in Winnipeg where they raised their family. Harry was a dedicated employee of Security Storage for 34 years. In his retirement he took up painting and won several awards at the local art shows. He was an avid cyclist and enjoyed taking his grandchildren for long bike rides. Harry will always be remembered for his kind and gentle manner, patience and sense of humour. He was a dedicated husband and father to not only his three sons but to many foster children. His grandchildren were a never-ending source of joy and pride to him. He lived for his family and we will always treasure precious memories of happy times in our hearts. Although daily life became more of a struggle in his last few years Harry showed remarkable courage and strength managing to maintain his good humour in spite of it all. The family would like to thank the staff at Oakview Place for the loving care and compassion shown to Harry over the past few years. RUTH ROSE STOBERT (nee BRODOWAY) It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our mom and grandma on Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004 at the age of 64. After a brief battle with cancer, Ruth entered into eternal rest with her family by her side. She will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, daughter Laurie Toback (Dennis) and her son Ken Feechuk; grandchildren, Shannon, Candice, Micheal and Colleen; her sister Teenie Fostey; her brother-in-law Dan Edinger; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her son Lawrence Feechuk; parents, Phillip and Ann Brodoway; brothers, Mike and John Brodoway; and sisters, Nettie Edinger and Ollie Nedohin. Ruth's family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff of the 3rd floor east wing at the Concordia Hospital for their support, kindness and excellent care in making her final days as comfortable as possible. HELEN TANNER (nee KROWIAK) We are saddened to announce the passing of our mother, Helen Tanner, in the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 11, 2004. Predeceased by her husband Leonard (Buddy) and father Joe; her memory lives on in the lives of her family: her mother Julie; her brother Kas (Chris); her sister Gloria (Ernest); her children, Marji (John), George (Judy), Kathy (Ian), David (Jody), and Lori (Lance). Helen also is fondly remembered by her twelve grandchildren, Jill, Laura, Avary, Carly, Elena, Jennifer, Darren, Devin, Paige, Rae-Lynn, Nicholas and Mitchell. Helen had a great love of art and music. She mastered the violin as a child and studied under L.L. Fitzgerald at the Winnipeg School of Art. She worked at Bison Studio first as a colourist and then as one of the first women photographers in Winnipeg to record wedding ceremonies. In 1948 she married Bud and together they had five children in each of the next three decades. Before retiring she was employed at Judith's Bridals where she made many friends. In recent years she was a member of the Winnipeg Sketch Club and sang with the choir at St. Timothy's. The service and a gathering of friends will be held on Thursday, April 15, 2004 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Timothy Parish, 135 John Forsythe Rd. The family would like to acknowledge the caring attention of the Oncology professionals at St. Boniface Hospital and the home caregivers who helped our mom stay at home as long as she did. Our sincere thanks to all the staff at Floor 3E Riverview Health Centre, and especially to Arlene for her understanding support. MARY I. THOMPSON Suddenly at her residence in Roland on Sunday, April 11, 2004 Mary I. Thompson passed away at the age of 89 years. She is lovingly remembered by two sons, Herb (Lynda) of Winnipeg and children, Douglas (Robyn), Greg (Heather), Colleen (Gord), Kim (Greg); Don (Shirley) of Swan River and children, Susan (Pat), David (Tami), Michael (Martha), Cynthia (Ivan); and daughter-in-law Connie of Roland and children, Sheila (Ted) Karen (Kent) and Tom. She is also survived by 18 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends. Mary was predeceased by her husband Fred in 1993, son Robert in 1996 and one great-granddaughter Rikki. Mother was born
at Gilbert Plains and received her formal education there. She later moved to Flin Flon where she met and married her husband Fred Thompson. Soon after they moved to Herb Lake, MB where they started their family of three boys. Latterly they moved to Dauphin before finally settling in Roland where she lived until her passing. Mom will be remembered for her strong competitive spirit whether it is her early baseball playing years her curling or her golf, all of which she enjoyed and played to the best of her ability. In her final years she looked forward to her bridge group that provided a large amount of pleasure even though you could hear her complain loudly about her lack of cards. She was a great crafts person passing on many items of crocheted, needle point and knitting to her boys their wives and grandchildren. Mom fondly remembers the times that she worked with Dad when he worked in remote places like Norway House Thompson and Bird. Where she provided them meals for the crew. Her famous butter tarts are remembered by all and to this day by her children and friends. Mom will be sadly missed by her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren not only for her great smile but also for her unselfish love that we all experienced. BYE MOM.
