HARRIET CHERRY (NEE DUGDALE) Peacefully, at the Golden Links Lodge, Mom passed away on January 21, 2001. Left with memories of her are her sister June and brother-in-law Charlie; her son Stew and daughter-in-law Hilda and daughter Rae and "special grandkids", Dan and Tim and their families. Hal was predeceased by her parents, Alfred and Rachel; her brother Brian and sister Margaret. Our family wishes to thank the staff of the Golden Links Lodge Special Needs Unit and the 1st floor ward for their wonderful care of Mom and us during her stay with them. We extend our appreciation to the Home Care Services and in particular to Bernice. Special thanks to Lorraine and Ron Kozub, Charlotte Murrell, Pat Woolley and the St. Alban's Church Visitation Group for their timely visits, cards, flowers, gifts and prayers. Mom loved her family, loved to travel and was blessed with many friends. She will be fondly remembered. CAROL ANNE DOYLE (nee PEABODY) It is with great sadness the family announces the sudden passing of Carol Doyle, beloved wife of Patrick, on Saturday, January 20, 2001 at the Health Sciences Centre, Winnipeg, at the age of 62. Besides her husband Patrick of 44 years, she leaves to cherish her memory her dear mother Lil Peabody; sister Shirley and husband Allan Bircham; niece Sharon and her family of Calgary, AB; nephews, Dean and his family of London, England, Allan and his family, and Gary and his family of Winnipeg; along with other family, friends and neighbours. Carol was predeceased by her father William in 1966, and brother William in 1982. Carol was born
on July 29, 1938 and grew up in the West End of Winnipeg where she attended school. She was employed at the Health Sciences Centre - Children's Centre for 25 years, retiring in 1989. Carol enjoyed her retirement, especially the trips to the States, time with family and friends at the lake, taking care of her and her mom's garden, and learning to drive. She loved photography and the family will cherish the lovely albums she created. Carol loved animals and even as a young girl, would bring home strays. She always had pets and considered them part of her family. She will be sadly missed by her special dog Penny, who she loved dearly. A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 24 at 11:30 a.m at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St., Winnipeg. OLIVE (ALBINA) DUECK It is with great sorrow that the family of Olive (Albina) Dueck, nee Kopecki, announces her passing on Sunday, January 21, 2001 at the age of 68. Olive was predeceased by her parents, Emilie and Stanislaw Kopecki, and brother Stanley. She will be sadly missed, always loved and remembered by her husband of 44 years, Pete; children, Darren (Kelly), Darcy (Jackie), Wanda (Gord), Brenda (Pat); grandchildren, Riley, Kimberly, Nicholas, Matthew, Kelsey, Adam, Dylan and Miranda; sisters, Betty (Ted), Mary (Gord); brother Wenclas, as well as numerous nephews, nieces, sisters and brothers-in-law. Olive was born
in Czechoslovakia and immigrated to Canada at four years of age. Her family settled in Minitonas, Manitoba. She moved to Winnipeg as a young woman, married Pete in 1956, had four children, and moved to the Cooks Creek Area to raise their family. Olive devoted her entire life to her husband, their children and their grandchildren. She cherished them all dearly. She will be sadly missed by many friends as her love and devotion have touched many hearts over the years. Special thanks to Nurse Kathy, Dr. Bow and staff at the H.S.C. JOHN (IWAN) DUNAJ John passed away peacefully after a long struggle with cancer on January 21, 2001 at the Grace Hospital. He was predeceased by his wife Rose in 1995. He leaves to cherish his memory his two sisters; several nieces and nephews and other extended family in Ukraine. He also leaves behind his two brothers-in-law, Joe (Mildred) and Robert (Monique) Marciszyn, and nieces and nephews all of Moose Jaw. HELEN GRAY Mrs. Helen Gray, widow of late Archie B. Gray of Stonewall passed away at Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital, Saturday, January 20, 2001. She was mother of Diana (Dan) Stephens of Guelph, Ont., Jim (Carol), Gordon (Sharon) of Stonewall, and Bruce (Bev) of Calgary, Alta.; grandmother of Beth Stephens, Susan (Dave) Wilson, Sherri (Terry) Barnes, Dale (Kim), Terry (Chantelle), Catherine, Sydney, Stephen, Timothy, and Aynsley Gray. She was great-grandmother to Sean, Christopher, Michael Gray; Brian and Julie Wilson, and Owen Barnes. Her sisters, Janet of Pointe Claire, Quebec, and Frances Lowe and her sister-in-law Jaunty Lowe of Stonewall will miss Helen. Helen was born
in Roleau, Sask. on October 5, 1910 and became a resident of Stonewall in March, 1945 when the family operated a fur farm located on land surrounding their fieldstone home. The original farmland is now the Rockwall Estates development on the western edge of the town. She was an avid gardener and landscape "visionary". The grounds surrounding the fieldstone home soon became a landmark of beauty under her hand. She enjoyed the local community activities and was a member of the ladies section of the curling club, as well as an eager participant in the United Church Women's group. In addition, volunteered her services whenever she was able. She was employed as librarian at Stonewall schools, and later became secretary to the division superintendent. Following her retirement from those activities, she, along with her late husband, became very proficient at training Labrador Retrievers. Together they traveled to many field trial events as participants, winning their share of awards with their dogs. In her later years, she was a resident of Stonewood Place Seniors Residence. Her family wishes to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation to the home care staff of Stonewood Place, as well as the private care staff that worked with Helen. Their uncompromising care and attention to her needs was appreciated. The physicians and nursing staff at Dr. Evelyn Memorial Hospital are to be commended for their exceptional care and understanding in making Helen Gray's last days as comfortable as possible. Their care and attention went well beyond the family's expectations. A memorial funeral service will be held at Stonewall United Church on Friday, January 26 at 2:00 p.m. Rev. in Westbourne, Man., grew up in Lundar and later moved to Winnipeg where he worked for many years at Keystone Fisheries. Halldor was predeceased by his wife Gunnfridur (1986), son John (1985), three brothers and two sisters. He is survived by his daughter Eleanor Narick (Ros) and their children Nancy (Andrew), Narda (Don) and Joanne, son Roy and his children David (Kathy) and Danny, daughter-in-law Margaret of B.C. and her children Jeffrey of Seattle and Leslie (Wode) of B.C., two great-grandchildren, four sisters, Sigga Freeman, Emily Osinski, Grace Nunn and Pearl Heppenstall as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Funeral Service for Halldor will be held on Wednesday, January 24 at 2:00 p.m. in The First Lutheran Church, 580 Victor St. with Pastor Michael Kurtz officiating.
