OLGA CHARNEY (nee CITULSKI) It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Olga, beloved mother and Baba on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Selkirk General Hospital with her family by her side. Olga will be sadly missed by her loving daughter Gail; son Larry (Linda) and grandsons, Michael and David Charney; sisters, Mary Rudnicki and Tillie Mazepa. She was predeceased by her husband William in 1994; eldest son William Jr. in 2000 and her sisters, Annie, Rosie, Sophie and Pearl. Olga was born
on September 9, 1927 in Lockport, MB, where she married her husband William on June 15, 1946 and raised their three children. For the past three years Olga has resided at Tudor House in Selkirk, where she made many new friends. Funeral mass will be celebrated on Thursday, November 18 at 10:30 a.m. in the St. Mary's Ukrainian Catholic Church, Rossdale, MB, with Fr. Richard Soo officiating. Interment to follow in the Parish Cemetery. Olga's pallbearers will be Michael and David Charney, Bill Skromeda, Al Devaney, Brian Lamb and Billy Lamb. The family would like to thank Olga's nurses and friends at Tudor House for making her stay pleasant. As well, thank you to the Emergency Room doctors and staff at Selkirk Hospital. MARIAN CLAPA It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marian Clapa, husband of the late Maria Clapa, father, grandfather and great-grandfather on Thursday, November 11, 2004 at the age of 84. Left to mourn are daughters, Irene Pidstawka (Robert) of Arborg; Wanda Van Ryckeghem (Dan) of Winnipeg; Stanley Clapa (Patricia) of Winnipeg; grandchildren, Darlene Sutyla (Rene); Andrea Reeks (Paul); Zachary Clapa; great-grandchildren, Thomas Pidstawka, Todd Sutyla and Evan Reeks. Marian was born
in Tomaszow Mazowiecki, Poland, on November 2, 1920. After the war Marian married Maria. While in Belgium he worked as a coal miner for several years before immigrating to Canada in 1954. Marian started his career as a car man for the Canadian Pacific Railway, Weston Shops where he was well respected. He retired September 1, 1985. Marian was a jack-of-all-trades and almost a master of some. He enjoyed fishing in many lakes, but in his later years he mainly fished at Nutimik Lake in the Whiteshell area. Marian, his late wife Maria and their granddaughters enjoyed picking berries, mushrooms and fishing. Marian was a very devoted and concerned husband and father. He cared for his wife, who had Alzheimer's for many years and for the well being of his children and their families. We would like to thank the exemplary staff at the Grace Hospital for their care. Viewing will be at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, November 16 prior to the funeral at 10:00 a.m. at Cropo Funeral Chapel on 1442 Main St. Interment will follow in the Polish National Cemetery. ELIZABETH DOWNEY Elizabeth Downey, aged 93 years, passed away peacefully on Friday, November 12, 2004 at the Kildonan Personal Care Home. Elizabeth was born
in Manitoba on November 2, 1911 and resided here all of her life. She married Morris and they spent 60 happy years together. Morris predeceased her in 1995. Elizabeth was a devoted wife and mother and was always there for her daughter Muriel. Muriel will be forever grateful and thankful for having a mother who always came through for her. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Muriel Conn and husband Edward; three grandsons, Jeffrey and wife Karen, Gregory and wife Terry, Brian and wife Twylla-Jane; seven great-grandchildren, Carolyn and husband Darrall, Stephen, Miranda, Paul, Lauren, Aiden and Bryce; two great-great-grandchildren Riley and Joshua. The family would like to extend their sincerest thanks to all the wonderful staff at Kildonan Personal Care Home for their exemplary care and kindness shown to Elizabeth. LENA DUVELL September 29, 1909 - November 12, 2004 passed away quietly at the Tuxedo Villa Care Centre at the age of 95. She was predeceased by her husband of 52 years Bill; parents, Peter and Jessie; sisters, Julia, Emily and Jean. She is survived by her son Norman; grandson Randy and wife Bev and granddaughter Tamara. Lena was a down to earth, serious minded person who always kept busy baking and cooking delicious food and pastries, crocheting and knitting. She loved to garden and look after her flowers. She was a fabulous dressmaker, specializing in designing and sewing gowns for entire bridal parties. Lena will be remembered by a multitude of brides for her beautiful creations. MARTA GONZALES Peacefully, on Friday, November 12, 2004, Marta Gonzales passed away at the Parkview Lodge at the age of 73 years. She leaves to mourn her passing her sons, Marvin (Velia) and Eduardo (Imelda); her daughters, Nora (Juan), Carmen (Sifredo) and Regina; as well as 18 grandchildren. Prayer services will be held at the St. Ignatius Roman Catholic Church, 255 Stafford St. at Corydon Avenue on Monday, November 15 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Peter Monty S.J. the following morning, Tuesday, November 16 at 9:30 a.m. also at the church. The service will terminate at the church and cremation will follow. STEPHANIE KOLENDA (nee SHALAY) Peacefully on November 12, 2004, Stephanie Kolenda passed away at Concordia Hospital. She was predeceased by her husband William, father Onofrey and mother Katherine Shalay, brother John Shalay, sister Anne and husband Emil Walterson and brother-in-law Michael Podolski. Left to mourn her passing is her daughter Alice and husband Don Capri; daughter Gail and husband Vic Calladine; sister Mary Podolski; grandchildren, Troy (Valerie) Capri, Cheryl (Ken) Karas of Calgary, Lorraine (Dave) Jacobson, Darren Schmidt of Calgary, Derek Capri; six great-grandchildren; nieces, Heather (Gerry) Prescott, Eleanor (Wayne) Norburn of British Columbia. Her family and grandchildren meant the world to her. Holidays and Sunday dinners were special times at Grandma's house. Mom loved to crochet and she made afghans for family, friends and neighbours. Mom was employed at Continental Can and at Wilsons Auto Electric where she made many friends and lasting friendships. We would like to express our thanks to the nursing staff at Concordia Hospital for their care and compassion. We would also like to thank nurses Linda, Amy, Dr. Regehr, and all the staff at Kildonan Personal Care Centre for their comforting and personal care extended to mom. Many heartfelt thanks to all mom's neighbours for their generous help over the years. Cremation has taken place and as per her wishes there will be no funeral services. MARGARET JEAN LINKLATER March 28, 1926 - November 11, 2004 Jean passed away peacefully in her sleep at St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years Jack, on May 5, 2003. Jean will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by her daughter Pat Lee; her son Jack (Dorothy) Linklater; by grandchildren, Jason (Rhonda) Linklater and their children, Anya and Aidan, Peter Linklater, Naomi (Mark) Glockzin and their children, Brayden and Kaylen, David (Savannah) Linklater, Ruthe Linklater, Cory (Breanna) Lee, and Brenda (Ken) Akerman. She is also survived by and missed by her brother Gordon (Lynda) McGhee in England and her sister Eleanor (Bill) Mowat in British Columbia. She will be sadly missed as well by Wayne and Carol Lee and their children, Adam and Kylin. Her loss will be mourned by May Linklater in Ottawa and her son Jeff as well as by numerous nieces and nephews. Jean was a devoted wife and mother. She was a military wife for much of her life, travelling through Canada and Europe. A proud Canadian it is fitting that she should die on Remembrance Day. While it is hard to say good-bye to her, we rejoice in the life we shared with her. We take comfort in knowing that she is with her Saviour Jesus. In keeping with the generous way she led her life, Jean has left her body to medical science. Those who wish to may make donations in Jean's memory to the Salvation Army. We wish to extend special thanks to the staff at St. Boniface Hospital for the loving care they extended to Jean in the last several months. DOLORES IRENE (TRUDY) McDONALD Peacefully on November 13, 2004 at the Victoria General Hospital our beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend, passed away with her beloved family at her side. Mom was born
February 18, 1929 the eldest of four children to Peter and Mabel Udell in Brandon, MB. In 1949 she met the love of her life Thomas Patrick McDonald. They were married in Winnipeg on September 1, 1950, where they remained together until Dad's passing. Mom will be lovingly remembered and dearly missed by her family; daughter Katherine Ahlbaum (Gord Courage); son Jim (Audrey); son Tim; daughter Shannon Ward (Peter) and daughter Kelly Jamieson (Dan); grandchildren, Cory, Riley (Corey), Raegan, Tara (Chris), Shelley (Kris), Stephanie, and Kendall; great-grandchildren, Joshua, Jordan, Jessica, Brady, Tanner, Payton, Brodie and Jaxxon. Also left to mourn her passing are brothers, Del Udell (Joy) and Don Udell (Sandra); as well as several nieces, nephews and friends. Special cousin Isla Kadas will miss Mom dearly. Mom was predeceased by her husband Thomas in 1992; father Peter Udell in 1976; mother Mabel Janz in 1991; step-father Roy Janz in 1994; and brother Ralph Udell in 1998. EILEEN ANNE NICKLE (WORTLEY) July 18, 1925 - November 12, 2004 Suddenly on November 12, 2004, Eileen Anne Nickle passed away at her residence. Eileen was predeceased by her husband Millan Rigby Nickle on September 13, 2003. She is survived by her son Thomas (Diane) and daughter Janice Golas; grandchildren, Sherri (Garner) Donnell, Corri (Chris), Ryan (Martina); great-granddaughters, Dayna and Sierra Donnell and Emily Nickle and sister Margaret Brown. Eileen was born
in Winnipeg and raised on Lipton Street with her four sisters. Eileen graduated from Daniel McIntyre Collegiate and started working at Great West Saddlery. There she met her life long partner Millan and they were married on June 29, 1946. Eileen's early career was family focused with the arrival of their children. Many happy memories were enjoyed at the family home on Washington Avenue where they resided for 54 years. In the late 1950's Eileen returned to the work force and enjoyed many years at Winnipeg Supply and Eaton's Mail Order. She was a huge presence in her children's and grandchildren's lives and always was there when needed. Eileen was outgoing, kindhearted and always willing to lend a hand. She was the life of the party and leader on the dance floor. Eileen's love for food was well known to all friends and family and she was always starting a diet on "Monday". Eileen always felt fortunate to be a cancer survivor for over 35 years. Her memories will be cherished; she will be missed and always loved. A memorial service will be held at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, 4000 Portage Ave. on Friday, November 19 at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, 193 Sherbrook Ave., Winnipeg, MB.

WASYLKA PANCHUK On November 12, 2004 Wasylka Panchuk aged 97 years, passed away at the Vita Personal Care Home, Vita, MB. She was born
July 22, 1907 at Arbakka, MB. Her parents died at an early age and she helped raise her brothers. Wasylka went out to work at an early age as a housekeeper for different families to help support her family. In 1929 she married George Panchuk at Arbakka. Wasylka and George had three daughters Olga, Elsie and Jean. They lived in different communities until 1968 when they moved to Vita. Wasylka loved her Church, garden, flowers, embroidering, crocheting, and hooking rugs. In 2000 she moved to the Vita Personal Care Home. She leaves to mourn her passing, her daughters, Olga of Sioux Lookout, ON and Jean of Gladstone, MB; grandchildren, Linda (Juri) Pridritaire, Sharon (Adam) Wilson, Louise (Lenny) Rausch, Debbie (Mario) Rasetti, Rick (Pam) Dezall, Rob (Addy) Dezall and Lori (Ward) Lennon; great-grandchildren, Kelly, Sheldon, Anthony, Danielle, Miranda, Jennifer, and Thomas; one sister Daria Rutka of Vita, MB; sisters-in-law, Julia Woronuik, Evelyn Woronuik; one brother-in-law Pete Panchuk; many nieces, nephews, friends and neighbours. She was predeceased by her parents, husband George; daughter Elsie; brothers, John, Nick, George, Matt and Mike; sons-in-law, Geordie Roblin and Douglas Dezall; and many sisters and brothers-in-law. Visitation will take place Monday, November 15 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Vita Funeral Home, Vita, MB. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, November 16, 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter and Paul Ukrainian Orthodox Church, Arbakka with The Very Rev. Fr. Miron Pozniak presiding.
