Mom also drove school bus for the River East School Division for nine years, and owned a cleaning business for seven years. MARGARET JOHNSON (nee BOUNDY) Peacefully, Margaret passed away on November 6, 2004 at the Arborg Personal Care Home at the age of 91. Leaving to mourn are her daughters, Sylvia (Maurice) Sigurdson of Arborg, Mabel (Ron) Korchynski of Hnausa, Gwen (Gerry) Smith of Winnipeg, Sandra Johnson and Fergie of Arborg, Verna Hryhorchuk of Riverton; 14 grandchildren and great-grandchildren, Maureen and Daniel (Addison and Garrett), Darcy (Tristan), Jeff (Braeden), Eric; Greg and Wendy (Christopher), Brenda and Rich (Alexandra and Carter), April and Darren (Holly and Grace); Derek and Tracey (Brooke), Melanie; Nicole and Dave, Chad and Kristine; Kelly and Brandy (Magnus), Mark and Scott; two sisters, Olive Firman and Doris (Don) Gibson; one brother George (Maria) Boundy; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her husband Steve in 1991; granddaughter Kristy Hryhorchuk in 1983; son-in-law Anthony Hryhorchuk in 2003; her parents, John and Alice Boundy; sister Edith Einarson; two brothers, John Boundy and Frank Boundy. Margaret was born
on November 2, 1913 and raised in Ledwyn, MB. Although life was difficult for homesteaders in a new land, she often talked about fond memories of everyday events. She worked in various locations in Manitoba as a housekeeper/mother's helper and in logging camps as a cook. She married Steve on November 10, 1940. They had five daughters all of whom were raised on the farm just outside of Arborg. A dedicated wife and mother, she would bake, cook, sew and knit to help provide for her family. Deriving much pride in her accomplishments she entered in the Arborg Agricultural Fair up until 89 years of age winning countless prizes and awards. She strived to instill community and personal values in her daughters and thus involved herself in their activities in many capacities such as 4H and figure skating. Personally she joined in community projects and events; The Red Cross, Arborg Agricultural Society, MFAC, Unitarian Ladies Aid, Arborg and Districts Historical Society - "A Century Unfolds"; Arborg and Districts Adult Day Program. In the years Steve and Margaret had together, they enjoyed camping, driving to explore the province, travelling to other countries, attending church, watching their grandchildren in hockey, figure skating and other activities they may have been involved in. Her wide variety of interests and passions included cake decorating, photography , quilting, knitting, reading and travelling. Whether it be creating wedding cakes for her daughters, taking photos of her numerous trips with Steve, making quilts and afghans for her family members, proved her ability to take on numerous and various projects. Having been raised in simpler times and living over the 20th century, Margaret displayed strong discipline in every task. Nothing was left unfinished, she put in her best efforts to complete every project she committed to. She possessed a sharp sense of humour, a common attribute that she shared with Wendy Osioway. This special bond brought her many happy hours at the Adult Day Program. When she felt she was needed nothing held her back from joining in and giving all she had. Her love for nature, in particular birds, meant she always had a bird feeder filled. This love was also reflected in her photography displaying her natural ability to capture scenic beauty as well as precious moments. Up until the last few weeks before her passing, she refused to allow physical restrictions to affect her independence. She attended events, did daily tasks unaided and still wanted to travel wherever she could. Towards the end it became obvious that physically her feet could no longer keep up with her heart. Pallbearers are Mark and Scott Hryhorchuk, Dave Krostewitz, Jeff Sigurdson, Eric Sigurdson and Derek Smith. Honorary Pallbearers are Darcy Sigurdson, Dan Malkowich, Greg Korchynski, Rich Mansell, Darren Klassen, Chad Nagy and Brandy Hawes. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. at the Arborg Unitarian Church Rev. Stefan Jonasson officiating. Donations may be made to the Arborg Unitarian Church or Camp, Box 1102, Arborg, MB R0C 0A0. With our lives intertwined we feel your life in ourselves The dedication of consistency; never failing The value in the mundane; discipline of your acts The never ending horizons of dreams with The courage to expand All comes in a different light From your rich life A bird flying freely; a rock settling in a pond The beauty in a new sight; a familiar face to behold The paradox of life was richly lived through yours Now complete and left with us to live on We sadly let go of a life fully lived and Hold the memories fast within our hearts Arborg (MacKenzie) Funeral Home in care of arrangements.
