Rose Mirus
ROSE MARIE MIRUS (nee CHRZANOWSKI) It is with love and sadness we announce the passing of our dear mother, Rose Mirus, suddenly on January 23, 2001 at the age of 86, while visiting with family in California. Rose was predeceased by her husband John in 1994. Left to mourn her passing are her three children, Audrey Sharp, John Mirus (Marge), and Tom Mirus (Christine). Grandchildren are Keith (Anne), Carrie (Martin), Cheryl (Bob), Pamela, Jason (Holly), Adam (Donna), and Travis. Great-grandchildren, Alex, Katy, Emily, Sine, David, Nathalie, Craig, Melissa, Carli, Amber, Kirstin, and Nege. Rose is also survived by her brother Frank Chase of London, ON, and her very special sister Lucy Houghton. She will also be sadly missed by many special nieces and nephews. Rose grew up in Winnipeg on Selkirk Avenue, where her happy home with her brothers and sisters was also known as one of the finest seamstress shops in Winnipeg, a business ran by her mother. Many a bride and bridesmaid passed through that house. After marrying her husband John, Mom was blessed with three healthy children. In the early days Mom was a wonderful homemaker and, as well, a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Canadian Ukrainian Athletic Club (C.U.A.C.), a place well known to many North Enders. Mom later began working at Clifford's Ladies Wear for many years followed by several years at Ricki's Ladies Wear. She had a very obvious talent in fashion and dress, especially so when it came to bridal parties. She truly enjoyed her work in the retail fashion business. As long as Mom lived she always prided herself in looking her best. Often at any special occasion or wedding, many a person noted her beautiful style of dressing and the special way she carried herself. Mom's looks belied her age, most likely due to her young at heart outlook and positive attitude. As a mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, aunty and sister, Mom touched many lives. She was a very special person to many family and friends. Rarely did she miss a birthday party for the little ones or a wedding or other social evening. Mom loved going out for lunch in her latter years (never a rushed affair) and would chat for hours with her lunch mates, usually one of her family who was gladly spending time with Mom, Nana, or Aunty Rose. Mom spent many, many summers at Winnipeg Beach at the family cottages. Many of the family's children spent time there too. It was a special place for Mom and it was a special place for others when Mom was there. Mom was strong advocate of what she considered good morals, ethics and even proper dress for the right occasion. Beware the person who would dare wear jeans to the Christmas Dinner. The success of Mom's family members was always a personal success to Mom as well. She was very boastful of her family's accomplishments and truly filled with pride because of them. Mom spent a month almost every year visiting her daughter and family in California, something she truly loved doing. She also travelled to many places such as Hawaii, Japan and England with her daughter and revelled in the great pleasure these trips gave her. Prayers will be held on Sunday, January 28 at 7:00 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, January 29 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua Roman Catholic Church, 250 Burrin Ave. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Keith Sharp, Jason Mirus, Adam Mirus, Travis Mirus; and great-grandsons, Alex Sharp, Craig Fredericks-Mirus and David Schlakjar. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Mom's memory to the Seven Oaks General Hospital Foundation, 2300 McPhillips St., Winnipeg, MB R2V 9Z9. Heaven has gained an elegant, loving lady, our mentor, our friend our Mother. "Rest in peace, Mom We love you." CROPO FUNERAL CHAPEL in care of arrangements, 586-8044

He was the lifelong best friend and devoted husband of Jeanne (Sloboda) for 49 years and nine months. He was the loving father of two children, Laurence of Colorado Springs, CO, and Wendy (Steven Friend) of Deep Creek Lake, MD. He adored his granddaughters, Stephannie Alexis and Carly Goevanne. Affectionately known as Harv, he was born
in Winnipeg on November 27, 1930. He is preceded in death by his father Jack in 1989 and his beloved mother Gertrude (Rosenblat) in 1959. He lives on in the memory of his younger brothers, Marvin (Noreen) of Winnipeg and Allan (Hester) of Victoria, BC; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews; dear cousins and remaining aunts. He will be greatly missed by all of his family and friends. Harvey traveled to many areas of the United States, and on assignment, to Africa with his work as an electrical engineer. For the past 14 years he lived in Port Richey, FL. A man of cheerful nature and positive attitude, Harvey always had a warm smile and a tender heart. He made many friends along the way, took pleasure in his work, and his family. An active member for many years of the Lions Club, he freely volunteered his time to help others. He was also a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Harv was quietly courageous as his health turned, never one to complain, he was always grateful for each day. The companionship and encouragement of his devoted wife helped to make his days comfortable. Religious services were held in his home on Sunday, December 31. His memory will be cherished by those who loved him. There is an angel watching over you in good times, trouble or stress. His wings are wrapped round about whispering you are loved and blessed. And G_d said to Moses, "you cannot see my face, but my goodness shall go before you." That goodness was our Harv. Chaim Wolf, husband, father, zaida, son, brother, uncle, nephew, cousin and friend. The family gratefully acknowledges those who have shown their care by cards, phone calls and remembrances.
