RAYMOND HABING
RAYMOND WESLEY EVERETT HABING It is with great sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather Raymond Wesley Everett Habing on December 8, 2004. Predeceased by daughter Edith Anne; son-in-law Robert Anderson; mother and father-in-law Edith and Frank Cowham; sister-in-law Beatrice Poole; parents, Fred and Elizabeth; siblings, Lawrence, Gerald and wife Maude, Virgil, Norman, Floyd and wife Alice; brother-in-law Kitchener Wainman. Remaining to cherish his memory is his loving wife Blanche; his children, Patricia Anderson (Richard), Clifford (Margie), Will (Jackie), Brenda Veitch (Blaine). His grandchildren, Scott, Kim and Erin Anderson, Christopher Habing (Pam), Stacey Walterson (Mark), Brendan and Brittany Habing, Kari, Chelsey and Rylan Veitch; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Bruce; brothers, Mern (Anne), Leonard (Pearl); sisters, Violet Ward (Ross), June Wainman and many nieces and nephews. Dad was born
on April 12, 1927. The youngest of 10 children, Ray grew up in the Hazelridge area. As a young man he enjoyed participating in hockey and baseball, as well as hunting and fishing with his brothers. Dad was a talented musician and loved to play the alto sax. On November 25, 1950 he married the love of his life Blanche and the two of them took over the family farm. Dad worked as a school bus driver and mechanic for the Transcona Springfield School Division for 23 years. He retired in 1987. Dad loved woodworking. His creations will long be cherished by all of our families. Love it or not, Dad was also great at doing household repairs and yard work. He took a lot of pride in his yard as he loved to work in the outdoors. Dad and Mom have done a lot of travelling over the years, especially since retirement. After Brenda took up permanent residence in Flin Flon, their mileage there alone probably matched Dad's many years of driving for the school division. Dad spent many hours with his grandchildren and his great-grandchildren all of which he loved very much. Ray was an avid curler as well. A longtime member of the Hazelridge Curling Club, Ray teamed up with his family in his early curling years. With Blanche and his two young boys on his squad, Ray spent many a frigid night throwing rocks with his neighbours and friends. Ray later moved his curling talents to the Springfield Curling Club where he was a regular participant in club curling as well as many seniors' playdowns and provincials. In the summer, Ray turned his recreational time towards golf. He maintained many of his friendships that he had gained through curling. More recently he looked forward to his weekly golf outing with the gang. In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. A celebration of his life will take place on Saturday, December 11 at 10:00 a.m. at Green Acres Funeral Home, Hwy. #1 E. at Navin Road, with Rev. Wayne Larstone officiating. For those friends who wish, remembrances can be made through donation in memory of Ray to the Anola United Church, 741 Wieser Cres., Anola, MB R0E 0A0. It breaks our hearts to lose you, But you did not go alone, For part of us went with you, The day God called you home. Though your smile is gone forever, And your hand we cannot touch, We will never lose the memory, Of one we loved so much. Thanks for the loving years you gave us, The happy times we shared, We all pray that when you left us, You knew how much we cared. Our family chain is broken, And nothing seems the same, But as God calls us one by one, The chain will link again. We love you Ray, Dad, Grandpa, Great-Grandpa. LAWRENCE KROCKER
LAWRENCE ROBERT KROCKER It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Lawrence (Larry) Krocker, who died with his parents by his side on December 8, 2004. Larry fought a lengthy battle with cancer and made the courageous decision to accept the inevitability of death, dying with dignity, at peace with himself and his God. Larry was born
on June 15, 1948, in Oliver, BC and moved to Winnipeg in the spring of 1950. He spent most of his school aged years in Transcona and Charleswood. He described his childhood as a happy one. He loved to talk about his antics in the classroom and enjoyed his many visits with his extended family in Broadview, SK. As a young adult, Larry loved adventure and enjoyed taking on new challenges including whitewater rafting and helicopter skiing. Laurie also liked to spend quieter times with his parents. Together they built cottages at Black Sturgeon Lake and enjoyed visiting with one another. Larry also had a love of music, playing the guitar and piano for his own pleasure and at social gatherings. Larry moved to Oakbank in 1985 with his wife Linda and son Christopher. Shortly after the move, his daughter Jenny was born. Larry spent many happy years in Oakbank building a home and barn, playing polo, caring for his family and spending time with his neighbours. During that period, he changed professions, moving from human resource management to senior administration. The highlight of his career was his work as the Superintendent of Milner Ridge Correctional Institution. Larry assumed a leadership role in establishing the facility and was responsible for all aspects of its operation. He loved working with Milner Ridge staff, many of whom stayed in touch with Larry after he left the facility. Their support and friendship and that of other colleagues, meant a lot to him. Larry will be sadly missed by his parents, Lawrence Krocker and Dorothy Krocker (nee Merkel); his children, Chris and Jenny and their mother, Linda; and her parents, Herbert and Beverly Butcher. He leaves to mourn his sister Carol Miller who he enjoyed spending time with, especially during his illness. He will also be missed by Carol's husband Cory Miller; their sons, Darrin, Darnell and Jason and their families; his nephew Colin and his family; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in Saskatchewan and British Columbia. Larry was blessed with many friends who were important to him throughout his life and who cared for him and visited him during his illness. He was grateful for these friendships, including those with Ben and Erna Thiessen; Darlene and Jeff Anderson; Elaine and Dana Elliott; Barbara, John, Catherine, Maria and Kristen Bromilow; and Carol Robson all of whom played a special part in his life. In the last few years, Larry was also grateful for the support of the people from the Faith Covenant Church, including the support and spiritual leadership of Gerald Froese who helped Larry accept God's love. The family would like to thank the Palliative Care team who supported Larry in St. Boniface Hospital and in the community. Special thanks are extended to Mark Sheppard and Louis Dansereau. Cremation has taken place and a celebration of Larry's life will take place at the Faith Covenant Church, 1229 Windemere Ave. on Monday, December 13 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to building housing and provide for 25 orphaned children in Balanga/Bataan Philippines. You brought light to the shadow of days gone by, stirred our hearts, made us laugh, made us cry. You enriched our life in the brief time we had together and we can't thank you enough...it's a shame for us to part. You woke up this morning feeling fine, no pain, no boundaries you're free of mind. It's your chance to wake up and plan a new day; no sense in hanging around, you've got to cover ground we couldn't keep you down. Forever loved and sadly missed by your family and by all of those who knew and loved you. Funeral arrangements are in care of Chapel Lawn Funeral Home. Family service to be held later.
