SNJOLAUG (SNOWY) LILLIAN PETERSON Snowy Peterson, aged 97 years passed away peacefully with her loving family at her side on Friday, December 10, 2004 at the Gimli Betel Home. LASZLO PONGRACZ

LASZLO PONGRACZ Sr. September 6, 1924 - December 9, 2004 At the age of 80 years Laszlo Sr. passed away peacefully surrounded by those who loved him. Those left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years Irene; children, Frank, Zoltan (Sally), Geza (Gloria), Anna Maria and Elizabeth; and many grandchildren. He is also survived by two sisters living in Hungary; and his cousin Olga Pongracz (Toth). Laszlo was predeceased by his parents; three brothers; and eldest son Laszlo Jr. Laszlo was born icon in Hungary in 1924. He lived in Mosonmagyarovar where he met Irene in 1947 and they were married in 1948. In 1957 he immigrated with his family to Canada, eventually settling in Winnipeg. Laszlo worked hard to provide for his family and was employed at Bay Bronze Industries until his retirement in 1988. Laszlo's support of his children and grandchildren continued until his final days. In his younger days, Laszlo was an avid fisherman, bowler, ping pong player, and gained a lot of enjoyment dancing at social events. His enjoyment of sporting events also included football and hockey; he attended many Bomber and Jets games. Laszlo continued to have strong ties to both the Hungarian community and the Hungarian church throughout his life. In celebration of their 50th anniversary Laszlo and Irene returned for a visit to Hungary in 1998. They reaffirmed their love by renewing their marriage vows at St. Laszlo Church where they were wed in 1948. They also had the opportunity to visit family members and many old friends while they were there. The family would also like to express their heartfelt appreciation and thanks to all of the staff at Palliative Care Manitoba and CancerCare Manitoba, with a special thank-you to Dr. Houston and his assistant Barbara. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, December 11 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Anthony of Padua (Hungarian) Roman Catholic Church, 365 Burnell St., with viewing at 10:30 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Laszlo's memory to the Cancer Society, Palliative Care Manitoba, or the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation. LLOYD PRIMMER

LLOYD MARSHALL PRIMMER Lloyd Marshall Primmer passed away peacefully on December 9, 2004 at Concordia Place. Lloyd is sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his wife of 49 years, Norah; his children, Joyce and Tony (Whitehorse), Jim, Marsha (Winnipeg), May and Vern (Fort Saskatchewan), Margaret and Percy (Prawda), Dan and Judy (Saskatoon); 14 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren filled his life with energy, laughter and love. Lloyd was born icon in Cardale, MB on May 5, 1913 to Helen and Marshall. He farmed there next to Uncle Ross, until we moved to Transcona in 1963. He is survived by sister Dorothy; sister-in-law Bunty and brother-in-law Frank. Dad really enjoyed farming, curling, playing cards with Ross and travelling with Mom. Lloyd was certainly loved and enjoyed life to the fullest. Lloyd was cherished by the caring staff of D1 Unit of Concordia Place. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 18 at 1:30 p.m. at Transcona Memorial United Church, 209 Yale Ave., West. MERLE REICHERT

MERLE "TEDDY" GLADYS MARGARET REICHERT (nee LYON) September 27, 1915- December 7, 2004 Peacefully, as she lived her life, Teddy left us in soul but not in memories. She was affectionately known as Teddy for her love of teddy bears since her youth. She leaves behind, sons, Dwight (Michelle), Douglas (Sandie); grandchildren, Lisa, Bradley, Jonathan, Adam; great-grandson Noah; niece Bonnie Stollard; nephews, Wade and Dan Gargan; as well as many other nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was predeceased by husband Bill in June 1987; daughter Heather Dawn; sister Mildred Gargan (Babs); two brothers, Ed and Russell Lyon. Teddy was born icon outside Ottawa in Murcheson Township. She grew up on a farm near Medicine Hat before her family moved to Winnipeg, where she met her husband Bill. Teddy dedicated herself to her husband and the rearing of her two sons. Her love of animals stayed with her from a child. She spent all her spare time riding and caring for her horses, dogs and cats. She also loved to gather with friends and family for a good old sing-song. At 81 years, she started going to karaoke to belt out a tune for her many friends and admirers. She also shared many stories about her pets and her home on the river in Charleswood. Always smiling and humming a tune, she was a gentle and loving wife, mother, sister and aunt. Never judging, accepting everyone for themselves, Teddy will be deeply missed by her family and many friends. JAMES ALBERT ROGALSKY April 11, 1951 - December 9, 2004 It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of our son and brother, Jim at the St. Boniface Hospital on December 9, 2004 at the age of 53. Jim will be lovingly remembered by his parents, Jake and Helen Rogalsky; sisters, Edna (Kevin) Closs, Karen (Wilf) Harms of Calgary, and brother Andy (Laura) of Glenlea; nieces and nephews, Allison and Adam Closs, Kristin, Michael and Lauren Harms, Stefan and Derrick Rogalsky; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Jim enjoyed his work at Industrial Workshop, J. I. Dyck Lawn and Garden Tools, Red River Chain, and Palliser Furniture (WASO). He also loved to go bowling and curling with friends while he was still able. The family wishes to thank the pastors and church family of Glenlea Mennonite Church for their prayers and support. KAREN LYNN RUSSON (nee JOYCE) Peacefully, on Monday, December 6, 2004, Karen passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 57 with her family by her side. She was predeceased by her beloved father Thomas Joyce Jr. She will be dearly missed by her mother Creta; her sons, Don (Linda) and Dale; grandson Matthew; brothers, Jim (Bonny), Larry (Karen), Tom (Wendy); nieces, nephews and families and her very dear friend Kerry. Her last 11 years were enriched by the friends and staff of Luther Home where she will be sadly missed. She meant so much to so many of us. To her parents she was the apple of their eye. To her brothers, a source of strength and humour. To her sons, she was Mother. To her extended family and friends, a resource in times of need. To the communities in which she lived, she was an open door through which a safe haven could always be found. Sincere gratitude to the staff of Unit 5, fifth floor, Seven Oaks Hospital, Luther Home and "Aunt Alecia" for their love, care and support. In lieu of flowers, the family asks individuals to hug their loved ones and keep them close when they return home tonight. HELEN SARAMAGA

HELEN SARAMAGA (nee Harasymec) Peacefully on Wednesday, December 8, 2004, Helen passed away at the Beausejour Hospital at the age of 85 years, with her family by her side. Helen will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Don (Lorraine) and their children, Cheryllynn (Dennis Martai) and Ryan (Cheri), Robert (Stephanie) and their children, Cathy (Kelly Mackereth) and Andrew (Diane Drader). She is also survived by her youngest sister Olga Skura, sister-in-law Nellie Harasymec, brother-in-law Fred Dudych and many nieces and nephews. Helen was predeceased by her beloved husband of 49 years, Paul in 1989. She was also predeceased by brothers and sisters, Mary Horodny, Polly Lyzun, Steve Harasymec, Ann Shalay, Eva Dudych and Dan Harasymec. Helen was born icon on March 15, 1919 in Cooks Creek, MB to Stephan and Mary Harasymec. Her mother passed away when Helen was 8 years old and she was immediately called on to help in the care of her younger siblings. Helen and Paul were married in 1940 and they spent their subsequent years building their farm in the (Sapton) Hazelridge area, growing all types of grains and livestock, and raising their family. In 1976 they "retired" to their new home on land adjacent to their original farmstead. Here Helen and Paul enjoyed tending to their yard landscaping and fruit trees, gardening, and spending time overindulging their grandchildren. They also enjoyed travelling, including trips to Palm Springs, Florida, Hawaii, and a special trip to the Ukraine where they toured and visited relatives living "in the Old Country". Helen was a quiet, kind and gentle person. She had a special way with animals as was obvious from her tender treatment over the years of numerous cows, calves, puppies and kittens. Her adopted dog "Boomer" and her doorstep "pussies" were the latest manifestation of this tenderness. Helen was an excellent cook and meals were always special whether it was a festive occasion, Sunday dinner with family and friends or a humongous field lunch. Grandma always took time and care to make everyone's favourites. Aside from looking after her family, Helen was most happy working in her vegetable and flower gardens and showing them off to everyone who visited, often sending them home with containers of produce, strawberries, raspberries or pickles and preserves. Prayers will be said on Sunday, December 12 at 7:30 p.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel, 1442 Main St. Funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13 at 10:00 a.m. at the Ukrainian Orthodox Metropolitan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, 1175 Main St. with Rev. Fr. Alexander Harkavyi officiating. Interment to follow in Sapton Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ryan Saramaga, Andrew Saramaga, Dennis Martai, Richard Skura, Eugene Harasymec and Ken Harasymec. EDWARD SCHALLA November 16, 1930- December 8, 2004 It is with great sorrow that the family of Edward Schalla announces his death on Wednesday, December 8, 2004 at the age of 74 years. He will be remembered by his wife of 43 years, Esther; sons, Brian (Rita) and Kevin (Sandra); grandchildren, Ricky, Jason, Jeffrey, Shawn and Tyler. He is survived by his brother Ferdinand; sisters, Anne Vogt, Louisa (Dave) Falk and Eva McLaury; sister-in-law Suzie; brother-in-law Pete Harder; and many nieces, nephews and good friends. He was predeceased by his parents Friedrich and Augustina; brothers, Johan, August, William and Herman; sister Maria Harder; brothers-in-law, Don McLaury and John Vogt; and sisters-in-law, Clara, Joan and Barbara. Dad was born icon in Steinbach, MB. He began his plumbing career in Steinbach where he was employed by Barkman Plumbing & Heating. In 1954, he moved to Winnipeg and was employed by J.W. Bodner Company. He married Esther on September 9, 1961. In 1967, Dad began Brookdale Plumbing & Heating Ltd. with his brother-in-law John Vogt. He retired in 1992. Ed enjoyed working outdoors and travelling. He especially enjoyed the times spent with family and friends at their cabin in Petersfield. He was a dedicated family man who loved his family and spoiled his grandchildren. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 13, at 2:00 p.m. at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 2528 King Edward St., with Rev. Jan Pastucha officiating. Viewing will take place one half-hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Chapel Lawn, 4000 Portage Ave. Pallbearers will be his grandchildren Ricky, Jason and Jeffrey; nephews Darrell Schalla, Ray Schalla and Mike Matwiy. The family wishes to thank the staff of Seven Oak Hospital, especially Dr. Finlayson and the nursing staff on the 5th floor, for the excellent care Dad received and for their kindness to the family. JEFFERY MILES SCHNERCH Peacefully on December 5, 2004, Jeffery passed away at Seven Oaks Hospital at the age of 35 years. He was predeceased by his mother Joyce; brother David; sister Deborah and infant brother Garry. DR. SAMUEL SEETNER It is with great sadness we announce the passing of Samuel Seetner on Thursday, December 9, 2004 at North General Hospital in his 84th year. He is survived by his devoted wife Ilse of 60 years; and loving father and father-in-law of Gerald and Anne Marie Seetner, Brian and Cathy Seetner and Mark Seetner. Devoted grandfather of Heidi, Leah, Michael, Erica and Emma Seetner. Brother and brother-in-law of Barney and Pearl Seetner. Sam was born icon in 1920 in Winnipeg, MB. He graduated from Dentistry at the University of Toronto in 1943. He had a long and successful career as a dentist. Practising his craft for 56 years. His love for the arts and skill as a concert pianist were well known. At the age of 19 he wrote a full length musical comedy that was produced originally by the University of Manitoba. In 1939 and reprised again for the 100th anniversary of the University of Manitoba in February, 2001. At Benjamin's Park Memorial Chapel, 2401 Steeles Ave. W. (two lights west of Dufferin St.), Toronto, for service on Sunday, December 12 at 1:00 p.m. Interment, Bathurst Lawn Memorial Park in the Moldover section. ARGYLE SNEESBY

ARGYLE CURTIS SNEESBY Argyle Curtis Sneesby passed away peacefully on Monday, November 22, 2004, at the Neepawa Health Centre with his wife Elizabeth and Rev. Joe Ball at his side. Argyle was born icon February 12, 1926, in the old Neepawa Hospital. He lived in the districts of Glenholm and Winchester with his parents Albert and Jane Sneesby, five brothers and seven sisters. He received his education at Winchester School. Argyle moved with his family to Woodside in 1944. That fall he enlisted with the Queen's Own Cameron Highlanders, later transferring to the Royal Canadian Engineers where he served as a stationary engineer until 1946. Argyle returned to Neepawa in 1954 and married Elizabeth Vatcher on August 24, 1955, in the Neepawa United Church. Neepawa has been their home ever since. He worked for Neepawa Truck Service, MacDougall's Garage, and retired in 1988 after 15 years at the Neepawa & District Memorial Hospital. Those years at the Neepawa Hospital were his happiest as he enjoyed his work and fun times with his friends in all hospital departments. The hospital was always "home" to him. In 1990 he persuaded Elizabeth to start their business "Herbs for Health" and took an active part until his illness. He was predeceased by his parents; brothers, Charles and Bruce; sisters, Thelma, Barbara, Beatrice Jean and Darlene Pearl. He is survived by his loving wife and best friend, Elizabeth; "special family" Kerilyn and Kirk Pitaoulis, Janine Bamlett (fiance Kirt MacLean), Yvonne and John Bamlett; brothers, Arthur (Elma), Angus (Lorrie) and Gerald (Jackie); sisters, Doris (Lorne) Buchanan, Grace and Phyllis; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends. Argyle was a member of the Neepawa and District Wildlife Association, and a 50 year member of the Neepawa Branch No. 23 of the Royal Canadian Legion. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, curling and golf. He and Elizabeth enjoyed many business trips to various parts of North America, and pleasure trips to Prince Edward Island to visit friends and relatives. Interment was at the Riverside Cemetery, Neepawa, on Friday, November 26 with a Legion Honour Guard and Salute. A memorial service followed at the Neepawa United Church. Rev. Joe Ball officiated, assisted by Brent Buchanan. A loving tribute to "Uncle" was shared by his special girls, Kerilyn and Janine. As requested by Uncle Argyle, James and Erin Sneesby played a violin duet "Amazing Grace." Friends who wish may make a donation in memory of Argyle to the Westman Dreams for Kids Foundation, 1435 Princess Ave., Brandon, MB R7A 0R6, or to a charity of choice. GAIL STEVENSON (MOGK) (nee WILSON) Peacefully, after a long battle with cancer, on December 9, 2004 with her family by her side Gail Stevenson passed away at the Riverview Health Centre at the age of 63 years. Our loving mother, nana, and sister will be greatly missed and always remembered by her children, Laura (Michael) Habina, Casey (Natalia) Mogk; grandchildren, Branden, Courtney, Olena, Christine, and John; sister Barbara (Elmer) Watson; stepchildren, Rob, Cliff, Sylvia (Danny), Mike (Shelley), Angela (John); stepgrandchildren, Tex, Marlowe, and Georgine; brother-in-law Sam (Jean) Stevenson; and nephews, Rick (Terra) and Rob Watson. Gail was predeceased by her first husband Ross Mogk; second husband Bob Stevenson; parents Sadie and Clary Wilson; and niece Leslie Baxter.
