1916 - 2008
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing our beloved mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend EDNA VIOLET JENSEN (nee Williams). Edna was born on May 23, 1916 in Richfield, Idaho. She will be lovingly remembered by her son Art (Clara), grandchildren Renee (Kent) Griffith and Darin (Carlee) Jensen, five great grandchildren; Kirk, Cameron, Brook, Morgan and Dylan, sisters Ruby Douglas and Myrtle Younie, sister-in-law Hilda Wilson as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Alfred, sons Elmer and Dale, parents John and Violet Williams, brothers Henry and George as well as several brothers and sisters-in-law. At Edna's request, cremation and a private family service will take place. In memory of Edna, donations may be made to S.T.A.R.S. Box 570, 1441 Aviation Avenue Park NE, Calgary, Alberta, T2E 8M7.

CHERYL JOHNSTON
1962 - 2008
CHERYL JOHNSTON, beloved wife of Mike Johnston of Lethbridge, and mother to Marcus of Coalhurst and Brianna (Evan) Seitz of Medicine Hat, passed away at the Calgary Foothills Hospital on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at the age of 46 years. She is lovingly remembered by her mother Edith Faye Cheetham of Calgary, three brothers and one sister, Jim (Beverly) Cheetham, Mike (Kristyn) Cheetham and Doug (Colleen) Birch Cheetham all of Calgary, Kathy (Brian) Mason of Williams Lake, BC, numerous nieces and nephews, special friends Erv & Joanne Fehr and family and her pets Tazz and Wicket. Cheryl was predeceased by her father Stan. Cheryl will be forever loved and forever missed by her family Friends and all those who knew her. Cheryl was born in Calgary, Alberta on March 22, 1962, to Stan and Faye Cheetham. She was welcomed by brothers Jim, Mike, Doug, and sister Kathy. She was greatly loved by all. And from the day she was born she was welcomed by the Murray family. Cheryl brought a lot of laughter and joy into the Cheetham home. She attended school at Colonel Sanders Elementary School moved on to Sir John A. MacDonald Junior High School and Graduated High School from John G. Diefenbaker High School. She was a bright light in everyone's life she touched. Her smile and laughter lit up every room she came into. Cheryl, her family and very special family friends, the Dytes and the Simas spent many weekends camping in the Waiporous Area near Cochrane, Alberta. They also spent Christmases and other holidays together. Cheryl grew up with a loving family, brothers who teased her mercilessly, and a sister who has always been her best friend. She met her husband Mike in 1979, while working at Woodwards in Market Mall in Calgary. They were married on August 22, 1981. Cheryl and Mike lived for nearly a year in Calgary, and then in June 1982, they moved to The Lethbridge Area where they began their careers, Mike in Television and Cheryl with AGT. Just over a year later, they took on new challenges in Regina, Saskatchewan. In the six years they were in Saskatchewan, they were blessed with many things. Good friends, and most of all in January1987 their first child Marcus Andrew was born. About a year and a half later they received another blessing. Brianna Marie was born in August 1988. They lived in Regina for a few more years, moving back to Calgary to be closer to family. They lived in Calgary for about a year and half. They were drawn back to the Lethbridge area, to the small town of Coalhurst, where their children went to school. Cheryl and Mike were very involved with school activities as it kept them close to their children. They watched their children grow and prosper in Coalhurst. Many of the kids' friends called Cheryl, Mom, and children loved to come by the Johnston home for good meals and lots of conversation. Cheryl and her family loved soccer. Both Marcus and Brianna played soccer for well over fifteen years for fun and competition. Cheryl loved to be close to her family, and soccer travel provided the family with lots of trips around Canada. From Kelowna to St. John's Newfoundland, Cheryl travelled to see her children play. Her real love was always children. She wanted to help children with learning problems and started a new career at Coalhurst Elementary School, as a Teacher Assistant. She went back to University and received her Teacher's Assistant Certificate. She worked while she was in school and graduated the U of C with honours. She continued her work as a Teacher's Assistant in Coalhurst, where she specialized in helping children with Fetal Alcohol Syndrome, and other severely challenged children. Cheryl was so proud of her children and family. Marcus continued with his education and his soccer at the University of Lethbridge, their daughter, Brianna, was married last year to Evan Seitz and they now reside in Medicine Hat where she is following in her mother's footsteps, pursuing a career as an Educational Assistant. At the time of her passing, Cheryl was looking forward to returning to Coalhurst Elementary and continuing on with her career as a Teacher's Assistant. We cherish every moment we had together with you, Cheryl. Life is eternal; and love is immortal And death is only a horizon; And a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight A Funeral Service will be held at COLLEGE DRIVE COMMUNITY CHURCH, 2710-College Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, October 10, 2008 at 2:30 P.M. with Pastor John Moerman officiating. DAVID DELROY JENSEN
1931 - 2007
David Delroy Jensen was born December 4, 1931 at Aetna, Alberta and passed away August 31, 2007 at Raymond, Alberta after a long and courageous battle with Parkinson's. The family wishes to thank the doctors, nurses and all staff at the Raymond Long Term Care for the loving care and support given to Dave and family. Dave was a gifted musician, and talented poet. He had a great love for the outdoors. He loved fishing and camping. He worked as a rancher and to him his job was play. What was most important to Dave was his family. He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Waltraud and their five children: Evelyn (Don) Laqua, Robert (Jennifer) Jensen, Andrew Jensen, Wayne (Debbie) Jensen, and Tammy (Erle) Teneycke, and 15 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren. His parents, Hans Christian Jensen and Zina Skriver and four sisters and one brother and two grandchildren predeceased him. One sister, Elvira (Stanley) Fuller survives him. A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 2 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Raymond Stake Centre Building, at Raymond, Alberta. Memorial donations may be made to the Parkinson's Society of Southern Alberta, 1254 3 Ave S., Lethbridge, AB T1J 0J9.

GLADYS JARVIE
2007
MRS. GLADYS JARVIE, beloved wife of Mr. Marshall Jarvie, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, September 21, 2007. Besides her loving husband Marshall, Gladys is survived by her daughter Brenda (John) Czaga of Kitimat, B.C. and granddaughter Kayla Czaga of Victoria, B.C. A Graveside Service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 2:00 P.M.

MR. PAUL KRYZANOWSKI
1920-2009
MR. PAUL KRYZANOWSKI beloved husband of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Kryzanowski, of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the age of 89 years.

He is the loving father of son Douglas (Jean) of Lethbridge, AB., daughter Sandra (Jim Fraser) of Lethbridge, AB., and granddaughter Erin Fraser of Edmonton, AB.

He is also survived by Frank Kryzanowski of Vancouver, B.C.

Paul was predeceased by brothers Peter, Alec, Jim and Tony, also, sisters Anne and Nesta.

Paul was born on July 20, 1920 at Fosston, Sask. He joined the Canadian Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. He served as a Gunner. Paul and Elizabeth Faranski were married November 8, 1946, and moved to Alberta in the mid 1950’s to Carmangay, then Coalhurst, and finally to Lethbridge at the Good Samaritans Highlands Centre.

Dad was a barber hairstylist in Carmangay where he also owned the Pool Hall and drove County of Vulcan bus for students of Carmangay to Vulcan. He continued barbering after moving to Coalhurst with a shop in his house and also a shop in Picture Butte. Towards the end of his barbering days, he worked in Lethbridge at the College Mall Barber Shop and retired in 2002.

Dad was an avid fan of the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. As well, curling was a favourite viewing past time of his, not to forget his pool shooting prowess. Throughout his retirement, Dad enjoyed travelling with his motor home with Bandee, his favourite dog, to fish and camping.

He enjoyed the outdoors and especially gardening at his home in Carmangay and then Coalhurst.

Dad was a person of quiet confidence, and always ready with a quick quip or joke and an unforgiving smile.

MARIE KUZMINSKI
1956-2009
MS. MARIE KUZMINSKI of Gibson’s Landing,Vancouver, BC, beloved daughter of Ted and Janina Kuzminski, passed away at home in BC on Saturday, December 5, 2009 of terminal Cancer at the age of 53 years.

Marie is survived by her parents Ted and Janina; sister Helena Vedres (Mark Long); niece Fayla Vedres all of Lethbridge; brother Mike (Kristen) Kuzminski; nephew Jacek Kuzminski recently of Vancouver, BC; brother Ted (Tina) Kuzminski; niece Romney Kuzminski of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Marie is also survived by her aunt Helen Blech; Helen’s daughter Jeanette (Keith) Greeno and their son Robert; Helen’s daughter Christine (Ian) Wilson and their children Janelle and Kalene.

Marie was a happy, sunny person with much optimism. Her life revolved around her love of animals and deep friendships of those who knew her. Everyone was acquainted with Marie in Gibson’s and always spoke lovingly and enthusiastically when describing her. She was loved by all. Marie will always be remembered for her infectious laugh, happy disposition and intense proudness of her animals, always being there with her kind heart and passionate words of hope and joy to everyone she encountered.

Marie first moved to Calgary at the age of 17, then moved and chose Gibson’s Landing as her final home for the past 27 years. She was strong, independent and free spirited confirming she could achieve the impossible while never doubting. She continually proved her accomplishments with her chosen goals.

Marie dedicated her love and time to the S.P.C.A. of Sechelt before being offered a full time position. The staff loved Marie and her thriving compassion for all animals and employees. The staff helped tend to Marie’s menagerie of animals during her many visits and treatments at the Vancouver Cancer Clinic. Marie, ever the concerned one for the welfare of others, would fight for strength, to be back with her family of pets so as not to impose on anyone’s good will. She continually thought of others before herself and will be remembered for her heart of gold.

Marie also had a love for the cinema. Her aspirations carried her through as an extra in the occasional local film also with the involvement with various drama clubs. She sustained much joy from her movies and television programs.

Marie was often described as a miracle. After her birth in Vilnus, Lithuania, she contracted polio proceeding 33 babies in the ward. She was the living miracle. Then again, to the amazement of her cancer specialists, she out preceded other patients with this type of Cancer, outliving them by 3 years in remission before the cancer returned.

You held on lovely one, as long as life allowed. No more is the pain that ravished your body.

No more is the fear of uncertainty. We loved all that you were. Go in peace with the freedom to live your dreams. You are finally home now.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Monday, December 14, 2009 at 7:00 P.M. with Francis and Cybele Noronha officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405-12 Avenue South Lethbridge on Tuesday, December 15, 2009 at 10:30 A.M. with Reverend Tim Boyle Celebrant.

Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

In memory of Marie, donations may be made to BC SPCA, 4376 Solar Road,
Sechelt, BC V0N 3A1.

MAY THERESA KOLESAR
1938-2009
MAY THERESA KOLESAR (NEE LEISHMAN) of Lethbridge passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, in the early morning hours of December 7, 2009. May is survived by her beloved children Dianne, Darlene and David, along with her three special grandchildren Justin, Jared and Samantha.

May was born October 27, 1938 in Lethbridge and is the daughter of Thomas and Helen Leishman. She was raised in Lethbridge and has fond memories of playing with neighborhood friends many of whom she is still friends with over sixty years later. She treasured having these friendships and felt blessed to have the same people in her life for so long a time. May loved sports all of her life. She played sports throughout her school years and she was most proud of being a member of the LCI Clipper Queens who won provincial basketball championships in the 1950s coached by one of her favorite teachers Marge Clarke. She also loved playing softball from an early age. May later was one of the original organizers of the local softball association in the seventies and coached various city championship teams into the eighties. Later in life, she fondly reminisced about watching live from field level as her Yankees played their final games in the old Bronx stadium. May was active in the lives of both her children and grandchildren and could always be found at their fields, classrooms, gymnasiums, arenas or theatres, supporting their endeavors, cheering them on and encouraging them to excel in their efforts.

She will be remembered warmly by both her co-workers from her time at TransAlta and her many close friends and long-time neighbors.

A heartfelt thanks to all the medical staff who showed caring, concern and support to May and our family during this time. A special thanks also to all the pharmacists and staff at Skelton's Pharmacy who May always spoke so highly about!

To honour May's request, a Private Service will be held on Thursday, December 10th, 2009.
