STEVE FEDORKIE
STEVE FEDORKIE Peacefully, at his residence, with his wife and son at his side, Steve passed away and entered his eternal home. He will be sadly missed by his beloved wife Rosaline and his dear son Stephen Mark. He was predeceased by his father Peter; mother Dora; two brothers, Nicholas and John; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Melnyk and Peter Melcosky. He is survived by his brother Paul (Mary); two sisters, Mary Melnyk and Matilda Melcosky all of Minnedosa; and his mother-in-law Martha Chastko of Newdale; as well as many nieces and nephews. Steve was born
in 1926 on a small farm in the Ozerna district. After completing his education in both JackFish and Sandy Lake Schools, he began farming. From 1953 he worked in Winnipeg at a variety of jobs until 1966 when he became a delivery driver for Sears. In 1991, he decided to retire from driving and farming to see what else life had to offer. Steve could best be described as a gentle, caring man who showed great concern for his family. His passion for nature was truly evident in his crops, vegetable gardens and the beautiful array of flowers at his urban residence. Accompanied by his wife, he enjoyed winter vacations in Hawaii, Mexico, Florida and Cuba. During the summer, he could be found at his farm enjoying family and friends. He was a devout member of the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church for 42 years. Parastas (prayer service) will be held on Sunday, December 5 at 7:30 p.m. at the Holy Family Ukrainian Catholic Church, Grant Avenue. After the war with husband Bryan and daughter Lindsey she spent many years in Oxford and Coleshill, England until their immigration to Canada in 1964. Bobbi was a celebrated Restaurant Manager and chef in Winnipeg for the balance of her working life. In 1998 she moved to Calgary with husband Bryan to be closer to her daughter Lindsey. Bobbi will be sadly missed by all who knew her. Left to cherish her memory, her husband of 52 years Bryan Harris; daughter and best friend Lindsey Pfeifer and son-in-law Kim Pfeifer of Calgary, AB. Never to be beaten Bobbi exercised regularly both prior and after her diagnosis at the Bow Valley Club where she was the oldest women's member. In aid of helping others with ALS Bobbi wrote several articles for the ALS Society on "Personal Determination," the role and importance of "Kind People" she met in her life, the "Celtic Queen Boudicca", whose chariot and courage she associated with her wheelchair and her own fight with ALS and "Fax Machines" which allowed her to communicate with others even though she had lost her ability to speak. Bobbi participated in this years "Betty's Run for ALS" with several of her family, friends, and newly found ALS friends (Chris) in attendance. This feisty little lady from London spent many hours with her friends and family and always brought a little cheer to everyone she touched in her many travels around and about downtown Calgary. The family wishes to acknowledge all the wonderful people from the ALS Society and the Calgary Health Region who helped with the fight. In accordance with her wishes she will be cremated and there will not be a formal funeral service.
