He worked on the family farm which was both dairy and crop producing. In the fall of 1955, he travelled to the middle east where he eventually met and married his beloved wife Nelida. From there they returned to Winnipeg and started their life together. His career involved employment as a parts manager at Trailmobile, followed by a short time in the construction trade building new homes. Finally, he was employed at the Canadian National Railway, where he worked until his retirement at 65 years of age. Along with his fulltime job, Stanley would spend each spring filing income tax returns for friends and family. Family was everything to Stanley, always reminding us that without family you had little. He devoted his time and energy to make sure that his children had every opportunity to education so as they would have security in the years to come. He was especially proud of his grandchildren watching them grow and accomplish the tasks that life presents. Stanley was very active after retirement, participating in numerous bowling leagues, playing softball and gardening. He was an active and devoted Mason initially with Fidelity Lodge which later amalgamated with Northern Light Prince Rupert's Lodge holding many different postings within the lodge. On weekends, Stanley would enjoy time up at the cottage doing odd jobs, playing cards and checkers, and visiting friends and family. You can only have a father patient, kind and true, No other friend in all the world would be so true to you, For all his loving kindness he asked nothing in return, If all the world deserted us to him we would turn. To those who have a father treasure him with care, For you will never miss him till you know that he is not there. A golden heart stopped beating his body is now at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us He only takes the best.
