CAMERON, Anne Violet - 103, of Windsor, passed away on Tuesday, April 6, 2004, at the Windsor Elms Senior Citizens Home, Windsor. Born on November 26, 1900, in Hopewell, Pictou Co., she was a daughter of the late John and Mary (Balfour) Cameron. Anne came to the Windsor Elms, when it opened in 1966, she was the longest resident at the home and when she turned 100, she was honored by having dedicated to her, “The Anne Cameron Room”. She had taught school in Nova Scotia for five years. After nursing training in St. Luke’s Hospital, New York, she returned to Boston and worked there as a nurse, except for two years residence in Knoxville, Tenn. She was a member of the Windsor United Church. She is survived by grand nieces, Judy (Larry) Bradley, Goose Bay, NL.; Jan Van Vlack (Steve Hatfield), Picton, ON. Besides her parents, she was predeceased by brother, William F. Cameron; sisters, Laura Cameron, Florence (Mrs. J.F. Gillespie). Cremation has taken place under the care of Lindsay’s Windsor Funeral Home, 194 King St., Windsor. No visitation by request. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, April 12, 2004, in the Douglas Room, Windsor Elms, with Rev. William Pope officiating, assisted by Chaplain Linda Townsend. Interment will be held at a later date at the Lorne Cemetery, Pictou Co. No flowers by request, donations may be made to the Windsor Elms.

CAMPBELL, Kenneth Hugh - Stellarton, passed away Monday, April 5, 2004, in Aberdeen Hospital, New Glasgow. Born in Halifax, he was a son of the late Frank and Edith (Fry) Campbell. He was a former employee of the New Glasgow Foundry, R. MacGregor & Sons, and Maritime Beverages. He was a member of the Stellarton Fire Department. Kenneth is survived by his wife, the former Anna Watters, Stellarton; daughters, Claire (Robert) MacFarlane, Lynn (Fred) Rockey, both of Stellarton; sons, Brian (Heather), Dwight (Susan), both of Stellarton; Harvey (Kim), Little Harbour; 10 grandchildren; brother, Rae (Barbara), Stellarton. He was predeceased by a daughter in infancy Linda Claire. Public visitation will be 6-9 p.m. today in H.C. MacQuarrie Funeral Home, Stellarton. There will be no memorial service by request. Interment will be held at a later date. Family flowers only please. Donations to Heart and Stroke Foundation of Nova Scotia.
CARR, Marjorie Isobel - 95, formerly of Scarborough, Ont., passed away April 9, 2004, in Oakwood Terrace Nursing Home, Dartmouth. Beloved mother of Bill and dear grandmother of Erin and David. Marjorie is survived by her brother, Clare, Uxbridge Ont. Marjorie was predeceased by her loving husband, Edward. Cremation will take place in J. Albert Walker Funeral Home, Dartmouth, with services and Burial in Scarborough, Ont. at a date to be determined. MIRIAM ADLER Our loving mother, Miriam Adler, 83, of Sun City, AZ, passed peacefully January 19, 2001. She was born
in Winnipeg, MB and moved to Red Lake, ON, St. Cloud, MN, and Rochester, MN. She resided in Sun City for the past 10 years. Miriam was honoured for her 20 years of service at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN. She is survived by her children, Sandra Adler of Las Vegas, NV, Elaine (Adler) Zuker of Irvine, CA, Robert Adler of Pebble Beach, CA, Patti (Adler) Benjamin of Los Angeles, CA, Wendy (Adler) Robinson of Minneapolis, MN; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Services will be held Wednesday, January 24 at Mount Sinai Memorial Park in Los Angeles. Memorials may be sent to Jewish National Fund.

Frank Beavis
FRANK BEAVIS On Sunday, January 21, 2001, our beloved husband and father passed away at the Meadowood Manor, at the age of 82. He will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by his loving wife, Gladys, of 57 years; daughters, Joyce Mansfield and her husband Walter, Diane Nyp and her husband Henry, of Sarnia, Ont.; sister-in-law Alice Beavis; as well as several nieces and nephews. Frank was predeceased by his brother Alfred and his sister Grace. Born in 1918, Frank served in the R.C.A.F. from 1942 - 1945. He was employed by H.L. Perry and the C.N.R. for ten years, and Greater Winnipeg Gas Co. for 25 years, retiring in 1983. He was an avid bowler, curler, and golfer and served as president of the Senior Bowling League for seven years, winning 35 trophies and three other championships. A quiet, loving man, Frank seemed to be at his best while enjoying his hobby, building his model railroad. He was a devoted and caring father and husband and will be greatly missed by his many friends, too numerous to mention. A memorial service will be held on Thursday January 25 at 12:30 p.m., at the Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue, with Doctor Arthur Thompson officiating. HUGH MILLAR BELL January 1, 1917 - January 20, 2001 84 years Peacefully left us at the St. Boniface Hospital, Saturday morning around 3:00 a.m. Hugh lived a full life spending his younger days 1937 to 1940 in New York playing for the A.H.L. affiliate of the New York Americans of the N.H.L. From 1940 to 1945, Hugh served in Her Majesty's Navy in the Second World War, at which time he played hockey for the Navy in England with N.H.L. player such as Charlie Conacher. Hugh returned to Winnipeg and started his career at C.P.R. Freight Sheds for 25 years. He is survived by three children, Garry, Dawn and Lorraine. Hugh was predeceased by his loving wife Frances. They leave behind her five children, Jeanette Grymaluk, Diane Martin, Don Zinkowski, Johanne O'Brien and Deborah Dworan; 15 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren. MARY ELEANOR BORTHWICK Peacefully, on Sunday, January 21, 2001, our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Mary Eleanor Borthwick, passed away at the Middlechurch Home of Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband John Charles in 1991; brother Charles Harry Say in 1991; and grandson Rodney Bruce Downs in 1991. Mary will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Kathleen Eleanor Downs (Colin) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Michael John Downs (Roxy), Deborah Anne Genung (Evan), Colleen Mary Haglund (Patrick); six great-grand-children; sister Kathleen May Sigurdson; special friends, Irene Charleton and Betty Prendergast; nephews and nieces. She was a longtime member of the Cathedral of St. John's. Mom loved bowling for the Cardinal Ladies and the Prince Edward Ladies. She enjoyed baking and sewing and will be missed by all. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, January 23 at 10:00 a.m. at the Cathedral of St. John's, 135 Anderson Ave. with The Very Rev. Dean Bob Osborne officiating. Interment will follow in Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Honorary pallbearers will be Evan Genung and Patrick Haglund. James Brown
THE VENERABLE JAMES RUSSELL BROWN Born in South Shields, County Durham, England, on November 11, 1919, and died on January 15, 2001 in Burnley, Lancashire, England, following a brief illness. James R. Brown was ordained into the Anglican Priesthood in 1943, and remained in active ministry all his life, serving in churches in England, the United States, and Canada, including St. Matthew's, St. Peter's and All Saints in Winnipeg. He also had a great interest in theological education, teaching at Nashotah House seminary in Wisconsin, and as Warden of St. John's College at the University of Manitoba, as well as conducting many courses for the Laity. Jim will be sadly missed by his wife of 54 years, Kay, daughter Elizabeth, son Michael (Nancy) and dog Patti, also well as five sisters and many nieces and nephews in the United Kingdom. A requiem was celebrated in Burnley by Jim's cousin, the Right Reverend John Goddard, Bishop of Burnley, on January 18, 2001. A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, January 27, 2001 at All Saints Anglican Church at 2:00 p.m. Burial of his ashes will be at Nashotah House at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made the the "Friends of John's" scholarship fund at St. John's College, or to the Winnipeg Humane Society.
